The game often called "Light as a feather, stiff as a board" is most often strongly associated with ghosts, the paranormal, demons other odd things. This is mainly due to the portrayal of levitation in Hollywood horror films such as The Craft, The Exorcist and Ghostbusters II where a possessed person can be seen levitating up in the air on their own. But what is it really? The most common thought by most teenagers and other young people is that ghosts or something else supernatural and spooky is somehow picking up the person and levitating them up in the air, in some cases this may be the case - but the usual case is just a simple party trick that anyone can do, in theory, le't take a closer look at this shall we...
Some of the information below is taken from Richard LeFors Clark's book on HUMAN DIAMAGNETISM GRAVITY ANTENNA LEVITATION.
Diamagnetism is essentially a magnetic-neutral zone existing between a north and south magnetic field, which can be exploited for purposes of levitation.
Ok Ok - I hear you saying "Just tell us how to do it" - without going into the deep and meaningful scientific explanations which you can read about in Mr Clarks book, the basic thing you need to do to make the levitation work for you is:
1. Have 5 people and a steady chair ready, willing and able to help you in your levitation trick.
2. Decide who is going to be the person you levitate - put that person in the chair -
tell them to sit down, shut up and hang on :).
3. Sit the chair to face due West (sometimes this will work with the chair facing due North - if nothing happens try changing the position).
4. Stand 4 people around the chair in a square i.e. 2 people behind the shoulders and two at either knee (see diagram).
5. The person who is going to be levitated must sit relaxed, with both feet together on the floor, hands in lap.
6. All four participants surrounding the person in the chair should now extend their hands out with fists clenched except two fingers. Palms down, the person beside the shoulder places his or her fingers under the armpit - the person beside the knee places his or her fingers under the knee (you get the idea) - together everyone should try to lift the person in the chair first off before you do anything. You should find that you cannot do it.
7. Try again BUT THIS TIME........ - Everyone place their hands one on top of the other upon the chair sitters head - press down slightly (don't cave the poor persons head in) - no two hands of the one person should be touching each other i.e. one hand of each person on top of the other. Lay your hands as if you would heal this person in the chair! - In unison count to ten - on the count of nine remove all hands QUICKLY together and place under the person in the chair (under armpits and knees), on the count of TEN lift and UP THEY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Supposedly if you keep counting you should easily be able to hold the person up in the air while you count and lift down again slowly.
Anyone going to try this???
I tried doing this when I was younger...it failed compleatly, with me and my friends succeding in nothing but giggle fits. lol.
fun though
have you tried this? did it work?
i need to get some friends together and give a go sometime.
~W~
I had done it when I was younger with my two brothers. They told me not to open my eyes as I was the one being levitated.
This does work, use caution when using any type of levitation techniques, few work.. But work quite well.
I've seen people try this and fail numours times. I don't personally believe that it works at all. You can lift a person with enough people but nothing like this so claims. Just my personal opinion.
I know that probably 99% of us have seen this done with the results being failed attempts, however I have seen it done once where it worked. I could never figure out how which is why I seached for a how.
The book explains the science behind it...DIAMAGNETISM GRAVITY.
If you can create the magnetic-neutral zone it is possible, at least the best explanation for what I experienced.

I'm going to go out on a limb and tell you all this with the risk of have people shout 'bullshit' at their monitor's screen. I'm also not one to believe just anyone's claims.
I did it 17 years ago with some friends, it worked. Yes, it did, they were light as a feather, and it took just the tips of our fingers to lift them. We kept trying with different people too, and it worked every time that evening. I haven't tried it since. Also, there was no chair involved when we did it- just a person laying flat on the floor.
You don't have to believe me, I'm just sharing. I don't believe much of what I read or hear in regards to these kinds of things either. I just couldn't help but share.
I tried it when I was ourner and it didn't work do you think it was due yo the age.
Nah, we did not use a chair either. The TV was turned off, and no music was playing. As well, the lights were still on. I had to close my eyes, but felt my body floating even though my hands were on my chest.
I guess the feathers need to be concentrating on the moment, but I can tell you that the responses from the feathers were of anxieties, stress and partial fear that it did work.. They ordered me not to open my eyes until I felt the floor on my back once more.
This was in the time when we were practitioners of "darker" magic(k), but not the left hand path kind of B.S. dark crap. The real deal that is not taught by just anyone named Lavey or Crowley or crap like that. We were into some pretty heavy stuff back in our High School days. Back when the book of 777 was still in print.
I don't know about this. Course, I believe Images. =) But I want to hear some more about the meridians or zones where it can happen. ?? Also, any other experiences where it did happen? Mind over matter? Matter/energy being manipulated?
Well, the location was Milwaukie, Oregon. A very Leyline/Vortex associated part of the State. That should bring out a bit of enlightenment for those familiar with that location where esoteric rites are concerned, considering Witch Mountain is not far from the river near Elk Rock Island.
I did it with my friends in my living room once when we were messing around with a ouija board that night also
It worked, we tried it with all of us taking turns in the chair and four others aorund the chair the rest watching , we tried swaping places and it worked everytime
I repeated the experiment in my development circle with adults a few years ago and no matter how hard we tried it never worked
I think it has something to do with belief..
as kids we were more in tune with the idea that it could work
with the adults it was harder because they are automatically expecting it to fail so only participate in it half arsed
So I wonder if it's more prone to work in certain areas where the energy is higher? Like, Sedona, Arizona, for example. It's a place well known for it's energy there. Cancer would probably know. =)
we have done this many times when I was young from the floor and also from 2 chairs
it worked about 80% of the time I feel it has o do with who is doing it and how strong of an energy force and belief that they can do it. I would say if you do it and it works be careful not to lose concentration and drop the person hard on the floor. LOL
I never related it to paranormal but rather mind over energy, as seen with Chris Angel doing the same with 4 small framed teens and a car.
We use to do this as kids also, it's pretty cool to be able to do it. I've once done it with only two people picking up the third.
Martial Arts teaching~~ all is of the mind, you can't break boards or bricks if your mind is set negatively.
You will break your hand or foot instead.
I remember being in sixth grade and hearing my friends had tried it and it worked. I didn't really know what it was at the time so I believed them anyway. I'm pretty sure none of my friends would want to try this so I guess I'll never know.
I remember doing this, and yes it did work. I am thinking it has something to do with the weight of the body being dispensed at precise points.
Just my thoughts :D
This works.. with or without the chair.
You can throw the b.s. flags if you want. But I have seen it done and participated..
I tried it last year with a few friends at my college; there were four of us all together. While my one friend's legs and upper torso were lifted off the ground, he was still 'sitting' and his entire body didn't levitate.
When I was the "floater" (lol) I didn't feel my physical body lift...HOWEVER I think I put myself in a meditative state because I did feel my spiritual body separate temporarily. I guess it was an out of body experience; that's the best way I could sum it up. It was pretty cool - I still felt lightheaded after it was done lol.
So, its not a physical experience but more of a spiritual experience then? Thats a new one on me.
I believe in levitation and that it does work. It all boils down to belief, if ever person who is taking part in the experiment completely believes that this will work, then it will work. If you have so much as one in doubt then it won't work.
The mind is a powerful thing we just don't use it to its fullest potential.
true we often disregard the mind and focues on the physical body
It is part Physics, part Physcology, and nothing supernatural.
Damn, now ain't I a pisser' on parades.
Hmm..
I attempted this while I was very young and we never made it past the armpits, people giggle at the slightest things...interesting reading the comments.
i have tried it as child then again as teen and it worked both times. you have to believe in it and each other but it can work. some may not get anything and that is okay
I have heard of this being tried but I have never attempted it myself but I am more inclined to think it's all a question of self belief/ mind over matter.
my friends and i tried this when we were younger. it did not work back then, but i do believe that it can work. i would like to try it again sometime.
I think if you have enough people it should work, its just a case of enough strength
I cant find anyone willing to do this! Oh, well I will try this eventually when I find enough people
I've never seen it work, but it's always funny to joke with your friends "wanna play light as a feather flat as a board."
It is commonly known that the such games are dependant on trust, so what you say as, " no one is brave enough here." may be, 'Nobody seems to trust me enough.'
