Ever noticed that those who have a "dark" mind are often very creatively talented in one way or another?
In our community we have writers, artists, poets, singers, and philosphers that differ from all other social backgrounds.
What is it about embracing our darker side that has led to this creative genius amongst us?
Or is it simply that some are born with this creativity in their blood, and through chance find their way to our sub-culture?
Personally, I believe that those with a truly creative mind will always embrace their morbid side, when given the proper chance!
What are your views on this subject? Are you an artist, poet or anything else that involves a certain amount of creative spark?
My friend Nick had some things to say on the subject, but since he doesn't have an account, I offered to post for him! ^_^
Personally I think you're close. The real thing is that the cuture has such artistic diversity compared to any other.
And vampires have a certain finesse and love for delicate arts, so naturally those of that inclination wish to follow the aristocratic nature of the vampire.
Gothic culture is art though, everything has an element of it - hair, clothes, music, furnature, buildings, all is artistic in design.
But the whole kinda gothic fokelore vampires, magic, necromancy, angels to an extent, is great material for art as it has the widest spectrum of possibilities.
~Thank you to Nick :)
I always have thought that people who see the world as this perfect place and are always happy, are so narrow minded. They seem like sheep. They use all their imagination to hide the truth and make everything happy go lucky.
I agree with you, that people who see more of the morbid dark side of life are way more creative. We more or less feed off of it and are able to produce beautiful art work that really represents the world in the way it should be seen.
I don't think that that's strictly true. I have come across so many creative people who have a much firmer grasp on the brighter things than the darker.
I think that what allows someone to be entirely creative to the point of genius is a certain amount of insanity. Without that, they tend to think inside the square.
I agree with the notion that those who are creative embrace their entire selves, including the dark, the light, the beauty and the ugly. But, this doesn't necessarily mean that they're dark sorts of people. I have found that they are often more open minded than those who are creatively disabled, so that allows them to embrace the morbid as well as the sunshine, rainbows and lollipops. I have also noticed that they're more opinionated than others, and often topics that bring out the strong opinions are morbid, or have a touch of darkness to them.
Fantastic explanation, Babaganoosh :)
I agree, and I didn't mean that they only embrace their dark side, it's just that they aren't afraid to, unlike most others!
Also, MOTC, yes, the world is far from perfect!
Allowing to be different (dark side) frees the mind. Do not care what others think as much. Then the mind is free to work/create . Brings freedom to express.
Because morbid people are more creative with their look, thus more creative with everything. You're not gonna see bimbos walking down the street getting famous off of writing a book because they're too busy trying to fit in with society and have an average life. We take things to the extreme and try to have to most creative and fun life possible, cuz that's what living is.
i believe that one should embrace all sides to themselves.i do write poetry as well as stories. i am also in the process of writing a book.
i think that everyone has creativity inside of them.some just don't realize it until later on in life.
In my experience they tend to be very deep individuals. They feel things to the extreme. My mother was a very talented Artist and my aunt owns an art museum in Missouri and is a great oil paintist. I think they tend to be more open minded and inquisitive.
the main reason is that by letting drakness envelops we allow ourselve more freedom of speech less blockage or limits,we allow ourselves to open up and speak up, our mind is pushing down the barriers and allwoing us to create wonders
An article written on this subject is at this LINK.
I also agree that a darkly creative mind borders on insanity. One of my favorite artists is an excellent example, Salvadore Dali. A quote by him even says it well. "The only difference between me and a madman is that I'm not mad."
I think that sometimes darkness and creativity go hand in hand, but not always. I have known a lot of people who embrace their darkside and are creative, but I have known others who embrace their darkside but are not necessarily as creative as others. I also know people who see the lighter side of things and are still creative. Though their stories, poems, drawings, songs are sometimes completely different from the ones someone who embraces their darker side might create. I think anyone can be creative, dark or not. I think those who embrace the darker side write from a different perspective than those who embrace the lighter side of things.
im pretty dark and make some pretty crazy shit. i find i have more freedom and people tend not to judge my work because of how scary i look
Fantastic article temporary2 :)
horrorock I think some people have the same reaction towards me sometimes - they probably think "Meh, drawing dead people is probably normal wherever she grew up" >.>
Lol!
I think the bottom line is, the more open the mind, the more room for creativity.
The appreciation of all things dark, light and everything inbetween .
in all walks of life we will find creative people. its not being dark, light, or any where inbetween. Its how they tend touse thier minds. We all have creativity in us we just dont know how to use it
I think that those of us who are drawn to the darker side of life and ourselves are more willing to embrace things that are not 'normal' or mainstream and more able to express that through our creativity
I've written poetry for the majority of my life, and it seems the only time I can turn out anything decent is when I'm depressed or angry. I had a spiritual advisor who told me that was because the darkness had become so comfortable for me that I was scared the explore any genuine happiness. She might be right. I also think it's because when I am happy my life is usually full of people and events, so I devote less time to writing overall.
ive also found the stuff i write is pretty dark but the stuff i make is oretty full of life
As an artist and inventor, my dark side gives me more of a range to work with. I'm also more openminded.
I don't believe that it is the "dark" side of our nature that brings out the creativity as it is there no matter what...if you have it you have it...but I do believe that because people who have "dark" natures are more open minded then those who are not and are not afraid to explore that side of them and it an outlet in which they can express themselves.
I don't think that people with a darker nature are necessarily any more creative or intelligent than those who are not.
What I do believe is, that people who are familiar with, or who follow a darker path, tend to be more open-minded, open to more situations, not afraid to delve into the negative side of things, and take more chances. So, the more experiences and knowlege you have, the more you have to share and express.
Personally, I can't take it when people are all (from the "odd Couple), "Happy and Peppy and Bursting with Love" all of the time. They are the ones who, to me, seem to be in less touch with reality. I was always drawn to things that were on the darker side. Vampires, Horror movies and books...Halloween. I even prefer listening to music that has the darker, minor chords as opposed to the uplifting major chords.
My special Holiday from childhood, even over Christmas, has always been Halloween. One of the reasons; in costumes, people are not afraid to be themselves, and don't seem to be as judgemental. People who would never talk to me any other time, would. But once they saw who you were or what you looked like under the mask and were once again amongst their friends--it was like you never existed. Halloween was the one day I felt I fit in.
As for expression, 90% of the projects and pieces I did in my graphic design course were about vampires and the darker side of things. It was a creative outlet for me. A lot of people thin you are a little tetched in the head when talking about dark things, so they way for me to show my passion was/is artistically.
I'm not even sure if this is a response to the question or not; apologies for the incessant rambling.
I do not feel that someone who is creative is from a darker sense of direction. A very talented and creative person who has a grip on reality and life usually have the best ideas for the darker side as well as the happier side. We as a society try to pretend that the morbitiy and darkness is always evil and taboo yet we want more books and more movies about them.
The ones who write or make them are just feeding society what they want because they fear so much and are closed minded to the fact that so many things do happen out there that is morbid and evil (dark). They tend to close their minds to it where others open their minds to it and craete from it.
I mean I love the darker things in life yet, I am a very happy person and can also write the whole happy happy ending stuff and it is ok. Yet, reality check is that their is alot of ewvil out their, so why not write about it or make movies about it, maybe the sheep will wake up and realize it is not always just a book or a movie that these things do happen in the world.
To me a creative person has to pull from every resource there is in this world and work with it no matter if it is dark or light .... most creative people have a better grip on reality than most I feel. not that they are doomed to darkness and dispair. just making a living and going with what sells...
I mean to me Stephen King seems to have a pretty good grip on things and a bankacct to prove it LOL
just my opinion is all.
Since I work with ezines, I have noticed that those that have a darker aesthetic seem to be more intune with their inner self. From that base they seem to be able to tune into things in a very intense manner. Even in regard to energy the negative energy is what creates worm holes and other creative factors. I don't think people are dark or light I just think their interests go into one direction or another. No one can be one-sided. Who defines what is dark, so it is sort of perceptional and relative? Not everyone is interested in the same things for instances occultists are thought of as dark but I can assure you that some do not have an interest in morbidity. It's an individual factor I think and depends on the person as far as where their interests will expand.
It's because of the sensitivity. =) More sensitive, therefore, more prone to feeling heavy about things, and also more creatively expressive.
Without the dark we would not have the light, but most certainly if we did not have the light there would be no dark!
Excellent posts! How about if we say that those we can create the easiest have the strongest grip on reality?
Where would you all stand then?
hmm maybe if you see from the dark side, you can also know whats on the bright, therefore your that much more open in your mind to create
the dark side huh I think these individuals are more intune their heart and soul and the creative side is more dominant with them, while the others are so in a rush where emotions or the beauties of the world escape their sight.
I think creativity is a natural side effect of opening your mind. In my experience, most 'dark' people are quite open, thereby generally more creative. However, it's just as likely for a 'light' person to be creative as a 'dark' one - as long as they maintain an open mind.
I would guess (and certainly, that's all it is), that many of us see the flaws of main-stream society's thoughts and customs. Recognizing those problems leaves us somewhat less affectionate toward them, though there are two sides to that concept as well. There are those who rank above society, and those who rank below it in terms of critical thought over blind acceptance.
Those who note the failings of society as a whole are likely those with both the intellect to recognize the failings, and the independence to follow their own mind. Those two traits are quite often held by the more creative among us. The rest are just mindless robots chasing the next fashion, riding the bandwagon and leaving creativity for the capable.
The warning to all who qualify is this; those less creative, less intellectual and less prone to critical thought will hate you for your ability; shun your ideas, and seek to destroy you by any means necessary.
xXanarchyfangsXx,
Re: "Without the dark we would not have the light, but most certainly if we did not have the light there would be no dark!"
From a philosophical standpoint I believe I grasp your intent and agree. From a more literal standpoint; dark is simply the absence of detectable photons. Such a state does not require the presence of photons.
I honestly believe that people who show their "Dark" sides are more creative because they have let themselves become in tune with all sides of their being.
Perhaps they're simply less prone to conforming without cause?
well said Troll Queen, I write, and some people just might take it the wrong way, but being able to grasp the full understanding of things those happy bunny type people some times just dont understand it
LOL @ Ladydarkrayne. I think that most of us here are just different. And in a good way. i mean, who here wants to be some brainwashed retarded California rich kid that can't even spell typewriter? Um, not me! most of us are weird and eccentric and very intelligent. And to me that is a very beautiful thing.
I think that those with a creative mind are more open to exploring dark things and those things that are outside of the box. I think that it's the creativity lending to the darkness and not the other way around.
I have found that the supposedly darker things in life are a fantastic attraction to people who are generally on the right side of the bell curve of intelligence and creativity. Shunned and not openly embraced by main-stream society, the perversions of vampires, gothic and the like are embraced by many of us as a safe and comfortable place. A place where we can be ourselves, and express ourselves without encountering the ostracism of the rest of society. Also, a place that the rest of society doesn’t normally go out of their way to frequent. Our self-imposed banishment from main-stream society, oddly enough, is exactly what some of us were trying to avoid having doled out to us from society in the first place. This could also be viewed as an effort not to conform to society’s expectations and so, we congregate into various sub-cultures. So, through an effort not to conform we ultimately conform.
Anyway, I’m off on a tangent (easy to do, sorry). So, finally we find ourselves in a comfortable place where we are free from the expectations of the main-stream and are allowed and, in fact, encouraged to create and express anything we fancy. Whether that be something “dark” or “light”. For example right here at this site, I have stumbled across far more things that were very beautiful and filled me with “light” than things that were haunting to my soul. Although, there may be one or two of those around here as well. Personally, the freedom to express ourselves in the company of other open-minded individuals in of itself is a wonderful and beautiful thing, regardless of the subject matter.
I believe that it takes both the dark and the light to be able to tap into the creativity that is within people. Being able to adjust to both sides makes you more tuned into your inner self and that is what sparks the creativeness. We are all creative in different ways and that is what makes things very interesting.
I would have to agree with DarkxWhisper, Sinora, and several others on this as well.
I believe on of the major things connecting creativity to the darker lifestyles is the need for self-expression. I find that most of us in the gothic subculture dress and act the way we do as a means of expressing our thoughts, emotions, and individuality. One who is creative also possesses the need for self-expression, so it is only natural that the two go together.
I myself have a dark and creative side to me. I do it in drawings.
When I am in a dark mood, that's when I come up with my best ideas and more interesting artwork. I tend to think and brood more when I'm in a dark mood. The creative juices flow. When I'm in a happy place, I am more likely to watch TV or something.
VanDick Oh Im the same way I come up with my besy creations when I am in a darl mood, doesnt happen to often but when it does it simply amazes me.
To me, Darkness and creativity come hand in hand, because when you look into the dark sky or in your dark closet, you could be looking at anything -vv-
Yes they certainly do, I mean look at some of the authors , Stephen King Dean Koonz Ann rice al of them darkness and creativity to the brink of darkness and beyond.
Yes, I mean, me personally, i like to divine the darkness for images and thoughts etc. So when i look into the darkness, i could be inspired to write anything! -vv-
There are some brilliant artists on the lighter side of things as well..and some artists go back and forth between dark creations and light.
I think the more creative and open a mind, the wider expanse there is for exploration.
No, I don't agree.
Being dark doesn't mean someone will be more creative than someone who isn't.
It depends onm the person.
Some people are naturally creative. Others aren't.
There are a lot of people who are 'dark' who are about as creative as a brain dead rock.
I agree, Luna..
The idea that darkness perpetuates creativity doesn't really stand firm. Your creative mind takes you one way or the other at any given point and, while it could be affected by either, I don't believe it's induced by either.
Indeed.
Creativity also [to a certain extent] has something to do with the person's upbringing.
Some people are brought up around athletics and are thus athletes.
Others are brought up around artists and become so themselves.
However, I believe it's possible for a person to be creative even if they're of the 'lighter' side.
People can draw creativity from darkness-light-grey w/e but for some of us, it is from darknes which our true creativity is drawn. -vv-
SkylarWolvesvein -
Why would darkness be the main thing in which from creativity is drawn? Wouldn't it be the 'light' since many seem to fear the 'dark'?
It's interesting how our creative minds impact our lives and the directions they take.
For instance it's said that those with a musical creativity have a better tendency toward heightened hand eye coordination...things like typing, the ability to learn secondary languages, even how quickly they catch on to video games. All of those things can be spurned from the creative mind and can affect job choices, hobbies, and the like.
I find myself wondering which of the different types of creativity we have as natural talent might tend to turn us toward a darker lifestyle and if there's anything to that.
Nista -
♦ ''For instance it's said that those with a musical creativity have a better tendency toward heightened hand eye coordination...things like typing, the ability to learn secondary languages, even how quickly they catch on to video games.''
I believe that's because within those different things you have to learn to use your hands more, be better with them so you don't mess up with what you're doing. Your hands gain a lot of attention when studying those things and thus become better useful.
So do you think that we can train ourselves to be more creative by immersing ourselves in things that are geared toward creativity?
If so then with a bit of effort, say one had a tendency toward a lighter creative mind..they could, with practice, expand it.
Yes. Usually people raised around different arts tend to take an interest in them and try to get better at it.
This is what people go to art school for, no?
Some people have natural creativity, but it may not be fully developed until they spend time perfecting it.
But what of someone that is perhaps just "not the creative sort"?
Do you think that creativity is something that can be completely learned or do you think that one has to have certain base talents?
Everyone has talent with in them. If someone doesn't have any talent at all, that doesn't mean they can't learn to be somewhat creative, does it?
Regardless of the amount of creativity, everyone can have it and/or learn it.
Although ... admittedly learned does not beat out inherited or natural.
I dont feel that Dark minds are anymore creative than light ones.To even think that is ludicris. What? is sorrow and horror life's main inspirations? No way.I have seen exceptional creativity and talent on both sides and have known many to find insiration in both light and dark things.
creativity is packaged differently for every individual. Some people have none whatsoever. When it comes to darkness, it depends on your definition. Many creative people struggle with their internal demons throughout the creative process. The battle can yield a fertile ground from which inspiration springs, but many give up the fight and let the darkness take over.
so glad i found this thread.. Iám a writer and an artist.
I have been writing since i was a kid! for me i think my childhood plays a big part in who iám today and i often wonder if i had a good home, if i was loved would i write and draw like i can now?
Would i even write or draw?
Thats a good question tho? most ppl i know are dark souls, and are artistic.
I think thats why i love hip hop so much, because i can say it how i feel and not be judged, cause its just hip hop.
I am an "in the closet" writer. Haven' had the courage to post anything yet. However, I've been told various times that I have talent.
I think to truly appreciate the beauty in life you need to embrace the darkness as well. An understanding of both is what gives is the abilty to put things into perspective, and do it well too. Whether it be writing or art.
but then i dont really know anyone that isnt creative!
i think we all are...give a monkey a paint brush and paper? say no more.
were all creative.
well i think...
that most creativity come from pain or suffering
n alot of people that have gone through this
often embrace the "dark" side
altho i think it comes from eperience to
you get other that dont ebrace the dark side to
just alot of great things come from
people that have gone through alot in theyre time :]]
"so glad i found this thread.. Iám a writer and an artist.

I know I do..well,I dont write, but I do draw,am a musician and alot of other artistic things.Ive had a great life, and my art doesnt come from pain or suffering. So,I think its just the person, and nothing to really do with dark or light as far as talent or creativity..but more, what inspires an individual. And "dark" isnt anymore inspiring than "light" as a whole.
Well we are talking here about sensibilities I would guess but the dark existed first. The universe is made up of something like 96 percent dark energy and matter. Other matter is only 4 percent. They know this because they sent a probe; WMAP to the center of the universe. Dark has never been a good word to describe those folks who are interested in a certain side of life as opposed to another. It is all a perception and viewpoint in this area. If you like to garden and I prefer to try my skills out practicing magick, why is one light and the other dark...it's just a difference in interest? Dark is a very misleading word. Dark to me is the serial killer.
when your in a dark place. you dont really think about anything else. just the thing that causes you pain. if its the lost of a love one that lost will inspire you to created something so beautiful.
"Though Pain Theres Beauty"
From a psychological standpoint here's how I've come to understand it:
The right hemisphere of the human brain is generally associated with creativity, spatial reasoning, and abstract thought (all of things needed to be a good artist). It also happens to be the hemisphere associated with emotions of sadness. In contrast, the left half of the brain is associated with logic and mechanical intelligence and also with the emotion of happiness.
That's not to say that people who are part of the gothic culture are necessarily sad all the time, but sadness does contribute to the overall "darkness" of an individual. So I can easily see how a creative individual with right brain dominance would also be more prone to darker emotions.
Poetry is part of me I love writing
have just finished writing a vampire novel
i would have to agree that we are more in touch with who we are..being more expressive and open minded
Inspiration for art, and the arts come through emotions, and I believe happyness is a common uninteresting thing and most people don't know how to describe it, but pain is something easyer to describe because its a whole lot easyer to understand, It is grusome, and it is beautiful, that is why the Dark the painfull is laced into the arts so well...
somehow the darker aspects of reality and fiction are always the more interesting as one cannot wait to reach the end of the tale though one is also scared of finding out the ending
Creativity is independent of these things.
Darkness, happiness, depression, joy ...... these are simply tools that motivate and drive a person's creativity and what they are drawn to.
I have found there is creativity across the entire spectrum.
i think that ones creativity can expand into ones own darkness of course because there are things in darkness that no one believes so it can be quite easy to be creative and go with the flow if you will.
We are beasts which are programmed to improve. When we hit our darker sides, we sway our sense of "right in the world" toward "wrong in the world" and this allows out brain to focus on situations and improvement.
Many of this starts with defining what is wrong. I use this energy for my poems. I like to define situations clearly through poetry, and I receive more focus on the darker sides of things.
I find "dark people" to be more hung up on "tradition/fad beliefs then they are creativity. But those that are Noir are more creative, and imaginative, less set in Tradition, or belief. Noir has a greater root if you would in producing lasting authors, artist. While "dark people" gobble it up, and emulate the content.
i think that people who enjoy the darker side of things just tend to be more creative because they have a more open mind to things.
I believe darkness can inspire great things, but I also believe the lighter side of things can inspire great things as well...
Being an Artist, I have observed many other artists and styles. I think that when works are created with highly charged emotions, the works tend to elicit very strong emotion. There are dark people, and those who try to be dark. Those that try to be dark or more into the fad aspects of darkness. Those that are truly dark will creep you out.
I know my husband gets most of his ideas at night. His creative juices flow. Probably because it's quiet and most people are sleeping. There's no one to interupt him. No dogs, chores to do or phone calls. That's his time to think. That's when he comes up with his invention ideas.
Reading up on the Noir "Uprise" I find an echo of my earlier post, Noir was set-up against fad-ish commercial art, and theater.
I have a bunch of accomplishments in many areas. I have drawn up some cool tattoo work, done some graphic, web pages, a techno mix, written poetry, songs etc........I do not consider myself a professional in either of these areas. I have only dabbled long enough to complete an idea or task then move on to the next project. Sometimes I do go back and work more with an area or with somethings, i never stop.
I think it is that once someone actually becomes within the reality of who they are they are open to the creative flow. Ideas don't come to the weak. The strong have so many ideas, it is hard to keep up with them all and put them into effect.
One who is not sure of themselves will not be able to decipher the difference between a good and bad idea. They tend to never finish things or fail almost every time they try something. They cannot be taught either unless they first recognize who they are.
People want to sport, in duplicate what others are doing, that appears to define their social group, that is fad, those that are creative stand out, usually long enough to start others duplicating them. from leather gear, to plastic costume..
Allowing yourself to tap into your darker side I believe allows one to be more creative. The darker side of a person allows that person not to be as unhibited thus being more creative.
those that accept their darker side are free to explore their true selves.
and the ones that deny who they truly are keep themselves trap in their own prison
Adopting the term Dark is fad. Creativity comes from crossing set fads. I am here on a vampire site, and I see very few examples of creativity, I see a lot of believers, and fadist, but not much creativity.
Real darkness stimulates the pineal glad.
The pineal glad and creativity are directly linked.
Perhaps there is a drive toward "darkness" as a starting point for desire and creativity..
Azzriel999 -
Would you say the same goes for those who explore their lighter side? One cannot, without the other, perfectly know themselves inside out.
I find that if you tend to lean on the darker side of things then you stand out. And if you stand out then people notice. Now if you chose to stand out and have no worries about what people think then you tend to focus on yourself and feel out what you can do. And you tend to develop a personality.
Now if you live your life worried about what other people think then you tend to not spend any time to yourself and you never fully discover what talents you have ie writing and artwork.
I've apparently spent a lot of time alone in my life lol
"Dark" minds are often very creative indeed. I believe that those who embrace the darkness are more open-minded than those who dwell forever in the light. Life isn't all sunshine and rainbows, and people with dark minds express this through their art.
I personally think that the logical mind refuses to accept the idea of werecritters, the undead or anything not based in the reality of what can definitively proven to exist beyond speculation. Not wanting to be a wet blanket, but the idea of these things has to reside in the creative side of the mind and because of this it feeds upon itself in escapism.
I think darkness and Creativity go hand in hand though I'm sure that is not always the case, however darkness can either bring out our talents or drive us away to the light.
IE: a death of someone you know and love could send you into a darkness where you find your self writing and writing or painting.
i agree. for some reason this theory of yours proves to be true time and time again. those with amazing skill, or creativity, are usually children/followers of the Dark Path. i'm not exactly sure why but it almost always is the case. the best musicians today and even in the past had very dark personas and problems in their life. just look at people like Jonathan Davis and Amy Lee. they are two of the most musically talented people alive and they lead very dark, depressing, lives, full of tragedy and sadness.
Then what of Frank Sinatra? He didn't seem to be a follower of any dark path. What of the artists that paint beautiful landscapes of peaceful meadows and brooks? They aren't expressing anything close to what would come from a tortured soul.
It seems very narrow minded to only accept creativity from the scope of personal preference.
I don't care to buy music or paintings or sculptures from a great many artists due to personal preference. I do, however, acknowledge their creativity.
I'd also like to add that most musicians who are signed under a label are playing what sells. Right now tortured emotional turmoil sells. Everyone has turmoil in their lives from time to time. I doubt that Amy Lee is hiding in her hotel room with a bottle of vodka and a razor blade.
Don't confuse a person's marketing ability with their creative mind. They may be vastly different.
People that brood, are absorbed with themselves?
How many people like Broody Art Work?
Is self absorbed art done to entertain the self?
Do you want to be in the "dark" with a spot light on you?
Painting in shadows.. or Dark Observation, like Noir Theater. I'll take actual creativity over brooding self tormented art any day. To much imagination is wasted in the dark areas, to many people going around going "Boo.. did I scare you?"
I have written some dark poetry but it is stemmed from my emotions and it is my woay of exorcising those thoughts or feelings. It is my method of self-therapy that I can get out whatever I am feeling onto a piece of paper.
My oldest son is an artist and he does do macabre type of art and he does write lyrics that is geared towards the metal genre. Is he dark? To some degree he is but he is creative and brings out his emotions through his artwork and his lyrics.
I don't think darkness lends to creativity but is a part of every creative mind as is things of light.
Duality in general is a contribution to art, but when one cannot define the nature of the duality it is of little consequence to the performance, painting poem.. ect. Setting extremes to any art requires creativity, the genre ^as stated above plays a role in the foundation of the talent. Just because I am A Christian for example, doesn't mean all my art should be devotional.
Thank you Dabbler as I believe that you have made my point a little more clearer. Just because you are portrayed as something by someone else or by self-definition does not make who you are as a creative person but can lend itself the the medium in which your creativity thrives.
