With the blessing of Cancer, the Guardians of Darkness are pleased to announce the updated Dark Network Profile Help Page.

It is a page where we have compiled websites, codes for fonts, pictures and backgrounds for basic members. For Premium members, it has sound codes, websites to get musicboxes and videos, it also shows you with pictures what each aspect of Cancer's default coding effects. This way you can build your own profile, to show your own creativity. There is also a tab for Navigation Boxes and Special Codes, such as right click disable and multi fade codes.

Please know that these are not the only codes that you can use. There are millions out there, but we just put together the most commonly used codes that work here on VR, but be warned, most of these codes were created with Internet Explorer in mind.

The following was a banner, created by LordVlkodlak and suggested by GrieviousDemon, that can be placed on your profile or House/Coven page, to refer people to the help page. The code includes making the Banner a direct link to the Dark Network profile help page.

To get the code, click Here.

This thread is to post any coding questions you are having with your profile, portfolio or journal or regarding coding in general. Please check the FAQ I have created, prior to posting in this thread. Thanks!!

... with all due respect ...

I know this thread is suppose to be used to provide help; and probably isn't the best place for a rant ... however, as one of the contributing members - I can think of no place better to put this.

In my personal opinion; I am honestly getting tired of seeing post after post after post of the membership looking a gift horse in the mouth; and not taking the time to actually comprehend the information that is stated over, and over, and over again. So ... let me see if I can put some of this into a perspective that the membership can understand.

No. 1 As part of the membership agreement; that page you agreed to when you created an account - be it free or paid - between you and Cancer; you as a member acknowledged that there is a VR Manual, there is a VR Terms of Service, and you agreed to read - understand - and comply with those documents. The volunteer administration has every prerogative to point a member to a manual if the question they are asking is plainly answered within it. You, as a member, were suppose to have read it anyways.

No. 2 Cancer did not create this site as an instrument to teach you, the membership, how to write HMTL, how to write CSS, how to develop web pages and weave coding together. To quote Cancer directly:
"Vampire Rave was designed as an online resource for the Vampire community. Our goal is to catalog everything there is to be cataloged about Vampires. This is an immense task and we have a long way to go. With your help we will become the largest Vampire database on the Internet."
~ Vampire Rave: Home Page
Note, that there is nothing in that statement that says anything about teaching you how to design web pages.

No. 3 Due to the fact that this site was created as a database, a repository of information; the Vampire Rave administration is not responsible to assist any member with HTML design. It is outside of the scope of the administration. Per the Vampire Rave Manual:
Acolyte's are Vampire Rave members who have agreed to assist new members with site questions or problems. If you have a question, submit it via the help page and an Acolyte will respond.

A Sentoran is a Profile, Portfolio, and Journal Administrator.
Acolytes have volunteered their time to assist the membership with problems related to their accounts or the functionality of the system. Sentorans are recruited to oversee member accounts (profiles, portfolios, journals) to ensure that they are in compliance with VR Rules and Standards. No where does it indicate that either of these roles have any knowledge or can assist you with coding issues. It is not a requirement; and they are not tested on that topic.

Prior to this thread and the Profile Help page; members who put a code into their profile, which caused their account to be in violation - received enough help to clear their entire profile and start over. The administration was not here to help you fix what was wrong ... only to tell you something was wrong and to go back and do it again.

No. 4 The Profile Help Page is not designed to teach you how to code. There is an unwritten expectation that you, the members, have an idea of how to code - this page only helps you to understand how the specifics of Vampire Rave can be customized while adhering to Terms of Service. It is a guide, for those members who have the ability. Just because you can change a tire on a car; does not make you a mechanic - don't make the same assumption from this page.

No. 5 The Profile Help Page was developed, designed, and deployed by LadyChordewa; Mistress of the Guardians of Darkness, and VR Sentoran. The pages were offered to Cancer to be made a permanent part of Vampire Rave. Cancer declined this request; and instead chose that the Guardians of Darkness would have the honor of hosting this information; making any updates that are necessary; and assisting the membership with any of their questions. Why? Because it is not the function or purpose of Vampire Rave to teach you how to code. However, as a Society within the Realm of VR; who is looking to assist the membership and to be a part of what makes VR thrive - as a Coven; the Guardians of Darkness have volunteered to do the work to provide the membership with this tool. A year ago, this tool did not exist for anybody - and if LadyChordewa so chose; the guide could disappear at the snap of her fingers ... why? Because it is something that she, and her Coven, offered to Cancer and Vampire Rave. It has His blessing; she has been recognized by Him for this donation; but that does not make it sanctioned by Vampire Rave.

Have I made these points clear yet?

This information is being provided by a good, kind-hearted person to help VR grow.

Cancer does not want this as an integrated part of His site.

The administration is not expected and is not asked to field any of these questions; or to teach or fix any coding issues. It is out of their charity if they choose to help you.

You are expected to read the Manual, to read the Terms of Service, and to participate in the Forums ... that's what this site is here for. Get up off your duffs and read something.

If any of the membership thinks that they can provide an easier tool, a better tool, another method ... stop asking. The hard work that has gone into this guide is not going to be given away freely; and it is not going to be transferred. If you have another system, another process, that you think is going to make a difference ... have the balls to put it in place and see what the membership thinks. But for the love of all things dead and holy - stop trying to get your recognition by riding on the shoulders of those who have already taken the chances and made the accomplishments.

LordVlkodlak is not the Metatron of Cancer; and does not speak for him. All references related to Cancer is derived from the VR Manual, Terms of Service, FAQ, or privelaged administrative messages.

The Dark Network Profile was made specifically with Cancer and his Network in mind. The coding that is used, some specifically were altered and made so that they would work on this site.

That is why I made this, because I kept trying the other coding from the other sites and they wouldn't work. So, I made a list of what does work and I continue to update it, as Cancer updates his coding.

Limitations put on the basic members, is for their protection and safety, as the coding that was stripped, allowed hacking.

Not quite sure what you mean by "darken" your page though. Could you explain?

The Opacity coding sometimes causes your profile to load slow. I would recommend finding a background, like a transparent png, to put in as the background.

Just set the color of your table to transparent.

Content

This table will sit on top of whatever is below it, and show whatever is below it.

EvilArmySlayer,

Feel free to go and search out a website to teach you how to do coding. Usually I found that it just takes trial and error for you to truly understand what does what. You may be coming back to this thread either way, as the coding here on the Darknetwork is different from the other coding out there. That is why I put this page together, of the coding that actually works here on the Darknetwork.

I have done my best to make all of the coding, easy by copy and paste and explained the reasons behind the coding and what it does. For premium members, I included in the CSS body section, pictures and all the coding that you could use in that area. I'm sorry if you find my efforts lacking.

If you find the DarkNetwork profile help lacking in some way, please contact me and tell me what you would like to see on it.

Thank you to the rest for all your support and compliments.

If you go to the DarkNetwork Profile Help Page, on one side, is all the coding for basic members, including text, that will tell you how to change the color of font, the style and size. The other side, is for premium members.

I have a question regarding opacity. In your description field for example, do you know of a way to filter opacity on the background without affecting the text in the foreground?

I haven't found a way other than making the opacity in the background itself but thought if there was a easier way I'd want to learn it. :)

I have found that creating a transparent png, in photoshop or imageready, is the best way to have a opaque background. Create it, then tile it in the profile description area, using the basic member background code and it should allow your background to be see through but not effect the text.

I have used the code to put a background on my profile. (Before the codes were changed and the scroll boxes taken away - it worked fine) the new code only puts my background up as a picture.

Am I doing something wrong or are there only certain pictures that are ok for a background now?

Daemona,

You made a very common mistake, when it came to putting a background on your profile. You used the coding:

&ltTABLEBORDER&gt&ltTR&gt&ltTDBACKGROUND=URL&gt

The problem generally occurs when a person forgets to use the Direct Link (starts with http://), on photobucket and doesn't replace the URL in the above code. So it should look like...

&ltTABLEBORDER&gt&ltTR&gt
&ltTDBACKGROUND=http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f114/MusicalMedic/Backgrounds2/Tiled/animated_59.gif&gt

Hope that helps

I talked to Rybaxx regarding his problem. In Internet Explorer, I don't see a problem with his page. But since he is using Opera, it is just simply how Opera interprets VR coding. If you check, on both Firefox and Opera, there is a red box around every vampire rave logo area, at the top of the profile.

Here is how you make links. This one opens a new window. Place the URL of the link, where it says URL. "Text here" is the words that would become the link.

There are a couple things that could be going on. If you have not activated your profile, then that could be happening.

What you need to do, is~~

go to edit profile

in the first box, type "Under Construction."

go down to the bottom of that box...and enter your password and hit submit.

That will activate your profile, allowing you to enter your age, location and put a background in your profile.

If that isn't it, just make sure that you are entering your password in correctly, before hitting submit.

Usually, you want to find a picture that has a width of about 650, it will give you a proper background and not tile side to side too much. I believe this picture will tile side to side, unless you resize it. But....here you go. Place the following at the top of your profile description area, before everything in your profile:

&ltTABLEBORDER&gt&ltTR&gt&ltTD BACKGROUND=http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r217/SexyKittyCat19/Sky.jpg&gt

Then place this, at the very end, after everything in your profile.

&lt/table&gt&lt/tr&gt&lt/td&gt

Since this is a basic background, it will only give you a background in the center section of your profile. To get a full blown background, you will have to purchase a Premium Membership.

Rybaxxx - I don't see pink on your profile and FF0000 is red. In your CSS section, add this

.table {text-align:justify;
color:White;
font-family:Verdana,Arial,Helvetica;
font-size:8pt;
font-weight:normal;
background:transparent;

Cheetahcry - Basically the coven and House pages use just a scrunched up CSS that you have on your profile. Take the CSS from your profile and delete all the spaces so that it looks like a long string of code.

With the next update, I will add in Coven page, but for now...Here is a basic Code that I use, to start creating a coven page. Place your background where it says BODY.

&ltstyle type="text/css"&gt
a.navbar:hover{color:Ghostwhite; Font-family: Copperplate Gothic Light; font-weight:bold;background-image:url(URL);} a:hover, a.link:hover, a.navbar:hover {background-image:url(URL); font-size:8pt; color:Ghostwhite; Font-family: Copperplate Gothic Light;text-decoration:none;border:1px solid;font-weight:bold;}a:hover img {background-image:url(URL); filter:alpha(finishopacity=0, forbidden2);border:1px solid;}a, a.man, a:link, a:visited{ color:Ghostwhite; Font-family: Copperplate Gothic Light;font-size 10pt;font-weight:bold; text-decoration:none;font-style:normal}a:active, a:hover{ color:Ghostwhite; Font-family: Copperplate Gothic Light;font-size:10pt;font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;font-style:normal;}td, table, tr, span, li, p, div, textarea, DIV, s9, s10, regular { color:Ghostwhite; Font-family: Copperplate Gothic Light;font-weight:normal;font-decoration:none;font-style:normal;background-color:transparent;}td, li, p, div, textarea {border-color:}table{border-color:}a.navbar{font-size:10pt;font-weight:normal}a.navbar:link{color:;}

Where it says URL, you need to place the direct link or http:// of the picture that you desire, in that area.

So, why do only premium members get codes for the scroll boxes? I have stuff I would like to post, but I don't want 100 pitures messing up my profile when I can just put them in a little box so only those interested can see them. Can you help me with that one? Those are scroll boxes that I'm talking about right? I don't do the whole computer thing very well...

Cancer is the owner of the DarkNetwork. The basic members of this network are restricted from using a div style code. Technically basic members are restricted from using any style code. Which includes scrollboxes, music boxes and some navigational boxes. Basic membership is restricted due to a computer safety issue that Cancer has come across.

If you wish to use scroll boxes, you will need to buy a premium membership, where you have less restrictions of the coding you can use.

rexenabflowdjf, I would not recommend doing that.

If a member were to slightly mess up the coding, their personal message center could be affected adversely, in a way Cancer alone would have to fix. I wouldn't suggest anyone give the man any more work that he already has on his plate. Every time we go to him to fix issues like this that could have been avoided, we take time away from the expansion of The Dark Network.

So, 'this' specific help should not be advertised :)

AnimeKikei,
You can use this site: http://www.draac.com/rainbow.html to generate the code to make your text multi-colored. Basically, what it does it puts in the HTML font color code for each individual letter - and will make it difficult to edit in the future.

rexenabflowdjf,

I would strongly recommend that you go back and read the response from VR Regent imagesinwords whom already answered your question the first time you asked it.

Everyone can have a background, it just will be different.

Basic member's backgrounds, are only behind the profile description area, down the center of the profile. You can find out how to put a background by going to the Profile help page and clicking on "BasicBG".

Premium Member's backgrounds you will see, are completely covering the whole page. You can find out how to put a background by going to the Profile Help page and clicking on "CSS Body".

You can go to the Profile help page and click on "Sounds." It gives you two codes that allows you to install music on your profile. One installs it in the background, the other gives it a little media player that plays it.

Raziel,

Excellent question. I have spoken at length with Cancer regarding the difference between profiles on Vampire Rave and Sci-Fi section.

As he explained in his Sci-fi thread, throughout all of the Dark Network, the profile description area of your profile, will stay the same. As a premium member, you can change the CSS of your VampireRave and Sci-fi Section profiles and they will be separate. You will see a difference in Cancer's profiles.

Cancer's Vampirerave profile

Cancer's SciFi Section profile

The Sci Fi section has the wonderful ability to build your CSS, with a CSS generator. It will allow the most novice of coders to use it. I am told by Cancer, that he WILL NOT be updating VR to have the same ability. He assured me that the Dark Network Profile Help page will continue to have its uses, for basic members and future Vampire Rave members.

I hope this answers your question.

Yours,

LadyChordewa

Cancer has changed what is allowed for basic members and premium members, as a safety issue. When he changed it, the word "style" would be stripped from your coding, unless you were a premium member.

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to come up with another way of doing scroll boxes for basic members.

Unfortunately, Moonkissed, myspace scrollbox generator, starts with a style sheet, which will be stripped by Cancer's coding if you are a basic member.

The member you were speaking to and any member that is basic and has a scrollbox on their profile, probably put it on there, before the change in coding and has not updated their profile yet. When they do update, it will strip the coding.

You can get backgrounds anyplace on the internet, but if you want to use a profile builder but don't want to be suspended, here is a simple fix.

Disregard any coding that is outside the "style" at the beginning and the "style" at the end. Anything else with the coding, is the advertisement. Generally they started with an "Embed" or html code.

Feel free to send LordVlkodlak or myself a note and we would be more than willing to tell you what to get rid of, so you don't get suspended.

Before I start, I just wanted to say thanks for the help to all those that answer questions noob coders like me have, especially LadyChordewa. And yes, I got the page fixed I asked you about in PM, thanks so much!

I just wondered if anyone could answer why when I place a table on a Society page it ends up with a huge space of blank page between the title graphic and the table, despite the fact I have no gaps in my coding?

Thanks again :D

Cancer's coding doesn't like spaces. For a Table code to work in a Society page, it has to be all scrunched together with no spaces. Try it, it worked for me!!

Looking at my profile code recently I came to wonder if there is a

    code that allows for the use of an image graphic as a bullet. The new code restrictions don't allow that anymore and would like to know if there's a new way to do that now. :)

For those of you using FireFox and want to get rid of the annoying orange background, of the VampireRave logo on your profile, or journal.. Add the following to your CSS:

TR{background: transparent;}

That should fix it.

Ok, I use the red default premium layout. I have used a code to make everything transparent, except the center table (where the description is), because i want the background image to stay as is... now, my question is this: how do i make that one not scroll? I don't want the image to scroll.

oh, I don't know if this helps, but I used the "regular member" background code to put it in there..

In your CSS, look for: tddescriptionmain

That is what controls the main area, behind the middle of your profile. Instead of the basic member coding, place the following, with your URL into your CSS.

.tddescriptionmain {background: #000000 url (URL) repeat fixed;

I know you covered this before, but the CSS code I used for a coven page isn't working entirely. like all the tables are suppose to be transparent and they aren't, and the center background image doesn't show up. all the codes affecting the main background, and the fonts works...
and I scrunched it up like you said *scratches head*

All of this is seriously wonderful...

I have created my entire two profile pages without the help of your network pages. I am sure it would have been helpful to use them.

Unfortunately, I have tried EVERYTHING I know how to do to read the page. I can read the whole thing, but I can never get the navigation menu/picture thing in the center to show up.

The page says it is designed for Internet Explorer. I have the last edition of this and still can't see the page properly. I have 'refresh'ed the page and nothing works.

I want the code for a navigation box that is designed for a premium member. I have wanted it since creating my page, but I have never been able to get the code for a single one.

I still want that code...How do you suggest I go about getting it when I have tried for months to do it on my own and even asked people (who can load the page) to get one for me. I still don't have it. I don't know why. My every attempt has met with failure.

Where is says to put the code in the css style sheet in the bottom box, put it at the very end, after the < / style >.

For the box itself to show up, that coding needs to go into your main/top info box. Just remember that you are dealing with two separate codes...One for the top box, and one for the bottom.

As always...Copy/Paste your profile information onto your desktop in the form of a new notepad. This way you always have a fresh back up copy that VR may not be up to par with.

I appreciate your telling me about your problem, viewing our pages. I will message you personally, to help you through this. Next time, just send me a note, as many people do, in regards to trouble understanding or trouble with my pages.

You might want to check that you are allowing popups. At the top of the Dark Network profile help page, it does state that you have to allow popups, to view the page, as each page will open a new window. That might be the problem.

I believe the "things you put between each things" that you are talking about, is called a divider. You can find those anywhere on the internet

If you are interested, instead of a divider, you can put a marquee sign in, that will scroll text sideways. Unfortunately, I don't have the coding, but you can again search the internet for it.

I'm not sure if this helped. I hope it did.

Is the side-by-side scroll what you would use for a picture on one side and a scroll on the other, or is there a separate code for that? I saw it on someone's page and liked it.

I am also miffed at the nav. bar. They aren't really that great. I don't like the menus being underneath the one as it makes it hard to choose and then read, choose and then read. The other is good, but every time I mess with it the color scheme on my fonts disappears. It is freaking me out. I spent a ton of time on coloring my text.

Under the heading Scrollboxes, I have "Side by Side". That has the coding for two scrollboxes, right next to each other but independent of one another.

As for the problems with the navigation boxes, I would have to see the coding, to see what's going on. Generally, its something simple that is forgotten or added.

If you wish to send me a pm, I will do my best to help you.

A lot of people, are willing to create you a VR layout, you just need to look around. I will not name names here, as it is up to the people, if they are interested. I would recommend that you post an advertisement, for profile help, in the Love me Section of the VR Main Forums.

Or you can try to do it yourself, using the profile help page. Either way.

Hi - I was wondering if you could assist me with something.

I noticed that whenever I "sort" anything and they try to go back - I get a "warning page has expired". When I hit back again I go back to the Rave but I have to re-sort.

Is this an issue with settings on my computer or are others having this issue too?

Thank you for taking the time to read......

Nedra:

Regarding the sorting issue: It's not just you.

You have two options.

1) There is a little more info on the page that pops up when you have this issue.

Webpage has expired:

Item 1: Most likely cause: The local copy of this webpage is out of date, and the website requires that you download it again.

Item 2: What you can try: Click on the Refresh** button on the toolbar to reload the page. After refreshing, you might need to navigate to the specific webpage again, or re-enter information.

**In Firefox, the Refresh Button is the Reload Button.

If you do Item II, it should bring you back to the page with your sort intact.

Note: This only happens on the first page of sorted entries. Once you are finished with the first page and go to the "Next 15", you should no longer have the problem.

2) You can do a sort, then right click over the Profile/Portfolio Name or Link you want to visit and open the it in a new Window or Tab (the option you select depends on what Browser (IE vs FF) and Setup you have).

To get the glow around your profile letters, you need to split it up, similar to scrollboxes.

In the CSS section, put the following:

&ltstyle type="text/css"&gt
Div.Glow {
width:100%;
filter: glow(Color=BLUE,Strength=9);}&lt/style&gt

The strength, is the intensity that the glow is. Play with it, to find the intensity that you like.

In your profile description area, place the following:

&ltdiv class="Glow"&gt&ltfont size="5" face="Comic Sans MS" color="RED"&gt

Your words here

&lt/font&gt&lt/div&gt

Also know, that this is something that is IE specific. Firefox users will not be able to see this text glow.

At this point, until I can sit down and figure out the skins and the new CSS, myself and LordV are not going to be much help. Cancer has updated the CSS to have more specific control, on different aspects of your profile, coven pages and mentorships. Hence, why your profiles and everything look different. I did my fair share of scrambling to fix my profile, last night.

One of the things that I will be doing is revamping the profile help page, once I figure out and understand the changes.

Please be patient with us, we will help, when we can.

LadyNeferata - I would recommend doing an internet search for "text cursor". There are several different styles out there and I'm not sure which you would prefer.

HardBiter - I will send you a pm, to see if I can help clear things up for you.

Ok....from what I am seeing...some points to point out.

First, there are now alot of options that you can do, to your profile and your account. The skins, are similar to the skins used on yahoo. It is used, to allow you to view VampireRave, as you wish. Either in VR classic with several different colors or some of the new layouts.

Also, with the skins, you are given a graphics folder. Cancer has been said, that you are welcome to upload a new graphic, to replace the ones that he has, but simply keep the same file name.

Next, Your profile, is forced. Which means, no matter what skin the person is using, it will go to the one that you choose for it.

Example: If Cancer chooses to view things in VR Classic, but your profile is in Cimmerian Red, he will see your profile in Cimmerian Red layout.

Unfortunately, your House/Coven pages and mentorship pages, do not follow that rule. As in, it will change with the skin that the person has chosen.

One thing, to point out. Most profiles that used a Myspace generator or something like it, will not work on this network anymore, per Cancer. He has been extremely specific in his CSS, to allow us more control and more variety. The default CSS is still the same, as it was before the changes. So, you can still use the Profile Help page for those aspects. It is recommended that you take that default CSS, create it and then collaspe it, for your Coven/House pages. What I mean by collaspe, is to have no spaces between the different aspects.

Finally, when in doubt, check Cancer's Forum thread named "Layout and Skin Support", where he is answering all the questions, regarding the new upgrade.

LadyChordewa:

You're an angel in disguise!

Thanks so much for the the advice regarding setting up Coven Pages under the new Updates.

I have been using a CSS Style Sheet for Coven Pages that has been there for a while and just updated it to suit the theme I wanted--and also used the same styling for my Mentorship. It seems many stylesheets have been passed down and non-essential codes and styles are just being used, reused, duplicated and added to causing a mess.

It's a pain to do all of the work over, but after reading the part about collapsing the CSS Style Sheet, I just had to try it! I started with one of Cancer's Premium SKin Layouts and then "collapsed" the data as you suggested. I pasted the Stylesheet onto a blank Mentorship page, made the changes I wanted and it came out perfectly! I've made a basic template in my notepad, and now I just make changes, as needed, and apply them to Coven, Mentorship and even Journal Pages.

Thanks again for all of your help!

Glad to help, PsiVampire. The Profile Help page will help you to a point, but Cancer has gotten more specific with his layouts and what you can control.

Someone will be contacting you, to help you out NFA. I think the Main problem with yours, is that it looks like you forgot to add to your CSS, the box description to allow your Navigation boxes and your scroll boxes to work. We will do our best to help you, figure it out.

To be honest, while the profile help page is a great tool, especially for those that do not know how to code, it's also a good thing if you research CSS coding (Premium account holders, this is for you). Even for basic members, research how to do HTML if you do not know how. It'll help you out a LOT when you create your profile.

I will have been here a year in December and I still use it, I even have this saved under my beloved threads and the page under my bookmarks.. heh

I would recommend you scroll up in this thread. I posted the script that Cancer recommends, to post in your CSS, to make your middle section....or about me section and every other section invisible.

This might sound like a stupid question but oh well lol

How do you put words on side of your pictures? I see some profiles that have a pic and then words on the side. I hope I am explaining it right

If you are referring to the Text Area, you do it the same way you did on your Profile. In any of the fields you wish to make transparent you replace the hex color code with transparent, i.e.:

background: #000000

to

background: transparent

However, as with Mentorships and Covens, you need to collapse the coding in order for it to work properly.

I would like to have the CSS code style sheet.

I ruined it and can only have two backgrounds, the outer one and the description area one.

I want a bg for the comments section etc...but even though I copy and pasted the style sheet on a word doc, it still did not load all.

Please help me :(

I can send you one that works if you need. Now did you place the coding that must go into your style sheet and then the one for your description.

VampireDavid,

If your music box is showing up, above the VR logo, then you are putting it in the CSS section and it violates the TOS. It should be in the profile description area (first box of edit profile).

xxxPassionxxx,

If you go to the Profile help page called tddescription, it will show you how to add a background to that area.

But be warned, it will add it to your profile area also.

Hope this helps.

LadyChordewa

This will allow the Background to be fixed as the text scrolls over it. There are two ways to write it:

BODY { background: #000000 url(URL) repeat fixed;

or add

Background-attachment: fixed:

The instructions are on the Dark Network Profile Help Page under Text Styles:

Different Text Styles

To add a glow text to your coven/house page, it is a slightly different code.  You still have two
codes, one for the CSS style sheet and one for the actually words that you want to glow. First place this at the end of your style sheet in the coven page:

Now add the following code before the text that you want to glow.

Your text here

If you are trying to change the font, in the area that you posted, that would be under the Table coding in your CSS.

TABLE {
text-align:justify;
color:#FFFFFF;
font-family:Times New Roman;
font-size:12pt;
font-weight:bold,
font-style: normal or italic
}

I do not understand the coding for being able to put a scrollbar in the profile. I am very bad at all things web design and have ADHD which makes certain things almost impossible to learn unless someone walks me through it. If someone could please message me about this, I would greatly appreciate it!

I have found it extremely irritating to try, and post a background, and yet I can't do it. Why? because I'm not premium. Why would I want to pay for a site I don't even know what the benefits are like for it. If I spent the money there could be a chance I would like the site, and then again If I spent it there would be that chance that I dislike whatever premium members get, and I have cigarettes to spend 4 dollars on. Those are very important, and I do like them. :)

You have the option to get a premium membership for one month, for around $5. With Premium membership you get the option of having different backgrounds, the ability to see who rated you last, file storage, who is stalking you, who is reading your journal and the ability to have different layouts for your profile.

As a basic member, you can only have a partial background located in your main profile area. There are a lot of different ways to spice up your profile. It all depends on you.

If you look on the Profile Help page, look under CSS Body. In each of those sections, there are pictures, that show, what controls what. Most of what you are talking about are tablewindows, but you would have to check to be sure.

Thank you Wallflower. As some of you know, I will be closing the doors of the Guardians of Darkness in April. Nightgame, the AHM of the House of Umbrae Octo, has offered to host the profile help page, within their walls.

I am working on revamping the profile help page to be hosted in her house, including a new banner, to put on your profiles. When that happens, I will close this thread and open another, with the updated banner and links.

I want to thank all the Covens that have offered to host the profile help page and thanks to all that have offered support during this time.

I just got a windows 7 upgrade on my pc. I previously had windows vistas.

All the fancy fonts like vivaldi and others dont show on windows 7. They just show as plain arial font.

At least that's what it is doing to me.

Does anyone else with the new Windows 7 notice this too?

It's probably because the font didn't come with windows 7.

I have windows 7 on my laptop but have not came across any of that kind of font. Well, at least to my knowledge.

If you want it to show up again, you'll probably have to find the font and download it.

lol what you want to do is download the font.

Once you have the font, you take it and move it into your windows font folder.

You go to:

Start-

Computer-

Hard Drive C:

Windows

and then the Font's folder.

Move the Font into that folder and it will install.

None of my OS's came with the amount of fonts VR supports. I got a copy of office '07 a few months ago and when that was installed, my PC automatically displayed all of the fonts. Your Vista probably came with a trial of MS office, or something of that sort, that you lost when you upgraded.

I checked your Profile by using View Page and it appears there is some CSS Coding at the beginning of your Profile Description Area. This particular coding only works when placed in the Style Sheet Code Area on Premium Accounts.

If you click on your Edit Profile link, you should be able to fix the problem by removing the CSS Coding which appears to be right before the BASIC BG Coding on your Profile Desciprion Area.

Should you wish to have a background, you should only use the coding for BASIC BG as shown here:

Background For Basic Member

Any questions, please feel free to message me.

Within the next few days, the Guardians of Darkness will be disbanded and the profile help link will not work.
I will be closing this thread, when this happens.

As soon as I can, I will set up the new Profile help page and start a new thread, with updated links and banner.

I appreciate your patience during this process.
