Past life regression, as far as I understand it, is when you undergo a meditation or hypnosis to discover your past lives.

First question: Is that definition correct? lol.

Second question: Has anyone here gone through past life regression? If so, could you explain how the process works, and, if you are willing to tell, your end results?

I would love to hear your responses. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately i haven't undergone one myself. A friend of mine however did and allthough i don't know the procedure, he did tell me that it enlightened him to certain aspects of his personality and overall gave him a better understanding of himself.

As stated correct defenition, as for the experience, I only know by sudden momory flash back and meditation, as it happen a couple of times but I also know medium can find it.

sometimes I wonder if what we think is an example of past life regression really is only some sort of repressed memory or emotion from our subconscious.

I'm not saying I don't believe in what you're talking about, I'm just bringing up something I've been wondering about. I think it can be both things really...

You have defined it clearly. i have attempted to undergo a past life regression.

i have some very significant doubts about the experience i had. i will say for sure that the visions were very clear and detailed. however, i do not know if guided visualization was the only thing that i experienced.

as such, i write off the experience as being of little more significance that what my subconscious has to say. though reincarnation is a possibility, no one truly knows. i took what i could from what my subconscious had to say with a hefty grain of salt.

of course, this past life regression happened with an amateur at best, so perhaps this experience wasn't as valid as it could have been.

I'd like to try it eventhough I don't necessarily believe in it. The god is in the detail - you can have ideas suggested that trigger your own experiences and responses however, if you're visualising yourself driving a 1956 Studbaker and it's 1955 there's an obvious flaw

I agree with Craig. I'm not sure if it really exists, but your description is like others I've heard. I'm wondering the purpose of myself. (forgive my lack of faith, do not mean to offend) :}

I have done a little research on this and your definition is correct. I do have some memory flashes that I would live to find out their origin. Unfortunately, I have not gone under hypnosis. I have tried to write down these memory flashes though, in hopes of someday finding out their meanings.

I have undergone it with a little meditation tape. The results at the time were quite amusing but it's always been hard for me tell just how much of it is my hopeful and boundless imagination that can be triggered by everything in hypnosis. I saw interesting things, looked like a different person through a mirror. But a mind can create anything to make it seem real. I'm a skeptic and probably always will be. But that doesn't mean I don't cherish experiences like that. I just choose to not put all my faith in them. ;)=

Liquid Saint, again well said. It is not a bad experience overall, and it's not even an experience that has to be doubted before it can be integrated as one of our better memories. However, it should be taken with a grain of salt or two or three in terms of how "truthful" the vision is.

i have gone under meditation and had memories but i am not sure how thou.
i have figured out i am part of a clan thou

i havent had mine done yet because the guy i get my cards read from his friends does past life readings and whenever he has a party the lines always long another thing i want to get done is get my aura photographed.

I have not gone through anything to bring out my memories. They just came to me when I was young. Some times in "dreams" and some times in waking visions.

well i remember the very first dream i ever had and i was a ballerina and i got bitten by a vampire and rolled down winding stares in to pitch blackness, i am not sure if that is a past life regressed but i have been in to vampirism ever since......i was only five years old and i wasn't even scared when i had the dream....i woke up craving blood.,,,,it was really really weird....to be so young

That method can work,But..somtimes your memories can only come back IF you mind wnats you to remember.Sometimes to unlock..a memory of a past life..you must trigger it.
Either by a smell,touch..or a vosion of somthing that can make you remember a past event and trigger a domino affect of memories.

was light reflect of water onto my cealing in my room.The sight..umlocked a past memory..and like dominos..it unlock everything one after another.
much better then hypnosis,
or being 'put under'.

I have had two sessions of pastlife regression. One which was measured with a biofeedback machine. He said I was a difficult subject to hypnotize as I was under but my brain was very active. He would have to work with me a few times. I did see things but they were flashes and I was aware of the noises and surroundings but felt cold and heavy. Like I was weighted sort of. I didn't have another session. I only saw flashes of things in various time periods.

The other regression was different and it was given by an organizational group and I only saw one lifetime as a Mayan female.

I always take these things as interesting but...I leave a bit of room for skepticism.

From my experience, past life regression seems to occur in that "I'm asleep but still very aware of my surroundings" stage of sleep. I'll have what appear to be dreams but as I've recollected everything, it all seems to piece itself together to help me get an idea of my past lives.

I'm curious too if anyone else has similar experiences?

That's interesting VampyricRose, I haven't really felt that before... The most I can say I have felt is a very familiar sensation, or while meditating in front of a mirror I noticed my appearance changed in the reflection and appeared as someone different but with the same general features as myself.

I haven't had much happen in my dreams, those just seem reserved for random funny, beautiful, scary, or sexual themes :P

I have never gone through that but I keep having a reoccuring dream of drowning in a lake and I was tild that is probably the way I died in a past life.

To the first question, you have it correct. The second, no, I have not. I haven't met someone I would trust enough to try it with!

I am interesting to know about my past and about the strong feeling I have for some of those in my life. If I have "met" them in a past life.

your definition is right but as for having any personal expereince - sadly i cant say so.
But if you have dejavu a lot thats meant mean that you have done the thing before - but in a past life - i get dejavu a lot but i'm not entirely sure i believe this theory.

I was forced into doing past life regression as part of my therapy when I was 13....the first time they said it hadn't worked, but the second time, they recorded what happened on tape and video.

I now have frequent flashbacks of many of the 13 lives they uncovered aswell as some others that I have myself uncovered as a result of these flashbacks.

Although some are very nice and exhilerating, others are gory and very very frightening.

My frist life that was uncovered I was an egyptian warrior who was killed in battle by having a spear thrust into the stomach aswell as taking at least 5 or 6 poisoned arrows in the chest. The death was agonising from what i remember.

I would love to detail all of the things I found out, but I was under regressive hypnosis for a total of 4 hours in trhat session. They continued my therapy with another 5 sessions of regressive hypnosis all of which lasting at least 3 hours.

I would love to do this. I have some unreasonable fears that I'd like to get to the bottom of, like I can't stand having anything on my legs when i'm lying down. It makes me wonder if maybe I died with my legs pinned under something in a past life.

I actually have a friend that has dun a few and wants to try with me,but it can be dangerous I am told,My thoughts are to clouded all the time for me to attempt it at this point,but I wanna know who I was,and if my friends now where part of me then...would be great.

Your definition is right, some even like myself can experience this without being asleep or hypnotized.It does take a trance like or meditative state but I don't have to be asleep to travel back.
I always thought I was an old soul, but when I went thru my awakening process, the dreams became more clear.And I was able with the help of my awakener to learn how to go back in time and eventually remember what I had seen and who.
Who being the working word there,as I had seen my husband of a 1000 lifetimes in several of these dream -like states.And many friends I have now, were also with me many times before.
It did take me several years to really be somewhat proficient at it.

I have had this done and it was really neat to remember things from other lives but at the same time kinda scary to find out how you died in them as well.

I was always skeptical of this until I read a case study where they did a past life regression on a woman and she gave the doctor names places and dates that could not be known even to a historian. Well the doctor wanting to do a bit more investigating on this himself went to the place this woman said she and her family had hid and eventually died and found that there were workers doing renovations on the church where she said her and her families bodies would be found. The doctor had the workers go to the spot and tear down the wall there and sure enough the bodies of a woman and her children were found in the spot she said they would be. This was put in a book of documented cases of past life regressions that have proof that what was being recalled was real.

correct definition. When you go into this trance like state. they take you back in time and you see your self in diffrent time periods you may get frightened but it is really clarifying. you can also see paterns in your life that relate to your past lives as well.

I've never gone through past life regression but I can pull memories of my past lives while awake if I concentrate and think back long enough.

Past life regression, I think is bull when you really think about , the only thing people ever said they were are kings and queens and famous people never like a bum or vagrant..

Thanks CHORDEWA but I'm no expert but I am trained in hypnosis. I like what I see in this thread. Interesting ideas about the topic. The subject being regressed can have some terrifying experiences or they can have a memory or two surface. A trained practitioner should be able to handle either. If not, then they should refer the client to someone that can.

Session should only be a couple of hours long. Say, one hour for counseling and intake, the other for the regression itself. As stated before, it may take more than one session for the mind to relax. I was pleased to see that members or not using the term. "going under." For you never really do. You always have control.

I also like it when someone mention about old souls and a thousand lifetimes. If you are on this site, most likely this would apply. lol . The best way to deal with regression is to have it as part of your healing therapy and not as a cool thing to do. That is where you will hear about the famous or wacky lifetimes that some here have mentioned. Regression is a great tool. Use it as such.

The definition is exactly that... I went to see a psychic some time ago and she started the hypnosis, for that she had special music and only her voice... I didn't have a "person" waiting for me to start the journey, as she mentioned me before starting... it was very difficult for me to start... because there was a lot of darkness surrounding me ... there were moments in which I couldn't define where I was or what I was... but in the others, I could recognize myself in Greece, also in China, but being a man... I saw my present family as different members of my family in past lives... the psychic told me that the family is something we travel with from life to life...
that was my exprerience... I would like to have a new one...

Your definition of Past Life Regression is correct, that is how the act is purpetrated. My problem with the whole deal, is that when someone is regressed, the individual almost always remembers being an Egyptian queen or some other historically famous person who's biography is not hard to locate. So many of the regressed individuals are actually remembering something they might have read earlier, then later forgot.
Also, if you were regressed to the former Queen of France or Italian gentry, why would you be able to speak perfect English?

I would very much like to go through past life regression, but in that state you would be very vulnerable, your mind may try to answer the questions by sifting through things you have learnt, something from school a story you heard. So quite possibly it may not be real, it may just be your mind trying to fill in blanks

i've been part of a poorly done past life regression... the person didn't have the power to keep it at a normal speed, so most of it was a fast forward deal... my emotions went sparatic and they almost had to tie me down because i was lashing out at the "father from my past life".
idk... i don't trust doing it again after that... just because of how crazy things got... i remember everything, because i saw it third person when my past life took control of my body and made me a quiet observer until i got back to realizing what was going on. twas a bad night... but i got the answers i wanted... just not as involved as i wanted.

I cant do it... and yes definition correct... I cant meditate myself to past life regression and yet to find anyone who can hypnotise me
