Have you ever witnessed or experienced an event and afterward thought you knew it would happen? What I would like to know here is what you would call that, and why. Is it a momentary psychic connection the mind makes, or is it just an educated guess? Do you have your own personal explanation for it?

I have had it happen to me. I don't think it was psychic or anything like that. Its like a funny feeling in your stomach. I think it may have to do with with spirit guides, if they even have the power to subconsciously alert us to something! Dreams that come true are a specialty I have, not sure why. But I always get that weird feeling in my stomach.
they are called premonitions and the most common thin associated with them is de ja vu. for me, it happens while i sleep. premonitions are the only things i see when i sleep, so i'm more used to them then anything else. i don't really know how to explain them though. all i know is it happens and it's like you have either witnessed or experianced it before. hope this little tid bit of information helps
Yes people have those feelings of deja-vu described generally as seeing incidents unfold prior to actual action ocurring. Known as premonitions generally thought to be brought on by stress or illness....
I have done this with poker where i would know what card would come on the river or the turn. Perhaps though I am only remembering when i was correct, and not the million other times that i thought something would happen and it didnt.
There is however a strong sense of something else when we experience 'deja-vu'. I don't know if my explanation will be totally agreeable but to me, when one is experiencing deja vu, it is accompanied by a sense of almost disorientation or a mild dreamlike quality. For that moment when everything feels like it's happened before or you knew it would happen, things feel (or perhaps I should say you feel) out of place, like the record is on the wrong speed or like someone else is experiencing this.
I don't want to make it seem too crazy but on a very subtle level, I have never experienced a heavy deja vu without that slight feeling of disorientation or 'ackwardness'. That's the one thing that makes me feel that there is more to the experience than mere coincidence. Whether that is supernatural prophecy or a chemical release in your body, I don't know.
I think everyone has the ability to be physic some are just more connected with that part of their mind than others.
I have had dreams and even visions while awake of things that I felt was going to happen and every time I did, it happen.
The human brain is ultimately, a computer with nerves instead of circuits. It works faster than any man made computer and there are things we don't understand about it yet.
Possibly all this feeling comes from is the subconscious brain working faster than your conscious brain.
I have been trained in my profession to read body language and to know and understand patterns of behavior so when I use these things people sometimes think i have "read their minds" and am psychic. I have used this skill in other areas of my life.....these are educated guesses.
Now......with that said, I will also say that there have been times in my life when I would have SWORN that I had already experienced something and yet others swear I had not. These are the deja vu or premonition type things that make me go....HMMMM. And think to myself....maybe there IS something else in the universe that is working.
Yes , I have had that happen.. But i think it was the spirit guides trying to warn me persay. Because it was something that told me before hand, I had this feeling and then it did happen.. But I told my mother before and she took preventitive measures.
A number of years ago I was with this friend and I had this feeling that She was going to be Hurt in some way not bad though (thats how I felt). She did not think anything of it. Later that Day she gor Hit by a car riding her bike. She only got a few scrapes nothing that required her to stay in the Hospital. She now says that if I feel something like that again I should tell her. I have not felt any scince.
I'm at a loss what to call it, but I have seen/felt a variety of events before they happened. I feel it is a gift or curse but I have not been able to either predict nor anticipate the type of messages that will come. They just seem to come, and from my experience they are rarely wrong.
its an educated guess as well as a gut feeling, always trust what you feel and you cant go wrong!
I'm pretty sure there's a big difference between premonition and educated guess. Premonition is a psychic sense of what is to come . "I knew that would happen" is an educated guess.
Premonitions come from a brief moment of contact with the psychic mind which is the link between physical and divine minds.
I have those experiences all the time and some call it premonitions and to a point they are but the brain has a limitless capacity for things we know nothing about. Some also believe that before we come here we make a blue print of our lives with everything mapped out and when we get these premonitions or de ja vu then it is like a marker to let us know we are on the right path
most things people see as "oh i just KNEW it would happen" are either seeing the effects of self fulfilled prophecy, or a storyline like that of a dream. either they wanted something bad enough that they made the situation into one where the thing they believe or want happens. Or, like dreams that are not coherent but seem to make a story, they are putting things together and saying that it happened BECAUSE of something they did, or they knew it, but its only after the facts that they see these connections and so their mind is just putting the pieces together, not "knowing the future".
I would be interested to see the ratio of thinks we feel might happen to what actually does. I am not discrediting psychic abilities or premonitions, but rather looking at it from a more scientific point of view. Lots of times we get inklings as to what may happen... call it intution, and educated guess, or just a unknown picture of the future. what i am getting at is that we have those feelings all the time and that i believe only a small percentage of them come true... and that might just be explained by statistical probablity.
The really interesting thing to me is that a deja vu rarely occurs with something important. Most of the time, it's a conversation that feels eerily redundant or some minor home 'accident' like spilling milk all over the floor that you'd swear happened exactly the same way in your mind before but not in reality.
I too have heard and read that the feeling...that weird out of synch feeling could be from things like the subconscious functioning faster or at a different level of perception or that the brain has gotten signals crossed and is interpreting the present as the past which would give that sense of a memory as it's happening. Still, I'd like to think that our brains don't misfire like that. I HAVE read though that certain nervous disorders bring a lot of similar 'deja vu' feelings so maybe there's something to it.
Yes. It's not like a full-blown hallucination for me, it's more like a faint suggestion or a flicker of a vision in my mind's-eye. I know it's not a brain malfunction because I've seen things that have most definitely come to pass before they happened.
i have had that happen a few times. But it was more like i dreamed it would happen and i was recalling a dream.
well i believe this can be psychiness or an educated guess depending on your mind frame. many ppl were born with the psychic gift but most waste it so i suggest u don't do so.
I would call it intution! It happened to me once I was driving and there was a van in front of me in the other lane and i just felt that he was going to turn left so i started to slow down and sure enough he turned left from the middle lane and I hit him.
But since i had slowed down it wasn't that bad of a accident.
I have many times had dreams of events happening that make no sense until they happen and then I would recall the dream. That may be what your having
I think for me it was just a gut feeling it was going to happen or how it happend, but I'm not really sure if thats considered a educated guess or having a psychic connection.
i think that it feels psychic but i think maybe you just see more than you let yourself believe you do.
Two guys walking on the pavement/sidewalk; not in a suspicious manner or dress sense........but I follow them using cctv.
I see them walk all the way to the front of the building and wait outside of the main doors. They chat with people.......but I kept an eye on them.
It later transpired that they were attempting to influence jurors.
Not anything psychic , just intuition.
I think that when something like that happens, it probably is a psychic flash. Most people have some form of psychic ability, they just don't tap into it. If something is strong enough, it can break through that barrier though.
I get that "this has happened before " feeling and my ears ring and the world becomes sureal. I dont usually know what only that it is not going to be good and most times its seconds before it happens and I am standing in quicksand!
There have been times when I knew well in advance and was prepared but I think thoses times were partly a good guess and being able to read body language.
I think its gut intuition as well things that ponder you to the point of becoming real to you
We've all had out of body expriences at one time or another. When you spirit leaves you body when you are at rest, in a deep sleep and travels.
Travels where ?
In the physical plane time is passing second by second, so 10 seconds ago is the past. As you read this you are passing through time.
But in the spiritual sense, time is measured quite differently...actually the past and present both occupy the same space. For your spirit to see things that are later remembered by you as they happen...deje-vu...is simply a memory from you sleeping state. If you feel yourself falling and wake up and never hit bottom it's a return of your spirit...if you had hit bottom....you would never wake up again.
These are not dreams...but rather experiences of the future not yet experienced.
The term, "I knew that would happen."....would in my mind be what I would call an educated guess---Based on , life exprierences and or common sense.
Premonitions, however, may very well be in tune with that if the phsyci- and or that of a divine influence.
I tend to have precognitive dreams- if that is the same thing.
I believe that it is called premonitions. (I think I spelled it wrong.) I have had that happen several times in my life. I actually consider it normal.
I have had a few premonitions most of mine come to me in dreams and I don't realize till later after it has happened unfortunately.
Sometimes I'll realize that a premonition is coming true in the middle of the event. It's like a bucket of cold water has been dumped on me. I hate it when that happens b/c it's usually too late to do anything about it, like getting hit by a car.
I think everyone has had this experience at some point in time.
Premonitions, de ja vu, educated guess...or perhaps play out a scenerio as you have dreamt it before.
Maybe a bit of foreshadowing that was bound to come down the road.
Either way, I find it very common and sometimes can envelope a positive outcome.
Premonitions and such I view as a good thing though. It makes you realize what you are doing and remember it when it happens. Helps to make you more aware of your surroundings in a way. It may be something simple but it may have a deeper meaning in the end.
have had this happen to me and to me its just a sort of intuition i guess i would call it
Almost everybody is wiser in hindsight ;->
And a few things one might be forced to witness are so exceedingly stupid to start with that the outcome is clear for everybody.
oh,sure I had.I always have dreams at night and sometimes I get the same thing at the day after...
some call it deja-vu,some couincidence, and some subconcious wiseness...I choose:subconcious wiseness...:)
Like I have said the mind has a limitless capacity for being able to do things we never thought we could do. testing it would just allow humans to delve a little deeper into what is possible for everyone
Have had similar instances over the years, but not so much that I would actually try to put a label on it...
I have had several and I think the one that really hit home was a vision of a roll over I kept seeing... I really though it would be me in time because I drive way to fast on the highways.... Well it was not me... a Simi truck that hit my dad that rolled and when I saw it and all the pictures of it... that was what I had been seeing... allot of time we don’t know what it is were seeing till the time come and there it is... The wasn’t just dreams I would have them awake as well... very chilling thing when you finally get what it was!
what i have is useually a feeling like the gravity in the room just got multiplied by ten and a sort of dreadfull feeling then smothing bad usually follows
I think some people do have premonitions. They are not always straight forward when recieved so, it may not be dawn on that person that they have had one until after the fact.
I was once very good at seeing the cards I would pull from this slot machine game on a site I play on.. whether it be my psychic ability connecting, or just a fluke.. I think my abilities kick in alot more often than as of late.. so no line to be drawn~NFA
Its partially an educated guess, but also basic psychology and knowing people.
Consider the fact that human beings have a large portion of their brains (I think it's either 80 or 90%) that they do not use. Some people are capable of tapping into those areas, so it is possible that it is a psychic premonition.
that's happened to me a lot. i wouldn't really call it a psychic thing. i'd say it's more of the educated guess.
I experience this often. So does my boyfriend although his is much more intense. He has had some dreams that occured over 10-15 years ago that he has shared with me that often become true. It's pretty weird.
I would like to think I am able to tap into the "nether regions" of my brain, and that is why I know things before they happen! I still get that freaky feeling in my gut though!
before that psunami hit india i kept having odd thoughts of psunamis...of course it was nothing relevant with no details....but that was different...
I do get these feelings. But they only come when something bad is going to happen. I can't see what is going to happen but I know it's bad. What I do is clear my mind and concentrate. These "feelings" as I call them have saved me from alot of trouble. some call them preminitions or being phsycic I think mine are more of a preminition though.
I've felt this, and it has kept me from harm. A "flash" and inner eye see something to be, and a sense of nausea would hit me when it was really strong.
I believe it has kept me from skull injury in a pool. Call me silly, but I'm a believer.
well I wouldn't call it psychic, but I would also not dissmis the thought.
mmm, i think maby its like a special talent your born with .....maby

Possibly, though like I said, I believe we all have the capacity for psychic perception, it's just a matter of developing one's skills.
