An "angel" is termed as " a supernatural being who mediates between the God(s) and mortals."
The term "angel" comes from the Greek word angelos, which means "courier". This concept of beneficial and tutelary spirits has exsisted in mythologies the world over.
The angel's primary duty being to shuttle messages to and from God(s), and occasionally to enforce God's will, be it aid or punishment (such as Sadam and Gamorrah).

So the question I pose to you, my brothers and sisters, is that if Angels do indeed exist, are they merely a conduit for man to feel that they have a more tangible connection to thier God(s)? Are they nothing more than restless spirits with nothing better to do? Do you even believe that they exist?

I had a debate over this with a fellow vamp goth about a year ago. She believed that demons existed.. but not angels, because she didnt believe in the bible or God. So I asked her where demons came from, and she said "from lucifer of course".

I do indeed believe in angels.. just as i believe in their fallen counterparts, demons.

I do not believe that all angels are benevolent either. If one follows the bible, and the plagues of Egypt, I would say the taking of the first born rather proves that during the time of Moses.

I dont believe that Celestial Angels perform just one fucntion either. I believe that Celestial Angels are the liasons between earth and God, and also serve as his messengers and servants.

Beyond that.. I personaly have not studied the subject to much, but wouldnt mind hearing from anyone that has, along with perhaps a footnote of where any references were taken or are found.

Yes! angels do exsist as do all the gods and goddesses of other major religions.
The Bible speaks of three distinct forms of angels a watcher who is your guardian angel, a recorder who records all that you say and do and a soldier who performs gods work.
The Bible speaks many times of the existance of other Gods and not just graven images. It also speaks of Magic and Witchcraft such as the Witch of Endor.
There was an interesting Book thats out called The Lost Books of Eden, these books where found along with the Dead Sea Scrolls but where left out by the Chuch when the Bible was compiled.
I believe in the existence of all spirit forms and gods that have passed the test of time, even in the spirit world much like our own you most likely have different Cultures and Beliefs that make up the whole of the body spirit realm.

I do not see how someone can classify and angel as a "bible" related being, if that were the case then wouldn't demons also be "bible" based.
For as long as I have seen words written and heard of tales, myths, legends and so on, there has always been mention of angels, back before even the bible itself became a written passage sold by the billions. There has always been some form of avenging angel or healing angel or I had a vision and they came unto me and laid hands to my head and spoke without moving thier lips...

sorry, i ramble at times... but the reality of it all is, there is always a balance. Good to evil, light to dark .. even nutrality has it's accompanyment, just within the various shades of gray.

Renuit Im simply useing the Bible as a reference not a final authority. You are correct there are many other sources even dating back to Before Christ.
Im simply stateing my opinion and giving some good matereal reference. You ban approach the subject from many religious points of view but you either have your own opinion or use have to use a reference.

angels are Gods army plain and simple. they do Gods killing. they do the same as any country's army would do.

I believe in angels, that they are divine beings. I also think we have guardian spirits.

Let's step away from fiction and the Bible/religion for a moment...The Title Angel is a Higher than human energy level...Just as the word Christ...They are beings that are beyond human...Beyond in many ways, but mostly based on their amount of pure energy...

I have read many palces where Angels can be both bad and good. There are those who have been cast down that make up the bad. There are also those who have been lifted up to do good.
Just remember for every action, there is an opposite reaction. With bad, there can be no good.

RaNuit - the only reason the bible was brought up - was my friend believed all demons came from lucifer, but refused to believe in angels because they came from the bible. (I would rather not have my words taken out of context).

I did not take your words out of context hun, if you think on it and read what I wrote again I merely stated that I do not understand how someone can see one as being of this and not the other.
Hence why I spoke about angels being mentioned in and throughout all times even past the point of written words...

I believe they exist, and I believe that they do carry messages to mortals, but I also believe they do as they will, to help mortals.

I have felt incredicble fear, it is a rare event. If this means anangel or demon is near, I cannot say for sure.

Only once in memory have I felt terror while I was fully awake. Turns out the man I looked at when I got the feeling of terror is a child molster.

I do not have if Guardian Angels exist.

I do not believe in the Bible either. But generally if Angels exist, given the tasks of killing and spreading plaque is true, they are no different from demons.

Sometimes I watch "Hex", seems the Angels have their own agenas and are free to do whatever they want. They are rather bored too, and very skilled at manipulating people!

I do believe in angels but why they are here or wot they are here to do i do not fully understand. I think that if an angel feels the need to help someone out they will use there powers to do so, also think that some angels do as they please and do not follow anyone including god.

I believe in angels and demons. You cannot have one without its counterpart. I wish I could give hard concrete evidence to prove the existence of both. Existence is a tricky subject anyway. We exist , but if noone knew us or has ever seen us, we do not exist to them or in their world so to speak. There are people right here in the city that I live in that exist,but I have never seen them? I could use that as proof that they do not really exist. They same could be said for angels. If one has not seen one or felt their power, they may say they do not exist. Some do not believe in them because they consider the religious aspect of them to be nothing more than a fairy tale.

So it is possible for people to be "influenced" by angels and demons?

I belive with my whole heart in the existence of angels. They are the beings that are the inbetween between humans and god. They are not human and they are not gods either. I hope I have one myself and sometimes I could sware that i do. It feels as if sometimes when I get really depressed I can feel this light surounding me and it is easy for me to somehow find a meaning to help me feel like going on living.

This seemed like a good place to start with my posting so here goes....I think there are both angels and demons that walk among us. I believe that they are the ones that come into our lives for a brief moment and either being aid or chaos and then leave almost as quickly.

Well, angels purpose' is to protect and heal. According to Sylvia Brown (which may, or may not even be true) we each have up to ten angels watching over each of us, guiding us. Then there are spirit guides who help lead us down the right path. But both communicate with us through the subconcious, and deeds.

I do not believe in angels or their father and enemy.

For me, angels represents people of certain characteristics. Such as people who do good by society's morals. People who rescues kitties from a fiery death. People who are genuinely kind and generous.

The Christian mystic Emanuel Swedenborg has a similar imagination. In his late work Conjugal Love he describes, that a soul of a man and a soul of a woman are united by the marriage in Heaven to become an angel.

I believe in angels. Its hard to explain why without sounding stupid but I will try. There have been times I've been in a situation and I feel as if someone is there guiding me in the right direction, kind of like I'm being "possessed" at the moment. There have been times that I feel really overwhelmed then this sudden calm comes over me, as if someone is holding my hand telling me that everything is going to be ok.

If angels exist, they are Jehovah's henchmen, (if he exists) and should not be considered to be automatically a good thing.

Also, just because it's a spirit or pretty apparition of some sort does not mean its an angel - no matter what he crystal-huggers say.

well the thing is that i have heard that also angles r 2 send messages of peace and things like that.

I believe that there are seven different types of Angels, and each type serves a different purpose.
1. Archangels-The highest of all angels, they are assigned to serve the gods and goddesses.
2. Quadrant Angels-These are the guardians of the Watchtowers of the North, East, South, and West. Their names are Raphael, Michael, Gabriel, and Uriel. They are assigned to govern the earth and its inhabitants.
3. Guardian Angels-Everyone is born with a guardian angel. This angel is in control of sharpening our intuition. Their power is mid-range.
4. Healing Angels-These angels are miracle workers who physically, mentally, and emotionally heal people and animals, as instructed by the gods and goddesses. Their power is restricted to healing and healing miracles.
5. Prayer angels-They listen to and record our prayers. Every prayer we speak is recorded and sent to the gods and goddesses for approval, disapproval, or delay.
6. Special Angels-These have complete diversity and can acheive almost any miracle. Their main focus is to help individuals complete their karmic cycles.
7. Escorting Angels-These angels are the transporters from this world to the next. Some may refer to the Angel of Death when talking about this kind of angel. The Angel of Death is supposedly cloaked in black and prepares the family for the exit of a loved one.

but personally i think that legends are true about Angels and what they can carry out... some are to save, some to help (Gabrial), some for love (cupid), some are war (Michael)....its all different

and sometimes we think of our soul-mates as our angels, being sent to us to live life happily

If there isn't a god then angels will be restless ghosts. If they do exist then that will prove that there is a god/godess/gods so why are they set different tasks?

Why are we viewed as demons when I view myself and others as mearly as misinterpreted angels? With an addict/longing for death/blood.

First, if anyone would like a good reference book to delve deeper into the matter, "Ask Your Angel" is a great one. It helps with meditation techniques to promote Astral Projection, and the contact with your own Angel(or rather, Spiritual Guide, etc).

But as far as the discussion on whether or not Angels/Demons exist... I would tend to agree with the aforementioned view that they are spiritual beings of a much higher vibration/dimension/energy level then our own. To classify them as good or bad would... kind of put a damper on the entire universe in general.

Not to get of ssubject(but hopefully to help me make a point), I don't look at "God" as the Biblical God, Buddah, or any other man made religion boasting to know the truth. The fact of the matter is, if there is a creative power out there governing the universe, giving the spark of life, and breathing energy into every living thing, it couldn't have the concepts of Hate, Jealousy, or Revenge. It would be a creative force simply pushing everything in a dynamic direction to acheive the goal... Which in my mind, is enlightenment of yourself.. and helping to enlighten those around you.

Angels, I would surmise, would by beings that understand more about the nature of the universe than we do, and assist in that dynamic direction. Whether or not we understand their intentions, whether or not we can begin to comprehend their purpose is really irrelevant. We all know their is more to it than just this. We feel the energy, we taste it in life with everything we do... And I believe that there those out their helping us do it.... in retrospect... there are probably those out there trying to hinder our progression. Don't let 'em. ;)

Yeah I believe in angels. From when I was younger my mom had a sticker on her car that said I believe in angels. I have had some close calls that must have been helped by something...

Do Angels exist? well i believe that if they do in fact exist then i would hae to say that they are "Gods" slaves then, for the simple fact that they are sent to do his work, who's to say that the dead and the angels do not want to just sit up in heaven (if there is one) and do absolutetly nothing...

i guess without direct experience one could never really know anything. those who are really interested have found evocation to suffice aside from other vices.

I do beleive there are angles..They conect us to the spirit world and also show some people the better sides of life. I beleive some are brought back as people to help someone..I have been told very many theories of angels and wat they do to help people.

I believe angels do exist but they are not speficially conduits for gods I believe they are a hybrid race..

well at first i posted some defitions which i found quite useful myself.. but i had personal expierences too... when i was dying at aged 13.... its creepy when i saw a smiling figure looking at me, while my mother was crying and holding me to her... from that day forth... yes i belive in angels :)

I have every reason under the sky to believe angels really do exist. Once I was carried in the water when I suddenly was flipped off my tube while riding down the Connecticut river. I had so many thoughts rushing through my mind, but surprisingly it amazed me when I realized how long I was under water, and I felt strength being given to me. I work with angels on a daily basis in my magick, so I guess I have a debt to pay, ever since.........

If what you are saying is true. Wouldn't we have had more encounters with them? For if we do not encounter them how do they exist making a connection to the Gods seem more tangible?

what angels are is gods warriors and messengers they are not some pretty blonde women with a halo and a white gown
angels can look as beautiful and peaceful as they want and in a split second they can change into the most ferocious looking beast to scare there enemy in battle they are used to do what ever god wants but mostly to be warriors that is why they can change into whatever they wish to become what the enemy fears most or to be realy beautiful before god

i think about the encoutring aspect, that it happens according to the situation, or maybe how much the individual is actually attuned... for me for example it happened in a momonet where my life was nearly at its ending... thus it was for sure a specific occasion... also i know of indivduals whom had similar expierences as well...

religion and mythology. is not a pick and choose subject. you cant for instance say "well god is real. but jesus did not"

I fyou believe in demons then you (should) believe in angels because they both are such a strong part of one another. However both i do not believe are as they are depicted in art and religion. I do not believe that angels are winged blonde humans with harps and i dont believe demons are red with little horns.

i totally agree with you, i think their apperances are the same as anyone else's. they will not stand out in a crowd by looks.

I believe that both angels and emons exist, just not in the way they are usually presented. Personally, I believe that Angel is a name given to a helpful spirit or soul and that Demon is given to a harmful one.

I do believe in spirits, but I believe the terms 'angel' and 'demon' are just names we've given to determine wether a spirit is helpful or distructive.

Yes I do believe in angels..
I believe they are souls who have passed on who were someone very close to you.
Whether it be a family member, a very close friend, or even lover.. They are there looking over you to try and keep you safe.. If your not in tune with them though, you'll miss what they are either elling you or trying to show you..

i have seen angels i have 3 of them waching me all the time and truevamp you have one but you cant see them yet my friend
