Mirrors have a lot of strange stories attached to the. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice or share their experiences...

During the past few weeks I keep catching glimpses of movement or seeing flashes of colour when I glance at my reflection or look in a mirror. When I look for the object in question, there's nothing there. Also I keep thinking there's something odd about my personal reflection, especially around the eyes. I can't explain exactly what it is and my reflection reverts to normal pretty quickly. It's just that it sometimes feels like there's someone else looking out through my eyes.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have heard it reflects the soul of the viewer. I doubt it is very good as many ugly souls reflect well.

I've heard that mirrors house other realities and our alter-egos. I've also heard that peoples souls can get trapped inside. Don't know how exactly but hey, I never said that I heard it from a reliable source. lol

they say bloody mary will come out of the mirror and claw your eyes out. another reason why i dont own them

a mirror is just a reflective surface to my knowledge. i have never seen anything abnormal in a mirror to make me think otherwise.

I have never experienced anything weird when dealing with mirrors...but I have heard that they were once thought to trap people's souls. That if you didn't cover the mirror when someone in the house was dying that their souls would be trapped there.

I totally despise mirrors so much I hate to look in to one when i have to brush my hair or my teeth.I have one behind my children's door witch they are in charge of.I will not move the door to look in it or at it.My ghosts here use the mirror to appeared more then once.But not the reason I despise mirrors how ever I believe they are the door to the other side a portal and also as far as showing the viewers soul.I think it is possible I have seen mine.And witnessed Bloody Mary mirror chant I will not discuss it here.But no one did get hurt or die.But something did happen none the less.

I use mirrors outside of my home. They say they are to keep negativity away from the home. Some people may say the mirror is your mirror for you own use if you are interested in developing.

As far as the Bloody Mary goes you must stand in front of a mirror with a candle and say her name three times.

I do experience this myself. I mostly find that what I see is the glimpse of a spirit, one of my guides or sometimes it is a past or future event.

It can be unnerving but interesting as well lol.

I have never had issues with mirrors being naughty. I have heard of ghosts/spirits/orbs showing up in the photos with mirrors in them, and I have probably gotten a few myself in all the ghost pics I take. But then, they show up all over the place, so......

This brings to mind something in a book by Dean Koontz I just finished reading. In it the main character happens to be psychic and can see the spirits of those that haven't moved on. Well he sees one that looks panicked and confused to be out of his body, he was an evil man in life. Suddenly from the mirror in the room appears a gruesome face that seems to have wings reach out and viciously grasps the spirit and pulls him in. The face glares at the psychic and disappears.

I have to wonder if anyone has ever heard of such a thing?

I myself have never really experienced anything weird with mirrors. As a kid me and some friends tried the whole bloody mary thing. Nothing happened. Every once in a while I'll think I see something out of the corner of my eye, but that happens even when I'm just sitting in a dark room so I dont pay it much mind. I think my mind plays tricks on me sometimes is all. I'm not saying weird things couldn't happen with mirrors. It's just never happened to me.

I have never had an strange occurances with mirrors, but i have a friend that has like 14 mirrors in her house and they all across from each other, which i always thought was strange

Never had a problem with mirrors. (except they lie abt. how i look. lol) If it scares you ,say a prayer & light some sage to make all evil leave NOW. I believe a angel will help you if you ask, they are great for fighting those weird feeling ya get.

I hardly ever use a mirror , to brush my tteth ot my hair and then I am done with them, I am native american and well we just did not use mirrors much growing up or even now to this day. My ancestors felt they could take a pice of you the good part and steal it away from you nad then leave behing only the bad seed. as they called it.

there are alot of tales out there of mirrors yet not sure if they are true. manny say that you may capture the soul or spirit of a person and then transfer it to another .. as in some Voodoo practices, myself they are just a reflction of myself lOL even if I only have 1 mirror in my home and that is in the bathroom. I think alot of it is just whatever you believe some religions even cover the mirrors up during the grieving process and funeral of a loved one .. for many diferent reasons. so who is to say for sure.

I know we are looking at the mirrors as a possible soul catcher and maybe a doorway, yet these same tales are said to have the same definition as windows in the house, a magnet to souls, especially at night i guess the rumor is that they become reflective like mirrors has any one heard of this also?

I love mirrors, something about them attracts me to them. Its weird because it just really started within the past few months. I dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but at least when I look in the mirror I dont see anything bad.

It could be true that you're seeing paranormal objects. Seeing as how they can not be seen through the naked eye. Reflections are usually how they are seen. There are many rumors about blood mary and candy man and all those childhood legends that involve mirrors as well.

People used to use mirrors for scrying. Back in the eighteen hundreds, some people were so obsessed that they would make whole rooms full of mirrors to connect with another world... based on that, maybe you are scrying accidentally? It could also be a trick of the eyes. But in personal experience with mirrors, I hae looked into them when I was hungry and seen weird s**t in my eyes. Were you hungry in any sense?

I guess sometimes I would have been 'hungry' but not every time. I was sitting near a mirror in a friend's room a couple of minutes ago and glanced over and my eyes looked brown, not their usual blue.

I've seen weird things while looking at mirrors, although I don't think it is anything paranormal.. well, it's more of a hope that it isn't paranormal. I don't usually get freaked out when I see unusual reflections unless it's at night and the room is dark. I've also seen my eyes change color when I look in mirrors, I'm not sure if they really change color or if it's just the reflection playing tricks on me.

mirrors are a distortion of the real world, thats why they probably came up with this myth or superstition, a gate way or able to trap souls because they believe it is the world in which they new. yet like a camera which snapps the picture but is not the same as the subject it has taken a picture of. a distorrtion of thee true individual.

The thing I love about Mirrors would be the fact that the mystery they can bring.

One story I've always loved about mirrors I connect with another story about the eyes of a person: They are windows to the soul.

When I look in a mirror- I never see the same thing twice. Sure- its me looking back. Same eyes, same hair, same freckles and such [=)]...but the person is different. The mood of my eyes are different. Mirrors show a person who they are. Physically, spiritually, whatever the person is up to seeing.

And now that I think of it....a camera is the same way. =] Except you don't only see yourself- but the image is captured forever.

whe you see your self in the mirror it tells you about your innerself. you got to look into it very deeply and concentrating hard on it .mirrors never lie . when you have done something wrong than just look into the mirror and it will tell you that yoiu have done wrong.

well my family is native american and my mom told us of stories where my Grandma would not let my Grandpa put windows in her new house cause she said that they can let the evil in LOL or take her sprirt away and she was having nothing to do with anything that has reflections so they had wooden shutters for windows and it was kinda weird when I was older and my mom took us to see the old house and sure enough no windows .. strange yet true.

Maybe they creep some people out a bit because they are just an empty reflection. They always struck me as a kind of hollow image of the world with nothing behind it.

i think mirrors are just a tool like tarot cards, candles, bibles, etc, etc... They only reflect the desire, heart, soul of the individual.

I also think that there might be something to the gateway theories, but I havent dedicated much time to studying it.

not really i just find it odd how i look like a completely different person in the mirror during the day than i do from the person i see in the mirror during the night time.

I've heard that the peasantry is not apt enough to realize the relationship angles, light, reflection, and refraction all have with one another. That sometimes, when they see something, their eyes tell them that it was more front-and-center than it actually was, giving our brains a different reflection vector and thusly a different source than where it actually is.

I was wondering if your mirror was new that is something you picked out yourself or it has had previous owners.
I had heard that sometimes mirrors that have had previous owners still house that person's image so to speak and might be the previous owner trying to stil show themself. Like they are sort of trapped.
I know that sounds crazy but that is one thing i had heard about this.
When i was younger my grandma had a mirror in her house that i always was found odd in the woodwork of it as it was handmade; one day when we were there the mirror had disappeared.
Nothing we asked about it was answered until my mom told us later to never mention the mirror again and told us grandma had a bad experience with the mirror>
Being a kid i kept asking things and when i asked did she break it my mom told me no she had to get rid of it we never knew what became of it

i definately have had some interresting mirror events my face seems to morph into some demonic shapes and i dont recanize me in the mirror its someone or something else ...i even have dreams about mirrors ...when i was younger very much younger i thought magick a game and i read this book and tried some things a friend who still stands by my side today swears i completely disapeared and she begged me not to do it again i dont know what happend but it scared her very bad i dont actually believe i disapeared but she was truely struck with fright

Wow some great posts on this thread, never came across ther approuch of the crossroads though, scrying mirrors, now that i am familiar with, been many moons since I have seen one.

Mirrors just show the reflection of yourself maybe the things you are seeing in the mirror are showing you parts of yourself you are not ready to see. Maybe your not being open enought with your self the the mirror is trying to show you.

I just saw the new horror movies called Mirrors that just came out... I'll tell you what, I don't think I'm going to keep as many mirrors around the house anymore. lol.. In fact, I'm about ready to get rid of all of them.

Beltrand, you asked if it was a new mirror. It actually happens with all mirrors and pretty much any reflective surface. I think I first noticed it at a friend's house while lying on his bed. He has a huge mirror on the door of the sliding wardrobe and I thought at first that it was just that mirror but it's all of them.

mirrors i belive are like camers and they still a bit of your soul.

Mirrors intimidate me. I always seem to see a person in a mirror and they always turn and look straight at me.. scares the shit out of me

Silver...used to make the mirror .It gets imprinted and resonates signuratures that come into contact with it.Doesnt suprise me when one might see or feel things in them.

Mirrors are a hard one... they reflect the light and cause us to sometimes see things that are not really there...

but I have had instances where i am looking at the mirror and my eyes are not their normal color or have caught glimpses of something I could not explain...

Seeing something out of the corner of your eye, is something common. It has something to do with your peripheral vision. It's common to see this in a mirror, or just outside your regular field of vision, but when you turn to focus on it, you see nothing. Also, not to make light, but you might consider having your eyes checked, to make sure that you are seeing correctly. That may make a difference. As for mirrors themselves. Someone stated earlier, they are just reflective surfaces. Sorry for being such a "doubting thomas"

I think the scare of mirrors are from times when comon people didnt understand how mirrors worked. For them it was magic and they got scared cause thy couldnt explain it.

Mirrors are made by man of reflective glass. Now, can you "charm" a mirror or put a spell on a mirror? I believe you can, just like you could charm any object.

I have known people that was afraid of their reflection and thought mirrors are evil..... So if you are afraid of reflections does this mean you shall never take a bath out of fear you may see your reflection?

i have never had a problem with mirrors. i have seen things in them when working with witchcraft but never anything that could harm me or any1 in my family i do hope this helps

I have never had any bad dealings with mirrors as a kid I broke heaps of them but I never had any bad luck or anything. I do know that it can reflect light etc depending on the shape and angel. perhaps that could be the cause of your seeing things.

is it just one mirror? or all the mirrors in the house? have you tried different light sources at different times of the day? ie a table lamp instead of an overhead light fixture.

I believe that given the right circumstances mirrors can trap souls within them.

Is it a place where a quick light from outside is reflecting on the mirror. Move it to a different room & see it anything happens.

I have caught flashes of movments, but to my eyes it looks black and shadowy. I know that the poster of this thread means by someone else is looking out. I see the same thing, and I HATE looking in mirrors. I try to avoid them as much as possible.

Certainly like any other object a mirror could be charmed so the question is how long have you hand the mirror and is it happening in all mirrors or just one?

I have a life that is hectic and i never notice it until i look in the mirror.

if mirrors are doorways would they not be able to slip through one mirror to another, a portal for souls and other demons. many movies seem to entrance this theory, to the unamable, constatine. mirrors a doorway to another parellel world.

I am not sure how to respond other than the fact that some see their eyes as a different color when they look into the mirror and i believe that would be due to the angle of the lighting as that contributes alot to how our eyes may look.

For some reason mirrors have always been described as a porthole or has been written in horror movies as a source of bad things getting through.

Mirrors can reflect light or shadows at the right angel.

you know funny as it may seem i've always thought of a mirror as a darway to a soul world.

Some mirrors have flaws in the back of them that leak threw the mirror. This effect is called matrixing. The effect is to the effect that the cracks bleed threw and cause the brain to precieve the cracks as an image. The brain can't make since of it and thus turns it into something familure or reconizable. Most people that claim they see faces or shadows in the mirror can be contributed to matrixing.

The story I believe you're referring to as to Bloody Mary is that if you stand in front of a mirror with the lights off, and turn around 7 times and say 'Bloody Mary' 7 times, Bloody Mary will get you.

As to the question at hand, it's probably just a trick of the lights.

After reading this post it reminded me of a book that I had read back in my tween years about a doppelganger, totally fiction but she experienced the same type of things with the mirrors.

when it comes to mirrors we are very superstious. We get so jumpy if we see something in them that we are not sure of. Most of the time it is our eyes playing tricks.

Hmmm, sorry for those of you who believe in the tale of Bloody Mary. lol I heard that myth as a small child and have even tried to call her out in adolescent slumber parties and such. Never had a problem with her much myself. lol
