Hail,
I recently became a proud member of PETA...and vegetarian to...
I was wondering if there were others here who support PETA and are vegetarian or vegan.
I think this is one of the subjects that are hard for some people to talk about. I use to be a vegetarian for about 3 years. I do eat some meat know but its only hot dogs(I know whats in them)and sometime hamburgers. Where I think the problem is I dont think I need to go out to kill something to get meat when its at the store. I think its great you are now part of peta, its going to be a hard road but good for you and good luck!!
First thing: I like animals more than people
(which is not a big thing, because I don't like people at all), but I'm not sad while I eat well prepared animal flesh! Do you think that a tiger would think about human rights if he finds you somewhere in his area? If we agree that everything exists with a purpuse, what is the purpose of those fangs you have?
I have a cousin who is a Vegan, but never asked her much about it. Me personally, I have no clue what peta is, but will say one thing, me being a vegie only would saverly hurt me and cause some major conflicts with the "Dragon"
MMMmmmm not sure I do eat chicken (a LOT lol) but not really into other meats and if I do its usually Halal meat but not Kosher (yuk!! no offence to anyone who likes it though obviously) but I would be a full fledged veggie if I didn't eat chicken though lol
peta=pro ethical treatement of animals, if i good remember...
stoping eating hambuger will spend 1 maybe 2 cows a year...
but i'm definetly against furrs cloths...
ob1 ,actually it's 'People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' but that's not important...
Ghoul, there are BIG differences between us and a hungry tiger.
First of all,a tiger doesn't know better,he doesn't think 'bout what he does,he just wants to protect his area...
Second I'd like to point out that a tiger (or any other meat eating animal) probably can't survive by only eating vegetables,we don't need meat...
And last I want to say thanks for the response and that I respect your opinions.
I'd like to ask you to think 'bout where your 'delicious' comes from and how the animal on your plate has suffered.
Maybe it seems like I'm bitching and that I'm trying to change you.Trust me I'm not doing any of that...
So if you eat meat, well I hope you enjoy it as much as I once did...
I'm sorry,I typed a big mistake...
I wanted to reply so quickly that I took Ghoul as Zlee's name...I accidently looked at Zlee's status and mistook it for her name...*ashamed*
i support peta but i do eat meat i dont eat alot though. i like the ideas tht peta has.
I could never give up a nice big fat steak.....rare. But theres nothing wrong with people who choose the veggie road. I just don't understand how they won't eat meat but they'll eat fish?
umm no but my ex is a vegeterian and she wont touch any meat which i guess is kool cuz that leaves more medium rare hamburgers with cheese and bacon for me lol
Im a big animal lover (Im getting rats soon, Im very excited!) and Ive been a strict vegetarian (but not a vegan) for about five years now.
EATING MEAT IS MY BIRTHRIGHT and has been past down from generations, i do support peta in that we should protect animals the most inoccent of creatures on this earth, but thier is nothing wrong with eating meat as long as the animal does not go to waste, i.e the native americans are the perfect example of this, eating the buffolo with respect and using all its parts. i see absolutley NOTHING wrong with this, it is how it should be done. although i do know much of it goes to waste.
I support peta and what it does but i'm definately a meat eater. I love animals but i could never give up meat.
i agree wiht manny a lot of it does go to waste i was in pen station one day commin home from nyc and animal protecting people where there and they have a video playing showing how they animals were killed and everything kinda bloody and all and i think i kinda got them made cuz i was wtaching the video while eatting burger king lol
We dont have a right to use animals for our own gastranomical delectation. However, I dont complain at you for eating them, its your choice. So dont tell me that my decision is wrong either. :-)
btw i was kidding. one of my good friends is a vegetarian, i wouldnt eat herrr lol
i love meat though, i dont think i could ever give that up....to all you vegetarians out there....i respect you. personally i dont think i could live on a strict veggie diet. i would die.
While I understand what PETA stands for and their goals, I think like a lot of other organizations, they at times seems to go a bit overboard, or are a little zealous in their campaigns. At the same time though they are also when of the more "together" groups out there. I'm not a vegan, and I wouldn't give up the meats I eat, but on the same hand I don't eat a lot of meats to begin with. When you're on a budget, you learn to cut things out, and a lot of meats are pretty expensive, so you just end up supplementing them with pastas or rice. But every now and again a nice steak or pork roast is really good.
People need to understand that much of the meat we eat comes from animals that are strictly bred for the purpose of consumption, they are not bred or treated as a pet only to be set on the butchers block when it's time. In some instances and way, way back in the day long before any of us were even thought of, yes that's how people survived. But even then if you look at the old clan history's, people combined their resources to feed the whole village or community, that included raising live stock for consumption. It's just a fact of life. You can choose to be vegan or you can choose to eat meats simple as that.
im a vegetarian. i just cant take the thought of all these animals being born to die just so that some one can have a nice juicey burger!!i love animals and im trying to get people here in antigua to treat them better, but its not working so well.
Don't get me wrong, I and I'm sure many, many other meat eaters, love animals as well. I've had many pets in my life and wouldn't dream of eating them, even if I was desperate, and there have been times when I've had hardly nothing to eat but a few packs of Ramen noodles and crackers (most people know you can buy like 10 packs of these for a $1 here in the states) and no dog food, and I've made my last packs of noodles and fed them to my animals and I ate the crackers. The point being, that certain animals have been bred for consumption, others aren't.
oh no echo hun i wan't sayin that ur wrong i wsa just voice my oppion
No misfit, I meant MannyBebop and talking about Birthrite :-)
Lol DarknessBound... :-)
if u think about it, its all part of the food chain.
hunting animals and eating them its the way our ancestors were able to survive. it is in our blood.
reason why so many people are vegetarian is because times are more sophisticated now than they were before. we have a knowledge they didn't back then and we have options and nutritional goodies that dont include the killing of animals.
Almost all of my life, our family has raised rabbits and deer for food. Honestly, I didn't even know we were eating them till I was about 12 cause I never payed any attention. But as soon as I figured it out, I was the strictest vegan you can imagine. Then, when I was 15, my parents bought a farm and within 2 years, they were raising 500 chickens for eggs to sell to local grocery stores. I hated eggs (and chickens in general) before this, but this pushed me over the edge. I was so sickened while living on the farm that I wouldn't eat. I was put in the hospital numerous times, totalling about 6 months. Then I met Michael. That man eats nothing but meat. But him and I were in love and on my 20th birthday, he took me to the Herford House, not even knowing that I was a vegan. He pused me to eat a very rare steak. After the first bite, I couldn't stop. Since then, I have eaten meat at least once a day. Even now, I am transforming into a Wite Tiger and I eat raw meat more often than cooked. Sorry if that is gross to any of you. Any how, I respect any vegitarians or vegans, but at the same time, I respect the meat eaters cause it takes damn patience to wait for your food to be cooked! :P
Well..if that is not Irish, I don't know what is, "Vegetarian Vampires" heh..
Sorry friends, Steak Blue.. the rest is for the whimps so that the real Vamps can have their veggie blood sweetened before we have them tied and bound and on the sacrifical table ;)
*Whistles.. dinner's ready*
Em, you cheeky little scamp. We vegetarians and vegans might make an exception now *prods you with a fork* :-)
If i was wealthy and had good chefs to cook for me, then i could quite happily not eat meat, but as things stand at the moment, i eat to survive and thats it, what ever comes my way, i have to take.... What would happen though if more people ate veg only and no meat? Where would all teh animals go and do? There would be that many of them we could not take care of them, hell, they'd be sheep gamboling around the street, cows eating up your garden and chickens laying eggs all over the place...
PETA? People eatting tasty animals? I suppose I can get behind that.
After all I didnt climbing up the food chain to eat lettuce.
hmmm? i was not saying anything negative toward you Echo i was just saying it is my birthright to eat meat, ancestors have done so since history could be written and even before that.
I support animal rights and I love all animals. But I do eat meat. I don't think this issue is divided between Meat eaters and animal lovers, to simplify it down to those two extremes is to not understand the issue and hence, you would never accomplish anything. I do eat meat, I support others who eat meat, as well as those who choose not too. Choice in it's own is a wonderful thing no one should suffer because of their opinions.
I do not however. agree with the mass slaughtering of animals, to produce far more meat then we need as a result, most of what we buy or kill, is wasted. That to me is sick. The meat I eat has been raised, or hunted by my family. Simple as that.
you didn't answer me why you have the fangs. Forcing myself to do what I think is against my nature won't change the way animals are treated!
I love animals and plan to be a zoology major, and I have sworn off all meat except chicken. However, I could not live without eating some type of meat..... I admire the dedication of those who can.
i eat meat and lots of it. if you choose not to...great! more for me. i do believe that animals should be treated well and not abused in any way however i do not think it cruel to use them for food.
all i now of PETA is that they go a lil crazy with themselves and their ideas. sometimes to the point of being scary. i stay far, far away from them.
I am both. I love animals, all kinds. I would rather be around animals than most people I know. I eat meat. I wear leather. I don't wear fur. I don't believe in killing animals for sport. If you kill an animal I think that you should use all of the animal that includes meat and skin. I think killing an elephant for its tusks or a seal for its fur is inhumane especially since most poachers don't kill the animals just take what they need and leave the animal to suffer. I have friends who are vegetarians as well as vegans. I respect their values as they respect mine.
I am very much for animal rights....and very much against PETA...they go waaaay too far to the point of giving false info as scientific fact....I know a girl who fell into their trap and after a few months of feeding her child only soymilk and supplements had her severely malnourished child taken from her by social services.....
we are omnivores...not only herbivores....also not only carnivores....
we are designed for both....
my front teeth are designed to cut and tear....my back ones to mulch vegetation
but even I usually restrict to chicken or fish...simply because it is a healthier diet..
my .02$
Well said Daermon..... At the end of the day, we are kinda 'programmed' to eat meat and if you put two people under a scientific test, one who ate meat and one who never, it would be very interesting to see who was the healthier and who lived the longest..
hmm. I think we are designed to eat meat, but we also do so many other things our bodies haven't been designed to do I'm not sure if that is much of an argument. or an excuse. Some sick freak could say out there he was designed to rape a girl because he had a penis.
hah I don't know really what I'm talking about, I agree we are built to eat meat. But I think many people eat too much of it, and waste too much of it.
Once again, as with everything else. It seems like a matter of balance and choice. We should eat what we want, only in moderation. Of course it is our choice not to eat any meat at all and that works as well.

thats a very interesting read on the subject...
of course squiddy...
think i'll have some calamari now......
(nibbles squid's arm)
I am a meat lover in every sense of the word.
Its not dinner without a nice juicy steak.
"....You can't have any pudding if you don't eat your meat!"
Daermon,you said
'I know a girl who fell into their trap and after a few months of feeding her child only soymilk and supplements had her severely malnourished child taken from her by social services.....'
You chouldn't blame PETA for that,it was her own fault !!! Some sites warn you that it isn't that healty for kids younger then 5 years!!!
Other sites (and people I've talked to) say that those warnings aren't correct and that there should be no problem raising vegan kids.
I don't know the girl's story so who am I to judge?
Jummy meat! I cant imagine eating only vegetables...cos I suppose I would eat every ten minutes =)
Dhampir...
The animals would run off and frolic in their new freedom ;-))
But then there would be Aminal Farm...
*chuckes*
Murcia,
Every child and person is different. Just because some plan works for some people doesn't mean it is healthy for others.
I am an animal lover and a meat eater...was a vegeterian for some time.
Humans need meat.Imagine that a cow refuses to eat hey `cos she doesn`t want to hurt it...
yeah, doesn't anyone ever feel bad for the fruit or vegetables? they're alive too...
fruit or vegetables? I feel bad for them thats why I dont eat them..lol there is nothing wrong with a person who eats or dont eat meat. Could some of us eat less meat maybe yes.But who are we to say?
Also as in for animal lovers? I have bags of dog food in my car for the ones on the street. I have the apl on my cell phone. Also I have one dog one cat.
i love those people who are vegatairains
and i also love those meat eaters too
for i love a good steak anyday of the week
the biggest problem for the right of animals isn't people eating meat or too much meat...
it's that there life don't even worth 1$....
i've heard that after madcow crisis thousands cows were killed just because the meat prize had lowered...
there r so many such examples....
the reason I blamed peta in that was the peta local group in lethbridge gave her all manner of false data stating that milk canis harmful....and she was not producing enough herself.....the Idea of peta is a good one...the way they go about things is just short of terrizing people sometimes.....I realise that is not the whole group..just some extreme members...but they do or say nothing to discourage their extremists...usually they give them full backing.
I am a vegetarian as well as a Vegetarian/Vegan chef. I don't care about animals, fuck the animals. I just hate what meat does to the system and the look and taste of it. I prefer my organics.
I dont have a problem with people eating or cooking meat around me. I just wont eat it. I used to but got food poisoning from it. Dont like the taste either. But we have to kill animals to eat. I dont mind if they are killed in a humaine way but i hate it when they are killed in disgraceful ways. You'd hate it if you were in their position.
Banshee, you may feel you need meat, but Im happy without, infact I think if I tried to eat meat now the results would be unpleasant.
I love chicken and Plus liver meow mix meow mix please deliver! i do love meat although lately i have been eating healthier with a Juice shot called Jamba Juice which is delicious and i have been eating that for dinner or breakfast when ever i can squeeze it in as a meal, its delicous!
lol sorry my mistake i put juice shot its juice shop, my favorite is a drink called Peach Pleasure and Mango'a'go go, its much better than a Big Mic
Every creature on this planet consumes life or is consumed. If a chicken had the chance, it would consume my flesh without question... or at least I think it would. Not really sure on what chickens eat.
Anyway, off topic. I'm just a part of the food chain. And I'm happy to say that I seem to be near or at the top.
I'm going to really stir the pot up here.
1. First, I don’t hold anything against vegetarians, it’s just not me.
2. The human body can survive without meat, just not as well, and for all those that resort to using pills to make up for the deficiencies in their bodies, think about it for 5 seconds. You’re substituting a natural source of Iron and vitamins for a man-made chemical based supplement.
3. Some of the ideas PETA has have good intentions behind them, but as Daermon said, they take it too far.
An example of this: PETA is holding demonstrations in front of Major American Department stores until they boycott products made from Australian Merino wool. Why? Because PETA claims that Australian farmers are inhumane because they(the farmers) Mules the rear of the sheep(Cut the tail and some small folds of skin away from the anus) when the sheep(usually Merino) are at a very young age to prevent Fly Strike. What is Fly Strike? When a small amount of faeces collects on the wool on the tail and the wool on the flaps of skin, this builds up, and attracts fly’s and they lay eggs which hatch into maggots and eat all through the hind quarters of a sheep.
And PETA is trying to cripple the entire Australian wool industry because they believe each farm needs to employ more people and round up thousands of sheep from hundreds of square kilometres every week to clean the hind-quarters of the sheep.
And just for the record, I take my steak Medium rare, and yes, I am Australian.
...and again we concluded that what is good for someone may not be for someone else..Try to thik the other way, what if some group of people makes a party against eating plants, how would all vegeterians feel like then? We all have the right to choose but we have no right to tell to other person:"Hey, your choice is bad, mine is good!", I think that is better to say:"Look, I have a different option that you may choose to try."
I agree with Zlee, this thread is going to end up as long as the nine VEXs put together...
I am a vegetarian ..have been for many years now ....i used to be a vegan but I didn't follow a good diet and kept on fainting and my skin was practically see through ..lol cool ..but i looked like shit... being a veggie is good for me cos meat tastes like the smell of dog food and fish tastes like the smell of cat food...not good...each to their own ..i don't care what anyone eats ...except when i can smell and taste a meat eater...they do taste different to vegetarians..if ya get me *winks* lol
Animal rights should be observed ...all creatures have life on this planet and we should respect their right to a comfortabe one however short it may be ...except spiders..they have to be squished....(sorry spider lovers..i have issues) ...*giggles*
i eat meat but i dont like meat the only reason i eat it is because thats all i can get where i live but when i am able to eat vegetables i do but i live on an island so thats not verry often :( ...... i am against the sale of furs aswell
P.E.T.A = People Eating Tastey Animals
lol, im kidding :]
There is no World Government established that dictates what everyone should eat. If you want to eat like a rabbit, it's your doing. Want to eat like a Lion? Go for it.
Ok so i would be healthier Triad if i got off all the supplements and pills that i use to substitue meat. But its become a way of life, meat does not exactly keep you fit as a fiddle.
i dont understand how you can eat at In'N'Out and THEN turn your back on meat the In'N'Out hamburgers will convert all vegans lol just give it a shot its sooooooo delicious Help me out west coast vamps you know what i mean!
Zlee,I've said it before,I don't want to change you...you can do whatever you want.
One of my (close) friends said that she doesn't give a damn 'bout the animals, for all she cares they can suffer.
I just wanted to know if you guys (meat eaters) think like that and as i could see from your responses it's a big NO !!!
Ok, so somebody please explain to me what the difference is between a vegetarian and a vegan? I jsut thought they were the same thing???
No one is trying to tell anyone else what they can't or can not eat, we all have our own preferences.
******IN A MOOD******
Why must you be one or the other... I love animals and eat them too....
Why do you think that ONLY animals have awareness..... just because a carrot plant hasnt ever made a noise YOU can hear...does NOT mean that it can not..nor that it isnt aware of its own existance..
yup...plants are living organisms too...
i own plants...and then you go and eat them....u damn veggie lovers ....you go and kill my plants and eat them for your pleasure....LOL
*sniffles*
they give us oxygen something you cannot live without....
they eat, they breathe, they grow, they die....anddd they hurt when u cut them and crunch it with your teeth....
mhm...
my point is...everything in this earth serves a purpose.
i agree with scarlett.
Vegetarian: Does not eat meat.
Vegan: Does not eat meat, any other animal products, nor use any animal products.
Humans are not physiologically designed to eat meat. Our canines are much less pronounced then other omnivores, and our front teeth are not sharp and pointed to tear, they're flat and semi-sharp to shear off vegetation. Our digestive systems are also not designed to efficently digest meat.
IllNeverTell, sticking to your "organics?" Hate to tell you, but meat is organic matter.
Dhampir, nearly every study done that compared the health of vegetarians to meat eaters show the vegetarians as much healthier, and on average, vegetarians have a longer life-span.
One thing to point out on this is the Tour de France, one of the most rigorous athletic competitions in the world. A vast majority of the competitors are vegetarian.
I was vegetarian for around 18 months, overall I felt much better. Lost a good bit of weight without even trying, and just felt better in general. But, I still enjoy my steak a little too much. I may go back someday down the road, but for now, I'm not as worried about keeping myself in the best health. I still drink sometimes, smoke, and use drugs. Depriving myself of the meat I enjoy just because it's healthier would be a bit silly compared to the rest of the things I do. But eventually I'll settle down and worry more about my health then enjoying my youth.
I could never understand how anyone could be a vegetarian. I grew up as meat being something you must eat with every meal (I'm from kentucky obviously), primarily chicken. I endulge in eating meat and probably always will. I'm not fat and I don't find anything wrong in eating a product if that's what it was raised for. Ironically, I actually read a study once a while ago about a piece of broccoli that was hooked up to a polygraph in front of someone eating a salad. When the person would eat the salad, the piece of broccoli would actually making the needle jump on the polygraph. But in the end, I love meat and I can't live w/out my bloody steaks and deep-fried pieces of meat. Anyone who choses not to eat meat, then they show they have far more discipline than myself. I'm not sure who said it earlier, but just because you eat meat doesn't mean you don't love animals. My cat is the love of my life. I have a great deal respect of all animals and love most of them. I guess that's my two cents on the topic.
I too have heard of studies like that...and they have known for years that plants do respond both to music and to friendly or calming speech .....
I can hear the cries of the carrots....the cries of the carrots....brother Maynard can i get an amen
Lol Toilet,I was waiting for someone to notice that. I am a DA I know
PETA has great ideas i do give you that...but how else do you expect to eat meat? YOU HAVE TO SLAUGHTER THEM!!!! thats how you eat meat!!!
Poor carrots they must be slaughtered too, before making a salad!
Orale,it isn't the slaughtering that bothers me the most,it's the fact that those animals are treated wrong !!!
Chickens live in overcrowded cages, often their legs are crippled, the animals in the lower cages have to live in the excrement of the ones in the cages above them,...(and so on...)
And it's not only the chickens, the cows,pigs,...even dogs and cats...
Murcia, I agree with your point entirely. If people want to eat meat it is their choice. However, I dont think animals should be treated as a money making oppertunity and food for a table. Humans are thought of as 'consumers' and this is because we are potential money makers for companies. We, however, prefer not to see ourselves as faceless money-making scams. Im sure animals feel the same. They are ducks, chickens, cows. NOT just 'food.'
I was only sarcastic. yes I know that, and that's sad, but can we stop that by not eating meat? I mean I can't grow chicken in my flat. And that fact that animals are trated like material for food is only consequence of some bigger things called and !
I'm an everything eater. I eat everything that aint nailed down and some that is. I have PLENTY of vegitarian friends. When I have the opportunity to cook for them... I take special measure not to use butter, or other animal base shortenings in their portions of the meal. They also understand that if they show to a dinner at my house, SOME sort of animal will be on the fair for the evening, as I am all about a good t-bone or New York Strip.
Right now, Im planning on heading out with the lunch money provided me by one of the atty's (as I had brought my lunch i didnt use it) and going to buy RAW meat and eat it. Sushi. Good shit. Normally called bait in my family, but hey...what can ya ask for, right?
I completely support everyone in what they want to eat and what they dont want to eat.
David Draiman of Disturbed is Jewish. He won't eat any meats that are not Kosher. Other than that... fair game to him.
Me? De-horn it, wipe it's ass and send it in. I'll cut off what I want and ride the rest home.
Rawk. >:)
GAH!
Atty's= Attorneys. I work for a Law firm durin the day ;)
typo:
...of some bigger things called civilization and overpopulation!
Does it matter? Is there a law that says you have to eat meat! No! Case closed, i'll eat what i want, when i want, and if yous lot dont like it, then tough s***!
Hey Vampiric666....while you're eating what you want...can you take your bra-burnin' attitude elsewhere????
It tends to ruin the meal.
hey veggies are fumigated....do you not think they die of affixiation???
thats a horrible death.......dying poisoned, then to be eated?....geez..
and animals....i know its wrong what they go through....its horrible...check this out
WARNING: Animal lovers --> this video is harsh
but hey....its all part of life. no one ever said it was an easy process...
