Other than the Moon, what elements (earthly or otherwise) do you feel have an impact of human behaviour. ie. the sun, rainfall...
I am aware that there are many studies on all these factors, I am just looking for personal opinion instead of scientific "fact".
lightning and all electrical weather types... since the brain sends electronis pulses throughout the body constantly there's bound to be an effect.
as a side note... lightning storms usually make me feel charged... almost like i can feel my surroundings better
Hurrcanes.
Check Florida's birth records.
ROFL
Of course in my house as a child a behavior modifier was also commonly referrred to as Duct Tape...
O_o
I'd have to say for me would be thunderstorms. Infact I think just weather in general really...I really change every season.
Ahhh Storms... I have some incredible pics of storms in my portfolio. I agree lightning and thunder are definately modifiers.
Hmm ... well I get phunky weerd during the night , usually at about 1 AM ..
Speaking from personal experience:
Temperature.
That's a doozy.
THe warmer (hotter) it is, the bitchier and more maladjusted I become.
The cooler the temperature is, the more pleasant I can be.
When it's humid and hot...I turn into a bad tempered sloth, so I'm generally agreeable in autumn and winter. I prefer cold weather, it's less distracting.
:: reads Requiems post ::
Ahhh... such loverly key words there, suga'... LOL
i have no idea at all be interesting to know though,
maybe the stars
The wethear.
For example I always am in a very bad mood in winter.
But than too much sun gives me a headache and too much warm wethear I get irritable.
But the sun and summer nights, without wind, give me a very happy mood.
Snow, wind, high gales outisde, and a glowing hearth fire makes me smile, and feel snug inside. Add a nice glass of merlot to that, and whatever the day has brought it eases any stress away :)
That is behaviour modification I like ;)
scents seems to effect my mood... if i in a bitchy mood i can dab sandlewood oil and feel much better... scents seems to get stuck with you... reminders of people places and such
Sound. Certain sounds just send me through the roof or mellow me right out.
The sound of light rain on the roof will make me quite and relaxed. Where fireworks going off will crank me up and get me ready for trouble.
I would have to say the weather in general triggers the mood which modifies behaviour.
Then again it is more than that it can be general changes in surroundings.Or a different person in your environment
Yes I guess it's true it happens to me when I smell sweet scents.
-- ms Emaerald >> Woooo .. veeeery nice :) How about some TV also ? :)
the weather and night seem to have the most effect on me im more energetic at night and i love the feel of a good storm
I tend to be in the same brooding mood all the time. But some things that have a negative effect on me are: Being exposed to the radiation of the sun. Also humidity and when the temperature increases above 65 degrees. I suppose every aspect of are enviroment has some effect on us no matter how major or minor.
For me its heat and the sunlight. I cant stand not being able to see in the sunlight.
I would have to say certain sounds. There are just some sounds that are soothing, such as a wind blowing in through a window or a light rain falling. I would say pretty much anything that ties into the senses as well, certain scents sights, sounds, etc.
light levels.....exposure to lots of light....or lots of dark can be detrimental to a balanced psych state
Scent is exactly the type of addition that I was looking for. I have many scents that are linked to memories or emotions. Aromatherapy probably would not be as popular if it was BS (untrue). ;)
Oh...EVERYTHING?
Anything from a thunderstorm to a slight beeze, earthquakes, temperature, darkness...
Haha, i can be a moody person...
Definitely the weather - the hotter/more humid it is, the less likely I want to get out of the air conditioning.
Some sounds irritate me, but only if they're too high/low pitched, or the volume is up to ear-bleeding levels. (Does that make me too old? Oh well....*chuckles*)
Khayman:
Caught that, did ya? lol
I would have to agree with sounds and smells.
Quite often the two are mixed with visual reactions for me anyway. No, I am not constantly tripping. Look up synesthesia.
Different combinations of sound, sight, smell or taste, even tactile input, can affect my moods.
I think I'm more effected by things I cannot see or understand. pre-feelings, like- before something bad happens I feel bad vibes, or sadness.
i am affected by many things, the sun hurts me the worst(no its not a vamp thing just becouse im on here...)its like an allegic reation from the uv rays...i am also strongly affected by smells.,certain sounds(like happy music:country, etc.)makes me hurt...dont know why on that one though lol
Storms, scents, sunlight/heat, wind, being outdoors - in nature
heheh hey requiem...heres a behavious mod for you.....pop rocks....and sour candies...
I dunno. But I do know that when it rains, i feel all gloomy and tired....
sounds images and smells deffinitely, one of the things that uset to calm me down alot was when i lives on McDill AFB we lived in a second story appartment and when a good thunderstorm came through all i had to do was look out the window over Tampa Bay and watch the lightning come down and the smell of rain and the sound that thunder makes when it gets really close relaxes me (without all the car alarms going off)
Weather, emotions around me, spirits, angels, demons, pretty much all elements of nature, colors, scents... Thats about it...
nothing effects me that i know of. everything can be explained. perhaps a chemical imbalance? lack of vitamins? etc. *shrugs*
One of my personal favorites is the friday night syndrome...
To be in a city about 8:00 on a friday night, looking out at the lights and you can just feel and smell the energy and excitement of everybody out there.
It's like an electric life you just have to get out into...
I guess you could say it's the charge of all the people and all the stuff going on.
Makes me wanna go out and have a blast every time...
the best charge i found would not be in no city, out in the woods late in night, pure darkness,running,chasing,hunting...primal
Rain changes my mood dramatically. When it rains it's less annoying becuase it's not the usual thing. Also cold weather makes me feel more aware of things like the details. And certain stages of the moon. When it is full I tend to be irritable... I can get angry easily but when it is in a cresent or something else I'm in a normal mood, I guess.
Sounds to me that many here like the negative ions in the air. Me too.
I also like it when nature gets a little extreme. Adds some kick to Life.
I think caffine and chocalate affect behaviour, so
GIVE ME SOME CHOCLATE!!!!!!
gravity, sunlight ,electrical discharges and just about everything else that makes up every atom in the universe. how could it not these are things that all life in anyform are made of. so it would be natural for a change to effect us how much depends how sensative you are to these changes.
Anything that effect any of the senses can affect behavior and thy have a theory that em pluses can do this as well as all the senses are converted into electrical signals. This would explain alot of suddent mood changes that seems to happen as our planet is fludded with em pluses and signals no matter where anyone goes.
yeah..i'd say that just about anything can change our mood/behavior. slight changes in humidity can turn me from perfectly happy to unable to move. it's not terribly magical...but it's a good thing to be aware of if you're prone to depression...
just to know that when it's especially sunny or cloudy, your mood is going to shift so that you can attribute it to the weather and not think that you're losing your mind...or attribute it to something else going on in your life that actually isn't having that strong of an effect..
I always feel comfortable in rain
*not the sit and get wet kind*
I fervently believe that various aromas have the ability to alter moods and state of minds. Certain smells have soothing properties while other have energizing ones. Scents possess powers to uplift spirits as well as relax stressed minds. Granted, there is no scientific basis at all for aromatherapy or any form of proof it does anything other than make a room smell nice , but there are some that give a form of relief for the airways when having a cold or the flu, such as most citrus-based essential oils. While there is no scientific proof that essential oils cure diseases, many people have found great success in their usage.
Sometimes science conflicts with personal belief.
ILL STOP SCREAMING WHEN U GIVE ME CHOCOLATE!(chocoholic gone homocidal)
oh and scent definatley the scent of patchouli, rain, freshly cut grass, homemade bread baking and oddly enough,, horse pooo love all these things:)
Some guy used to hover over me and ring a bell all the time.... and every time I heard that darn bell, I got the munchies like crazy. Never could figure out why...
The most widely used and oftenly most dangerous one is alchol. Your upbringing has also a huge effect... and if you add all the above mentioned.. you have a very pissed of puppy.
sorvena...that is the point of this thread.....what causes the chem imbalances...or the bio responses...
If your talking natural stuff and not chemical ... Well I would have to say that Huge Storms, thunder lightening, Rain, the whole nine yards, makes me unbelievably horny, where as if it's just a dull overcast day I will opt to spend it in bed. Bright sunny Sundays, make me want to go out the back and shoot off a few rounds on my Bow, but that's a childhood conditioning thing. On the new moon, when she's not shinning, I am always lethargic, I don't want to move, I don't want to talk and I don't want to see anyone, I am also more inclined to become sick on those days.
As for chemical .... I love Tequila, and tequila loves me to get my clothes off and jump into the next door neighbours pool ..... Rum makes my partner want to take on a mack truck while it's moving, and he seriously believes he's gonna come out on top.
Everyone is different, and our mood will also be affected via social conditions and what's going on in our home. Tricky question, but that's all I think I can answer or want to at this point in time... it''s overcast out side lol
Sheesh. I didn't know I had such an impact on people's behaviors.
Heh. ;)
i think behavoir is determined by the person, not the envoriment
Thunderstorms for me I love them there exciting and relaxing and at the same time, and give you some rage lol.
The silence that comes with snowfall. I am on the west coast of Canada, we deal with very little snow. Schools shut down with anything over 2 inches or so. With the disfunctional behaviour created by the usual lack of snow, it is like the world here shuts down when it starts snowing.
i think that the sea has something to do with our energy... for example... sit in front of the sea for 20 mins... you'll be revitalized... i dunno why!
Alilyanna, the same is true down here in south Texas.
If we get freezing rain, sleet or snow, it becomes a madhouse. Everything grinds to a screeching screaming halt, and there are TONS of accidents, because most folk just have no clue how to drive in heavy weather.
Ventrue, I have also noticed that about the ocean. I love big water. =)
The sun, the rain, thunder, wind, those all have a different effect on me. An effect on my state of being, my current emotion, or train of thought. Always.
~morgana~
i don't know what to tell....
at night ...i feel better...
:)
Definitely the amount of sunlight someone recieves since during the winter the lack of sunlight causes some sort of depression
The temperature/season can be a factor in the gender of a baby....
For me its wither the weather
i.e storms, rain, sunshine
the temperature also changs me, as im sure it does everyone
hot= irritates me
cold= im normally quiet
im sure theres more but i think everyones said them already
Definately storms, I tend to feel more heightened emotions... and I feel energised by heavy rain.
I think that the fascinating thing about this topic is that we really have no idea about yet. Maybe there is one thing which totally modifies the bahaviour of every single one of us.
Yah, I definetly agree with storms. Try being cooped up in a bus for 3hrs with a storm going on around you, talk about torture. Was feeling so energetic I wanted to jump out and run the rest of the way.
