I watched underworld again and thought its a great movie but the lycans are a bit disapointing to me.I think there could of been more effort put into the style and effect of them. Also having watched interview with the vampire & lostboys, what is your favourite vampire movie of all time?
i still like bram stoker's dracula the best, followed by interview with the vampyre, the hunger, nosferatu
bram stoker and then the interview i must say sadly underworld is way down the list in that film apperently the only thing a vampire can is jump unharmed from great distances and fire a gun takes the mystery out off them but thats just my opinion :-)
I like Underworld, I would think that it would be my fav. Although I do like to watch Blade, Queen of the Damned, Interview w/the Vampire, and VanHelsing
I have to agree, my favorite is definatly the Lost Boys! Though i do like alot of the others...
there are 1000's of vampire movies and everyone always picks the same 5 or 6..
what about Near Dark...or Fright Night..From Dusk Til Dawn....
I enjoyed Underworld, but with all the hype it recieved, I though it could have been better. I love Interview With A Vampire and The Lost Boys.
I actually dig the old Bela Legosi Dracula the most...back when the genre was still below the hype radar, but then again, I'm an old fart
Good point DarkWolfman. And no one ever remembers "The Addiction" It's a fantastic movie.
I must say that Underworld is not one of my favorites, but gets points by bringing up the concept of Abomination. I find that hybrid the most fascinatig creature of the movie.
I have just bought Queen of the Damned again, and I have watched Interview with a vampire, Love them both. But when it comes to Underworld, The altime even though they could have put more effort into the Lycans.
I have just bought Queen of the Damned again, and I have watched Interview with a vampire, Love them both. But when it comes to Underworld, The altime even though they could have put more effort into the Lycans.
i love underworld!!!!!! i really want to see blade (all of them) i liked Van Helsing too!
I have a few favorites Van Heilzing, Queen of the dammed, lost boys, Underworld. (sorry for spelling)
I think Underworld is a great action movie and of course Kate beckinsale is frickin *droooooool*....but a vamp movie??/ ummmm not so much...BUT if you read the concept stuff, and the storyboard sessions, it is a really nice concept...But it just can't match up to Bela, Christopher lee and the like...but then again, what can??
i actually likes the concept of the movie, underworld, but thought they could have done better, was to long and drawn out.. need to emphasize the characters better.
my favs are for newer queen of the damned and older is nosferatau.. something about the silent ones that get me.. just love them.
YAY....I knew it wasn't just your beautiful face I liked *wink*...the slient ones were soooooo much more dramatic....*sigh*...the good ol days...
i love underworld, queen of the damned and the lost boys, vampire hunter d. they are all great movies.
It would have to be embrace the vampire, just kidding (not even close to being a good movie). For real it would have to be Shadow of the Vampire.
I am a big fan of Anne Rice, but i would have to say the best story line i have seen for Vampires would have to be Dracula 2000. I love how they combined Judas's betrail of Jesus with the birth of Vampires.
I'm a huge Anne Rice fan also. So I'm gonna say Interview With The Vampire is her best Vamp movie(considering this one actually kept to the book-unlike QOTD)
Queen of the Damned, Bram Stokers Dracula, and Interview with A Vampire. I have to watch the Underworld movies yet...lol (so behind on movies)
1) Bram Stoker`s Dracula
2) Interview with the Vampire
3) Queen of the Damned
4) Dracula 2000
5) Underworld
While I have a very BIG collection of vampire related things.... and do enjoy many peoples different take on the theam.... an odd little B-MOVIE has come into my collection that I tend to watch while I am going to sleep some times. Its called "She Lives By Night" now keep in mind this is what I term a B movie. Your not going to see any amazeing special effects here.... but the story idea all be it a bit camp I do find to be a nice little romp to cuddle up in the sheets and watch.
I guess my favourite vampire movie's would be be The Lost Boys and Underworld.
Shadow of the Vampire
Nosferatu
Interview with the Vampire
Underworld
Van Helsing
I thought underworld was a nice flick, but not what I expected. It's rather an action movie, and the story is just not as intense as I hoped it would be. Plain Hollywood action, not a drama. Serves its purpose, I guess.
From Dusk Till Dawn and John Carpenter's Vampires: Los Muertos.
#1 - Bram Stokers Dracula
#2 - Interview with a Vampire
#3 - Underworld
#4 - QotD
Yes i know there are alot here who say the same but that is because these movies rock way more than John Carpenter's or other such movies...Although Lost Boys was cool.
If you get the Universal Collection of Dracula...you get some good old vampire movies...Dracula in English and Spanish.
This is a responce for Goblets last post. Yes I must agree that Interview with the Vampire was one of the best movies but, I must decline in saying that it stuck with the book. I watched the movie and then read the book and have notice many difference. all though the movie was made in the likness of the book. they were by far different. as was Queen of the damned. Marius never did create Lestat. and to this day I still don't know who created him due to the fact that i am not fortunate enough to have read all her chronicles. But one day i shall.
Don't really have a favorite, althought I will say that I have enjoyed all the Blades, Van Hellsing, Underworld, Interview with a Vampire, Bram Stokers Dracula, The Lost Boys, A Vampire in Brroklyn and Modern Vampires.
*bows to Radu* Thanks for naming subspecies. *bows to Wolfman* Fright Night was one of my favorites. A lot of great movies were named here, but did anyone remember the Forsaken. I loved that movie.
Some times not having a favorite of anything make you appreciate all the others more.
There are better movies on vampires than underworld out there.
I agree...i think people are just trying to stick with whats new hoping that they will fit in somwhere. i find the older Vampire movies with out all the digital work are far better than todays.
I think that Queen of the Damned is my fav. movie. Ive seen so many but thats the one that sticks out the most.
So do you care to explain...how exactly does that one stick out compared to the hundreds of others out there?
my fav ones are Queen of the Damnes, Van Helsing, Interview with a vampire, then Underworld . The worse vampire movie to watch is Vampire Vrs. Zombies. It apsolutley (spelling) sucked!
The lOst Boys! That's the very first VAmpire movie that I saw! And the reason why I'm in love with them!
mine would have to be interview with a vampire, underworld and queen of the damned
well i love all of them but at this moment i would say...queen of the damned...because of the music and stuff...
Interview with the Vampire is a classic, I don't think anything can compare to it. Queen of the Damned, in my opinion, is only good for its music...other then that, I think the movie is a disgrace to the beautiful book Anne Rice wrote.
I would have to agree with you on the soundtrack of the movie. But i am sure that a lot of people never read the book, so they can not even begin to compare.
I have several...
"Dracula" (1979) with Frank Langella for sheer out and out sexiness
"Bram Stoker's Dracula" for keeping true to the book
"Vlad" with Billy Zane just for the bizarreness of it (and the fact that it blended the lycan/vampire myth almost seamlessly)
"Interview with a Vmapire" because of it's opulence
The original "Dracula" with Bela Lugosi for obvious reasons
"Vamp" with Grace Jones for just plain being so over the top...lol
Has to be Interview with a vampire for me as my favorite. As for Anime Vampire Hunter D
I loved The story of marius...blood and gold was excellent. I am afraid at what they would do to that book if they were to make it into a movie. The beauty of Anne Rice's portayal Should not be Played with in such a way.
weirdly enough i'm never able to finish blood and gold...i just know a rough outline of what happens through the other books and what i've read on the net...yeah books are like usually better than the movie adaption...
in some cases the book written based on an orginal movie is better like Constantine...did i spell that right...i suck at spelling...
You must finish that book. It is a great book with a great ending. I was actually moved by the ending of the book.
cool...i'll have to push myself then...maybe i'll understand more about pandora then...
Yes you will learn quite a bit about her absents in Marius's life.
Well there is this one auther my mother introduced me to not to long ago. Her name is Name is "Christine Feehan" she uses carpathian vampires in her stories.
But i think we are going of topic and turning this into a book thread rather than a movie thread...lol
yeah...alright bakc to movies...what do you think of the lost boys? (if you've seen it and i'll check out that writer)
I wasn't to impressed with that movie. Enough said for me...lol
My favorite is dusk to dawn ( or something like that dont remember the full name of it at this time) but i also like underworld. im not that into watching movies and such like that.
Dusk Till Dawn. I thought it was a good comedy. But not quiet as good as Once Bitten with Jim Carry.
I think that Lost Boys is number one, From Dusk til Dawn, Fright Night ( the first not the second) are up there
Dracula 2000, Queen of the Damned, John Carpernters Vampires and Francisa Ford Coppelas Dracula rank at the bottom.
I have to agree that the only good think t hat QotD was good for was the soundtrack, I am listening to that now, and Coppelas Dracula did NOT follow the book at all. There was never a connection to Vlad Tepes in the book, Mina Harker did not kill Dracula, and Dracula did not turn good at the end.
There was someone else I agreed with, but I can't remember so I will comment on that later
I am quite interested in why people see The lost boys as a good movie?
Lost Boys. Oh yes. Oh where is my copy? I want to go watch it now.
Keep on movie track. Will keep open a bit longer. Beat that horse a bit longer? Ha...
I am still wating for some one to answer my question....lol
the vamps in lost boys dont care about poetry and all that, they need blood so they terrorize any one at night no one stands in their way.they are so cool and the music goes well with the movie i would put it in my top 3!
TearsOfArakiel you just mentioned the movie i was gonna mention i own it on vhs/dvd awesome well done movie gotta love annabelle ..lilly and christopher walken a well done modern black and white vampire movie its on my top ten list in the upper 5 echelon but you know so many good vamp movies so lil time to list the ones i like would not do it justice cause theres much i like and i see ppl mentioning a good many i would so with that i leave it be til i feel the need to post my list its extensive
lol@renshai for calling himself an old fart .shut up would you ? LOL

RedQueen- hell yes about the Billy Zane idea :) I love that guy.
My faves:
1) Bram Stoker`s Dracula
2) Interview with the Vampire
3) VanHelising
4) Underworld
I love Bram Stoker's Dracula most because it totally combines the romance with the ugly/evil. How loves far outweighs the visual- and it is the classic from which all others are judged...
on the side of vamp movies that were hilarious 2 come to mind almost immediately one was the one with leslie neilson dead and loving it and the other was blood and donuts haha
Bram Stoker's Dracula, the older version. And Interview with the Vampire is lovely as well.
Bram Stoker's Dracula, interview with the vampire, Eternal --only because so many do not know the story of the lovely lady, underworld,
I have yet to see many of the classics, though out of the couple of movies I've seen so far I must say that I love Bram Stoker's Dracula because of its beauty... I find it more romantic than scary, and since I'm a sucker for romance...well...yeah. *sigh*
Although the best vampire movies are the ones which are just scary, which show what vampires really are... blood drinking creatures... We all know why the hollywood vampire was created, and to be honest I do like watching those movies sometimes, but again... the classics will live on forever.
i'll tell all you people now that the best and i mean BEST vampire movies EVER have got to be "from duck till dawn" and "from dusk till dawn 2" THEY ROCK!!!!!
:)
i believe interview is one of the best vampire movies of all times. Underworld was well done and i give it two bites. hehe but interview gets ten bites.
i love interview with a vmpire.... i hink its better than queen of the damned
Interview with the Vampire, Underworld, Van Helsing, Bram Stoker´s Dracula, and this little obscure one I bought the other day , directed by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy), which also has Ron Perlman in it. The movie is called "Cronos", and I found it very poetic...
Some very important movies have been avoided.
John Carpenter's Vampires (w/ James Woods)
Bordello of Blood (w/ Dennis Miller)
Innocent Blood (w/ Anne Parillaud)
and of course,
Vamp (w/ Grace Jones)
I think I saw Fright Night in the theatre a half dozon times..
Does anyone remember this film?
It went by all these titles:
Andy Warhol's Dracula (USA)
Andy Warhol's Young Dracula
Blood for Dracula (UK)
Du sang pour Dracula (France)
Can you say buckets of blood?
My fav. vamp movie would have to be Queen of the Damned... but I loved Underworld for it's Romeo/Juliet qualities with a dark twist. The Lycans could have been much more realistic... the movie magic just wasn't there.
in answer to a question from above, Lost Boys was ok, but I was never really fond of it as I thought the vampires they portrayed were much too childish and silly...
Why was Lost Boys a good movie? First off, it is a matter of opinion. But secondly, and most importantly, it was a well acted, well written movie. It shows vampires as what they are: predators. It was scary and funny and had a good soundtrack. None of the boring shit in some of the other movies, and did what a good movie is supposed to do, leave you wanting more.
Good point, ThE LoSt BoYs is probably the best vampire movie up till it's time. The reason it's such a good movie, is because it was more real than any other before it. It showed what a real group of fiction vampiers would do if they walked the earth in todays time.
Dracula will always be a classic, but Interview was way better. Although Side fx was cheesy, it had a good story line to it.
Awww, I don't know the name of my fave! It's old... It was old already when I saw it in the mid 1970's, an old black and white movie. Portions of the story took place in a crypt, and at the end the narrator is talking as the crypt fills with water... If you know the name, please let me know so I can obtain a copy!
QOTD. 'come out, come out where ever you are.' Love it.
My fave has to be Interview with a vampire then queen of the damned and lost boys then underworld..
I thought that Queen of the Damned was a bad movie in the sense that it was to be an Anne Rice movie. They left WAY too much out. If it had bee na stand alone movie, then it might have been good, but since it was what it was, it was bad.
The Hunger....Life Force....come on ppl...there are more vampire movies then Queen of the Damned....Interview With a Vampire and Lost Boys....Lair of the White Worm....etc
I really liked Underworld, Interview with the Vampire, and Queen of the Damned
i like lost boys, queen of the damed, and a few others
i like interview with the vampire, queen of the damned... some others but those and lost boys are the main ones
i...preffer interview with a vampire...tho...i watch most of the movies with vamps so i can decide which is the best, but untill now the interview...was the best for me...
Life Force was an excellent example to me of a psy vampire, even if it was strictly of the sci/fi genre...The Hunger was also good, "Near Dark" was also a good version of the legend
Some of my favs.....
From Dusk til Dawn
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Lair of the White Worm
Fright Night
Once Bitten
Ankle Biters
John Carpenter's Vampires
Dracula 2000
This list could go on for pages and pages
Interview is the best ive seen. . . but because im into martial arts also i loved the first blade movie. . .steven dorph was an awesome villain. . .underworld was good for what it was. . the sequal looks aight. . .dracula 2000 sucked. . .QotD was fun. . .i liked the music a lot. . .lestat wasnt as cool tho. . VAN HEILSING WAS CRAP!! . . . .ehh lost boys was great but i can only watch vamps with mullets so many times before im sick of it. . .so in closing. . .Interview Rocks and i cant wait for "ultra violet" with milla jovavich
the best vampire movie of all time in my own opinion would have to be Bram Stoker's Dracula. I also like Interview with the Vampire. I own all those movies and I can actually watch those over and over again.
My favorite is Lost Boys, though there may be a tie between that and still like Bram Stoker's Dracula.
I would have to say Bram Stoker's Dracula, Underworld, From Dusk til Dawn, Blade 1 & 2, and just about any Dracula movie with Christopher Lee....those were fun, but creepy!!
Have you seen this movie, probably the only psy vamp based film I've seen
Soulstealers
My favorites :)
1: Queen Of The Damned
2: Bram Stoker's Dracula
3: Underworld
4: The Lost Boys
5: Vampire Hunter D
I'm the 7th soul...It's ominous...I'll take a better look. Interesting movie Lucious ; )
Being the big fan of Anne Rice that I am, I would have to say ne of her movies, with special regards to Queen of the Damned.
Interview with the vampire
Claudia is so adorable:P
I have to agree about the Lycans on Underworld tho
Underworld and Van Helsing are two top notch Vampire movies.
Underworld is on my list as just anotehr movie. There are better ones out there.
ok well lets see....um Bram Stokers Dracula, then interview with the vampire, Queen of the damed, and then UnderWorld. thos are my tops....there really isent a vampire movie i dont like.
there are some realy cheesy vamp movies out t here. Like one about some vamp mobsters and such. So there are horrid ones and good ones. But you know what I think are the best andworst
queen of the damed underworld is on the bottem some were
My favourite movies are the origional Dracula, and Queen of the Damned
Vampire mobsters? You mean Innocent Blood? Hey....Anne Parillaud makes one damn sexy vampire!! And what about Don Rickles as a vampire? "I want to drink your blood....you hockey puck!!" Instant Classic!!!
The lost boys!!!
Gotta hit the slow button after that flying nun coment to catch the look on the kids face, thats a trip.
