Not an exact quote:
"Drink my blood and you will never go thirsty"
I was walking past a church in Preston (where i live) and saw a poster on the side of the church linking to this and it got me thinking.
Everyday, christians/catholics (is there any difference?) are drinking "the blood of christ"
i can't help but think it's too vampire like to be something holy. of course, i know it is only wine. But it's the thought that it is the "blood of christ" that counts.
But what i want to know is everyones thoughts on all of that. and maybe any theories, crazy or not, on Jesus and the last supper.
as a side point, Jesus also "resurrected from the dead" another vampiric feature.
so... thoughts? additions? all welcome :)
this is a great idea
suddenly christanity seems pretty cool
this take on it seriously makes you question some things.
Satan is one smart S.O.B, maybe he had a hand in the whole blood idea.
this is all i have for now i am going to seriously think about this before i give a full response
hmm well i`ve nevert thought of this.. and i must admit it was a good idea to post it on this forum.."drink my blood and u will never be thirsty"...yes it is strange... but i believe that the conotation came up from the link red wine-blood... and it refers to immortality of the soul...and there is no difference between christianity and chatolics.. maybe between chatolic and orotodxy ...but i don`t like to talk about this one...The last supper is the most impresive thing i believe...idk why but i find it strange as they are all there ghatered and the sound of the Jesus`s death is becoming clearly... anyway i don`t see how Jesus could be a vampire...i will think of it ...
hummmmmm very interesting indeed really opens the mind to a what if.i will half to probe this thought.
you wanted a crazy theory...
ob1 delivers crazy theory about any subject in 5mins!!
what if nothing in the bible did happen...
what if no prophet did exist...
what if the prophets weren't humans, but vampire...
malkavians...
it could explain a lot of crazy things in the bible! and all that blood stuff!
I've pondered that thought for quite a long time.. but it seems to me that more that vampirical they are cannibalistic.. they believe that in have they holy bread they are eating the body of christ... so what are they vampires of cannibals?
"This is my blood and drink it and you shall have eternal life, take this in memory of me"
amen!
Ob1 maybe on to something but I'm going to say 'fuck it' and hail SATAN!!!
Nice thread.
I do bel;ieve that things in the past (whether the story of Jesus is fact, ficiton or a mixture of the two) are inextricably linked to oneanother, and I think you have an excellent point.
and that is one reason i don't go to church
i was rised christain and about 14 i had been thinking about things like that.i thought it was just me.i was thinking things like if christains are so holy why
drink the blood and eat the flesh.
and (i love this part)the christain faith is
the only way to there god.....
a one god...don't it take two(male and
female) to make a child?
and here is one for you.....
have you ever noticed when in the church
that when the paster is (so called) reading
out of "the book" that they put it in a way
"they" want to you to think....
My family isn't very religious, but they tried bringing me to church. I went and looked into all, and It definately seams to confining. And Even from a young age, I thought the same things about Eating the body of christ. I didn't catch the vampire thing, i just thought they were all Cannibals.
this thread is turning to the religion//brainwash thread!
it has got a little sidetracked.
cancer! what did the old thread come to the conclusion of if you can remember?
i think i read an article somewhere that Judas became a vampire. i'll see if i can dig it up, if that's around that would help this thread
Nice.
"Drink the blood of Christ."
I had never thought about that before... you have an interesting point... resurrection, the whole blood thing...
mmmmmm..........
Never thought to connect the two things! And yes, there are a few differences between christians/catholics!
there is a definite vampiric quality to this legend.....I take things in the bible with a serious grain of salt as this book has been mistranslated numerous times throughout history....
however
all of christs miracles are explainable
ressurection-there are many chemicals which can simulate death....some of which were known in christs time
water to wine-powdered concentrates have been used in asia for over 3000 years
faith healing-every known religion has this....it is mind over matter
walking on water-tibetan monks leviating...
I do believe Jesus did live
I do believe he was a great man with a few interestiong abilities...
I do not believe he is the son of god any less than the rest of us are
but he may well have been a vamp?
I think it is possible
The Judas/vampire thing is played in the movie, Dracula 2000, if I remember correctly.
Thats a really good point actually. Never tought of that. Thats gonna puzzle me all day now.
The thought was that since man was made in the image of God and that we should all strive to be like Him and (since Jesus was the epitome of God's perfect image) to partake in the blood and flesh of Christ is to be one with him.
It's not literal - even in Biblical times. It's just like taking a blood oath.
i never really noticed that fact before...but it still doesn't make christanity any more appealing....i'll stick with being a Wiccan....it makes more sense than christanity....
I posted this reply in your other thread, if i recall correctly.. it went something like this;
51"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh." 52The Jews then disputed among themselves, saying, "How can this man give us his flesh to eat?" 53So Jesus said to them, "Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will have no life in you. 54Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; 55for my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink. 56Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood abide in me, and I in them. 57Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. 58This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like that which your ancestors ate, and they died. But the one who eats this bread will live forever
'Give me bread...'
wow i never thought about it!! now whenever i go to mass and the bischop says his lil speech im gonna be like "you lil vampire you" !!!
it is a good point, but it has to be based on your belief, if you believe in jesus then you will believe that wine his his blood, if not the its jus squished grapes that has alchol in it.
Interesting never thought about it but I think I am going to sit down and ponder this... seeing as I myself am christian.... but wow this has sparked my imagination and it seems my intrege my interests
A better explanation comes from the NASB version of Corinthians. It's really not related to anything vampyric in nature, just a rememberance:
1Cr 11:23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;
1Cr 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1Cr 11:25 In the same way {He took} the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink {it,} in remembrance of Me."
1Cr 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.
1Cr 11:27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
1Cr 11:28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
1Cr 11:29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.
1Cr 11:30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep.
1Cr 11:31 But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged.
1Cr 11:32 But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.
1Cr 11:33 So then, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.
When in doubt -- go to the source of the text. ;-)
...Catholics (which am i) believe the wine IS the BLOOD transubstanciated; protestants believe the wine is symbolic and no more than wine. both are christian religions.
...i converted years ago to catholocism - my primary reason was the mass and the transubstanciation! to drink the blood of Jesus (and Catholics can and do every single day!) is the act of taking Jesus into you - just as a sire will "transfigure" a mortal into the likeness of himself. so, in a very abstract way, the similarity of Jesus/Sire & faithful/servant is very parallel indeed! i like it! 8)
LoL realy ill have 2 ask my friend about it and get back 2 the thred
(i knew threr was no god or juses etc)
well i am back, i was on a christian site for a bit just to try some contranst, but in about 20 hours i got myself kicked off. i did remember this subject though and brought it up. apparently they completely disagree with the Bible as you guys have put up (i think it was DistortedSmile) and holycrap (please excuse the expression) they went insane. apparently they disagree with what the Bible states and took it off on their own twist. didn't get to stay long enough to find out more. thought this would be a nice tidbit in addition to the info given already.
personaly based upon what was quoted from the text (via DistortedSmile) i can't fault this postition, it obviously promotes drinking blood.
of course i was called an evil person, and they said people that drink blood are evil.
i know not all christians are like this, i hope the story didn't seem to off topic, and was interesting to some extent.
I realise the whole body and blood thing is taught as symbolism not literal....but have you heard of sympathetic magic....
using salt as blood in ritual.....
it is the symbology that really matters and your belief in it
so symbolically it is cannabalistic vampirism.....for years a friend of mine has been printing pamphlets about the dangerous cannabalistic blood fetish cult that must be stopped before they try to drown their children the name of this cult is christianity....hehhe
he gets a lot of laughter....and a lot of evil glares
atm im at school and i have jusrt asked my friend and he said it is ment to be that when you drink the wine it is soposed to purify you or sumthin like that
Too bad no matter what is said GOD doesn't exsist in my world......
The best candidate for first vampire that I've heard of is Cain. The condition matches the crime.
"It would be unfair if the Devil existed and God did not"
Regarding the diff between Catholics and the rest of Christianity, Paramour hit it on the head:
...Catholics (which am i) believe the wine IS the BLOOD transubstanciated; protestants believe the wine is symbolic and no more than wine. both are christian religions.
...i converted years ago to catholocism - my primary reason was the mass and the transubstanciation! to drink the blood of Jesus (and Catholics can and do every single day!) is the act of taking Jesus into you - just as a sire will "transfigure" a mortal into the likeness of himself. so, in a very abstract way, the similarity of Jesus/Sire & faithful/servant is very parallel indeed! i like it! 8)
I've often joked with Fundies that Christ was a vampire. He bid his followers to drink his blood, eat his flesh, and if they did so they would be resurrected after their death. Just as he too rose from the dead and flew into the heavens after he died. His followers sure act like a bunch of swayed ghouls, too. It's a great way to mess with their heads, but I digress.
I dont believe in the bible but this sounds like either Jesus Christ was so pure that just by drinking his blood allowed the purification of yourself. or this was just said as a metaphore for how pure The Lord Jesus Christ is.
Even I never thought about it , but still I don't see any connection, the blood notion has taken many symbolic forms through different times & cultures...On a more positive note though christianity was persecuted by rome for the fact that it was openly declared a sect based around a abborent cannibalistic nature...
well im an athist so i reckon its all bull
~my theroy~
on day after a drunken bum got home to his wife and children and to make his children behave he made up "GOD" and "the devil" to scare them ^_^
YES!!!!! the blood of Christ is a representation. And by the way its drinl the living water!!! The blood of Christ is a picture, of what he would do for us dying on the cross, and same with taking of the body. it's a picture of Jesus sacrifice for us!!!!
12angles27demons
haha i love that i love ur theory! GO DRUNKEN BUM!!!!
YAY a follower on my drunken bum theroy YAY
how could jesus sacrfice him -self if there is no god thus no jesus
yup-you cracked the bible code!this actualy makes the most jesus sense i ever heard!
First of all I believe it is spelled as Transubstantiation. Transubstantiation is also known as the doctrine of the real presence.
Although I am a schizophirinic: atheistic/roman catholic, I still believe that Jesus Christ did exist and giving an interesting theory that he is a vampire makes him even more appealing to me.
The belief of God and The Lord Jesus Christ has out lived any other religion and has a huge following the belief has even out lived empires, im sorry but something that has lasted this long and still exists till this day has got to have a truth behind it. but the Jesus the vampire thing, that quote from the bible is just a metaphore for Jesus.
lol never thought of it like that but it don't mean a thing if it aint got that ring lol sorry ill stick to my lil dark corner but good observation
I has taken me forever to actually read this post. I like the concept though it seems likely. hmm....
WOW .. I've been following this thread fromthe beginning and it's amazing the different ideals that so many people have ... I think I'd have to agree with this though .... "My advice don't be to literal on the bible and don't use it as a referance. Although it does contain the Word of God, the bible is still a man-made creation passed down by countless generations and translated in various ways that its original" ... No matter which Bible you read (those that do) everyone takes a different meaning or beliefe from each line of scripture ...
For information on Zoroastrianism click here or hare.
As for the Bible being the undisputed Word of God ... I don't think it can be conclusively stated any more than the Talmud (essentially the old testament), the Torah (rabbinical writings), the Koran, the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, etc. can be claimed to be the "Word of God," rather than the writings of deeply philosophical and richly thinking men with a definite world view (or world views).
An even moe informative site on Zoroastrianism is found here.
Oh, another one, SushiSan, which is older than Christianity and still going strong, hello, is Judaism.
Umm. Heh.
I reversed Talmud and Torah.
Torah is Old Testament.
Talmud is Rabbinical writings.
Thanks, ElderD. :)
No sweat, Req.
By the by, Hindu is even older than Zoroastriansm, if memory serves.
Moreover, it is from Hindu and Zoroastrian roots that we find the sun god Mithra, who was worshipped even into the times of the Roman empire, as Sol Invictus (The invincible sun).
Funny thing about Jesus' story... sounds a lot like Mithra. Heck, they even have the same birthday. Must be a coincidence.
Of course, if he was a vampire... it could've been him all along! *smack
Ahem, sorry.
What I also find interesting, considering the blood of christ, is the aspect of the Holy Grail. It is supposed to be the cup of christ which was used to catch his blood, dripping from the cross. - Another theory states that the Holy Grail is actually a metaphor for a possible son/daughter of Jesus. This also seems highly possible if you consider that marriage at this time was a bond between man and woman which did not require religous blessing or a priest . So Jesus could have been married. The catholic church in the middle ages considered sexuality as evil, so they could have simply dropped the fact that Jesus had children or siblings for that fact. The truth about that may be written in the original bible, which I believe the Vatikan must still have a copy, but we normal mortals (sorry immortals) will probably never see this edition.
But was Jesus a Vampire? I agree that vampirism is a curse, so it seems highly unlikely. If you consider Chistianity as a true religion. - If however you agree with Jewism, that christ was nnot the son of god then hence he could have been cursed (especially for such a heresy).
Second theory states that Jesus Christ was a normal human being until he was bitten by Judas (the Malkavanian) and then arose from the dead. This would no doubt be the greatest malkavanian prank of all times.
I personally do not belive in God or Jesus Christ as son of God. I do believe in his existence - as far as I know there are roman records of him or his crucification, but I'm not sure on that one.
Well anyway I'll think this one through a bit more, maybe there's more than meets the eye.
if i remember right historians have confirmed that Jesus did exsist. i am confused why this is even argued, it is like asking if Muhamd (sorry if i splet it wrong) , or Buhhda(i can never remember his actual name or how to spell this) exsisted.
hehehe go ancient catholicsm, been called evil more than a few times for having that belief by "fellow chirstians".
This is very interesting. God doesn't exist to me but i've never really thought about the whole drinking the blood of jesus. I'm going to have to ponder this for quite a while.
it is interesting no matter what you believe in. At least I think so. hmm
Muhammad, buddhism. (just studied it in school ... what happened with the laws?)
I was thinking about how he was 'staked' to the cross, kind of a coincidence isnt it?
Actually SickBag, if I remember right, the alternative theory of the Holy Grail isn't of the grail being Jesus' child, but Jesus' wife. The cup and the dagger having roots in paganism as symbolizing man and woman.
