I am curious, how many people here practice Reiki? I am interested in learning how to utilize it myself, but would like to hear of some personal experiences. For those of you who do use it, does it work for you all/most/some of the time?
Honestly, I think Reiki is just like anything else. The basis of it is healing with the mind, which can be done all on your own. Everything and anything can be handled just by believing in your own personal strengths and powers, in my personal opinion. Theres no need waste money on something so that you can believe in it for an hour or two.
I know only a little about Reiki, but the practice of "laying on of hands" to allow the energies to flow from one to another for healing, can that also be done by just the mind, or is the laying of hands the key?
My wife practices Reiki, I find it beneficial when I feel poorly, tense etc...Go for it
I can only tell you of my experience with a 4th degree Reiki healer. He laided hands upon me, I seen blackness, then my head just jerked. The blackness was gone. I had built so much negativity, it had escaped itself. It is the energy of a higher power, you are only the conductor.
Healing is all in the mind,
I was healed by a Reiki healer once but did not really benifit from it,
It all depends on the person and what is wrong with them or ales them
Iv'e never experienced Reiki, but have felt the benefit from Spiritual healing myself.
Is there a Good Website on this Practice would love to know more about it...
never heard of it....I would love to know more about it though....
I would love to know more about it, i have heard discussions of it, but do not know anything about it
I am only a level one, however I find that people are generally helped, I'm not saying making the blind see or the lame walk. just general healing faster and starting to feel better.
I personally do not practise it, but everybody that i hear talk about it only sais good things about it, i think it would be something good to learn...
I have heard nothing but good about Reiki..however it seems to me to be all a matter of belief. If you believe something will work-then it will.
I dont really know anything about Reiki, other than what i just read.
I believe you can do the exact same thing you achieve through Reiki with other magics, etc.
I'm not exactly sure if this is considered Reiki, but I have a simple chant that I use to help migrane pain go down a notch.
"Let the pain and hurt be gone,
Let it be gone,
Let it be gone."
While putting my hands on my temples.
It works. It's probably a placebo effect, but if it is, the pain still goes away.
Never done it on anyone else though.
Reiki huh? I've never heard of this term before, but the description sounds exactly like the type of Physical Therapy I underwent about a month or so ago.
The physical therapy I underwent is called Integrative Manual Therapy.
At the beginning of August I had gotten what I thought was a pinched nerve in my neck, I couldn't turn my head at all without getting a sharp pain shooting from my neck down to my mid-back. The doctor described it as a "muscle spasm" in my left shoulder that didn't extract or contract, it just tightened and locked up and couldn't be massaged out.
When I went in for physical therapy, the therapist just had me lay there while she lay her hands on different muscles of the body. She will then push very slightly with her fingertips on a certain area of the muscle and this released the energy built up in the muscle. You can tell when the energy gets released because the area her hand is on starts to get extremely warm.
There are different techniques they use to release the energy in the nerves as well as the muscles.
The therapist was so good at her job that she can lay her hand on a certain part of my body and tell me if I've ever injured that part of the body before, even if it was when I was a child!
She was telling me about injuries I had from high school 13 years ago! I was in awe over the fact that she could do this.
After the very first session I had so much more mobility in my neck, I didn't know what to think, all I did was lay there.
My friend is a practitioner of it and I let him try it out on me. I wasn't too sure about it in the beginning, but now I can say that I did feel a big difference both during and following it. It seemed to work for me.
My wife has the natural ability but is reluctant to pursue it. She once got a book on it and tried doing what you do on my head. I got a rush far stronger than anything I had felt from a trained master
That said I find it an amzing experience
I use it when I practice massage but I use it as a relaxing ending to my procedure. As it usually lets warm waves go through the body.
I am starting to learn the ways of Reiki... but I haven't really been doing it that long... I'm looking for someone who knows a lot about the subject. If anyone knows anything helpful, please feel free to message me. Thanks :)
i do not know anything about reiki but i have heard it is a good form of relaxation...

VR is full of Reiki practioners. I am a certified Reiki Master twice over. My first go 'round I didn't feel I learned enough- so I went with someone else and we took several months and didn't rush it. She provided me with a wealth of knowledge.
Today I use it on myself and my son only. I've just never been in a situation to practice on someone else. It has worked me for me/us, but I have been personalizing it... and even thinking of creating my own spin on it- as it seems to be just as effective the way I have morphed it.
Like any energy work, Reiki will work as long as you believe in what you're doing. If you make alterations in the way you process it, and they work better with your own visualizations, stick with it.... It's all about how well it works for you.
I have had Reiki done on me. I found it beneficial. And it has become another avenue of interest for me also.
If you feel drawn to it, then it is something that you should pursue.
I had a Reiki session today....one in many over the last year. She worked deeper than normal. When she does that, sometimes the pain actually intensifies for me for the day but then the next day I am almost twice as better. She explained that it pushes the healing process and as one who has studied psychology, I know that healing can actually be painful before it gets better. Even in the psyche... :)
I know Ahriman is learnign reiki and so is his wife Anahita, he talk to me about it and it seems really good an helpfull, a healing and also some sort of help for the mind to control yourself an dbe master of yourself at all time.
Well, it definitely sounds like this is something I should pursue...now I just need to find a reiki master who is willing to help me without charging me a small fortune. lol
Sonneillon, what you most likely had done was "trigger point therapy." Amazing and very effective but not Reiki. After having about four of these threads already, I'm passing on most of this.
Having done a few hundred sessions and a thousand or two long distance sessions I will sit back on this thread for awhile. I will say however that you do not need to be a master level Reiki practitioner to offer Reiki to someone. Level one will give the very some results! And please don't learn from a book. Get a teacher.
Yes Billy, I agree that it was not Reiki, but it sounded very similar. And yes, it was very effective, I was truly surprised as I had never heard of what I had done before either.
I have heard of Reiki and from wot i hear it works for the people that use it. Never tried it myself but have a friend that goes to someone to get it done and she says it helps her out.
i dont use reiki or anything...but my mum has used it afew times and my aunt-in-law uses it on herself and on other people...she's got a place where she does it...most people send her cards thanking her for helping them....she says about 87% of the time it works...she says it depends on the person state of being and whats wrong with them!
ive never heard of this could some one explian it a bit?
I have found it to be quite beneficial. I know it works for me.
I know you don't have to be a reiki master to help or perform reiki...but from what I understand you need a master to attune you and help you learn how to do it correctly. I'm having trouble finding someone who lives near me that doesn't charge a high amount for the lessons. I don't really have a lot of money...so it's just kinda hard right now. :(
Yes Reiki does work... in my experiances with it. My Ex's mother does it among otherthings such as reflexology and ion clensing.
I am a Reiki Master/Teacher.
I would be willing to help those who just need a little help via email or IM.
I do not like to charge unless I'm giving a III degree. And there is no higher than IIIrd. It's all Money to some.....
What is Reiki
some asked for a website:
http://www.reiki.org/
http://www.reiki-4-all.com/index.php
( hope my html is proper)
i believe for some reiki is more than just a practice, that it can be a way of life in becoming in touch with their spiritual self and self aware of things they ordinarlily wouldnt be i do have a few friends off the internet that practice it
I agree with that phrase referring both on the religious belief or the belief in supernatural:
"Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not."
So NO placebo effect here :P
in my experience, after finishing the reiki levels, i can tell you that you can do a lot for others healing them and for yourself. I do reiki to myself and helps me to let my energy flow, helps me to cure myself... and helps me to get connected with my inner being...
honestly the best way to learn reiki and or learn what the pro and cons of it is would be to find a reiki master in your area.
No amount of knowledge you read would help other then from a reiki master themselves.
whether there are those here who have studied it and used it unless they have mastered this art no offense but their knowledge will fall in comparison to someone who is a master of it
I've never heard of it until now, I shall go do some research on it
Well, I've found someone who is willing to teach me, so I'm now studying reiki. I'm hoping that it will go well. Wish me luck. :)
If you need someone to help out in understanding .. buzz me.

First you get initiated in to the first degree of Reiki, wich means, opening the chanels trough wich your energy streams, and after that you complete all the other degrees of Reiki Personal Healing, and after all that, you have the right to call your self, A Reiki Master, and you can heal ppl!
I dont know how much degrees you need to complete, it varies, from market to market, from asholle to asholle(you know it is all bout money today, so who knows Reiki indeed?? Who is going to Sell it to you in a honest way?
I personaly never aprecieted Reiki Personal Self Defense Healing, beacuse it is not even capable of manifesting Chi Attacks.
It is a half-philosophy, given by smarter gods than your self, so they can shape your reality.
In order to heal our selfes, we need something more substantial than Reiki Personal Fittness for Nuns.
If one is energy sensitive in the first place .. it's ability is easy to see.
Of course, there are those who will doubt anything.
And there are those who get into things sheerly for the dollars.
Both are often wrong.
Chuckles.
I do believe in Reiki however i dont believe that you can just cure a person by just believing in yourself(As the person who wrote the 2 nd post said)...You have to learn it from a teacher....
