It is ASTOUNDING, it is AMAZING!
Can you imagine?
A search form to see if what you are about to post has been already repeatedly?
If what you are about to post is still open?
WOW
The Forum Search function
It's at the bottom of the page.
Try it sometime!!
Yes this is a bit of a rude way to say this but come on kids do some sort of research before posting.....
LOL Go on mslefaye!
*hurries to make sure none of her forums have already been posted.. wipes sweat off brow*
Good thread... *chuckles to herself*
I agree I see 3 of the same thread's going on sometimes at once...come on now people!! o.O
if they wanna post it again let them, some people dont have the time to look all the way through the forum.
why do such minor things bother u so much may i ask (dont message me with an answer plz)
If a thread is closed I see nothing wrong if people discuss the same topic again.I agree a lot of topics are being discussed again and again while another thread is still open. But seams a lot never saw the Search Forum botton.
The only thing that bothers me is that there's sometimes 3 of the same thread all still going at once, only one's title's a little different from the others...can't we all just post in the same forum if it's the same topic?? That makes sense to me...
Whats wrong with talking about something again. What if that person wasnt on this site when it was discussed. Does that mean we should keep them from hearing what we have to say? or from giving them information that they could use?
Very big difference between again and multiple cross posts of exactly the same thing.
Seem to recall:
Profile pimping
Profile Rating
Just to name a couple in the last week or so.
The threads were on the same subject and going on at the same time.
Whats wrong with it?
Well it is a waste of time, bandwidth, and space to actually see things that haven't been beaten to death or still are being beaten to death over and over.
Something new something interesting added to a closed thread is one thing.
Reading someone's forum that they took the time to research and the thought to put it up then changing the name and creating a new one is not only rude but near on plagiary.
Have to go to work bye now
I agree, perhaps some members are just to eager to open posts so they don't check out.. I've commented in threads that other with the same subject or similar are still open & I've dont this more then once or twice unfortunately... Perhaps the search bar should be placed on top with a disclaimer for accompy it..just a suggestion.
i think the theards that are the same should be deleted then
I am the first to say this thread is not based off my unique idea.
It has been stated seperately within threads but do think it should be explored as it's own ...
well, i dont mind it if some subjects are being discussed again but i understand the administrators point of view.
im more annoyed when the thread is in the wrong section
I think it's more of a "going all at once" thing.. no one minds having the same threads there all the time.. you can meet up with the same people.. but there should only be one active one at a time... when the first one gets rip'ed for leangth then a new one can be opened...
well maybe ppl forgot to say what they wanted to say and so they make another thread to do that
You know, there ARE about under 5000 threads right? Who the hell is going to search that many just to see if somethings already posted? Not that I don't agree with you. I agree that it IS stupid to post the thing when another is already open.
i find it interesting.. lol
i will try it sometime.. lol..
Erm...HalfBreed that's why there's the search forum botton.
All you have to do is type the topic you want to discuss about and you'll find threads were the word has been mentioned, and of course as a thread title,if in any cases the topic was ever discussed.
For example I want to see a topic where deathnitegrl was discussed(am making an example obvisouly)
just go on the search forum botton type: deathnitegrl and it gives me the threads were the topic deathnitegrl was discussed.Very simple!
Even so. Sometimes is still hard. But I just got here a while ago so don't mind me.
I have a gripe...
When someone at shadow goes and posts six threads in the space of a day, four of which are RIP and the other two moved within five minutes of an Admin coming along...
I remember when I posted 2 threads on the general box. Then they got moved to the sandbox. That's really because I didn't know how the boxes work I'm pretty new at this.
Right on. The only time it should be ok to post a repeated post is if the original is really old and it's a subject that would still make good conversation. Other then that repeats aren't cool at all.
erm..I actually do that..Wich prevents me from opening threads because many people thaught of them before *pout*
Theres no rule about NEVER repeating a thread.
the person may want to try to different angle.
Besides... the site has totaly changed since last year, and there are loads of new members. Why should we deny them discussing a good topic?
lmao *claps* I concur, I'm tired of seeing the same shit over & over
*dances* woo hoo i didnt know that *grins* good thing to know now that i can post threads
That's a good point too echo,
I think when people join they always want to start the same kind of threads over and over again (hehehe, actually, I only think this because I started threads before and heard it)

Biting: What does it mean
Stalking: What does it mean
Who's got me on their friend's list?
Things like that... things you don't really get until you experience it a bit more.
I don't see any Administrators making a fuss so why does it bother you so much Ms Lefaye? Like you said this topic has been discussed in other threads but you still started this one.
I think as long as making threads and posting on the forum is going to be a basis for the rating system, there are going to be as many problems with reposts, altho i can agree with both sides... new people may not realize how the system works, i.e ; the search buttons, etc. and may repost out of simple curiosity... but then again reposting can be annoying and doesn't neccesarily make for a good forum... I'm so conflicted.
Well danzig think I already answered your question to me:
"Whats wrong with it?

As for rules no there are not rules saying you must do this or that. Does not mean that common curtesy shoud be thrown out the window does it?
Ok, a THREAD is a multitude of posts on a subject. A POST is a reply to someones post or the beginning of a THREAD and a FORUM is a part of a message board which contains several THREADS of similar content. the Sandbox is a FORUM, any topic in there is a THREAD, and so on and so forth...
My simple comment I shall say it might come from various person in which read, thank you for the grand information and yet I do believe you act a small and childish way to have said such thing and to have named others children for they are not only adults "some" but also it leaves a bad taste for does who read how can such "mature and knowledgeable" person regard herself toward others without revising her complete thoughts.
yes many topics are reposted time and time again. If the topic had been closed for awhile, I see no harm in opening a new one to continue discussion. Some more intelligent threads should be opened. However, trying this, the result is the intelligent one gets pushed back to make way for the repeats.
No offense but we're all guilty just by replying to this, I know I put one like it up a little over a month ago.
It is more than intelligent of such person to want a continuation of some conversation and no one has such authority a side from Cancer to say something about your own decision.
I have tried it and it is very interesting. It's nice to have so we do not have to type the same thing over and over and over again. Finally maybe somebody will get a few clues....
yea i think ppl get clues from the other threads and whale if they make the subject the same but usally it isnt for the first write
Faye, I totally agree with you. In fact, I couldn't agree more!
Regarding this aspect, each and every member should take your example. Even the very smart aleck individuals should shut their trap and absorb this thread and follow it like cream on a cookie.
as for me I won't be telling people what to post on a forum seeing as how I am just another peson and it is their time to do with it as they please. If I have grown tired of reading that kind of thread then I will go on about my business none the less unharmed and no worse for the wear.
Why are we getting so picky about what other people do with their time and their thread? I thought this was a place of self expression, not name calling and self righteous bullying.
lol yayyyyyyyy Firebender...i finally understood something you posted....lol
It's more of a courtesy to those who try to keep the forums free from repetition and rubbish. It doesn't hurt to check a few sections back to see what has been done. I don't expect to everyone to do a complete forum search before posting a thread. Common sense is also helpful a times...
maybe just a little.
MsLefaye I think you are preaching to the choir. I asked why it bothers you not what was wrong with it. I haven't started a thread in th 11 months I have been here. It isn't something you or I will stop but something the Admin's will have to deal with if they feel the problem warrants it.
i am with Cadamia maybe its about the same with a different question
