i do think that people are vampiric in nature. the feeding and the drawing on energy from those around us is normal for us. i just think that some closed minded people hear vampire and think of evil, and it's a shame,
I that were a possibility, would it not make sense that there would automatically be a commonality amongst blood types? No O Neg, A POS, no passing on nutrients relative to a specific genetic code.
So, to me, the consumption of blood based on the theory that one is dosing on nutrients -- you'd probably get more nutrients, less exposure to unwanted bacteria and minimal gag-reflect from a protein shake and vitamins. Your body is just searching out what it can hopefully get some use out o when your sucking back a salty mouthful of blood.
I never said it was a perfect system, just a probable one
We all crave for something, be it love, money, power, fame.. Just like vampires crave for blood.
True enough... though the basic idea behind vampirism was a parasitic nature and a dependancy upon normal humans despite being superior in many ways...
Digression - Funny that, we humans always have a tendancy to create these terrible foes; but either make them to be dependant upon us (the vampire mythology, or it's most recent reincarnation; the machines in the Matrix movies - requiring humans to siphon the energy from to sustain their own artificial life - Perhaps I should write a "The Matrix Machines... modern day vampirism article?" *laughs*) or give them what might seem like ridiculous rules (only being able to move around in darkness, not being able to enter our homes uninvited... the sanctity of holy ground,) we create nightmares... but we give ourselves a measure of safety whilst doing so.
Blimey, this week (UK) episode of Moonlight was watched by a few people! Same thing said there equating vampirism and celeb stalking journalism
*laughs* Actually I watched that episode about a month back... but still the theories are sound enough
i do believe that everyone has a little bit of vampire in them, in some part of their nature. it may be subtle, like a controling personality of some other "Vampiric" trait, but i think everyone has that in them
That's a whole other thing though isn't it, what constitutes a vampiric trait. You can bend any subset of society to fit whatever rules and sublimations of culture they follow
A vampire is, in it's most simplest terms a parasite... something that feeds upon another... much as humans are dependant upon their society.
We all have needs that we would like to have met. I agree you could view this as we are all vampiric in our own ways. I am a very needy person in that I want attention from the one I love. I guess that could be considered a form of energy transfer, I am absorbing the attention I receive and am feeling its power.
Likewise individuals such as my Akra and I feel empowered when others fear us, or lust for us.
I have always believed that Vampires are Archetypes, part of our Collective Unconscious. Memories of Vampires are held in our unconsciou, memories, sightings, dealings with them. All is there, in every corner of this planet you will find folk tales of vampire like creatures, all with the same motifs, ways of feeding, some variations but always leading to the same point, methods of killing.
I have also always known that there is nothing to fear from vampires, the vampire is no more nor less to be feared than any common person. It is not being a vampire that creates an evil creature to be feared, it is the gain and thirst for power in that creature that makes it evil.
Again another point raised... Evil.
Evil... is there even such a thing? I understand the concept of it... it being the direct opposite of what should be, what is right... but evil itself? I believe good and evil to be nothing more than a point of view. So to say something is inherently evil is a misplacement of words... to say someone's actions is to bias an opinion depending upon one's own standing. Nothing more.
Akri- in your initial post you seem to indicate that drinking blood would be all most medicinal for humans, but the health sciences would suggest otherwise. Our body is not meant to ingest large quantities of blood and apparently work just as well without drinking any blood.
I know that... I'm simply stating that if consumption of blood was adapted to then there are nutrients in it just as there are nutrients in any other product that we've managed to force-feed ourselves
But then I have seen what evil can do, I have held a weeks old infant with cracked ribs, because a woman s bf could not stand his crying, evil, yes, very evil.
Anyone that has power over others can abuse that power, and that can become a very evil being.
Child abuse, starvation, feeding of the oppresed, no point of view needed.
As it is evil to have starving children and yet pay someone millions to play a game, evil? god yes, yet as a society we accept many such evils.
As to the taking of blood, I can never forget that in the Bible, there is a reference about not drinking blood, the idea and belief in vampires was ackowledge, I have never accepted that a vampire only needs to drink blood, and the amount differs from person to person.
Cruel. Not evil. Evil is a view point, cruel is a fact.
Evil allows cruelty to be performed, the fact is only there because the intention was evil.
But my point was that many have the idea that Vampires are bad, evil, cruel, my point is that they are not, simply a state of being, the idea of the vampire being a bad creature was in response to the actions of those that could not control themselves.
And as an aside, as a Catholic I have always been amazed at the vampiristic rite being performed in every mass, the eucharist is a clear description of such a rite
"Drink this for this is my blood"
Evil is simply a certain, specific identity for what might be considered wrong. It paints a picture of black and white, right and wrong and is a method of quite simple control; don't give room for comprimise... this is right, that is wrong... make the wrong into something fearful and it is Evil... but consider if you will that by all accounts of Evil... manslaughter is evil... regardless of intent... a man protecting his family whom kills another is considered evil by definition... as evil as say a rapist. Evil is a term designed to weild absolute control... now some people like to have control in their lives... they like to be controlled... they like boundries, like to believe in definite rights and obvious wrongs... I don't. The world isnt like that.
Hitting an infant and breaking his ribs is evil, no circumstanses change that, the intent was evil, the act was evil and the person was evil, there is no justification for hurting an infant that way.
Situational ethics do not apply in this case.
Yes we condemn someone that kills one person to the death penalty and give a medal to a soldier that kills 1000. Yet it is not the same thing, we can go back and say that all killing is wrong, that there is no thing as a just war.
Knowing that there is such a thing as evil is not trying to control anyone, it is simply admitting a fact.
My question is, when does the individual justify when a killing is a crime or morally wrong? This would be the immediate question.
the part about emotions i totally agree with, the part about the actual blood drinking im not so sure...
i think it all just gets digested (as in dissolved) and doesnt do much else. its like thats why diabetics cant take insulin in a tablet form, because it would all just be destroyed and wouldnt work!
i dont know if this helps but interesting question, thought-provoking! X)

Honestly, I have been saying this for my entire membership and made several threads about it- humans do not parallel vampires... vampires parallel humans.
I beileve this makes a lot of sence in the fact that all humans are energy based, we all use and draw upon the energy of plants and animals to survive in one way or another, eating is a form of vvampirism as we absorb what we eat and use its energy to sustain our own, it could be a very complex ideal.
I no some one said this before me but aren't vampires just blood sucking monsters that lurk in the night for there pray..? i am sort of something my self.. haven't put a name on it yet and i do love the idea of what a vampire is.. I love there storoes..
I feel also that Vampires paralle us human. We are a parasite as well if you think about it we kill animals for food and even each other because we get angry so I mean how different are we than the Vampire? they just take it to another level by taking from humans yet we take from one another also ... So it is all the same whenever you get done that there is not much difference between us all.
This interests me because I have once thought about the same thing. But I'm not doctor so I have no idea what happens when you drink blood. I have drank blood before but also if a human consumes too much their blood will clot because of the iron I think. It has something to do with all the iron in your blood. But I do understand what you are saying. It's facinating that almost all legends are based upon our own human feelings it seems. Though it may not be the perfect system or hypothesis you proclaim but it is a probable one.
this is a very instristing thought after thinking about it in a way if you do look at it in this light we all vampires there are just things in life we crave that we can not live with out or so we think but if you do manage to live with out that one thing you usually replace it with another
Vampires need blood to survive. Humans need water, food etc. to survive. People say vampires are like parasites. But aren't humans like parasites too? So...yes, we are just the same
LOL People say Vampires need Blood to survive well what is in our veins? we HAVE to have Blood as well to survive, plus all the other things as well.
yet technically we can survive a long time without Food as long as we do have fluids/water we will survive.
I am a Phelebotomist and surgical nurse bey trade and yep we are all parasites in some way or another. just however you wish to veiw it all.
It could be said that, in actual fact the mythical vampire would be a more constructive member to society as a whole since they have limitations as to what they can do; depending upon the myth they cannot stand daylight... dare not touch fire... they would not kill their food source... but could keep them alive for years whilst feeding upon them...
Centuries of learning... a higher intellect...
Saddam was a vampire ...feeding off of his country's people for the betterment of his living standards.
An overbearing employer driving his or her employees crazy could be considered a vampire.
I see what you mean...
I see the point and it does make a lot of sence, but a vampire has to have blood in its pure form, where as a human may eat meat or vegatables and absorb the nutrients from it. A vampire has to have fresh blood, its the energy within they seek, where as a human body creates energy from that it partakes of a vampire can not. A most interesting theory, I enjoyed reading this post.
Why is it that peeps always refer back to blood? It's not so much about blood I believe as it is the energy. Blood can be listed as energy...yes. Emotions would also be an energy that other people can feed off of.
unfortunately most can not take in more then maybe barely a quart of blood with out gagging to begin with.
So it would be highly unlikely that any benefits would come from a drop or 2 here and there hence why vampires of myth usually focused on a single target until
A. they drained them dry
B. made them one of his/her childer
C.was caught and killed
You can also see that live off of other things maybe not the consumption of blood but the consumption of food. We are not self sustaining. If we do not take in food and water we are all dead. We are weaker if we do not take in some kind of protein. We survive off other things that makes us all vampiric in nature.
I guess in some forms we are all vampiric in nature, we all need blood to survive in some form.
We are all vampires at the point we feed from living things
I think that we all are and but we do not feed on blood persay
We feed on other ppl's engery and life force
I can agree with that logic. To some degree we are all "feeders" in some form, but there's a degree of how much one "needs" more than another. To take energies and not being able to give back because you lack it so much....is the difference.
It is something I agree with, that's why for me vampires are still human and equal to us, I don't see them as superior.
Everyone feeds, it's just that everyone feeds in a different manner.
We all need blood/energy to survive.
And we all crave for different things.
personally, i think that we are a vampires in some way or the other.
for the most, every human needs blood
the nurients in blood would make anyone stronger
or energy and experiences emotions which others feed off of and react to.
every person in this world has feeling in which others react to..
but first the emotion has to be absorbed... like anything else in this world
I believe that everyone is a vampire in one way or another. From when we are in the womb, until we die.
Interesting thread, don't know if I agree with you with the above statement. I don' think we are all vampires. Some do feed on energies around them, and some I believe are subconscious. And some on blood of course. But even if some are feeding subconsciously and they are not aware they are vampires. I still do not think we could all be vampires.
Don't one think that we all are capable of feeding on something. Like how a thunderstorm makes some feel more alive or a sunny spring morning?
First off, nice post its nice to see someone back up thier opinion with accurate information.
I, have always looked at it in two different ways.
Yes, everyone does need the nutrients and oxygen presents in RBC's and WBC's to sustain our physical body, but we do not need to consume it in order to maintain the proper levels due to our bodys natural replication system,
BUT
Vampires themselves do need it for some reason, and not only that i feel that we as a whole whether we consume blood or energy, have some sort of special gift not present in other of humanity. Not everyone can extend thier tendrils into another's chakra to consume energy,a nd not everyone can puncture someone and withdraw the fluid of life. The vampire community as a whole is very distinct in comparision to those of everyday humanity.
Starr
i think that everyone has to have blood to survive whether it be human or animal only images inprinted in the minds are used to make people fear vampires as an imprint of a shark to child but having to feed on blood is if looking at tecnical terms like having a blood transfusion from an operation we need it to survive....
In one way or another, everyone has characteristics of vampires...being as we feed off of something...some type of energy.
I wouldnt think this is so. It is true that there are many ppl who absorb blood by different means, ie raw steak, drinking it by either another person or their own.
I always tend to drink or suck my blood when I cut myself if it is a small cut and the blood is just slowly coming out. I dont count myself as a vampire just because I do this.
I do agree with this in regards to energy in particular I think we are all vampiric just some are stronger than others in drawing on others energy. You can draw on people's energy just walking down the street.
So in the realm of energy vamps I believe we are all vampiric.
As for blood not so sure, many people are squeemish when it comes to blood and I think many would rather die than drink blood.
I think there is a little bit of a vampire nature in every human.. Mostly with the wanting something to live like vampires need blood. Every person needs something.. That they feel or deffinetly can not survive without..
I agree on many levels here...
But it is the main fact that we are natural hunters...We are as humans, even though somewhat vunerable, have stayed at the top of the food chain for a reason....Be it vampiric abilities hidden within or just the true nature of what we are.....
This is probably the most interesting and thought-provoking thread that I have come across in a while. I was completely consumed by all of the posts.
What an intruguing thought that we are all vampires. It totally makes sense though. It boils down to a need and desire - we all have them. Whether or not we identify ourselves as vampires is really a moot point. We all consume energy from the environment and people around us. The nature of that energy - positive or negative - certainly has an effect on us and is relayed through our actions/emotions.
The question of blood? I think that we all need blood to survive. Our bodies produce it - it is a necessity. However, I think that it may be possible that those who "crave" blood are actually lacking in some nutrient found in the blood and their body is reacting in a way to signal the brain to find a source for that nutrient. Possible?
Isn't it true that you could actually die from consuming too much blood?
Last time I checked...I was a living breathing human...and I don't like the sight of blood.
ewww babies...
they poop themselves and drool.
I dont think so...
i agree with the posts in here... we all have a vampire side weather we choose to accept it or not.... deep inside it's there...
NightIntrigue -
It's certainly true people will get sick from drinking too much. It's a reflex of the stomach.
Everlasting, all those garlic and co. stories aren`t Hollywood .... they`re traditions and ways of protection that in some areas, isolated areas from my country, but still, are still used. old people who still believe in the existence of those oldschool brainless vampires.
and ... I think, as many here do, that each of us has a vampiric part in him/her. But it`s more of a self-created illusion
Interesting in that human nature and animal nature are similar and a mythical (or not depending on belief) would so closely mimic our own nature is an interesting notion.
If you think about it, we all need to feed off of some form of energy. We all do it differently, though. Just being in a relationship, friendship or even in a group/team sport are excellent examples of needing to rely on other peoples ennergies. Without the other persons energies we cannot complete our tasks. Therefore, I agree that we are all vampires.
I disagree.
I think that although there are many people out there that may have that vampiric tendency (Sanguine, Energy, Psychological or Emotional) borne in them, there are others that are givers, or donors--whether voluntary of not.
It's just the natural order of things.
When people think about vampires they do commonly think of blood; the blood that a vampire consumes to survive. In saying that all humans are vampires there is a lot of truth to that. Take a good look at what we eat. We cook and eat the flesh of animals, the very blood and cells of the creature; the only difference is that it’s not raw. Then you take into account the vegetation we consume which also are living organisms; with cells that carry the nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plants. When you consume the plants you consume in a sense the same cells of other living organisms. Without this sustenance wee take from other living organisms we would die, much like the vampire take its sustenance through blood, humans take it in the same manner only they want the flesh as well. There fore to say we are all vampire is a very true statement, we all are parasites depending on other creatures to survive.
That is very well stated UtahVamp. I have never really thought about it that way. But that does seem to be very true.
Hey akri,
I have a question for you............
Where did you get that saying at the bottom??
Not more importantly what is your feelings on the subject you made??
And last but not least why is it I think we are vampires well I say we would adsorb anything taken into our bodies as lot as it is subject to our acids.
Now as to pack hunting humans have done this when we were a very primitive creature so as it would continue today is very plausible.
And for the record I don't think we are all vampires maybe hunters or destoryers I would agree but not vampires.
I can prove by simply what you said I mean you did say that "if they can feed without gagging" so maybe some can do this like maybe as in it is a hereditary trait.
Or maybe it is just that we may be able but choose not to "I must consider this to".
But anyways I think the human body can only stand so much of another's blood then it will collapse.......
I say that because our bodies naturally have our own cancer cells and bacterial cells in that will not effect us but somebody else it will because they have a different strand of DNA.
That is how others get sick it is because the bacterial infection was switched to another person who body did not recoginize it because it was not from the body itself.
But I must say that you made a very interesting post and I give you hands down a appluase for that sire.^_~
PSI vampire makes a good point also; there is a certain amount of balance in the world; whether we choose it or not, it is there.
I think it has something to do with the darker side of life. People have used blood for many reasons of power or belief and we have found the power that has been taken from us. We are all part of the wonders of the world and dark and light are just subjects of what we believe. There isn't a right or a wrong. It's just what feels right. Energy makes the world go around.
PsiVampire - I agree with you to an extent. But even the donars are the vampires to their prey. It's part of the food chain really.
There is some truth to what you have said .There is alittle bit of vampire within us all
I wanted to become a vampire all along when naturally I am one
I was looking it up and someone was asking how to become one it hurt me to see someone post a comment on that persons question calling them a freak. People have the right to express themselves in any way they want even if they want to show the "creature" within.
there are sexual vampires, or succubus and incubus, as many may know them, i call them sex vamps because they feed on the pleasure of sex to survive
there are your elemental vamps = the ones that are always in parks for the energies, a park has all four elements and when quiet is a great place to attune oneself....
Many people feel a little vamp in them is natueral i know i have some psy vamp in me
If humans are considered as energy-based, could they not feed of pure misery instead of just energy?
agreed this is a good thread but many knows vampires are real or exsist thats why we are simply here smile
Yes agree 100 percent everyone is a vampire in their own way.. If you feel it or know it then you are one.. Thanks to the Prince we can be out and about and discuss it freely with out getting funny looks.
CountessOfShadows -
Would you explain your reasoning for thinking so?
In my opinion not everyone is a vampire....but I think that they are possibly similiar to some extent in vraius forms....
you would have to say vampire like not vampire since it is "we all" to most people vampires are the sucking blood, cant be touched by the sunlight, holy water & crosses & stuff. You are right but i think you are trying to conclude every human in that statement so you would have to go by the hollywood vampire belef stuff
mysticalmoon15 -
Would the likeness be from things such as humans also feed off of things around them and whatnot?
its not if you conusme the blood - its if you can LIVE off it - if you can survive on it alone. That's what I think constitutes to a real vampire anyways.
yes i do think that we have some vampiric tendencies so we can say we all have litle vampire in us
We're not "vampires" in any way, we are people. People with brains, a control for our hunger, and a heart. A very small list of what people have that vampires do not.
In theory we are all vampires as we take from others and nature that which will sustain our life.We absorb energy and nutrition from everything around us in some form or another whether it is the drinking of blood or the taking of energy from all things around us.We are all reliant on that which gives us life and sustains life.
i agree with sumkindamonsta - its totally true the were destroying this planet... its vampiric but without the poetic beauty. damn reality >.>
We are what we are, I don't know why we have to name ourselves. We are ALL individuals, even though some may have the same interests or cravings or whatever it may be. We are still all different in differnet ways. There are so many labels that people call themselves or others.
If you want to label us as Vampires also then so be it.. I mean I do not believe in labels.
yet, we are simular to them after all they feed off liveing things and so do we.. we kill for our survival as well as they do so it can be taken any way people wanna look at it.
if you thimk about really the only difference between humens and vampires are that vampires are immortal and drink blood to survive so if a human drinks blood why not forget the immortal part and call them a vampire
i understand where you are going and i can see why you said that but if you saw a person contract there fangs or speak to you through there mind what could you say about that.....
