While you are sleeping do weird things happen? Do things seem out of place? How do you explain this?

Your cereal box is backwards, your milk is moved from the top shelf of the fridge to the middle shelf, your keys are on the wrong hook or missing, a picture is moved, etc.

Do you think it is ghosts? Or is it someone you live with?

What if you live alone? Who did it? Are you sleepwalking?

How is this explained from a spiritual and/or psychological point of view?

Other than having extremely lucid dreams, I lead a boring life of slumber. I have been known to suffer from sleep apnea and I have had a fight or two in a dream that may have damaged the person beside me... other than that -- Im vanilla.

By vanilla, I mean plain. Nothing out of the ordinary.

it depends on the person and the situation. Yes some people sleep walk. Some people live with people who move things and I do believe that some times other forces are at work, not just unexplainable one some natural ones. things can move cause of small earth quakes that happen all the time that we never even feel. paranormal activity is possible if you live with a spirit or you are into dark magic.

I'm going to say sleepwalking becasue many times have I went to sleep on the couch and woke up in bed and i have been alone these times. Also I have had jewlrey disapear only to wind up in my jewlery box.

ive experanced a bunch of things happen to me when i am sleeping other thing than what you have experanced maybe because i deal with the dead throught rituals

I'd say record yourself sleeping and just record whatever you can to see what happens while you are sleeping if possible. :)

I will have to say that in our house, everytime I walk into the kitchen, day or night, that some of the cupboards on the top are opened....And then some of the drawers....Never the same ones though......Now I know it sounds like that movie.....

But I live with 4 others and we all have said the same damn thing....And we all close them repeatedly....I swear, it's like I shut them and go to the bathroom or something and walk back in and 3 or 4 of the doors are freankin open again.....

It's just more of an irritation really...None of us have a bad feeling about the house, but that's just one of the goofy things that have happened.....We also have many electronics that turn on by themselves....Like radios and tv's....

It's that or we are all just really sleep deprived...lol.....

it happens all the time to me but ti is cause I am sleep walking. So no mistery here sorry I am just a sleep walker.

One time while I and my sisters Napped we all heard like the radio was playing like right in our ears and it was playing evanescence but the only radio in the house was unplugged. Also when I sleep I hear some one walking around in my room and other room and I know my sisters are in bed. We do have a ghost here so most the time I do believe it is him things come up missing in our house all the time clothes that we just had right there and things like that!

i have locked my apartment door before bed.
then i wake up and find my door unlocked i have been known to sleep walk but also i have lived with gosts so my experinces it could be any thing lol...

It's not happened in a long time, but sometimes when I was asleep, I'd wake up & freeze as the bed felt like it was being nudged, it was a weird sensation... I did suffer with bad insomnia though, maybe it was that

psychologicaly i say there is a terrible robber...lol....

spiritualy i say there is a high chance of there being a ghost or spirit of some kind.....i only say this cuz my gf got a few cuts on her stomach and it looked like a cross....i was with her so she didnt do a self-inflicted wound so it kind of got to me as a little freaky

Terrible robber huh? How many nights does he have to come back and still have nothing to show for? The only thing I can think of that I am actually missing is a sock.

i resently had been talking to my boyfriend about cutting his hair and when i woke from that night slumber i cut all my hair off errrrr

i wake up in odd places, like the bathtub, in the middle of a four lane on the medium places i know i did not lay my head to rest

i would have to go with sleep walking for my case but i believe each persons exp of these events could be ghostly, i think it vary's from case to case

For a whole year I've had paranormal events in my house, especially during the night, nowadays I tend to hear strange noises sometimes, have night terrors or wake up with deep scrathes-I don't think I did them, I keep my nails short. Also have stuff disappear, but not only during the night.

Uhh. Usually if something is moved in my place, it's because I did it and forgot about it later.

This includes, but is not limited to:

Socks in the fridge
Cereal box under the bed
Toilet paper soaking in the sink
and underwear missing

There have been many times throughout my life (not just while I've been sleeping) that objects have "gone missing" only to reappear later somewhere in plain sight after I had quit looking for them. A couple days ago was a perfect example, I was looking for me sunglasses and could not find them anywhere. I even had 2 other people helping me look. After I quit looking and just used another pair and I went outside. Shortly after I came back in I found the ones I was looking for sitting in plain sight on the TV tray in front of the recliner in the living room. I asked my gf where she found them and she didnt even know they were there till I pointed them out and she had no idea how they got there.

I feel the bed vibrate, and no one else can. This disturbs my sleep often. I think I'm feeling low level earth movement, or possibly vibrations caused by distant but approaching aircraft, or even heavy equipment (like semis or street cleaning trucks). There is also an active oil well in the midst of this urban area, with a lot of underground equipment, and an amazing network of electrical, and water runoff control under the city whose workings are masked by urban noise. My hearing and sense of touch are sharp, and I often feel or hear things before anyone else in a room does, even through my feet when sitting with them planted on the floor.

once when I was a little girl I was asleep on the sofa, My late Brother & Late step father where doing some work in the sitting room when a large pot lifted it self up into the air and threw it self at my late step father's back. I don't know why the hell that happend but I remember my brother telling me all about it when I woke up.

Never have experienced this before, if no one lives in the house you may have a spirit that likes pulling pranks. so where do you go from here spells or contact? to get rid of the spook or to understand it.

I am a firm believer in logic but there are many things it can't explain. The best method is to look for all the logical and possible explanations first and if none of those are correct then whatever is left no matter how improbable must be correct. That is the essence of the logic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle used with Sherlock Holmes.

I haven't had anything like that happened to me. But I believe very much that I could be from the paranormal. If you find things misplaced in your house that were normal the night before, you were either really drunk that night or you have a ghost on your hands.

I used to think that my dolls and stuffed animals were like the things in Toy Story. All joking aside, I understand what you are talking about. Especially when you are looking for something and you know where you left it it but it is not there....Missing.

I woke up once running

I, too, have found things such as:

Forks in the recliner (clean and unused)
Exercise ball in the bathtub (which sounds kinkier than it turned out to be...)
Mountain Dew bottles inside my journal drawer
Toilet paper in my car

Lol, if its you sleep walking youre a funny sleep walker that just does random things... Might be spirits, but I rather go with the fun answer and just say youre a odd sleep walker.

Could be out of body experiences or just sleep walking. My son is starting to worry about this. He isn't sure if it's grandpa's spirit helping to clean since he was a neat freak or that it is him sleepwalking. He found the bobbafett helmet in bed

For me it would be hard to say as I have kids and god knows what they might be doing while I am asleep.

I have had some unusual things happen but no one would confess to it....so it is more than likely something they had done rather than something supernatural. And none of us sleepwalk so that is completely out of the question.

So for me my answer would have to be my kids doing things that I am not aware of or having those moments where I had done it myself but not being able to recall doing them.

I used to sleep with one eye open.

A buddy of mine, who was in jail with me at this time, was dreaming of fighting once and kicked the edge of the bed stubbing his toe.

When I had my own apartment in Wausau, WI (don't ever go there, not even to visit.) I would go to sleep with the fan on. By the morning it would be off or set to a different setting. The once it was unplugged. (I eventually ending up smashing the fan for other reasons.)

I have had things disappear from the top of my dresser and then days later reappear. This happens very often and I know its the spirits playing with me. The good thing is they do not take the stuff I really need

Nothing subtle like that happens at my house. I'll be laying in bed, and I'll hear something falling off the shelf or the wall. Then I'll run out and something will be on the floor. But that also happens when I'm awake, only less frequently. And for the record, I live alone, so a clumsy, night owl roommate is not an option.

i sometimes feel like i am a few inches above the matress, which distracts me and i become alert. and that isnt cool because of how long it takes to go back to sleep and how rediculous the very idea of hovering is, what with gravity effecting virtually everything.

I seem to have things moved around in my room. My glasses, cups, meds i keep thinking i might be getting old though and forgetting where i put it.

I do understand what your talking about, I have found it to happen because my soul is walking around and tends to change things. I recall waking up one morning to find that everything in the room was opposite. I even got up and went out the door and the rest of the house was normal.

I know I was fully awake, I think it was more intuition that told me to return to my sleep and so I did a hour later I woke up and everything was the way it was, although things on my dressing table were on the opposite sides to where I had left them.

I think it is because the soul isn't completely back in the body and we tend to move things around and see things from an opposite point of view when out of our bodies.

I have never had anything like this happen to me but if it did it would freak me out i am thinking where i wouldn't stop running for miles.
I know i have gone to bed thinking i locked my door only to find it unlocked in the morning but the simple solution was i just neglected to complete the locking up at bedtime.

I have found things slightly moved after I wake up, but I attribute this to my cats or my husband lol. I only start to worry if I know that the aforsaid elements haven't moved anything. I do hear things bang around when I am awake, or laying in bed. And I know that the cats didn't or can't do it, and my husband is outside in the garage or he's at work.

Thankfully I've never had anything of the like happen to me--usually if something is missing or lost it is because of a laspe of memory or because my dog, being nosy, moves something.

Anything is possible...the human mind is a complex organ that we still have no clue about.There is a chemical in the brain that makes the muscles "freeze" once we hit R.E.M. sleep...but in some it doesn't work and they talk or move or even walk while in deep sleep.Night Terrors or bad dreams cause people to thrash around and scream...fight and kick because they are in between R.E.M. sleep and an awaking state...that is when a person can be the most dangerous and be in the most danger.In some cases they can see and hear what is going on in the real world...but are trapped on the edge of their nightmare.

Personally, I've never had anything like that happen while I've been sleeping. Most of my freaky stuff happens while I'm awake and can witness it. lol Lucky me, eh???

However, if things did happen when someone was sleeping, a likely culprit would be sleepwalking, but I wouldn't entirely rule out ghostly activity. If someone is experiencing such things, I would advise setting up a video camera to record themselves. Might be interesting what they catch on film. ;)

there was a few times when i was in prison that my cell mate and i were both sleeping but having a convo but neither of us remember what was said

there has been many times that i have woken up and found things moved to another spot or a light on when i know i had left it off.

We have a ghost in our house, I have always felt a presence here. We hear footsteps in the attic at night, the TV turns by itself (everything had been previously off and only the sound goes on), and both my husband (KCRC) and I have beeen shaken awake with no one else in the room.

I love our ghost and feel almost proteted by it.

I am not aware that I have ever sleep walked, however I have had dreams in which I re-live my past or some trauma hits me.

When I wake up I have an odd feeling - almost like a warning of sorts. For the next day or so things are normally rather strange, for example I get extreme occurences of deja vu, and have just a general "blank" feeling.

I would have to say that these sorts of perceived notions occur as the psyche resets itself, or kind of *saves* what happened that day. It will register things being the way they should be out of maybe habit. So when you wake up, and find things out of place, it is only because you are used to them being in place. Where they ought to be.

Naturally, when you think of a cereal box, do you think of the images on the front, or the stuff on the back? When you sleep, maybe you intrinsically realize where the cereal is using whichever you pay attention to more. When you get up, the cereal box is showing the backside instead of the front you are used to.

So the cereal box was never really different, it's just that you thought it was out of habit of seeing it that way every day?

My sister use to sleep walk and change the living room furniture around . My mom would ask her why in the morning and she always said she didnt do it. Then we got a Video Camera and she was shocked.

I have had really bad nightmares before and woke up in a panic. I have woken up in different rooms before and not known how I got there. Things of mine have come up missing while I'm sleeping. I think it could be people steeling stuff out of my room, but some cases I think I was sleepwalking.

Although I am not beyond believing in things that go bump in the night- I believe that more times than not, you forgot you did something, you may be sleepwalking, someone else did it, or... it just seems way easier these days to point the finger towards paranormality than normality.

I had a rather long period where things were out of order and misplaced in the morning. I asked a friend to sleep over to solve it. It turned out to be sleepwalking. It stopped all of a sudden so now, aside from nasty nightmares from time to time, I am in deep sleep.

usually when I sleep I tend to travel out of my body and to other place and locations that are quite unknown to me when I awake.But I have talked to a few ppl who said they have seem me even though I am not there with em physically.

I have stuff moved and/or misplaced and some stuff just gone. Still not being able to find it. I can not explain this. Is it a ghost or sleepwalking. I am a very light sleeper so I know if anyonre got up and was messing around I would hear them. I have had other weird experiences that had nothing to do with sleep. But then I have been sleepwalking since I was a kid. So it is really hard to tell.

House elves or teenagers looking for a snack if my first bet. Most spirits will not be bothered with such little things.

I would find snack wrappers and candy wrappers around the house and thought it was my children. Turned out to be my husband and he had no recollection of doing eating the snacks at all. Just like one bag of fruit snacks a night, but he seriously had no clue until he "woke up" sitting on couch with the half eaten snack in his hand. It is amazing how conscious people can seem while they are actually in that half sleepy state, and it just gets more confusing when they don't remember. Could eventually cause madness, I think!

I believe in the paranormal activities because this one time i woke up and my radio was turning on and off. or i have this door in the upstairs of my house and it dosnt matter what i do when i wake up the door is always open and when i watch t.v. i hear walking from above but when i get up their nobodys their.

i think it is based on the person some of us sleepwalk and in this state even will make themselves a meal while others have spirits playing tricks on them i have seen a little of both

I've often woken up in a cold bath at 4 am although i have no recolection of getting up and running the bath i also find lit canles and incense. I now know them a sensual sleep baths its the only way to describe them

I remember when I was a kid I used to sleepwalk and mess up the fridge and the flatware. Might be that. I do not believe in ghosts, they might believe in me, but not vice versa.

Bah, nothing weird ever happens to me hehe...if something is moved while I am asleep, it's usually the cat who does it. She's good at haunting my house.

I have had things like that happen to me and I never really gave it a second thought. I just thought that was natural/normal. But now that I think about it, I believe it was spiritual.

Let me start off by saying my mother and i have always been sensitive to the supernatural. But most recently the apartment my wife and children live in has a spirit. She is an older woman. I am not sure of her story and why she is here, but she seems to be harmless so far. I see her watching my wife and myself from the bedroom door but never inside the door. We have a monitor in my daughters room so we can hear them at night. I spend most of the night awake due to work habits, so i hear everthing that goes on in the apartment. well on with the story. I have heard on some occasions the radio in their room change stations, this happened to me years ago and then again recently. I also hear drawers closing. Other things have happened but that is the most recent

I've worked in my sleep too. That was always funny. I never could figure out how things got done until my old roommate told me that I was "up" all night on the computer.

Well, during sleep I'm sure stuff will usually be Distorted. However if things get messed up WHILE you sleep, I'm sure it's due to sleep walking.

Oh, and when I worked as a supervisor at one plant, they always called for me to call my bosses extension...

So in my sleep sometimes I would wake up dialing 4105

like much person i talk in my sleep i also one time been hurt or felt somethings in my dream and at my awaking i really feel pain. but i think the real pain i got from being led a wrong way was tranfer in my dream and not the opposite^^

i do not know if this goes in this area but i got a scary story to tell you.. I was about 11 years old and i woke up in the middle of the night and could have swore that i saw someone in the corner of my room. The room was slightly lit so i saw a face and it was just staring at me and then vanished.. Lets just say i didn't get out of bed to go pee. i waited for first light. I never saw it since but omg scary.

If we're talking theories how about the possibility of astral travel while sleeping? Almost everyone has had a dream where they are falling and suddenly wakeup. Some people believe that the falling sensation is caused by the astral projection of a person returning to their body.

I can't say anything in my apartment has ever moved while I slept. I have the entire layout memorized even so I don't need lights.

they say the soul of the dead walk this earth after they die ive see them. they also help us in what we feel base on what they feel. like a circle

It really does make you wonder what really does happen to you when you sleep at night. What things are happening around you at the time. Think about it next time you feel sleepy.

i've had things be moved in the morning when i have put them somewhere else the night before. Also our cat had passed away and he would still curl up on my bed with me when i went to sleep every night.

i would like to say that alot of people really can't explain what happens at night when they sleep..although i have to say that the things i believe that happen is something strange..although im not to sure if im the only one that see's this..

Anyways at night when people sleep things tend to happen for a reason then again it could just be your mind playing with you. But at night sometimes i hear things almost as though someone else is within the place..then agian there isn't anyone there. But when i wake up in the morning things are different..why is that..i believe its just something trying to show you something or tell you something.

I believe when i sleep things come to life..things start to do what they want knowing your asleep and not awake..when your awake they wont do nothing..but when you are asleep they will come out and play..there are things that come out and play and yet we cant seem to see them, but i think if you try hard enough you will see what it is..when i was little i always thought my dolls would come to life after i went to sleep..they would do things like play around..sneak around look around and all that.

But everyone is different but i also believe that if you have a high enough engery level it will draw things that you didn't expect. Or if you end up having a horrid fight then things seem to go wrong..or you get scared..its just the other side that is trying to tell you hey im here and well i need your help or i need you to look at this..things work out in many different ways..and well i believe that the spirits of the dead do what they can to get your attention..and if they dont thats when they start to become rude..

our reason makes us fools at these times.i have taken a short nap to awake and have had things moved around my place.im sure our world is not nearly as real and solid as some believe.our mind is always dreaming..

This last post has me thinking along a line of can dreaming possibly cause telekenisis of sorts? I am now going to have to try to find something regarding that on the web to see if there has been any articles regarding this....if I find anything I will be back to post the site in which I found it to share with all of you.

That is quite possible for astral projection sake, but I'd have to think it's mostly just dreaming rather than that.

These could be signs for the onset of Alzheimer's -- or the genetic predisposition for the illness. That, or Nargils :)

The only think that I do in my sleep is talk. especially if i'm with someone else like my friends. I tend to talk to them in my sleep. but that's about it.

Or if someone lived with said person they could have moved it.

I believe that when we are in a true state of sleep, our physical bodies are getting their rest but our spirits are free to roam about and do whatever they please. If simple everyday things are being moved around when you live alone, this might explain it. Or, it could be a restless spirit who is bored and wants to play head games with you. :) (It's probably completely harmless, as most spirits are.)

Surely...dreams are caused by your subconscious. It's a part of your physical body. The brain is a powerful organ, but again it's a physical thing. It's your spirit that is wandering around.

In some beliefs its said that without the spirit, the body would just be an empty shell. Couldn't the spirit some how be tied to all thought?

Hmm...well, I guess it all depends on your personal beliefs. No one can tell you whether or not your soul/spirit is part of your physical body or seperate. But it would be hard to believe - for me personally - that spirits are not a part of physical beings.

But, also on that note, that could be why sometimes we don't have a clue as to what we've dreamt...that our subconscious was out with our spirit while it was roaming. Now that's something to ponder! :)

Very true. I believe that may be part of the belief behind re-incarnation. The body is just a host or shell for which the spirit can inhabit, until the current body dies and it finds a new host to live with and have the process start over again.

*nods* Exactly! Reincarnation is your spirit that carries over to a new host once your physical body's lifespan has ended.

Which would explain why some remember past lives and the like.
