I'm a new vampyre, having recently been turned just a few months ago. I have a question....are there any laws and/or rules that I should be aware of?
I would suggest that ditching the term 'turned' would help you out.
How would I describe becoming a vampyre then? If you read my profile, you would see I read alot of contemporary literature and that was the only way I could conceivably explain it.
Perhaps prudence in advertising yourself would be more appropriate, for your own personal development and to allow you to get a feel for how others may react.
And how would you advise me in that course of action m'lord? I admit I'm a bit in the dark in the way of Vampyre politics.
lol For a start most don't believe you're "turned" :))
a newly awakened vampire should familiarize himself within the sub culture/community of likeminded individuals and instead of just reading about it let ones desires take controll and experience it for himself hands on is the best way, rules haha just common sence i say and safety as well.
The term, "awakened," is probably going to be better accepted than "turned."
There are no "laws" or politics that cover the greater community, though some submit themselves to guidelines. You can easily learn about these through online searches, by reading our database here, and participating in the forum.
Even better, if you can discern an intelligent and helpful person from the rest, you can learn from another and begin to build your own ideas and means of governing your behavior.
You say that I should follow my desires and lose control and experience the feeling for myself....how would be the best way to do that?
before information can be divulged, may i ask what kind of vampire have you become?
i like the "use common sence and be safe about your new choice of life style. its just like anouncing to your catholic family you turned pagan. be tactful
I'm not entirely sure. I just had my first drink of blood tonight and my friends tell me they are always tired around me while I seem to have boundless amounts of energy. The blood tasted wonderful and since that drink, my insatiable thirst that I have had since I was a child is gone.
i will provide u a web site so that your eyes may be opened...
www.sanguinarius.org
our place in the shadows...
Thank you Doru, I am reading the site as I write this.
sounds alot to me like you are a psi vampyre.but I could be wrong.
I was thinking the same thing, but how does that explain the insatiable thirst for blood. I went to the site that Doru gave me and I might be a hybrid...I'm not sure.
read and absorb... one cannot grow from a seed in a day... be discrete in all that you do... the lifestlye is private and sacred...
until again...
With these words, I heed the advice of Doru. I bid you all good night and happy hunting.
Not to be rude, but here I go again...
For one, I would lay off of speaking ye olde english, this is deemed roleplay language and is looked greatly down upon.
Two, claiming to be "awakened" is a far catch from actual "awakening", most teens would believe themselves to be awakened after they taste the copper flavour of blood. Whether "sang" or "psi" makes little to no differance.
As there are no real kinds of "vampire" out there, save for the egnimatic Vampires: The Masquerade clans. All roleplay.
If you take the lifestyle you choose to a serious note, then I mean no disrespect, just be wary of the way you carry yourself. Most of the posts in this thread clear this up for you, so I will not reiterate.
Tread carefully which websites you go to for information, some are false and will take you for granted. Some are based on opinion as to the level of knowledge you wish to partain, such as the black veil, and the strigoii.
Just advice, like most, take it with a grain of salt. You asked, I answered.
Yes, there is, you should be aware of the Rules Of The Maquerade!
Learn those! Follow those!
Or the Prince will execute your petty life!
Alixaryon, amusing as always...Beware ye olde kindred of olde, always follow the guidelines of the 10 majestic variations of the 7 gates into the darkness *reads script* bow down to the sinister forces of the 12 members of the coucil of 5 houses *lost place...Reads script once more* of the many rules, regulations and guidelines of the "vampires codex"...Muahahahha
So forth and so on...Whatever.
P.S. Can the word "vampire" be pluralised?
Ah, come on Carvall, I was trying to strike some humor into this thread, well, I guess every vampire has had their day in the sun, lol.
Be sure to wear extra sunblock btw if you think you have had an "awakening" never know if you will be a bit more sensitive to the almighty U-V.
*bangs head againt nearest wall* for a start drop the 'being turned' bit lol after that..... do like most of the rest of us have and read a little.
I don't make fun of anyone's beliefs, if this is what makes you feel fulfilled, then more power to you. As others have already advised, be wary, sane and sensible in your chosen path!
I would have to agree with those who say to use discretion and read all you can find. This is not something mainstream America (or anywhere else) is going to understand.
Demicles2005,
May I be one of the few to be able to teach you. Stabb and I go way back and we both understand aspects of the condition. The term turned, is something from a book or a movie or game. The real aspect of being or becoming a Vampyre, is that you awaken into it.
Real life Vampyrism isn't about being something undead, in all reality its something you are either born into, or force yourself into. Vampyrism in the most real term is where you subtle existence of your soul or subtle body, is damaged or is without an important part that creates an essence flow within you. Since this is the issue, your soul must gain this energy or Prana from another source, in this, it turns to the real physical body and slowly absorbs its energy to make up for the lack that it holds within itself.
Now, in this, you will feel, physically drained, become irritated, weak, unhealthy, as this happens, you will feel a type of hunger in you, its not one that you can say is for actual physical substence, but something more spiritual, deep. With this, like in movies and games and such, there is a type of lower form within your mind that will drive you to feed.
This lower form in the Strigoi Vii teachings is known as the Dragon, yet in all reality its known as the lizard brain, something we all have, its the primal part that dictates the fight or flight aspects of us, our will to survive and become primal again in order to survive.
It will urge you to seek out this essence it lacks, in this, you can draw it from three different means. Each person who is awakened, has a stronger connection to one of the three types of means of feeding.
You can draw emotions, Psy or Sanguine. Emotions is of course an aspect in which you will try to draw out the most raw potential of an emotion, the most know ones are Lust and Hate. While the other emotions, happiness, saddness and fear come in, but they can't be brought out in full potential like Lust and Hate.
Next is psy, which is drawing upon the essence of others without having to rely on emotions or intense emotions to do so. Yet in this, its hard to do, some struggle with it because it takes time and practice in order to even come close to drawing enough energy in a single sitting to at least satisfy this urge in you.
Last is Sanguine, which is dangerous do to the sickness it can carry. Which is why healthy donors are needed. Also, mass amounts of sanguine can make you sick, and trying to take sanguine from animals can kill you if not make you really sick.
If you would like check out my profile, I have a lot of stuff in the personal journal section that you might find of interest, including the old Black Veil by the Sanguinarium. If you have question feel free to ask and I will do what I can to answer them.
- Sin (VII)
Choose what you wish to follow if you deem the "vampire" lifestyle your own, from the black veil, to any other bylaws, rules and regulations to general standards. This is if you choose to be an elitist. Social groups are the norm at times.
But as most I know including myself, are independant and mature enough not to follow such blabble, we instead follow a seperate path...Govern yourself accordingly and respect will follow.
i personally do not think that their are rules to being a vampire, i think that all you really have to have is common sence and you will be alright, just remember that usually anything you do will come back to you
I agree with xxmadvampgoddessxx i also do not think that their are rules to being a vampire, their are the rules of the black veil but they are just an outline of what you should do, but i think that their are already to many rules to follow, so a person should just do what they think is right for them and everything should work out for the best...
Thanks to everyone who posted. I've been reading sections of the Sanguinarium and I am beginning to understand exactly what I need to do. Discretion is the better part of valor, they say. Thanks again.
you were awakend not turned...ARRGH. alot of noobie vampires get this so wrong.
now,a s for the laws. yes, infact there are some. but you learn them as you go.
life for example...
do not kill unless it's for food or selfdesense, you never know when u may be being watched by a lycan thats in a bad mood, and thinks you diseve what u do.
bloodtaintedstars,
It is responses such as yours which push people further down the route of misunderstanding, and I reject the advice you provide as something more appropriate for fantasy roleplay.
I don't believe there is "Vampyre Law" that covers the greater community of all vampyres. I believe you would need to associate yourself with your surrounding group and get to know but rules they abide by. Rules and laws may be different depending on your location.
The Black Veil isn't a set of laws, like many have already said, but its a measure on making sure that you have some serious common sense in the very nature of what you have awoken to.
Also Stabb is very correct upon his last statement. What was presented was a role playing aspect or fiction which many, MANY individuals fall victim to. I've ran into individuals in the past who took the book of Nod, a white wolf suppliment for the game Vampire the Masquerade as a real unholy bible of vampirism. Which if your playing the game, its fine to think that, yet to believe that is real just shows the misguidedness of the person and in a sense the very essence on how bad someone wants to become something special that they are willing to ignore the very blairing fact of a books authenticity.
Lycans, in a sense are real, but their known as Other Kin I believe. They don't actually shift, but its more like their very soul is an animal stuck in the physical body of a human.
This condition isn't something supernatural all in all. Its just another form of existence that brings another diversity to the world, a further step that is more then being black, white, hispanic, asian, etc.
Also, there are no clans, when you awaken there is a caste set up, but this is more of a classificitation, more then anything I would suggest just to develope yourself as you see fit, don't fall into any of the caste aspects presented by the Sanguinarium.
There are Houses, much like what is presented here on the rave, each house has a set of ideals in which those in the house learn and begin to develop from. Also these houses have Esoteric teachings, think of houses as mystery religions like the Golden Dawn, Dragon Rogue and such.
If you don't belong to a house your known as a Ronin or a Nomad, which isn't bad, just means you have no affiliation. Yet it does alientate you from those in houses if they decided to be "Elitest" which means they will only acknowledge or respect thoses of a house or their house only.
- Sin (VII)
Sin, you told me about houses. In my mind, I think you are talking about actual physical houses. If that's the case, is anyone familiar with the Norfolk area so that I can start looking around and asking questions?
Their are physical Vampyre Communities or Houses, like I said, as for trying to find them, good luck.
first off you say you've been turned, Then those that have turned you must know what they are doing. Why dont you ask them for answers that you are seeking for unless it was some foolish trick played on you.Honestly, i do not think one can be turned...by drinking blood on night and thinking that one has become a vampire.
The thing is, I haven't just developed vampyric tendencies overnight. I've always been photosensitive, so I'm very pale. I've had the insatiable thirst that has only now been quenched now that I feed, and I cannot sleep during the night, because I a more active then than I am during the day. I've been this way since I was a small boy. this was no "one night" occurence.
oh, becuase letting anyone no one know to read your profile to get some information about how you became a vampire....it sounded as though it was an overnight situation.
if you had cravings maybe do a little investigation in your family history maybe your relatives have some clue. There are a community rules but as an individual vampire i guess you make up your own.
Look for a community that is right for you, If they are true then they will guide you. And, as you have been told earlier, be awakened is probably the appropriate term to use. And considering that you are a Fledgling I think this would be a good start. In my opnion anyways…
There is no vampire law other then not to act like and idiot. A vampire is the earliest form of true human predator-ism and therefor we have no laws other then to survive above all else.
like so many of our other brethren have said. you can not be turned. it is something u are born with that u grow in to. most of the time ones awakening happens at a moment in ur life of great chaos or some great happening. the awakening happens during this time for reasons unknown to many.
i do not think that there are any vampire laws. most follow there own sense of honor, trust, loyaity and such . Those traits are most of the time either learn depending on the vampire.
Stab is very correct in what he has said earlier. be careful in what u do and who u speak too.
all in all just take it one day at a time.
I have to agree with the majority of posts here. There are no laws, just use your own judgment on right and wrong. and also be cautious.
Personally, I feel you are still your own person. You are still defined only by what you choose to define yourself by. No one else can change that.
I have yet to meet a real vampire. I would like to and if I do I might ask them about rules. As far as living a vampire or gothic lifestyle I would suggest taking it slow at first. Make yourself available to others that think like you do. I imagine you will learn soon enough what not to do.
ok the correct term of become a vampire i to be blooded and though im a hybrid i now most oft the vampire laws plus the werewolf laws so if u have any ?s send me a message and ill let u now
The "Black Veil" is not law, but 13 Rules to help protect the greater vampire community. Independants as we see here in the above posts do not care if they anger society towards the vampire community. They do not respect themselves or the vampire community enough to keep it from small-minded individuals who want to put an end to our right to live as we desire.
BLACK VEIL:
1. Discretion
2. Diversity
3. Safety
4. Control
5. Lifestyle
6. Family
7. Havens
8. Territory
9. Responsibility
10. Elders
11. Donors
12. Leadership
13. Ideals
"Our lives should be lived as a message to the world about the beauty of accepting the whole self, of living without guilt and without shame, and celebrating the unique and beautiful essence of every single soul."
Vampire *punch* is *slam* not *beat* spelled *maim* with *slap* a *backhand* -----Y!----- *brutalize*
Other than that, if you want politics, read up on some WoD stuff. You will get a better primer from that than annnyyything else, I assure you.
First off, as everyone else has already stated...dump the word "turned" the RPG lingo isnt necessary...
and secondly,
I agree with SoulShroude...My first answer to tell you was look up The Black Veil..best code of ethics in the vampiric lifestyle I can think of.
I am very insulted about your post Doru, you should speak for yourself when you talk about self respect. THE only reason why not to follow such guidelines, is this...Those guidelines, or laws as you claim they are, are there for the lifestylers and children to claim for themselves a way of acknowledging a society they deem fit to live in. The mature need not apply, as we all know how to govern ourselves accordingly.
Follow what ever laws you wish, if you are into that sort of thing, but do not insult those you do not know. You only humiliate yourself doing so. Have a bit of common sense when communicating such information.
Remember, there is a huge differance between a lifestyle, and the mature.
Learn to live with, or stay at home.
On a side note, fear is not in most of us out there, we do not fear what we do not know. As for the society, fear is the furtherthest emotion from my mind. I do not follow the black veil, as my opinion will always remain the same...B.S. guidelines for people that think they can control others. RP or not, do not insult me.
Okay for one thing since the Vampire societies really dont have a prince or leader anymore because of the age we are in the laws are no longer in play, you do need to use wise judgement like not going up to people you know or dont know and telling them that you are a vampire cause well thats just asking for trouble. Use common sence ask real question to those who are in the higher ranks here they may know the answer that you seek heck if they dont know then chances are they know some one who does. Dont make yourself different in anyway, for example if you are the type that loves to go shopping and buy really bright clothes dont go head first into black and dark wear just because youre now a vampire. The only thing different about you physically is your blood so there is no point in changing who you are and what you believe in and what you stand for just to fit into the vampire community. Finally do research you can find all kinds of things about vampires and their life style and pretty much everything else that you want to know it will just time, effort and patience
my comments are my opinion and if you don't like them... i don't care, that's your problem. If you personally attack my opinon, you can expect a me to do the same to you... "respect" is earned, this isn't holloween, i don't hand it out like candy...
Scybermonk** WoD? Or is that WoW? Just kidding, but really this is kind of funny to watch from an outsiders perspective. I'm neither vampire nor werecreature, so this is semi-amusing. If I didn't know any better this sounds like the Baptists and Catholics going at it...lol.
read the Black Veil or the Vampires Creed it says it all best.
I don't know if there are actually a set of laws but I do think that you need to be careful you may be feeding off more then just blood
sorry, but i'll give my opinion too... if you're still eating normal food, if you where not bite by a real, supernatural vampire, if you're still living at home, then, you are not a vampire... no matter what you, or anyone says, you are not a vampire... you can pretend to be a king or a god, by speaking in different terms, living accordingly to some rules you think is right, but, just for living that way and thinking that way, does not make you a king or a god... supernatural vampires are real, do not confuse things...
and take all advice as help not sarcasim and be respectfull to the help u recieve , respect above all
I feel that ScionofRequiem makes some excellent and very valid points.
A lot of care has to be taken in how one approaches already well established groups, as they can easily take offence at a roleplay style of communication, leading to rejection and at times, outright hostility.
There are still a few yahoo user groups and IRC channels which might lead you to a suitable set of answers, but again, take care to both protect yourself and make clear your position, intentons and reasoning.
every person here at the VR has an opinion and i assume we are all here to express that opinion. my belief's may not be what you believe, but it does not change how i believe and act, nor is it subject to insecure judgement.
If you are seriously looking for guidelines, you should check out what is known as THE BLACK VEIL. You can look it up on google and most likely you will be sent to the TEMPLE OF THE VAMPYRE.
Sanguinarius. org, this will send you to many other sites if you chose...
you may also wish to check the site
www.drinkdeeplyanddream.com
seeing as you seem to have little knowledge of the best ways to handle this gift/curse i myself found it very helpfull after my own awakening at the age of 17
Law one, keep your hands off of my food!
Actually, there are not any real laws that I know of. THere are certain expected behaviors, tho. Class. Honor. Respect. Loyalty. THe usual things. I guess the idea is not to make Us look bad to "others" Roflmfao!.
well the only law there is that is ever followed is look out for your own interests and if u need 2 break a law 2 do it then do it. and deciding to drink blood dont make u a vampire!!!
just be careful and look in sid of your self and you will find what you need in the end we r all famley ther good and bad in every one it is up to you what you do for every good there is bad you have a good one
I am a great believer in common sense and courtesy.
Take good care of your donors, familiarise yourself with safe blood letting methods and be sure to know what to do if things go wrong. Whatever you do, keep away from blood vessels! It works in the movies but in real life people can be in danger of losing their lives that way.
Also be very discreet and careful about who you tell. It is amazing just how quickly that knowledge spreads and you don't want it coming up in the future when you are applying for a job. Labels like that can stick for a lifetime. Most of the vamps I know completely conceal it from friends and family.
Well, it's very easy to get an STD from someone when drinking their blood.
Find someone you trust.
I happen to know for a fact both my donors are clean.
And I agree with Irony, conceal it.
Don't tell anyone who doesn't need to know.
It could wreak havoc on your life if you tell the wrong person.
I am just wondering why anyone would think simply because we are vampires we need ( want) special laws. The only laws you need worry about are the ones on your city, state and federal law books... you need not worry about any "official" in the vampire community hunting you down for not spelling vampire as some thing ti should be or whatever. The only time the black veil or any other set of rules applies is if you wish them to.
I think if you turned someone yes i'm useing the word turned, anyway if you turn them teach them kinda common since i think.
