I'm looking for personal opinions. My cousin and I can't agree. Can you be a vampire if you don't enjoy the taste of blood? Meaning you still crave it but just plain do not like the taste. Also then, does other blood taste better? And, what blood do you get the most out of?

Well I duno about the taste of blood. I'm not a vampire and never claim to be...but as I see and am sure you will get people talking about psy vampires...those who feed off of energy..so yes. Just based on what I've learned while here it is.

I dont see what the taste of something has to do with its necessity. We can agree that we as 'people' need the vitamins in brussel sprouts. How many of us enjoy the vegtable?

Blood isn't a nesisary fo vampires any more. It is less messy to just feed on enery.

I also have chronic mono among other things so I will never let anyone taste me. But I do wonder what that would feel like?...

I believe vamprys can feed of energy of others. Blood is not nedded.

How does a bite feel since I will never experience it? To be drank from? I hope someone answers this I have alot of questions and I love getting multiple answers. I don't wanna have to post another thread for fear of looking like a nuisance.

Of course there are vampires who don't like blood.
They feed psy but u can never fully satisfy ur needs with psy energy.

From what I understand if you have a craving for blood, its a need - if you need it you will take it no matter how much you don't like the taste.

I would wonder if you would get used to the taste ?

Certainly if the blood was tainted in some way, it might not be wise to risk drinking it.

On the energy feeding subject. I don't think that is something that can be taught. There are a lot of psi vampires on here, who will probably be able to set you on some sort of path though

I have never encountered a vampire that partakes in blood drinking that does not enjoy blood. But, that is not saying that it isn't possible. I myself enjoy the taste and the act very much. As far as the question about different blood tasting differently. I could not answer that, since I have had the same donor for years. I do not go around tasting different people.

Of course you like the taste of blood if you are a blood drinker. A+ works best

Well put Mieta1. I agree that you don't have to drink blood in order to be a Vampire. I do not drink blood either, nor have I ever felt the need other than licking my own wound.

The only blood taste i like is the blood of mine cuz i rarely get to taste it =)... im not a vampire buy im an O- and i like the taste of my own blood

well....to tell u the truth it does taste good. but i'm not a vamp. so yeah. I don't know much about all the energy crap and stuff but like...yeah lol

I have to agree with vampgirl61685 on the point that it is not a necessity to feed on blood anymore as it is a lot easier to use others energy to stay strong....=)

Well this isn't within my realm of experience, but to suffice to say there are many things you don't necessarily like the taste of however you can still crave it. I am a non blood drinker, but find the taste of blood sweet.

As others have said Psi vampires don’t need blood, so sure you can be a vampire without tasting or even liking blood although the stereo type is that of a blood drinker.

and I don't know what blood you get the most out of. I don’t think anyone has done any studies to see if different blood types produce any different affect on vampires. Maybe they are just like ice-cream flavors and all just simple sweet but otherwise no other affects.

There are some tribes men in India and a few other countries that still consume blood from animals and allow it to coagulate and use it as a past in their foods and to make bread with. But they don’t view themselves as vampires and it’s simply a source of substance. But they use animal blood so maybe that would work better than human.

Not all vampires drink blood. The majority of vamps that I know are psy vamps, meaning the feed off of energy rather than blood.

I have even heard of vampires who recieve a certain energy thorugh eating certain vegetables. I don't now how accurate that fact is however.

I enjoy blood, but I agree that it is not essencial for many vampires. As has been posted, energy may satiffy your cravings.

It is all a matter ov perception. just because you don't like something doesn't mean you don't need it. it's all in your head.

according to the vampires i know, lets call him damine (don't know what that spells but lets call him thatt lol) he didn't like the taste of blood so he became a psychic vampire, and personally i think that type o taste different for somereason it taste stronger, i'm not a vampire but i do drink blood, and i tend to ask my doners a few questions like what blood type they are and if they've been tested resently, what were the results, don't lie to me i can read minds that type of stuff so ya... i do think that blood taste different, and i would ask those questions if u drink blood so u don't get anything (and ur humand)

yes of course a person can be a vampire without liking or enjoying the taste of blood its a necessity that doesnt necessarily mean that you have to like it although they NEED it to survive

It's like water then I take it. I need water to survive and even crave it and feel sick when I haven't had enough of it, but I don't like how it tastes in most cities here. Some of the mountain water is amazing.

blood does taste a bit like an old penny. im not sure if this varies on the the persons health or not.

Vegetarian blood is sweeter then meateaters and vegans blood is even better. I guess it's true you are what you eat

i think a tru vampire needs, want, and craves blood. how can you be a vampire if you are repulsed by the taste of it? i also think that feedong on enery is another acceptable, safe choice but it cannot be a sole alternative for blood.

No. I do not believe you can crave something you can't stand. And as stated above- vampires are not just blood drinkers- MANY do not drink blood at all, while some drink just simply because it is a fettish.

I think you can be some "sort" of Vampire, with out the craving for blood. As far as taste, I would believe that blood would taste different according to what a person consumes.

As always, it depends on the definition you use for "vampire." There's very little agreement and most people personalize the definition.

you may not actually be craving blood but energy some psy vamps have cravings and if you don't know what kind you are then it could be mistaken as a craving for blood

vampire is not only the one who drinks/sucks blood, there are many types of physical or psi-vampires, so literally the answer is yes

well to start, others have said that there are different types of vampires, that is one thing. but to answer your question, it is very possible to not like the taste of blood and be a vampire. but it is also true that just like food we need to survive they all have different tastes. some vampires have found that they may have the craving for blood they can be fine with just taking prana(energy). it just depends on your choices in the end.

with me I feed off of certain people's blood because I love the taste but on others I love to feed off of their energy. So depends on Your mood at the time of feeding really as to your preferance of feeding choices and the oppertunity of the right person being there as well.

Every humans blood composition is different. We all have other levels of sugar and salt. So there will be a difference in taste.

Blood tastes different from different people. I think a lot depends upon the person's diet and especially what they've most recently eaten, or whether they have alcohol in their bloodstream. I'm sure one could find blood from someone that tasted appealing. It's just a matter of finding it.

I don't believe blood has such a signifcant part in defining a Vampire, especially since there's talk about Psy vampires. For them it is a natural need to feed blood, but I don't think it's got much to do with the taste. It's like us normal people needing water... Not everyone likes the taste of it, but they can't deny their need for it and not liking it doesn't make us less human.

You might not even need blood to be a vampire.

thing is, usually your tastes reflect your needs - it's your bodies way of making you take what it needs. for instance, i love anything salty - and it so happens my condition makes me prone to salt deficiency. a lot of the things i really like provide me with minerals and vitamins i need. if someone does not like the taste of blood, then i'm not so sure they need it.

I think it differs from person to person, i like the taste of it but some people prefer to just feed off of energy... guess that didnt really help much did it?

Some times one just has to get used to the taste of blood. It's kinda like eating a food you don't care for but over time you start to like it.

I like my own blood.. I havent tried anybody elses.. nobody will let me feed on them. But if am still trying.. My own tastes good and people things its discusting...

It seems to me, that a lot of people here have com to the conclusion, the asian myth of energy stealing vampires (here generally used as psy vamps) is a good enough excuse or substitution to replace the older european and african myths involving the blood itself.

What if your a diabetic wouldn`t the blood be sweeter than most Or if your anemic wouldn`t the blood have a flavor of metallic. I`m not a vamp but this is interesting and curiosity kills the cat so to speak..

As I have said before... I believe you can need something to survive and not particularly desire the taste of it. Just as you need water to survive, it is tasteless(mostly) and yet we drink it to survive. Sometimes I even crave it, I need it. Yet I don't like it. I'd much rather have juice.

Injured soldiers and crash victims could have their lives saved with plastic blood, scientists have claimed.

The artificial blood is sterile, easily stored and could be given to any patient via transfusion regardless of their blood type.

The synthetic blood is not a long-term substitute for the real thing but can keep patients alive until a transfusion can be carried out. It is most likely to be used where real blood is not available.

The blood, which has the composition of runny honey, was created by experts at Sheffield University. Dr Lance Twyman, who has spent the last five years developing it, said: 'We are very excited about the potential for this product and the fact it could save lives.'

Real blood must be refrigerated and has a shelf life of a little over a month. Care has to be taken to ensure any used for transfusion is the same type as a patient's blood group.

The artificial version is free of such problems. It can be stored at room temperature for months.

The blood - which has yet to be tested on humans - is made up of millions of plastic molecules. Similar in size and shape to haemoglobin, the compound responsible for ferrying oxygen round the body, they pick up oxygen from the lungs and release it into the tissues.

The plastic blood is unlikely to be available for a decade but a sample will be displayed at London's Science Museum from May 22.

Newcastle University experts are also working on a substitute blood based on the clear blood found in lugworms. It carries 40 times more oxygen than normal blood.

I feel you have enough answers on the craving vs palatability of blood, so will concentrate on the energy factor.....
Have you ever had a discussion with someone for just five minutes thinking that you would make good stead and ended up feeling absolutely shattered, as if running an uphill marathon with a casualty on your shoulders, at full pelt????
They have just drained you of all energy!

Retrospectively, have you ever recieved a phone call, message, or met up with someone, and having finished, felt like you have had an entire night of restful sleep, and could then ACTUALLY RUN that aforementioned marathon at full pelt wth a casualty etc????
Well, you have just shared that person's energy.
Suffice it is to say, that You can gain energy by a) Stealing it from another,
b) Keeping it locked inside whilst another is trying to steal it from you (i.e, don't rise to their antagone), or
c) share it with someone. For as you share your energy with another's, the energy grows, and multiplies, so when your energies are redistributed back to their respective containers upon departure, there is more than what was initially offered out.

I think you can, but it's personal taste. Like my own blood tastes horrible, and makes me gag, but other (especially male!!!) blood is quite nice. Like I said, it's personal taste.

i'm the opposite - i dont crave blood (though i do sometimes crave meat), but i love the taste. do all sex vamps love the taste of semen? be interesting to find out. a psy vamp doesnt actually crave blood - only energy, so i dont think that applies. the question was about having a craving for something you hate the taste of. now most children need fruit and vegetables, but hate the taste - but they dont actually crave them. the thing about craving water but hating the taste is an interesting point - but feeling thirsty is not really the same as craving water. most tap water has so many chemicals in it, it tastes vile - but it isnt that you are craving. ever drank pure water? different thing altogether. there is a difference between craving something, and being enamoured by the idea of it. also, there is a diference between craving something, and craving an element thatis contained in it.

I can't imagine a vampire that doesn't enjoy it but who knows. I guess the taste shouldn't really have much to do with it.

I've read from many stories that the taste of blood and the smell are completely different from other blood and other smells. I'm not sure though.
