Are Vampires and Werewolves just another form of Demon?

I think they are. What do you think and why?

None of the above. Vampires and werewolves are manifestations of our human drive to connect with not only the supernatural (which we don't have to understand), but with animus (mind, spirit, courage, passion, wrath; akin to anima).

I was under the impression that the 1st Vampire was a human that was cursed by "GOD". Don't that make them a form of demon?

I sort of agree with EternalxDemon. Although I don't believe in God (no offense to those who do or disrespect my opinion), thats one major theory I've heard.

I believe that vampires are a sort of demon, and some a tortured soul. After all, not everyone wants to be immortal and living with a curse. Not everyone can look at being a vampire as something positive. I'm not sure what I believe werewolves to be though.

Ok just to make it clear I never said that I believe in God. I am not christian. I was just pointing out some of the stories I have heard in that last post of mine.

If you read the definition of a Vampire on the What is a Vampire section on the Left...it mentions demon in the definition...but since actual vampires don't exist...neither do demons.

I agree with ~BloodMother~, all these two subject are, are facets of the mind and body which are there to explain certain frequencies that cannot be explained any other way. Religious idealisms have nothing to do with vampires or werewolves.

Oh, and just because the a "god" supposedly cast Cain out of the garden, does not mean Cain became a demon. He was merely curse to walk the earth for all eternity for killing his brother. Suitable punishment if you ask me.

In most books and films, yes I do believe they are demos. I find it hard to believe that vampires, werewolves etc actually exist in real life. :D

Physiologically and anatomically Vampires, Werewolves and Demons are all different, so I believe them to be all separate species.

However, I have seen reference to Vampires being "demons that inhabit the undead body of a resurrected corpse".

For the most part, Vampires and Werewolves were considered to be evil--and being that Demons are considered evil, Werewolves and Vampires may have been (inadvertently and incorrectly) lumped into that catagory.

I have to agree with BloodMother on this. I do not believe Demons or werewolves are vampiric. I believe that demons feed on the souls of the living to make them turn against that which is pure.

It goes back to religious viewpoints because that is how most cultures were based. Their lives were based around their religious beliefs, whatever they might be. This is why researching cultures is so difficult because it is so wrapped up in superstition.

Even nowadays no one agrees on what a vampire really is and I am on a hot trail concerning that but the curse aspect comes from movies and books about Vlad Tepes. He wasn't a vampire its all from fiction. This is one thing I notice here that some will answer from a folkloric sense and others from a more modern belief system and others again from pure fiction...in other words the ideas made up in the minds of writers. Remember when you look into some of the old writings that they are biased by the religious beliefs. You cannot get away from it even if you want and a debate on whether there is this or that pertaining to belief systems will not suffice with an answer.

What most think of as a demon is a fallen angel...they were the offspring that were supposedly killed in the great flood and could no longer take body so supposedly they covet the bodies of man. This is only one viewpoint. I really don't think it has anything to do with vampirism per se. Well indirectly let's say. As for Cain...well that remains to be seen. Things were expurgated and exaggerated for personal reasons so...heh...he didn't always wander...he became successful after a time and they destroyed some of his cities for it under the guise that there were evil goings on there.

This is a question that will only and most likely can be only answered by "personal" viewpoints. It's futile to try because no one is going to agree.

I Think That Vampires Of Lore Are Demons Who Possessed Dead Body's. Once A Body Is Dead It's Dead And Who Says Demons Cant Get Inside A Dead Person As Well As a live one.
And As For Werewolves They Can Be A Demon That Shape shifts.

If you are talking demons as in associated with the Devil and hell then no I don't believe that. I believe that they are part of evolution honestly and everything is always evolving and they are part of the food chain.

at the same time i think they are creatures that do still have human thoughts and such.

no i completely disagree with the first post i do not think they ae demon,maybe some have demonic atributes but that might be due to personality disorders i think they are jsut another extension of mankind in that they are creatures that still to this day is not excepted by everyone and are either feared or considered freaks.

For me I would have to say no, a vampire is not a demon. There are many definitions of what a demon is and not a one that I have read seems to fit what a vampire is. A vampire is not a spirit nor a fallen angel and they are most certainly not possessed.

i would have to say that a werewolf and a vampire is neither demon nor human. they are a being trapped between this world and the next..... if i am not mistaken a demon was never part of the human world. but i could be wrong.

They do have fangs, but often they are not visible. As far as I know, they cannot transform into any other form, but I remember little of my experiences with vampires other than battle.

To me demons are creatures of a Hell or so. Vampires and werewolves [mythologically speaking since that's the only thing there is] are humans who ended up getting an unfortunate destiny passed on to them.

demons are spirtual beings that wish only to arm and destroy while vampire and werewolf are simply mythological invention to fill up the folklor and our mind with creativity.

I always thought that werewolves and vampires weren't demons. Demons were never human. They never have that shred of humanity in them.

Depends on what book you're reading or what show you're watching. Seriously. To me, a demon is an entity that never had a human body nor a soul. A vampire has/had both. Some vampires (according to certain fiction) still have their souls. The soul is just trapped. Other fiction claims that the soul has fled and that the body is possessed by a demon.

A demon is sometimes held to be an entity that never lived and that never had a soul, simply exists to serve an evil purpose.
A vampire's soul, survey says, is just being suppressed by an overwhelmingly evil force(maybe a demon). With that, the stake to the heart serves to trap the body, letting the no-longer trapped soul escape.

I don't believe that vampires and werewolves are demons....and it depends on your belief system and your way of life as to whether or not you believe in any of them...but I do not think those who believe as they do should be discredited for what they think or believe.

but I do know what many have said and many have called demons,worlocks, witches, vampires, and warewolves are all myths of the "dark side" and people just attempt to live similar lifestyles and call themselves witches and all of the above! not to knock the possablility that they do exisit I'm just saying I've never experinced some one change in to any of the above I've never accually casted a successful spell nor have I viewed any actual accounts of a spell ever working I've never witnessed anything I guess to me it's still a makebeleive sort of thing just something I like to use as an escape something I use to flee reality the real world call me crazy but many doctors would call many of the people i've spoken to on VR Mentally insame and delusional if they actually belive that they are any of the above and should be put away :] smiles but those aren't my workds just what I've heard is all.

A true demon would be a corrupted angel destroyed after satin war with God. I don't believe that vampires or werewolf are demons for that reason. I don't believe they have a corporeal form. Demon in my mind were always energy relation evil energy but still not tangible some thing you can not touch and hold on too.

I don't think vampires and werewolves are demons, because they have the free will to be good or evil. Demons are evil and that's it! And if by "the first vampire" you are referring to "Dracula" that was more of a personal conflict. He dedicated himself to fight in the crusades and returned to his castle to find his wife dead after an enemy invasion. Madness took over when the priests told him she was damned to hell because she took her own life rather than be tortured to death by the invaders. I think he willingly put the curse on himself.

Here is my point of view on this...so many are members of this site yet they do not believe in vampires and werewolves...which that is fine...but there are people who are considered vampires because of their lifestyle and their beliefs...so many are thinking along the lines of the Hollywood vampire..those that are undead...suck the blood of helpless victims and are allergic to holy water and garlic...can't go out in the daylight...etc....those type of vampires do not exist as far as I am aware of..but the ones who lead the lifestyle are in fact Vampires..just not the way most visualize them..they are not mental..they just have a different way of life. Same goes for Lycans...or as many say...werewolves...from my understanding of being here on VR for several years..those who truly claim to be Lycan are due to their personal traits not because they turn into a wolf.

Well my opinion is that there are Demons yet not being Vampiric or a werewolve to me would catagorize them as Demons.. THey are a cursed soul / person who has to live with their curse and are not from hell or a *God* that created a demon.... I feel that if they truely existed then it would be a terrible curse that they have to live with when they also still have some humanity in them, as it were..

yes a Vampire is a living dead whom is changed and a werewolve is a person who changes during the full moon... yet they still have their human side to also deal with tome.. just an opinion is all..

most of the stories, legends, movies (account of any media type) make mention of a vampire falling in love or searching for a lost love, protection of someone. They may be cold blooded, but not heartless. As with every living/animated being... there are two sides..... light and dark.... good and evil, and a few shades in between. The only accounts that describe either vampire or werewolves as evil monster or senseless killers, come from those that hunt them. They have to build up the misdoings of their game so they seem like more of heroes. Vampires feed for survival, vampire hunters kill for sport. Any many vampire and werewolves were victimized as humans and became a new form. Why should they be branded a demon for not committing any sin?

Demons have never been human whereas Vampires and werewolves begin that way so no I don't believe so.

lol ok how about this...instead of giving a spirit a LABEL, how about spirits either being violent or calm? Demons, Angel, Vampires, Werewolves...all spirits, just labeled and judged according to someone's viewpoint , and mostly misunderstood. People have this way of catagorizing and giving spirits many labels and terms for things they cannot explain or understand fully. Personally, I believe many spirits can take on many several different forms however it wishes. Sometimes they can attach to others, sometimes they can possess for whatever reason. A spirit to me is just that. It's just the nature of it that we judge it.

I believe that demons are what we put a name to for our fears and guilt or maybe unaccepted thoughts, acts or feelings.

I feel we give the label of Demon to those that represent evil, or bad things just like when you see a movie and the Nun is fighting her demons when she is checking out the sexy guy... LOL serious though, We all see things demonic in many different things just how it is interpeted by one self.

I still feel that a Werewolve or Vampire cannot be a demon because their curse is THEIR DEMON... and they have to fight it every day they are alive .. so I actually would feel compassion for someone if having such a curse and life to live..... If you wan to call it living...

Really it depends on the choice one makes, to be Dark doesn't mean bad or evil, can be Dark and still be on the light side, but to murder takes it to the Demonic side which then is considered evil, its the choices you make that determines Demonic or not.

Well in my opinion there are different, because werewolf is considered an animal and vampire is considered a dead human. So there are different, but their forms of being demons are similar. Vamipres (as legends says) prey of female virgins. Werewolves merely kill, so in the sense that they both kill, I'd say yes, they probably are..

Vampires are actually considered undead. If they were dead they wouldn't be moving.

Darkness and Evil are 2 different things, one can be Dark and still of the light, Evil is an act, it is a choice you make, even one of the light can be Evil, simply by doing an Evil act, such as Murder, anything that would Violate another against their will basicly, for example, a Vampire is Dark, but if of the light then will seek permision to feed upon another and wont take more than what is needed to avoid harming another life, as for an Evil Vampire will just rip your existance from you and drain you of every thing and leave you dead, not caring if you wanted to live. It is one thing to be Dark and torture a person that gives you permision to and is enjoyable on different levels. Now do you think its right to torture someone that doesnt enjoy it and didnt give permision just so that you can get your pleasure? Thats when it becomes Evil, Violating the Gift of life. I hope you can understand the point im trying to get across.

If a vampire is of the light, yet feeds off people, even with permission it is still dark. It would be a parasite basically. Something that is dark yet light would be a contradiction. The vampire could slip and kill you, therefore making it dark if not a murderer.

I don't believe vampires or werewolves are demons...they are from what I've read more human like than demon like... usually cursed (in loose term) with the blood of the other.

Vampires may or may not be a a result of a curse passed down during the battle but they have so much human in them that there is little to call demon...just evolved humans

Demons are pure evil, Vampires and Werewolf's aren't demons if so they would be called demons. Vampires can be good and bad just like humans, there have been humans who are just as bad as some of the vampires and werewolf's in the stories and they haven't been called demons. And all of these are just fictional characters we have made up to entertain ourselves.

Demon's are evil and they're involved with the devil. they were angels that were cast into hell with Lucifer after he said he wanted to be God. So no Vampires and werewolves are not demons. they can be bad, just like humans can, but not pure evil...

They are figments of our imagination. Our desire to be more than we are. I don't think they are demons though. We want to be them. Do we want to become demons? Perhaps, we are the demons, for wanting to inhabit something that the world considers to be "abnormal".

According to my beliefs daemons (demons) are a type of spirit, closer to a god or demi-god than a human. They are certainly capable of mimicking the vampire and werewolf forms, but that doesn't change their essential nature.

When I think of werewolves, I think of them as nature's vengeance - created to keep humans in check.

Psi Vampires, I suppose, are real enough though I tend to think of them as semi-ordinary people with a flaw in their ability to produce energy. As far as I'm concerned anyone is capable of mimicking this form of "energy theft", though it normally isn't necessary for existence.

If sanguinarian vampires exist (outside of those who have a disease like porpheria or simply believe they are), I've never heard of one. So, at best, I would guess that they are a product of the darkness. I think it's far more likely that these vampires were never human, nor is it likely that a human could ever become one.

But that's just my opinion.
