I'm sorry but I have to ask.

Is anyone else as disturbed as I am by all the young ones that we have accumulated here????

I don't want to take away from anyones right to be here but I think there should be an age limit.

How do you feel getting biten by a 13 year old??? And all the whining and carrying on not to mention the conduct.

Am I wrong?????????

Unfortunatly... it's quite difficult to keep underage people off of a site like this. After all, it is the internet. All they have to do is lie.

I don't mind the youngsters. What I do mind is the fact that a lot of them have no sense of propriety. They don't think before they post.

I've said in other threads that I'd be more than happy to mentor the youngins insofar as "Hey, do you think this is ok to post?" Or for anything else concerning propriety on the site. I'm an old fart, so I don't think it's out of line for me to get a little paternal. :-)

I don't think age is a problem, just maturity. As Jason stated, "... a lot of them have no sense of propriety.". I know I am young, only being fifteen, but I am well educated on internet etiquette, if the members of this website can offer to mentor, even if its just a little bump in the right direction, we can all start seeing a better community.

After all, we were all newbies once.

I am a moderator, and I have taken the role of admin, on other forums. After a while, you can easily draw inferences on what works best for a community.

I can live with being bitten by a 13 year old, it's when I get a message that reads " I wanna f@ck you and I'm only14" that makes me feel a little strange.... considering I could be the boys mother!!!

But on a serious note, this is an open forum, and even if there was an age restriction, do you think they won't lie about the age to be here?

We do have some adult content, and adult themes, but really, don't you think they can learn far worse from other sites than from here?

I'd personally like to have an older crowd here, but I've met some lovely younger generation that remind me of myself at their age.

Kiddie Corner might be an eliment of the site, but is it really kiddie? I'd think you find most of these new younger memebers probably know more about life and what's in it than some of us.

God knows they seem to go through the same things we do.

But before anyone does so, have a think about what your grip is, I don't want comments that some person is biting you, or hitting on your partner etc.

but as the ever articulate mr jason guy said I have no problem "mentoring" but at the same time there are some who just refuse to learn.....that is why there became a need for a block function.....in a utopian site, such a thing would not be necessary.

Aye, it is ones mentality that need be monitored on this site. In rare cases there are young adults who can converse perfectly with a mature adult. It isn't a question of the age, but of their train of thought.

I'll check into the biting/block issue.

But there was an earlier bug that has been fixed. Make sure the person is *really* blocked. You'll know because they'll be listed at the bottom of the Message Center screen. If they're not listed, they're not blocked.

The bug was giving confirmation that a user was blocked, but the system wasn't adding the user to your block list.

Mine Cancer, was a case that was the opposite way around.

As long as it's fixed, I'm quite happy.

Thanks for the comments guys, I was actually referring to some extreme immaturity issues, I have yet to come across a mature one. Though the young man who posted is to be commended.

i know what you mean. some of them can say some very inaproppriate things that make me wonder what i did to deserve such disrespect. it's not the biting i'm worried about, i couldn't give a stuff. it's the way they start a conversation. no, "hi how are you my name is..." instead it's "hey you wanna ****?" it's stupidity from the word go cos I'M ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE GLOBE!! and it's just rude. if someone said that to me on the street they'd be looking up at me from the flat of their back, so im not going to accept it online. don't get me wrong i don't care that they are here it's just the way they lack respect.

Okay, here goes. I really don't mind the biting..it's nice to be thought interesting, but come on people. At least have some sort of interesting comment or question. All bites without SOMETHING (comment/question/whatever) attached or follwed will, quite simply, be deleted. I'm tired of guessing what was so great that had me get bitten in the first place.

Well, Im eighteen. I dont know what sort of age limit you propose is, but I think (correct me if I am wrong) that I am thoughtful about my posts and how they affect people, and not to put anything pointless.

In regards to the beginning of the thread, yes it is wierd when thirteen year olds start biting you without a word of introduction. I think there is a form of etiquette in life that only comes with a 'sence' of maturity, whether it is present or not.

Social skills, Rabd? Social skills can be learned? you mean there's HOPE for me?

the way i see it age shouldn't be an issuefor these reason

1 age limits seem to me to only apply in situations of drugs nudity sex and violence
i don't think we advicate these thing to any great extreme

2 most of these kids are going through issue, in school family and other items, that most of us have been though and can help with

3 if someone feels these children are out of line perhaps they sould discuss this with them

Erm hate to disappoint you dude but I never knew of this site when i was growin up an i turned out alright any way havin a little difficulty growin up is normal and thats why ppl have mates their there 4 u always bsides it will shape who we turn into so it's all good

now the last two posts are like a double edged sword.....on one blade...you have those who get through childhood torture tactics at least partially unscathed.....but then there is the other blade.......the kid who they take it too far with.....some of them take the simple way out.....and some strap bombs to themselves before going to school....I agree that we ought not to restrict them.....unless they get out of line....for some the concept of courtesy needs to be beaten in.....I know....I was one such earlier in life....so i think I have a good perspective here......I dislike the children too.....but i dislike cesorship more

well im only 14and it dosnt mean i act my age and im sick of getting steryotyped as by people cause im 14 and a goth then i must listin to stuff like avril lavigne and good charlotte when i listen to stuff like sisters of mercy lacuna coil etc im on this site to find people with same interests full stop .
