Would you really want immortality? It may seem exciting, to live forever. But think about it. To see all who you love and care about die, while you stay the same. Could anyone deal with that?
What does everyone else think about being immortal?
I'd like that. Even though I might feel tired of it one day.
But I won't mind watching my friends and family go.
I might if I find a person I really love, then I'll probably drive myself nuts over that person's death or something like that =P
i think it would hurt to much to watch your family grow old and die
i know that i don't want immortality. death is part of life and i don't want to lose out on a part of the full show
I want immortality, more than likely it would make me a better person.
i don't think i would like to see any of my family or friends die before me
I want to be immortal... I would go around killing people, never getting bored. Loneliness is just a part of the game that you have to accept.
hehe yes and after they put you in jail till the day of your death for your crimes....what then....bodies are notoriously hard to hide
if you're immortal what would it matter if you got a life sentence, in the US thats only 99 years. You'd outlive everyone who put you in there anyway, you could just break out and no one would really care cause the case would be so old no one would remember why you were there in the first place.
Though personally I wouldn't want to be immortal, having my life extended a few years would be nice but I would like to die someday.
in a way i wud just to see how we'd advance and stuff but it would be really boring
immortality has its ups and downs. personaly i dont want to live forever. i want to die when i am destined to so i may return to Gia and have her live my life, but at the same time i want to live for a good few thousand years to be with my soul m8. but i know we will be reuntied in another life. when Gia is ready to send us back.
i would love to be immortal to live forever would be great to a point losing loved ones would be very rough but i dont want to die
I'd definetly do it. Having the centuries to study anything and everything would be perfect.
I would have immortality. I find evolution facinating. I would love to see how the world betters or worsens itself based on the human race. immortality would be wonderful. Thoughts about being bord with it never come into my mind, because i am not attached to many things. I would love enternal youth, too. I think one without the other is senseless.
without eternal youth you age slowly and can understand all aspects of life but with it you are just a spoiled brat living forever the same age never grasping the fact of growth
I would like immortality , you would outlive your family and freinds unless u gave them the dark gift .If i were immortal i would be able to perfect my art and also learn to play various instruments better than anyone before me.
I would kill anyone who would try to put me in jail... Can't you just fake your own death or something, or even better, make your whole identity disappear when becoming immortal? How would anyone know who you are then?
I am immortal, as this is not the first life I have lived, nor will it be the last...the only difference between all of them is the cast of players.....
I'd love it for awhile then i'd get bored. It's a bad thing for me to get bored HE HE HE
Well if i didn't need to eat and still lived forever it woudl be interesting to see how the world evovles and changed though it would be hard to never be with a loved one forever, and on that note I would liek teh choice to live for as long or as short as I could stand.
after a while i wouldnt like it anymore.... i get bored real easy
I would not want it, for myself, unless it could be something granted to my children upon reaching maturity.
To watch them die, to watch those I love perish while I remained young..would be too much to bear.
For My Love.. Slainbaby.
You do have the choice to live for as long or as short as you wish love. But of coarse you're speaking for longer amounts of time. =)
I would still rather not have immortality. To live forever would be as cruel punishment as murdering all those around you. You have to watch everyone fade away around you, and somehow learn to move on, even when you have nothing left.
i would not like to be immortal but then who really is immortal if your head is removed heart staked silver bulleted holy water oooopps dead ummm not immortal huh
Immortality is somthing I really do not wish to experiance
immortality can be an blessing or a curse i would it be a curse for me as seeing no end i would decend to madness
Ech... I don't realy get attached to people.
If I could live forever, and gain all the knowledge there is- learn every thing about every subject...I would gladly trade my sanity for it.
After a few thousand years, I might change my mind, though.
But nothing is ever truly immortal. In a few thousand years, the sun will blow up...
What on Earth could survive that?
I wouldn't want it unless my friends and family were able to be immortal with me. Just wouldn't be the same without my friends.
I think immortal would be fine as long as you had someone to share it with. It would get very boring after a while, and I would go mad if I was alone. With someone, it could become an adventure.
I think immortality is great,it owuldn't hurt seeing all your friends die when you have none. You cant really trust anyone. The only people I would even get close to would be other immortals to which I wouldnt be able to trust either.
Immortality would get dull and boring, but at least I know I could never die. Death isn't what I fear, it's the pain...
to observe something for over a thousand years and yet never be a part of it does not sound very pleasing to me.
Immortality might b g0od for a while.. but it can also be bad... s3ing the 1 u love die... in ur arms.. isn't the best thing..
From,
Wink
I would like it, but I know if I don't know then I couldn't come back to either correct the mistakes I made in the last lifetime to become closer to the divine.. I would be stuff never getting any where.
i would enjoy it, but after a while u might go a little crazy, and ur victims will not enjoy it
I would not mind living forever. To see the turning of time and everything that will happen to humaniy. True friends and family may die but if you think about it you always make "new" friends and hey what if people are reborn you have a chance to meet them again in a different life.
If you love someone with all your heart and don't want to risk losing them then make them immortal too.
i wound hate it cos it would be my biggest fear see every one i know and love die, leave me alone...
I would want immortality. I am ready to leave earth at anytime. I have had enough of it.
it would be intresting i'd be willing to be imortal if i could end it if i wanted
immortality make people who going crazy because the human race is not really ready for it .............................................
Has anyone ever thought of the fact we probably are immortal in a sense. It is said there are only so many souls, and with that, upon death we are reborn into a new body. So with that said, what if, we have lived forever. There have been cases of people who remember details about things in the past that they shouldn't know about, yet do.
I believe we're immortal as souls. But immortality as the commun concept, never. Crowgirl, I couldn't agree more. The only advatage I see in being immortal is the amunt of knowlage one can achive. Other than that, Immortality seems like a punishment.
immortality is a crazy idea, oki you get to do everything you ever wanted to but once youve done it all then what.. and plus i think people would notice if you just didnt age wilst they were all aging and dying. which when you think about it youd probably end up in a lab when some bright spark realises that they've lived next door to you for 70 yrs yet you dont look a day over (insert age).
plus as people have said could you really live for all that time wilst watching people that you care about die...
i actually would love to have imortality because of the fact that one it would let me see how our world progresses and well i think i would actully enjoy seein some of the things that lay ahead in our future
I wouldn't want to be immortal i believe when its our time to leave its time and nothing can change it......
I would love to be an immortal so that I could see the apocalypse. Watching the end of the world would be the highlight of my entire exsistance.
But then there is that whole watching the people you care about go old and die. Although I think that I would rather be immortal because there's always a way to die if I ever got tired of living that life.
If I were given the option, I think I'd take it. If I didnt, I'm sure I'd regret it when I was dying.
I'd like to be immortal only if I could have my soulmate by my side eternally.
I would like to be immortal. To se the ones I love happends alredy so that will be no prob for me. But the loning for them would be more hard for me. But to live for ever and se how things changes would be realy intresting.
no i wouldn't want it death is a part of the whole grand show i wouldn't want to miss the credits at the end of the movie
Think of the things you could accomplish the places you can see as an immortal. To see the world would be a truly great experience that one could not experience in just one life time.
after a while, i know that i would be bored. sure, you could live forever, but what about having to constantly move around so no one would become suspicious and having to lie all the time about who you are and where your family is and junk like that? it just seems like a huge bother/annoyance to me. then theyre's knowing that you'll be alone. for eternity. all of your family/friends/pets/enemies/ _________ (fill in blank here) would be dead while you will still look the same way that you do today. you wouldn't be able to become emotionally attached to anyone becasue how would you explain to them that you'll live forever and they'll die at age ___? (fill in ramdom number here) and after that, WHAM! you're on the move again. it's a viscious cycle.
AFTER READING 21 OF ANNE RICE'S NOVELS IV'E PONDERED THE SAME QUESTION. IV' SEEN PLENTY OF LOVED ONES & FRIENDS DIE. AND YOU NEVER REALLY GET USED TO IT. BUT I WOULD ACCEPT IMMORTALITY BECUASE I AM TOO CURIOUS ABOUT THE FUTURE.
I personally would not like to become immortal. When I had the chance to contemplate death over immortality, the sense of forever seems more frightening than a finite end.
i dont think i would like it to much i mean yell you get to live forever but if you know that you cant die what is the point or the fun in life i mean part of the fun is not knowing when you are going to die or how it is going to happen
What would the benefits be? What would be the negatives? If I could spend the time with someone I dearly loved, it would sound attractive. Also, I have a lot I want to accomplish - lots of painting to do, and there never will be enough time in this lifetime.
my soul is immortal though this body is not due to my belief in reincarnation
No immortality for me, thanks. Life's way too boring to live it for eternity.
I just have to say...
Would be interesting to see immortal people go insane... I'd like to go insane myself, although I believe that I'm already on my way to that path.
Interesting side note: My holding company, the Hubbard Genesis Corporation, is investing money in companies experimenting with the human genome.
You see, there are these end caps that are afixed to the ends of our DNA that slowly wear over time. Children who suffer from progeria, a rare congenital disorder of childhood that is characterized by rapid onset of the physical changes typical of old age, usually resulting in death before the age of 20 (Also called Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome) (ref. dictionary.com) burn through these end caps more quickly then the rest of us.
If we can discover a method to reduce the rate of the ware of these end caps we can effectively become immortal. In fact, excercise has been proven to slow the wearing of these end caps. So it is possible to decrease the rate at which we age if we eat right, excercise and take care of ourselves. But I would love to live for a few hundred years. The I would have time to do all the things I want to do. :D
i don't think i would want to be immortal in this day and age. we really have nothing to look forward to. back in the 17 century we could see humanity progressing. many inventions were still to come. but now i don't see a lot to look forward to.
immortality is the shit but what happens when all the mortals we love die and were alone what then
*addresses vladamier*
We add to our list of mortals we love.
i couldnt have imortality because i wouldnt be able to live with everyone dying that i love...
I'd go with Immortality just so that I could see that all My predictions of how the human race is digging it's own grave would be right.
Immortality... A gift. At least to me it is. I would be happy to be immortal, I am very good at handling death, and I am interested to see how the world progresses, or regresses. And believe me, immortals exist, of this I'm sure.
i would love to be immortal
watch the world fly by in the shadows
be with me immortal love forever
sounds like heaven 2 me
It would hurt to watch loved ones die but yes I would love to live forever, only if there was a way for me to die if i grew tired of living. Like, cut my head off lol.
I would love to see how the world will grow and change like the year 4001. Can you imagine the shit they will invent by then.
Well, let's see. Immortality, would be good just for the curious that like to see things evolve, change. Personally, life can be boring alot of the time, why extend it? sure you'll learn more, and possibly help change the world.
I would rather do as many things in my life as I want. Pretending to be immortal, or to be immortal would make life lose it's spice for me.
Even though I would suffer seeing loved ones die, I would want immortality. Yes, it means centuries alone but I'm better off that way...
death is but an open door it would be a shame to miss the next step
Immortality would be entertaining for a while. Since I do not have many attachments, I would be immortal
Eeh, I like it, it gives me lots of time to do stuff. The people dying thing isn't so bad, fades away after awhile, but It's the redoing stuff over again that gets a bit tedeous.
Not for me,yet I wish my mother had been
R.I.P. 8-15-1935 to 10-26-2005
Immortality would be pretty damn boring... It would be cool to see how far the world would go, in technology.
i wouldnt want to live forever i think that it would get lonely with everyone you know dieing around you while you lived forever
immortality does seem like it would b pretty awsome but i dunno...how could u just sit back and watch friends and family get sick and die and not b able to do anything about it?i just dont know
Id finally get to catch up on that nap I never seem to have time for...mmm sleep...
unless sumone is buried right next to you.then you have to deal with all the noise until its over
immortality is just a waste of time i mean i wouldnt mind if my lover was immortal too it would be great to see how things change but unless she is immortal im fine with knowing im going to die sooner or later
exactly.thats the way we are and the way we have been.why should we change now?
i would like to be immortal...but i'm not...
everybody is dying...
ALL MUST DIE !!!
I would take the option of immortality, after all it's here that I know for sure what it's about..beyond death it's all a mystery which personally I can't bother to think much about...
No, I wouldn't like inmortality. Dying is just another step... Most people waste their lives instead of living it. We should first use our life's time wisley before asking for more time
For me, immortality would represent the way of finding and learning a lot of new things , it would be the way to discover a lot of wonders, it would be the way of achieveng great knowledge... Regarding the death of the loved ones... I think that, in time, it would not represent a big deal; the death of the ones close to us affects us more only because it reminds us the WE are also mortals, that someday all it will be over and that is nothing we can do to prevent that!!!
i have an immorality complex so i would love to live forever so that i would be able to do all the things that i want to do.
people have come and gone in my life so i enjoy them for the time that i have them
enjoy the world and live it as if it was your last
I will live in Immortality in the writings that I leave behind. Other then that, I do not wish for Immortality.
to have immortality would be a curse i hate this world enough as it is i could never deal with being here forever.
If I had the chance to be immortal I would say yes. Losing friends and loved ones would be hard, but most of us will lose about half of them before we die anyway. And if you lived forever, you could always make new friends.
i'd like to be immortal only if my friend were too..... my friends all all the ppl i care about
I think immortallity would be fine if are some cold hearted, disconnected assassin or something and you enjoy other's pain.
I think I would eventually get bored if I were doomed to live forever. Beyond that, it would hurt too much to watch everyone that I knew and loved die off as I continued on.
I think it would be cool for a while but then, I think I would get bored of it and become very sad
I wouldn't mind it i can see things that change threw the years and in life times that would be so kool
None really knows about Immortality because no one has ever been immortal. So it's hard to say if I want it or not. I would have to try it first, but tha's impossible, perhaps. A part of us is immortal though. Our soul if it exists.
I don't think I couldn't live like that and see all my family and friends die.. I am to close to all of them...
Hehe I love this one!!! Ok if I was offered the chose I would take it as long as it was limited imortallity. Like vampires of tails... because to live forever would grow old and it would hard to see family and friends pass but more to know that you can never stop being. If you are limited then you can go out in the sun and be done or any other way but you can live to your hearts content. Do all the thing you want to. As long as that is a long list you will live for a long time....
Again... I don't have anything in this life that would make me want to hold onto my mortality... *shrugs* I would take the offer of immortality whole heartedly...
I think the idea of being immortal has always been betrayed as the fact that you are to live alone & unlike everyone else.
The simple fact is that if you were a vampire & immortal you wouldnt need to live alone & watch the others around you who u love & care for die as you could turn them into Immortal, there fore living a very long life doing whatever you liked for how evere long you wanted.
The only down side would be if one of the people you turned ended up being your enemy!
liveing forever seeing the world come to an end won't be so bad there are others like me out there somewere i love the tought that i will live for ever. As long as i dont go it alone hell every one needs some one right
Inmortality would be fun at first but after a while it would become boring. All your friends would be gone.
I would LOVE to be immortal!!! I think it would be the best thing ever. The best part would be seeing what happens to the world, getting to be there for all of it, and learning as I go along.
As much as watching my loved ones die would hurt I could manage. Whether I'm immortal or not I'm gonna watch people die...if I was immortal I would just have to watch more peole die. To have or be something great you always have to make sacrifices. Being immortal would be great...watching people die would be the sacrifice I would be willing to make.
As for boredom...I dont think I could get bored. Theres a whole world to have fun in! And the world would keep changing giving me more to do!
the longer you live the more chance you have of screwing up.
But also you`ll have a looot of time to repair the errors and to learn from them...
Wow, Heavy Question. Well If you look at the darkside of it, The loss of friends, family and lovers. What a metal and emotional strain. But Look at all the thing you do, all you could see all you could learn. You would always have the story right, The wisdom you pass along. Imagine telling people of how you watched the Romans march or bid fairwell to Columbus. Saw Babylon's gardens.
Just a thought....
i want to die when my time comes and not watch my friends and family die before me and know that i will stay on this earth forever
id love it but when everyone that care for ( not many people ) then i geuss i would get tired of imortality
Immortality is a good thing in my mind, though you would see all of your family and friends die it would be something you would have to accept and get over. I have very few people I would cry over if they died so i am all for it.
I WELCOME IMMORTALITY WITH OPEN ARMS...I ALREADY HAVE LOST MANY LOVED ONES...BOTH IN PEACE FROM OLD AGE TO SUICIDE AND FROM WAR...
TO LIVE ALONE IS BY CHOICE...
IMMORTALITY I WELCOME, THE ONES THAT DO NOT DESERVE THIS GIFT ARE THOSE THAT DONT CARE FOR LIFE...
Would it be ok for you not to post all in caps next time please?
Thanks.
:) STABB
Honestly, I could really use it one way or another...helps relieve whatever suffering I may have or just for something different for a change. Hell, if everyone was immortal..we wouldn't be having any wars.
