As mentioned by Pandorasbox65 in the post to stake or not to stake.
The question put forward was if the stake only keeps a vampire in it’s greave as the heart is dead.
Why does it drink blood if it cant transverse through the body.
I think that’s a good question
I understand those like myself need energy, this question is more for the blood drinking vamps or theories.
What’s your thoughts on that?
It is all about life energy. Blood is the primal element of both life and death where generally the presence relates to life and the absence relates to death. In the "life form" or presence of blood, it supplies energy, even if it does not circulate through the system.
My opinion of course ...
I like drinking blood because i like the taste of it..
it has nothing to do( i am speaking of myself on this of course) with vampyres or anything , i just love the taste of blood
Well I think this is in two parts first the blood.
From as far back as we can go it was believed deities lived in our blood thus making them immortal and able to regenerate thus the need for blood.
Blood is very powerful in magic or sacrifices or both. Lol
As an example a virgin gives a shed of blood on penetration or a blood oath like making a deal with the devil.
Metaphorically from those times or old we still say bad blood meaning something amiss or thin blood as they get cold easy or hot blooded a angry person red blooded are healthy… it goes on blood brothers and so forth.
Part two the heart.
Im not sure how the heart comes into play if at all with a vampire.
An animated corps drinks blood for a reason, not to replenish it’s own blood… how can it?
You eat/drink blood then your going to be sick on such large amounts and human blood is strong stuff and unique.
Maybe the heart n staking it is metaphorical, the heart is a symbol of love and to pin it to the grave maybe breaks the spell of searching for love out of the grave as you have a nasty habit of biting people lol
Yeh I don’t know the answer to this lol
Now that leads to another interesting tangle in this discussion, is it possible that a vampyre's heart truly does beat, I beleive it would, and have heard it is just much slower than that of a mortal, there is circulation there, just at a very slow, should be dead pace.
oops I left a good point out, if you cut a vampire they are said to bleed, if you have no circulation, there is no bleeding, no bruising, no anything, there has to be blood pressure for bleeding to accure as it is often seen when staking a vampire.
True… Blackhawk … blood drank by Buddhist monks in 300bc to cure illness was common and it worked.. it was swine blood. But for vampire reasons I know there is no substitute for human blood and animal blood cant replace it a process used by forensics to work out if it’s human blood called precipitin human blood separates from animal where all animals don’t, might unique stuff aren’t we
Yes the amount of blood when staking a vamp … takes me back to a comedy horror where there is an absolute blood bath squirting everywhere lol
Sinora
how’s it going.
Yes it is just folk law and books for sure… but there must be a logic for the book to hold water.
I guess were just playing along those lines… well I know I do.. sort of.
Spent a lot of time trying to summon high gate vampire…. Razed the dead but no vampire ghost…. Did many things and two of the group still sleep with the light on lol
many reasons.. just gotta know them .. all and everyone has there opinion but.. is knowing what it is.. and why.. altho i could state mine but. keeping your mind wondering is a lot more.
Well if they are staked then how would they get up to do any drinking? and why were they staked in the first place..... ???
vampires probably drink blood for the energy and life force they get from it.
also, the act of drinking blood is very symbolic for control and enforcing one's will on a the victim. it can be a very sexual experience.
True is they were staked then no it would be hard to get up a bit like Gulliver travels pinned down on the beach.
Staked wont keep one down and as the body of the crypt fiend is dead … damages would have to be decapitation or fire.
Question is why drink blood as the body is dead n your not digesting blood to replace your animated corps.
Im thinking blood has a history of life and that is why it seeks blood… only as society changes do we see love and even a tormented soul… we identify with that image more I feel.
well, i don't believe in the vampire as an undead corpse but more along the lines of the psychic vampire. i think that the undead theory is unrealistic even in a fantastical sense. the modern vampire is discouraged from actually drinking blood because of disease and such. i heard the the human stomach can only sustain about a quart of blood before the PH level is messed up and you start throwing up.
It's not so much as needing to blood to run through there vains, its the life energy from with in the blood, they use that "animate" themselves.
Very true ….. animal blood is great in black pudding n what nots.
To much human blood n up it comes for sure.
One will be able to take more n more as time goes on but still not that much
the blood is a more concentrated form of energy of course..for those of us that are not as skilled at extracting energy from a distance..obtaining the blood directly from the source is a powerful medium.
the question on the heart...and staking..I can only really relate what I have seen in fiction to what you ask..
a person can train their body to withstand more blood? that's pretty interesting, i hadn't heard of that before. there has to be a point where the body just cant take anymore though, right?
so, if blood is a more concentrated form of energy, would the staking through the heart be more symbolic of killing the person from its very core, killing the very center of their energy center?
very interesting take on it..it does make alot of sense..the heart for a normal person is rather the epicenter of keeping life flowing through the body..so if you stake the core..you destroy what is keeping the energy flowing perhaps?
that's what i think. i've always been taught that the best way to do something is to get to the core of it. in this case it happens to be literal.
I know from personal experience I got a jolt of energy from it. It was like drinking a couple redbulls. lol
The blood itself holds the essence/energy that helps bring life.
It's possible although they're technically dead and don't have blood pumping through their veins, that their bodies still require the need for blood
I believe that the classic vampire does have a functional cardio pulmonary system, that the heart pumps only a few times per minute, and that the lungs expand and contract also only a few times a minute. The blood lust is fueled by a need for the energy it contains and for its spiritual effects. By classic vampire I mean the fictional version. If there was no blood in the system the whole body would decay from the lack of oxygen and glucose dissolved in the blood. A functional pulmonary system is essential to providing oxygen. Of course this is all theory based on years of reading vampire novels and watching movies. The vampire would be cold and pale due to the slow circulation of blood. Current mortuary practice requires the blood of a corpse to be exsanguinated and embalming fluid pumped into the veins. This would make reanimation as a vampire difficult, if not impossible. A person would have to be freshly killed in order for them to be awakened by their maker in order for the vampire to be born.
i've never drank anyone's blood. i've tasted my own on occasion but it never drew me in any particular manner. maybe it's because it was my blood. maybe you need to drink someone else's blood in order for it to give you energy. you can't really take energy from yoruself
drinking your own blood is useless..its in a sense a cycling of energy..and it serves no greater purpose....that is more the reason for drinking it from another..to have access to their energy..to supplement your own..or lack theirof
Technically I think by taking your own blood you'd lose some energy in the process.
it is quite possible considering the act of extracting blood creates a pool of energy all on its own..when we are injured in some way..chemicals are released in our bodies..signals sent by the brain..and it all brings about a greater amount of energy..thats why there is debate on whether or not the energy content is greater when it is being taken directly from a wound..or bled and then consumed later from a storage source....
but if a person can't really drink that much blood then is there any way to concentrate the energy in the blood even more so that the need to feed is not as great?
i don't know if there's a way to make the energy in the blood more concentrated. i guess you could meditate and things like that. i don't know if that would make a difference. i've never tried it.
Being into energy there are rituals to boost the energy your taking… depends on your feeding habits.. but id like to keep this on target of blood.
Maybe a ritual sacrifice would make the blood more potent or some magical markings painted on or cut lol
I have a friend who hangs from hooks n gets me to pull them to reach her level of satisfaction, the blood from her must be very charged for sure… shame im not a sang lol
There are many… first stage you kill you must be blooded.
Help crops grow an offering of blood
After winning a battle for your life you drink some blood of the guy you killed.
Magical blood rituals…
It’s endless
that's pretty interesting. i just don't like the idea that something has to die, which is why i've always been a little hesitant about sacrafices.
If vampires do exist, I doubt they consist solely on platelets and plasma. Probably munch on the flesh too. And human blood isn't too different from most animal blood--vamp bats like it just as much as cattle and swine.
I agree with you sweetblood I have done the same and felt no different, maybe if I drank someone elses blood I might get sick or feel like I might vomit because its not my own blood. The only way I can take another person's blood would be from an intravenus that goes directly in your arm and administers throughout your body.
There are ones who would need it for the energy that's in it that they can't get just by standing next to a person. Almost like their body changes the form of the blood to suit it's needs...just like when a person digest food and drink.
I'm not entirely sure how the whole blood thing got started I mean blood doesn't flow through the body of a vamp they aren't dead so to speake they aren't the walking dead I don't think their heart still beats but the blood they drink plays no real role which is why they don't drink that much or else they get sick I think they want it for the thrill and it's strange how ur own blood poisons u when u drink it... mmmm it's all mumbo jumbo in me brain I'm question it all...
I would venture a guess that there are some origins go back to the cannibalistic beliefs. Tribes eat the flesh of their enemies or relatives with the intent of absorbing their power and abilities.
So the consumption of blood could just be an extension of this, by drawing the "liquid energy" from a victem in order to convert to energy of their own.
For sure Dog sacrifice has always been in our history… cannibalism is next to godliest a rather divine experience im told. Lol
Taste like pork n boy oh boy do I like bacon sandwiches lol
Perhaps the same reason a vampire bat and mosquitos drink blood? All open to interpretation since it is a myth and great in movies and in novels. There are people that do enjoy the taste of blood, and there are those people stating they are missing something in their chemical make up and drinking some blood helps them.
Bingo, Jarak!
why drink blood, well why not if that is what someone wants to do? Like eating dog food, if that is what someone wants to eat, who's to say no?
All a matter of personal preference... just as long as it does not involve killing or breaking the law, go for it.
People can think what if and why if to something fictional all they wish, it's just that is the legend and myth of the vampire - they need blood to survive.
Hi Jarak n LOTS
You both have good points. Personally changing the debate to win your view drives me up the wall.
If a dog didn’t eat dog food and preferred just blood would that make him a vampire puppy? Should be whats asked, changing the goal post with only one logical answer is my pet peeve.
You must understand some people do have a need for blood… what causes it im sure sciences stabs blindly in the dark with it’s own limitations.
You might learn more from listening to the sangs on here
I realize some people on the rave believe in real vampires. I want to believe. However, I'm a realist and therefore believe its lore. I don't think drinking blood is smart. AIDS,etc. I have read enough on the rave to see people have donors, etc. I assume these people have a screening for this type of activity. If not, WOW. I would never drink blood, however judge not it's a personal choice to do anything one wishes.
Aids and much much more …. Bit like sex.
When that person who looks healthy hell you even know them … and in the lust you have unprotected entry….. ever done that?
Im sure were all aware of such things … now would you like to answer the question found at the start of the thread lol
I think reasons would vary with each of the individuals active in this sort of ritual.
The way I see it, it could be a need, it could be an addiction, an obsession, or just because of its convience.
I'm sure already been said - if it is a fetish, preference, a need, or just because they like it, then why not? People enjoy many things that other find distasteful - to each their own.
i know some people that think of drinking blood as a fetish, and it always left me a little shaken because for me it's anything but. but i guess different people just have different beliefs, huh?
People need to believe that certain things do something for them, regardless of whether they actually do or not. for some people drinking blood, because they associate it with 'staying alive' becomes a dependency for them...like any other habit/addiction
As they say to each his own. We could drink blood as we love the taste, feel or even texture of it. After a while it could be some sort of an addiction or excitement. In other cases we could drink blood to get attention and even show off. I've heard in some cases where to become associated with a group you must drink blood, if even just once, to prove your loyalty. Something as a bet per say.
Yet it is agreeable for the taste and intimate attraction.
okay - the tase is one reason. the fact is, we al get the urge to drink blood - it's natural amongst carnivores, and though we are omnivorous, we are descended from carnivores. most people sublimate the blood lust by eating rare steaks, pouring gravy on their meals, or drinking red wine.
proper gravy used to be made from blood, and we have been pouring it on our food since the dawn of time.
there is also a spiritual asspect - many religions believe that by drinking the blood, we are absorbing the spiritual essence, thus enabling the spirit of the beast to live on inside us.
this concept is even present in the christian communion -though the blood is replaced by the symbolic red wine. red wine resmbles, and tastes a little like blood.
Why? well, in my case because it contains life itself... when you drink someone else´s blood, you´re having his/her life into your body...
that revitalizes me...
My brother always says that the blood is the life. So why not drink it. Besides it taste good and it sustains are hunger
Interesting question...
The answer to which I have always believed to be this...a vampire can't produce it's own new blood supply...so in order to carry on 'living' so to speak to takes the blood of other and use it for it's self...
probably because they can't move blood through their body...it doesn't flow or multiply, so they have to constantly replace their blood by drinking more...and get more in their vampire veins by drinking, since blood flow doesn't occur naturally
Blood drinkers usually have one or two donors, the donors must have blood testing done to assure their blood is safe. Most often the vampire shares a very close relationship with its donor.
"Blood" is the key to the soul... The exchange of energy/life-force/essence that occurs here cements a connection between the two people that goes deeper than flesh. It is something they experience in their hearts and in their spirits, and it is something that can tie them together empathically and even telepathically over great distances.
From the following link:
http://www.sacred-texts.com/goth/vrb/vrb08.htm
it is said that vampires drank blood to keep up their supernatural powers such as imortality and supier strength as well as others not menthoned as well as to keep up their life force energys
I think the blood is more symbolic, in folklore especially, than anything else, because blood is life. I think it's supposed to be symbolic of feeding on other people's lives, taking their energy and essence out of them.
It would be harder to comprehend if the legends were about energy sucking fiends.
I guess it depends on which plot you follow. In Blade, vampires drink blood because their bodies can't sustain hemoglobin. In Buffy & Angel, vampires drink blood because blood is life and they need it to keep going. It's what keeps their human sides alive while their demon side is not.
for the most part its all about the taste as for me i am not only a blood drinker but also a soul eater and an energy drinker.
The blood is the conduit that carries all energy, its a much higher amount of energy that can be taken through the blood, and some do crave its taste.
Strange. Blood for vampires is food... Why do you eat food? Because you need it to function?
yes its food but in our day in age im sure there are other ways of obtaining your blood than from a human source
I think the only reason 'vampires' need to drink blood is for the energy. If they drank their own energy would be lost in the process.
They need the blood for energy, that is there life source. I do also believe that there heart does beat just not as intensely as a humans.
Drinking someone else's blood brings you closer to that person & gives you energy from their life force. It is also very sexual if you do it the right way.
Blood is the living soul, it creates a bond unlike any other.
The blood does have energy because scientist have proven that even after death or after an accident where someone has spilled blood that their blood remains alive and active for several hours....so I think that life blood power is in it in my own opinion that others could very well use possibly.
mysticalmoon15 - I'd like to see a link to that story or article. ;]
I personally think drinking someones blood is a bonding experience. It is very erotic for a couple.
morbidcuriousity - What about for those who aren't apart of a couple?
good point. I should have specified I was not referring to a couple as in partnership or relationship. I was referring to just two people that are together as in one and there donor.
Ahhh, well when you put it that way it makes much more sense. ;]
Sorry about the confusion. I should have specified more.
Well If it was a Vampire Drinking it then it would be for pure life energy, and yes the blood may not flow through them but by staking a Vampire in the heart it is the fastest way to get all of the blood out of there body and you can't heal a heart like you could rap up a cut or something on your arm of leg.
And if one was Drinking blood and weren't a vampire then either they would be doing it for religious reasons and or they just like the flavor of it like one person above me said they do like it so is why they drink it..
Chaos -
What about if they're just interested in seeing what it tastes like?
