A thread sometimes back about soul collectors, raised a question, What use is a soul, or a collection of souls? What purpose is served from possessing another persons soul?
well dabbler my friend i beleave it has a lot to do with gaining energy and more power.
Ok Gain of power, how does one extract that power?
Would not a power drain be just as effective?
hon I dont think that you can exact someones soul who has past on
I completely agree, It is a question based on the assumed.. that cliche "I own your soul" usually implied when a person is alive, is the direction of the thread,
Is their a poker circuit that used soul contracts as chips?
I think when people want to "own" the other person's soul and stuff, I think that implies basically having them as a person. Basically owning them as a slave, not just in body but their mind, too.
Well your soul is your true inner being from where all "light " comes from. Or in some cases "darkness"
Yes i believe in reincarnation, so there for some souls are very old. As the old saying goes the eyes are out windows to our soul. So when you look someone in the eyes and see some familarity to them, maybe there is a reason for that.
I think that it means they want to own them not just as a person but their mind and all as well
We've all heard of "selling" of ones soul to the devil or another. Is suppose to give the new owner of the soul command and control over that person. So in other words, a slave to do what ever biding.
I think a soul is what keeps us from being mindless drones or zombie like. That's why I say people that are drug addicts that never recover or stop, are lethargic and lifeless because they have killed their soul before they actually died.
First according to many religiouse and philosophical belifs, The soul is being distnct from the body and survies the death of the body in these beliefs.
Souls are usually considered to be immortal in many other beliefs, it is also known as a core of the body
and it floats
A soul is good and in a peaceful balanced place.
A soul being a rather special thing we don’t know if it is real or not… religions would crumble if we didn’t have one lol
Personally you can connect through love… or a ritual that involves a recently passed on person and a coffin lined with mirrors …. It is said reflecting it back in is a way to trap it ….what you would do after is up to the magic your into.
i believe you need a soul to pass on to the next world, or to be reincarnated
I truly believe the soul is our essence, in one way or another it continues on. The body is just the container...
I would imagine it would be an ego trip. Personally, I wouldn't know what to do with another person's soul if I had it.
pretty sure its use is to be a security blanket for the masses -- a down comforter for the mind.
I find it interesting that most concepts of the soul have it to be something non-physical. And yet, they seem to be highly controlled (based on the assertions of those who believe in them), by the physical. It seems trapped in a physical body. The idea that it can be contained in a box lined with mirrors suggests it to be every bit as physical as is light. (A mirror is just a piece of glass with a reflective coating, usually a metal-base coating.) Some suggest it has weight -- mass -- which is purely a physical property.
So why is something non-physical so tied to the physical? Or is it simply that there is nothing beyond the physical world, so every assertion of entities beyond the physical end up inextricably tied, by assertion, to the only realm in existence?
It is also a topic from the time we developed a understanding about death as a species, some say it goes back to partials when we die and the body breaks down, others believe we code DNA which is why we like most animals have built in danger alerts to some creatures we show them as phobias.
Others believe it is the final reward to move on to the great summer fields till we are born again……. Still back to the post … to control your environments is what us witches try to do …… death is just one and a soul would be great to experiment with…
I imagine a secondary of more souls (identity) would be expendable to the owner, doing things that draw off the energy of ones soul (identity) or taint the soul are there for not expended by the "owner" of the soul (identity.) This can also be imagined that a "darker" (unprojecting identiy (soul) can use the resources of another to promote themselves as what they are not.
Dutchess makes a good point as well.
probably from everything around them they would drain a small ample amount of energy. yet the soul is the time capsule of life for the individual person i believ , much like a memory card in a camera, yet an elsuve idenity.
Jamie I think you hit a valid point as well, bragging seems to be rapant among, "Soul collectors" even Christians brag about their converts.
I agree with GypsyOfTheGreen. A soul Is our true essence. You cannot just posess, a soul has to be freely given, usually with heart and mind as well.
Interesting Dabbler. I feel that GypsyoftheGreen & CryingDutchess has both it the nail on the head with this one.
The soul is our essence and without that we wouldn't know who or what we are inside. The innerself so to speak is what I mean.
For someone to own a soul other then their own I feel that it would be more like owning that person.
Various instances of head injury have clearly demonstrated that who and what we are is a function of the physical brain. Though it's not frequent, some people can suffer a brain injury and emerge with a completely different personality. Their likes and dislikes change, their demeanor, literally everything that defined them as who they were changes and makes them a person completely different from who they were.
Noting this, it seems inappropriate and incorrect to assert that such things should be credited to the soul. We have a brain, there is no question about that. There is also no question that the brain produces our personality -- who we are. There is no credible evidence that the soul exists or carries out any function. All functions can be fully accounted for without references to the soul.
I imagine the closest thing to a soul would be the foundation to our structure the key gene. What was "charged' by our conception.
Other then that I subscribe more to the Metaphoric soul. I find the Native Americans View of the spirit to be appealing as well. If a soul serves any purpose I image it is in transition, when you are in the final stages of death, assurance verses faith, I find to many people that once they accept the belief of the soul they are ready to claim to be able to manipulate the soul.. a dangerous concept even from the metaphorical sense of a soul.
Yes somewhere along the lines I think there for I am … I feel there is a pure goodness in this creation and man is far from pure so by logic for an impure to belive there could be a absolute good n pure it must be….. a soul is the only answer to carry on after death and by the reasoning of the previous parts of this post it must be even if science hasn’t caught up with proving what we believe….
Did that make sense????
Whether or not souls exist appears to be a very arguable topic. I believe we do. Why would people collect them? If souls exist which I think they do is impossible! it would be like trying to capture a ghost. lol
A soul is what makes up alive! I have known someone who lost theirs. When the soul was gone they killed themselves casue they let someone take it from them. Or gave it away, either way I believe we need a soul to go on......
Noe there I have to disagree. I think that giving away a soul would be like giving away your brain. You cant do it! Well, ya know what I mean. Like giving away the ghost that haunts your house. it isnt something that can be grabbed or captured. The only thing/being that has control over a persons soul is the higher power. If one exist which I very much believe does ;P
I'd figure if one could group together a bundle of souls they, in a way, could become poor powerful in some way.
Hmmm I dunno. If it was possible I would definitely say that it would bring some hell on your head to do so. Get an evil spirit on your hands or somethin. And karma is a widked thing....stealing souls isn't going to benefit yours un the long run! lol
We are tied to the physical. Most religions seek to "elevate" us from the mere physical onto the higher metaphysical plane of the soul.
I adore my yoga instructor, but she takes me out of the experience of going deep into my body --- absenting my consciousness with all its twitters which is what you're supposed to do, I think --- when she intones "I am not this body, I am not this body."
I immediately go into revolt and land back in a hot, sweaty room with a thud.
We are thoroughly and completely the physical and that includes our brain from whose manifestations come art and science and love and all manner of fantastic thoughts.
Thoughts which are not physical --- you can't hold them --- but which are as real as anything solid. Our brain and body react to the stimulus of thought as if it were the real thing.
My point? The mind-body connection is our "soul" in a metaphorical sense, and neither one should be denied. Of what use is it? It's operating with all cylinders primed. Delicious.
I absolutely agree with you, Bloodmother.
Our entire perspective is granted us through our consciousness. So in a manner of speaking, the entire world is as our consciousness perceives it to be. That makes it very difficult for some to grasp the concept that their consciousness itself is capable of non-existence, despite awareness that intermittent states of unconsciousness are demonstrated with regular frequency.
I've seen the comment that some simply do not want to become nothing. And in a manner of speaking, they have nothing to fear. As physical beings, we cannot be created or destroyed. But as a mechanical construct, we can cease to function as what we recognize to be ourselves. Our parts -- the sub-atomic bits from which the atoms of our bodies are constructed -- will likely always exist in some form or another. But our consciousness, the inner "us" we relate to, relies to a degree, upon our present configuration. There is no credible evidence to the contrary.
We are purely physical (there has never been a single credible demonstration that anything other than the physical actually exists). Even those who wish to assert to the contrary end up revealing this to be the case through the language they use to attempt to describe these supposed other realms. We continually see the claim that these other realms and non-physical entities are "energy". And yet energy is part of the purely physical. There is nothing unnatural, supernatural, undetectable or paranormal about energy. People lack the language to describe the non-physical simply because there is no such thing in existence. It has been asserted and believed since the earliest scratchings of man. And yet it has made no progress toward a demonstrable construct in all the tens of thousands of years of subjective belief.
Meanwhile, in a mere four to five centuries, the demonstrable, physical realm has granted us control over nearly everything ever asserted to be other than natural and physical, such as disease, the gods behind volcanoes, earthquakes, storms plagues and the like.
What use is a soul? It seems to serve as a security blanket for those who fear the permanent loss of their consciousness. They needn't be concerned. Simply think back to the time before you were conceived. Was it frightening? Did it bother you not to exist? Non-existence in the future will be as it was in the past.
People aligning/blurring spiritual matters with, emotions and senses. Some how we can "measure" our spirits intensity/devotion by mental processes..? If I appease you during a seance, with a spirit touching your face. Does this appeal to your soul? Or to your sense of touch (something that mourning people want so badly to do one more time to the person that left them physically. Sadly all that was experienced was chilled bubbles blown in the face of the eyes close sitter. When one invest so much into their beliefs they are likely to become hyper sensative to any thing interpited as supporting their beliefs, the person that performs for them, owns their soul/emotional well being, as well as high jacks the soul/identity of their loved one.
Well... Soul is the true self which controls primary energy (prana) and it stays in our womb and thats why its called seat chakra coz its the seat of the soul... when the soul is in its own occupied body, it can not e commanded and its teh supreme power of the body and teh mind only can be controlled and the conscious ...
when the soul is free... it most powerful in he silence and it in the process of seeking the cell according to its nature and in that time if soul controlled for purpose... itdo solve that purpose before taking birth in the body... but its in tantra and notspecified in yoga so i can not say about the collectingt he soul. coz I am soul lover, I do not believe in the controlling any soul...
yoga says use the art to heal or to improve one or self but do not harm any one...
and I am bonded to this.
I guess to possess someones soul means to have someones mind in possession and being able to control it for own ideas.
Alix -
What you just said referred to mind control, not possession. The two are completely different things.
I would say that once a soul leaves a body it becomes energy that is used by all. So in a sense we are all soul collectors. We just...share.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soul
The soul, according to many religious and philosophical beliefs, is the self-awareness, or consciousness, unique to a particular living being, defined as being distinct from the body and survives the death of the body. In these beliefs the soul is thought to incorporate the inner awareness of each living being, and to be the true basis for consciousness, rather than the brain or any other material or natural part of the biological organism. Some religions and philosophies on the other hand believe in the soul having a material component. Souls are usually considered to be immortal. Many beliefs hold they exist prior to incarnation.
The concept of the soul has strong links with notions of an afterlife, but opinions may vary wildly, even within a given religion, as to what may happen to the soul after the death of the body. It also shares as a Proto-Indo-European language root of spirit.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A soul is just one of those nifty little things that keeps you from being dead. Cause if you didn't have one, you wouldn't be here.
There are vibrations and frequencies. Humans don't even see all the spectrum of light. There are numerous things we cannot see but it is there; such as the wind you know its there because of the movement it makes. If you could see your soul what would be the point?
The soul is sort of a religious belief and probably could be called by other names and most likely has. Whether anyone could collect it is dubious at best. You would have to know the exact vibrational tone of each individual most likely (theory not fact) to obtain it. At the beginning of the 20th Century people didn't believe we had energy bodies but they now can see in via Kirlian photography. Perhaps we have no way to see it or measure it but most still believe it exists.
Through practices of meditation and those things associated cultures that practiced altered states of mind are far more advanced than the western world. They have been aware of many things for centuries long before Western man would accept some things...we are slowly crawling behind and finding out some things were right as we progress technologically. As for the soul, eh...who knows if it will ever go beyond a debate as to its existence. I think most of us would like to think we live on in another form that isn't physical to make choices to become physical again or do something else. What point would life be to be only for most less than 100 years long and then...poof?
Kirlian Photography
Example of a Kirlian photograph
Kirlian photo of a finger
Kirlian photography is a type of contact print photography in which an object touching a photographic plate is connected to a high voltage source, creating an aura-like image. It is named after Russian inventor Semyon Kirlian (1898 – 1978), who accidentally discovered the technique in 1939.
How it Works
An object is placed in contact with a photographic plate and connected to a source of high voltage, high frequency, low current electricity (the low current makes it harmless). Small coronal discharges are created by the strong electric field at the edges of the object. The frequency of the electricity excites electrons in the object so they ionize the surrounding air.
Objects must be conductive for this technique to work. The object can be moist (e.g. a living thing) or conductive metal. A dry non-conducting object will not produce the effect.
Paranormal (Auras)
Kirlian photography is often confused with aura photography. Although the similarities are obvious, they are two very different techniques. In aura photography there is no voltage and no direct contact with the photographic plate.
Many paranormal enthusiasts still claim that the aura captured by Kirlian photography is some sort of "life force". However this is easily debunked:
1. Kirlian photographs can be taken of anything moist or conductive, including coins, paper clips, etc.
2. Kirlian photographs taken in a vacuum (where no ionized gas is present) show no aura.
3. Some people claim that a living object slowly loses its aura after it dies. This is more easily explained by the fact that it loses its moisture.
You are a hard one but whether people think they debunk something that may or may not be the case. Every time someone comes along and debunks someone else someone else comes along and debunks them.
They have seen the energy pass through heat seeking cameras as well. They showed the energy exchanges with a psychic even on TAPS. There are pictures that have been taken of healers exchanging energy. Whether someone wants to debunk Kirlian photography or not...that is just one court in the ballgame. I don't agree...simple as that, lol.
What is the history of Kirlian Photography?
Dr. Seymon and Valentina Kirlian are the founders of Kirlian work.
It came by accident that Seymon noted the exchange of electricity with the human body while an x-ray was being taken.
From this observation, and because he was a curious men and an inventor, he developed a camera to capture this unseen energy field. This field is known as corona and the auric field. His wife noted that in his photographs, his own auric fields had changed over the course of various photographs-- especially in the physical and mental body represented by the middle and ring fingers. At the time, Dr. Seymon was unaware of a physical disease developing. Together they fine-tuned this work over thirty years ago in Russia. They invested a special camera: a copper-based camera with a high frequency charge bar. Photos taken with this camera were shown in technical journals in Russia in 1959. American scientists became aware of these studies in the 1970s. The photgraphy is referred to by several names: Kirlian, electrophotography, radiation field or coronal discharge. These references were established from the different theories to explain this energy documentation. A new venue for medical diagnosis is a possibility through Kirlian research.

What is the soul anyway? Is it the sum total of all our electrical energy that is within the body...could be??? With consciousness added as this is how most in metaphysical circles perceive a supreme being which in a sense could be described as a "soul". This is all conjecture anyway.
Dr Burr of Yale University studied living organisms – people, plants and animals – with a voltmeter to measure electrical potential. He produced careful documentation to verify his statements. He measured the steady-state energy level.
"The pattern of organization of any biological system is established by a complex electro-dynamic field. This field is electrical in the physical sense. It established and maintains a pattern even in the midst of physio-chemical flux. Therefore it must regulate and control living things. It must be the mechanism, the outcome of whose activity is wholeness, organization and continuity"
http://www.plexusbio-energy.com/about.asp
These things have been picked up by Kirlian photography and other instruments with many theories behind them. Call it bioelectrical energy of the body, call it lifeforce or the soul...but when someone dies this leaves or is extinguished depending on viewpoint.
I never meant that as a challenge. Yet you mention that someone always attacks the credibility of those that expose junk science/psuedo science. Thank you for making my case, by devoting your self to such a degree you are making the point for soul ownership, your soul is devoted to the claims of Kirilian Photo people.
So what any way what has their "research" done as far as ground breaking science application. Err I am going with nothing, outside of appeasing people that need something to appear to be evidence for something they claim to have faith in. Sensationalism, is that really healthy? To have your soul dependent on something that appeases your senses, is that even a soul matter our a mental stimulation?
There are people that don't just want others to accept that there is a soul their are people that want to dictate the souls form, and then it is a matter of accepting that they can somehow demonstrate that which they call a soul, and people devote their beliefs to such things.. hmmm.. I wonder... but that is just me.. an Escapist..
I don't believe in grabbing someone else's soul either. So why the mysticism around the soul? Perhaps to answer the unexplained. Perhaps to give us hope for something more out there. Perhaps it's like George Carlin said, "we made it up!"
Somethings are better left to metaphysics, or metaphor. To devote ones soul to any one thing, is a major pact.. one that people rely on sensational confirmation to validate their acceptance/belief. Tragic when something a person dedicates their soul to turn out to be shady, or down right corrupt. So what do those that have peoples devotion use that devotion for? Hopefully to enrich their devoted followers social standing in some way, to share resources, but if a person in a leader position is "Blessed" to a higher position then the followers/devoted, then one can see the fringe benifits of soul collecting.
A soul is the energy (electrical forces) in ones body that creates function and thought; the escence of one's being. To possess one's soul is to become psychosomatic because a body cannot be controled by more than one soul at a time, it would be like two or three people driving a car and all going to different destinations, it just does not work.
i think the main use if anyone is to collect a soul is the existance of having power and control over that soul
Those that believe in souls. souls are energy.. if you have the gift to obtain them you control the energy the power.. our soul is what we are.. for some its our darkest gift..
For those that dont believe in souls it doesnt matter..
I feel that without a Soul we would be less human as to having no morals or compassion for our fellow man. I believe when someone says they own your soul they mean that they own everything that makes you whom you are, and that they now control your every move/decision etc... that you make because everything would have a consequence(sp) from then on, due to the fact that your not act on behalf of yourself yet on their behalf.
So in a way it is Power and they control that power hope that makes sense..
I do believe without a soul we would not be balanced or have any type of morals at all. It is the hub that balances a human I believe.
Aside from your first sentence. I find your post to work on the metaphoric level.
I would question whether a person needs to accept the existence of a soul to be ethical, and moral though.
That people lack soul/personality, and they build with the devotion of others. I shiver at the concise way your post states this. why would a person deplete their "soul" when it is just as easy to drain those that are devoted to, or enslaved to them.
Then we need more converts to get this Holy battery started.. so press out more souls please, technically we don't even need them to believe, if they act like they believe, for the social inclusion, then they are likely to attract those that actually will devote/hand over their soul. Now we need some Coaxial Cables.. that can interface..
If you wish to have more energy I would suggest squat thrusts on a fire hydrant!
That same paragraph paused me as well, what followed really appealed to my accepted the soul is a metaphor.
I believe a soul is needed to pass on into the afterlife, but when it comes to owning a soul I believe it's just a matter of a power trip and someone being your slave not just in body, but in mind, too.
Why would anyone want someone elses soul? How would you know you were getting a good one? What happends when you get a bad one? Its not like taking some bad meat back to the butcher...I just don't get it.
I believe that everyone is a soul that inhabits the body so I guess you could take a soul and try to make it do what you wish.... That's just my belief and I am sure there are people that won't agree with my belief but that's why it's my belief ^_^.....
The use of a soul can be compared to the use of a wooden puppet.
Are you a puppeteer?
Are you aware?
The death of a soul, can still guide you - as the long term use of a puppet no more, still guides your hand.
Well soul is supeme self which is not energy but its the self around which prana form the culture and energies by taking birth or not taking the birth the soul is capable of using universal energies...
he soul is beyond physical, beyond energies and beyond the celestial dimensions... its true self one can find with crossing the many levels of the prana or one only can feel by conscious and conscious is the tool of the soul and both are powerful in the silence hence it is said the conscious is most powerful in silence and silence is the mantra of the conscious.
This Indian logic thou cn understand on :
www.swamij.com
he is great meditator and great soul.
the knowledge he did put on the site is mastered by himself...
this is very helpful site on meditation and other yoga...
Your soul is who u are. The reason to try and take over a soul is to take someones personality over
I think this boils down to a lot of religious beliefs. I agree that the soul is our essence... the body dies our essence lives on joining the energy of the universe sharing its knowledge and experience for the greater good.
I personally believe that a soul can't be collected or drained to the point of nothingness. It is too great a thing to just be destroyed like that. I have trouble believing that a soul could be eaten up so to speak.
perhaps the soul is our true being trapped in a body which is trapped in a different dimention, that would make sence because when the body dies we go on but no one knows where, time is much slower in this demention called life and that may be why we dont see "ghosts" ....or perhaps the physical body is just a byproduct of a spirit.
the only thing i can think of is the energy in which a soul has would be the only thing worth having, though i have heard some try to capture souls to have them do their bidding for them,of course it is not natural to capture anothers soul.
I would have to say that "owning" someones soul means they want to "own", know, or have everything about you....it is like they are your best friend or you lover...they know everything about you...even things no one else knows. Sometimes owning means that they owe a dept to that person but not all the time. I think the soul collectors are a representation of the grim reaper. They are there to help him collect the lost souls in the world. That is just my take on it.
It has been demonstrated many, many times that who we are is determined in the frontal lobes of the brain. Damage to this area of the brain often results in a complete personality change.
To possess the soul of another, the soul would have to exist. I'm not sure what purpose this might serve but until a soul actually exists, it doesn't seem plausible.
some believe that if you colect some one soul you gain energy and strangth and power.
i think its our life force and with out it we are an empty shell
In metaphor plenty of these post work, personality, faces, promotion, If I have many personalities in my devotion.. then they will likely serve to sway others to my devotion.. considering I may have deceived the core personalities, each personality that devotes to their pitch, builds on my stable.
So consider who is dictating your soul (personality) and the devotion you offer others, without considering their motive. Because metaphorically you could be selling out, and end up with nothing to show for it.
nobody own soul,even ourself.
if some people say that they need your soul,it mean.
1.you have to be mine.
2.you must follow my order.
3.you no longer have any desire.
4.you just to be my servent.
5.and you will die because of me.
but,we do have free will to answer yas or no,as long we believe life is about choice,no one able to take what it called a 'soul'.
Your soul is like a guide it says the type of person that you are .
I dont know what you would use a soul for. I have heard your soul also acts as your concience.
in some beliefs the soul has a value and that "god" and the "devil" are trying to gather the souls and wichever one has the most at the end wins... kinda like the souls are goods so to speak and they have "net weight" i think the term is, so there just trying to get the most "goods" now practicly speaking wouldn't it be possible to by or trade those "goods" souls to other people.
To some power. What is a collection of money, cars, houses. People love to just have to have. Others it's to never be alone.
in the universe and darkth thi is total true that law of karma is working on power regards in the psychic world...
the souls can be helping & friendly only to goodness and mischievious to accompany the mischief... the levels of these things goes deeper we get result bigger...
I am searching the meeting of para-psychics and balancing habilitation with them ( friendliness with them ). Para-psychic do exist and this is sure and shot.
so why it is said in the psych that be like a kid and stressless and worryless
you when trick one on your level, you get tricked at bigger level... coz universe receive the impression and returns the result ...
so why the joker is the powerful msot in the tarot...
sorry I do apologise...
I do respect the art of tarot most and tarot readers are honorable to me...
I meant to say number zero the fool of major arcana
I don't know the abc of the tarot just my on friend is tarot reader...
the soul is who we are and the body is a vessel. when we died our soul leaves the body and moves on to the next stage of life. for our body cant go where our soul can
the soul is the eternal energy of that person, posessing it would probably give that power to the new owner...thus making soul collection both profitable and desirable.
Bleeding massacre how would/could that "energy" be harnessed, would a traded soul produce as much "energy", as a devoted soul, or would a devoted soul produce more, would the soul still be a complete soul? As the "energy is drained"?
Most forms of energy can be stored in inanimate devices. If the soul is just energy, can it also be stored in a battery, or a spring or some other device?
And once stored, what does one do with the energy?
Possessing something that belongs to someone else - anyting - gives you a degree of control.
Before attempting to use anything, it's best to be certain it actually exists. I see no evidence for the existence of souls and no one seems to be able to offer a description of a soul which is other than purely physical.
Mind you, now that I come to think of it, I've never heard of anyone attempting to possess anybody's soul and then discovering it simply did not exist.....I wonder could this be a conspiracy dabbler ?
Has anyone ever heard of someone trying to possess a soul and then being able to objectively confirm that it did exist?
I have certainly never heard of such a thing....perhaps the would be thief found he had his hands full and was not left with much time to think on such things.
Well, that's quite significant then. What form of objective verification was presented?
None, which is why I used the word perhaps, but I am ready to ask that exact question whenever someone turns up making the aforementioned claims.
In metaphor their is plenty of allowance for possession, that would make the soul a metaphysical concept, philosophy is the closest account for the soul, after metaphor. Physically it lacks any material representation. So the soul can "exist" in sentiment, grief, memento, and "charged" items (in my case my grandmas painting), so I possess that portion of my gramas soul, the soul she invested in that painting. The ethics of investing, or devoting your soul (whether you believe it exist, or "exist") is to consider the ethics of that which you devote, or invest your spirit into. Is it an assurance you expect in "reward", or a sensational stimulation? Because if you are "selling" your soul for a stimulating (physical, or emotional) you may be straining your mental circuts.
Well if you're going by the ancient Egyptian belief, a body needed it's soul in order to pass on to the afterlife. It was considered the worst possible fate not to move on through the life cycle.
To collect one's soul would be to stop the person from moving on. Perhaps it all began as a sort of punishment.
I believe that a soul is what keeps you alive. As far as a collection of souls, it'll just make you more stronger than before.
I believe that a heart is what keeps you alive. Then again, I guess it's the brain... or the liver, or kidneys, digestive system or the pituitary.
Of course there is evidence for those beliefs.
Tens of thousands of years of assertions to the soul and still not a single objective supporting evidence. Does that not cause one to actually want to ponder?
I have read alot of different views here and they are all good worth looking into even but if your asking what I believe then here it is....
I believe the soul of someone, or something, be it plant animal or human to be the conciseness of the body it in habits, tells you what's right and wrong, speaks to you inside your own head, when your thinking about something that's not just your brain working it's everything, your whole "being" and noone can own that God owns every soul he loves everyone but for those who don't recognize and I went over this on another board there is more than one path whether it be wiccan, muslim, christian, agnostic, Native American Heritage and belief in the "great spirit" it don't matter the good Omni Presence or the evil one in layman's terms satan are the only two beings that can own anothers soul. A friend of mine she's Agnostic more than Atheist, she knows there's something there and even prayed to get pregnant when she had been trying for four years then all of a sudden two weeks later she found out she was I mean we know there is something there it's not a figment of imagination.
even here on vampire rave you look at all the protection stamps and most, or at least all the ones I have seen say this "soul" is blah blah blah, A soul is real and noone can ever own it, even if you are a slave noone can tell you whats right or wrong, noone can make you think what they want you to think you choose to even if you are not free on the outside or "physically" which I believe is a self choice also, you are still free on the inside noone can get into your head and make you think the exact same thing as them, they can try, hypnotism and manipulation but you have to give in for that to work it's been proven that a strong willed, strong minded person cannot be controlled.
so anyway this is what I believe and that's that.
One "knows" what is demonstrably correct. All else is belief.
There remains zero objective evidence to support the soul and all of the supposed realm of the spiritual. And while many will pray and claim to receive what they had prayed for, tests (dozens of them), show that no correlation can be demonstrated between prayer and outcomes.
And while it's quite common for people to misrepresent belief by proclaiming that they "know" what it is they wish to assert, the truth lies in the many conflicting beliefs held; all without verifiability, which are all often proclaimed as "knowledge".
People have a devout desire for the soul to exist. But when one looks to the origins of such an idea, they find themselves immersed in cultures of primitive people with almost no understanding of reality, who substituted often absurd superstitions in place of their ignorance. Some of these superstitions persist to this day.
not sure what to say ? but a soul is relaeased once passed on
