We go through this sometime, we ask ourselves..who is God? what is God? where is God? whatever thingy...

Now, Pray, tell..WHO or WHAT is GOD to YOU?

Below is the dictionary definitions of what God is:

· the supernatural being conceived as the perfect and omnipotent and omniscient originator and ruler of the universe; the object of worship in monotheistic religions

· a man of such superior qualities that he seems like a deity to other people (Example: "He was a god among men")

· a material effigy that is worshipped as a god (Example: "Money was his god")
· any supernatural being worshipped as controlling some part of the world or some aspect of life or who is the personification of a force

For me, I don’t give homage to any material possession, or living thing to substitute who God is to me. I believe God to be the creator of all things fundamental in the Universe, and I try my best to live in a good way that reflects the merits of my faith. I also believe that all religions compliment each other, as each faith has a different way to worship the same God, as there can only be one Creator. One God Almighty.

God is a God of Love, and a God of Peace, and a God of Truth to all living things.

I agree with Lor', for me there are many-- gods and goddess, each a particular aspect of what one would consider the supreme being over us all.

i think that the ideas behind christianity, which share the same ideals as many other faiths, are beautiful. it's unfortunate that many don't follow the way it was intended to be followed and have no intention of doing so. i have my own problems/questions with christianity so i don't think that it is the path for me. i haven't found what is right for me yet. i do believe that everything has a living force and should be respected. i also believe that you should at least attempt to respect those around you and embrace, if not tolerate, their differences. so i guess what i'm saying is that i don't believe in 'God' but i do believe that there is such a thing as karma and if you don't behave yourself it *will* bite you in the arse.

so my vision of god isn't the same as any religion...
but I think that the people that created religions(and the guys that write about jesus mahomet buddah and all other) are just the view of some human being upon a greater entity they can't see or hear or anything.those may be partially wrong...

To me God is nothing because of the simple fact that I do not believe in God, but like I've said in previous posts just because I personally don't believe in something doesn't mean that I'll knock on someone else for believing in said thing.

i agree with you crimson_lust. it is unfortunate most do not return the same favor.

I know what you mean, but that's why those of us that do feel that way have to stick to our guns, so to speak, and not let anyone else influence us in our decisions. People just need to learn how to have respect for others no matter how different they live their lives or how different their belief system is. The world would be a far far better place if that could be done, but I have high doubts about that one, at least were the general public is concerned.

Great to see everybodies views on God.. well I can't deny Him, but I think peoples faith is a personal thing. However, I do believe that if you believe in the Devil/Satan then you have to believe in God as God is opposite of the Devil.

What I don't believe in, is in people fighting over *God* and dying using *God* and their faith as a reason for going to war. I don't think in any major faith, i.e. Islam, Christians, Judaism, Hindi, Suni etc that the clerics and honest people would justify a war in the name of God. God would be horrified.

hhmmmm.... i don't know, My mother is an excesivly catholic person, meanwhile my dad is the guy with the "don't drag me into religious stuff" quote on his face. I used to bealieve, but a question made me burn all my hopes of being liked by a supreme something, and now i don't bealieve at all. (not in a christian way)

my belief is there are more than one god up there, i believe each religion is just a different path to get to the same place. In my belief if you think about it there is no such thing as monotheism. think about it, one of the definitions of god is a higher being. well lets see jesus christ is a higher being right? what about the angel, they are higher beings right? Even the devil(or satan, whichever name you want) is a higher being(even though most dont want to meet him, or they all just want to kill him and take over, lol)? I think it was best said in Wicca for Men, "Every living being on earth has a god or goddess in them."

To me god is someone you look up to. Someone that can explain to you things you cannot. Like the bible, where Jesus left his life on, and we're supposed to learn from him.
My english teacher once asked his teacher(she was a nun) if the Bible wasn't just a story God wrote and we were supposed to interpret it. SHe got mad! So I guess sometimes It's not even you who picks what to believe in.

My faith in God was once very strong! But stuff happened and I began to think if god is so kind and all mighty why does he kill but familys through hell. Ive lost my beleve in christians god but i am now a wiccan and iti comforts me alot.

I think most of us here are wicca and i am sure we have had similar reason for leaving our old religions

Never lose faith in God. He works in odd ways, many times which seem harmful at first, but in the end turns for the best. This comes from a person that has many reasons to have lost faith, and yet it remains.

I have never once in my life belived in god.
I am an atheist, not baptised or anything.
I have problems beliving in god because,
i am a realist i guess, i don't belive in overnatural beings of any kind. And the bible contradicts evolution, and none of it makes any sense.

existence is like a large puzzle....each religion looks at their puzzle peice and says YES I HAVe THE ANSWER.wrong....they have one peice of a puzzle.....each of them has one peice of this universal sized puzzle.....think what could happen were they to put aside the disagreements and hatreds long enough to assemble said puzzle.....my thought is it would be of some friends in a cafe deep in intelligent conversation while playing chess.

And well what in exsistance doesn't contradct at some point, even in love with a person at one point or another you will say that you hate them or fell so, even if just a moment.

this is my story on what i beleave. it all started one day when i started to think really deep....

So, I felt very obtuse, because I started thinking that every thing I operated on was based upon what I believed god was telling me to do. But that could be my intuition or what ever, but I always assumed, I assumed that the voice I hear is the voice of god. Then I started thinking, what if I’m insane? So I’m operating on the promises that I’m hearing the voice of god, or what I perceive god to be speaking to me or through me, but maybe I’m completely insane. So all my pat demagogy in that me thinking that my life has importance, and my thought of it on the fact that I believe I’m following my intuition. Which in it self may be completely false, so then I started freaking out. And in the end there’s this totally insane creature that believes he is acting upon heavenly intuition, but mean while, he’s totally ramp it. So then I started thinking, maybe this is the cause of all the negativity. So I try thinking for my self, trying to cure my madness. And upon doing so, I realized that…that… that I’m better off with out him, the voice of god, speaking through me and or to me. I found that I was in fact insane, and for a brief moment, in my insanity, I was addicted. Addicted to this feeling of supposedly serving gods word, and his will. Which in it self was the cause of the madness, and the delusions of my thinking that my life had importance. It was me doing, saying, believing, and acting as if it was the voice of god. This was, upon thinking for my self that I discovered in that moment of brief solitude, the reason I was addicted. Addicted to his voice, that was being believed to have been projected from some where beyond and unimaginative. Being addicted to the thought that I was mint to do something with my life, the feeling that my life had importance. And upon having these feelings that I spared my life, my thought of being able to hear the voice of god, which in it self was a manifestation of a part of me. A part of me that saved my life, but also is the reason for my insanity. So, it’s a never ending cycle, of obeying a part or extension of my self that believes it self to be so great that it acts as if a god to convince it self to stay alive. A god, creator of all living things, that lives inside me, that I made, keeps me a live. So in a since, I created a god in my self to speak through me, and to instill a since of self worth, to keep my self a live. For to live life is to live for god, which is ultimately my self.

But i can't belive in something just to get romance into my life. I have roamance in my life, and i don't need a religion to fill some empty hole inside me, 'cause i don't have any empty holes. i have been an atheis tall my life, and i probably will¨be for the rest of it too. I am not atheist by choice, i can't just decide to belive in god, or any other religion for that matter.

Getting back to what I said earlier in this thread, I just believe that all of us over the world pray to the same ultimate being, but just have different names for Him and methods of doing so.

Applauds Elder Daniel. the saying to each there own should be fallowed more often. Everyone has there own beliefs, thats what make hem individuals. You can get 2 people from the same religion, sit them down and give them 10 questions to answer, 5 of the questions will be answered differently. Not everyone believes in the same thing, but at least everyone believes in something.

Personally i believe there is no one true god but many, but then again i find myself asking for proof and there is none only what seem to be stories that there are such things yet there is no actual circumstanial evidence that proves any god/gods/goddesses exist.

speak to God each and everyday, give time in that to listen for Him. He will respond sooner or later. I know He doees for me.
