Probably this has been posed several times in the last nine years, mostly I've seen it in regard to how do you feed topics; however I am asking specifically on how you keep your mouth clean, esthetically, for health reasons, or even as ocd as vampies can be.
Do you even care?
Have you ever been concerned about another vampires oral hygiene?
How do you clean your appliances, how often do you brush, floss, mouthwash, oil pulling, go to the dentist &c
If one has bad oral hygiene, stay the hell away from me!
As for me, I'm very serious about keeping my teeth, and mouth in general, in clean working order (Growing up with a dental assistant for a mom helped...lol)
Bad breath is a good indicator. I brush and floss my teeth frequently. Not so much when I'm out and about, though. I also use home-made remedies, such as strawberries, to keep it clean and fresh. I love using the mouth, so my partner must take the initiative to keep his mouth clean - need not be sparkling white, just clean will do. The absence of rotting, falling teeth and such would be nice too. Blood stains the teeth easily and so does coffee and the like. So yeah.
I find I have trouble with teeth staining from coffee and tea, especially red wine. This is due, I think, in part to a lack of enamel coating over my teeth. There are many natural remedies for removing stains, citrus is a good natural remedy. I brush everyday to keep as much of the bacteria off as possible. Hope this helps :)
I have very English teeth so have real problems. Best thing ive found that helps is change your toothbrush on a regular basis
I thought the English teeth thing was actually a sugar thing, and a general apathy towards teeth as esthetic, or at least a different esthetic with regard to them, as with the Japanese. Is changing your tootnbrush a bacteria issue, or a hardness of the bristles issue.
Personally I've been using a rechargeable for a while now, but the biggest change to my teeth lately has come from oil pulling. Coconut oil is suposed to obsorb bacteria for up to 20 minutes, and then you spit it, into the trash, and rinse. Then brushing removes way more plaque. Swishing it between your teeth is suposed to draw bacteria out of cavities and allow cavities to heal. My teeth feel as clean as coming home from the dentist, which I haven't gone to in more years than 80% of the members here have been alive.
I eat alot of chocolate.
and that stains teeth.
So,i have a medium brissle brush,
mouthwash.. and toothpaste that removes
stains and plaque.
I floss after every meal, that
is meat. for some reason meat gets stuck in
my teeth.
ALWAYS brush your tongue people!!
Its like a sponge ..it hold everything
you eat for a few days,if you dont brush it.
If you have a white coating on your
tongue..then that will tell you,you have
food that was in your tongue that is
rotting away. Brush it out.
if its hard to,then take a tongue scraper..
and get it off that way.
VampKisses nailed it - lol.
Also...change your toothbrush every 2- 3 months.
I'll be the first to admit that my oral hygiene sucks. I brush my teeth once a day if I'm lucky and use mouthwash as needed. My problem is I have a sweet tooth.. Therefore, I have a lot of cavities and it's not very comfortable for me to brush my teeth. My PERSONAL hygiene, however, is just the opposite. I swear, sometimes I think I shower TOO much LOL. But I always look clean and I always smell damn good!
I brush and floss regularly. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease about 12 years ago and it really messes with the teeth if not taken care of.
I go to the dentist regularly, I am very lucky to have great dental insurance. It is important to me as everyone says my two best features are my eyes and smile, got to take care of my choppers!!!
Please explain how celiac affects your teeth? I haven't notiiced a difference in the last 3 years, but I wind up ingesting glutens accidentaly in less and less frequent occurances.
Are you kidding I have a clean mouth fetish.
Floss and brush three times a day and always have breath mints.
Teeth are one of the first things I notice on a woman.
Teeth and feet. If they take care of those, then they take care of everything else.
Brush twice a day,
Floss and mouth wash
Regular dental visits
And bleaching to keep em pearly white
VvvvvV
I believe in excellent oral hygiene. Sanguinarian vampirism requires one to respect and care for all Cabal.
I do to i love to keep my mouth clean im high maintence, and like to look nice everyday, even if im not going anywere, unless im sick im in pjs,
Most people talks about spiritual connections etcetera on VR, But somebody knows about the Pineal Gland and the damage that the fluoride on toothpaste and tap water do?
Pineal Gland: The pineal gland, referred to as the Third Eye, the Eye of Horus or the Seat of the Soul, is a small pine cone shaped organ inside your brain that secretes hormones like melatonin, serotonin and DMT (Dimethyltryptamine), also known as the Spirit Molecule.
I only brush twice a day, still trying to find non-fluoride toothpaste.
I heard brushing with baking soda is bad for your teeth.. However, it does make them about three shades whiter after you do it! LOL
I usually just brush my teeth once/day. I know I should do it at least twice.. when I wake up and before I go to bed. I guess that's what I'm going to start doing. I've been having a lot of problems with my teeth the past year or two. So, I need to get several pulled, get a plate and start to take better care of them. I'm going to start putting a reminder in my phone for every night to brush my teeth before I go to bed.
A dentist once said that going to bed without brushing your teeth is like giving your teeth an acid bath overnight. I'm going to force myself out of this bad habit!
Good oral hygiene is of great importance, but everyone here seems to have the right idea.
Changing toothbrushes, daily x2 brushing...and FLOSSING
Tooth Hygiene? Terrible and bloody awful...
Or do I mean Terribly awful and bloody...
Or perhaps Bloody terrible and awful...
Or perhaps Awfully terrible and Bloody ?
Its a conundrum. You decide.
I brush and use mouthwash 3 times a day (stay at home mom) lol
Cleanliness is next to godliness, and what not. I shower twice a day, and brush after each shower, as well as between meals. I use mouthwash after my morning brush, and after my evening brush before bed. I hate having traceable odor, so I use scentless toothpaste (just the essentials and no flavoring) as well as the strongest mouthwash I can find.
The condition of your gums and teeth indicates your overall health.
Personally, I am anal about it. At home I brush and floss regularly! I truly hate going to the dentist but I do have a check up and cleaning every 6 months and any work that may need to be done is addressed promptly!
I fall somewhere in between I guess. I don't over do it, I'm not anal. I don't freak out over it, and yet... yet...
It is super important to have a nice clean mouth. I hate flossing, but I do it and I brush twice a day.
I have one of those water pick things, but it sucks cause it makes me bleed.... so yeah... that's my two cents.
Great. Yes, anal is a harsh word I know , but an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure little lady, something you'll no doubt find out in time.
Well, I do brush still; (thank you.) Lawd knows what goes in my mouth - not just smoking, mind you.
Not necessarily anal (in connection to the above comments) but keeping clean as it is. ;)
I never go to the dentist, I am too lazy. The last time I saw a dentist was 14 year ago, but I still brush them and use mouth wash.
Since I. along with 100% of the people aren't Vampires on this website, I'm sure my Oral Hygiene is just as fine as those who have no interest in Vampirism.
Speaking of dentists, I need to go to one badly, but my problem is I have a fear of going to the dentist. I guess I can see a sedation dentist! They have those here, do they have those elsewhere? (Sedation Dentistry is where they knock you out while working on your teeth or sedate you.)
A few folks have mentioned fluoride. I've actually done a TON of studying regarding it so maybe I can help out.
The absolute best way to take care of your teeth is by using fluoridated toothpaste. The fluoride binds with your enamel and prevents further decay (nothing can actually reverse/rebuild the enamel). With the advent of fluoridated toothpaste, fluoride in water has become completely pointless. (see: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17333303?dopt=Abstract)
Fluoride only works while it is in physical contact with your teeth. So swallowing toothpaste (or fluoridated water, which comes out of most taps around the world) won't do anything for your teeth. Ingesting fluoride has been shown to cause a number of problems, not least of which is a decrease in IQ among young children (see: Developmental Fluoride Neurotoxicity: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis http://ehp.niehs.nih.gov/1104912/ OR http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/news/features/fluoride-childrens-health-grandjean-choi/)
There is ample evidence that fluoride protects teeth, when used appropriately. The problems come from over using it (tap water, brushing, mouthwashes, etc), especially as a child. Indeed, in 2006 the US National Research Council recommended that the fluoride levels in water be dramatically reduced.
Again, the health problems, like the alleged issues with the pituitary gland, only happen when you ingest fluoride. But brushing your teeth with it is perfectly fine (so long as you spit it out after) and it is the best way to protect your teeth short of having sealants etc. (see: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10086924)
In addition to the normal ritual of brushing and flossing I have found being highly addicted to mini nicotine lozenges helps to always have nice smelling breath.
Brushing, flossing, mouthwash and turns out blood is great for teeth v--v who knew?
Another thing would help is cut out the junk that can damage your teeth anything acidic loaded with sugar especially.
I'm pretty fussy about my teeth, I regularly brush (sometimes too regularly) and keep my toothbrush in the fridge. Horrah. No bugs in there!
The mouth can become a factory of bacteria if the proper hygiene is not follow. For me, I use a pre-brush for 30 second and then, I brush for 3 minutes in the morning after I wake up. then, after lunch I brush and then before bed. So, I assumed my hygiene is not that bad.
well i like to brush my teeth at least 2 times a day but sometimes i get ocd and i brush it all day long after i get done eating something
I lost several back teeth, due to full live steel jousting. However, otherwise i'm fine and brush at least twice a day.
Just brush and rinse I say. BTW when I'm on a date, eating, I avoid onions & garlique.
i brush the old fashond way with bakeing soda. it seems to minimize stains and hardly any cavities . i usually brush twice a day and floss seems also to not have as much plaque build up. the taste isnt that great but it works its what i grew up with.
It's gotten better from the past few years. Though I do need to get some portable brushing things if I sleep in late and forget to brush before work.
Sedation dentists? That is something I will have to look into! I've had the worst luck with oral hygiene ever since I was a child, as I was born with gingivitis. Because I was sickly throughout much of my childhood and almost died from pneumonia at fourteen (okay, that might be a stretch, but I was told I "could have" died from it - is that the same thing? lol), I've been on so many medications for so many reasons that it caused me to have a dryer mouth than normal people. Also, I had really bad asthma in my teens and early twenties and I used to sleep with my mouth open so that made me more prone to plaque issues. I also have really soft enamel and my teeth chip/break easily. Actually, it's kind of ironic that the two teeth I had recently break would be my "fangs" if I had them - which would suck for me if I were Hollywood's definition of a vamp.
Needless to say, I don't go to the dentist nearly as often as I should but I hate hate hate going to the dentist! I do brush everyday and I try to floss at least once. There are days when I do it twice. I also use mouthwash and Pronamel to help build my enamel since I'm a soda and coffee addict. :-/ I know, I'm bad lol.
I need to find a new dentist in my area. I need to find one I can get to that I can afford, and that can work around my work schedule.
Yea, that's the other thing that keeps me from going to the dentist often - it's ridiculously expensive!
I do my best, My teeth are not perfect and I cannot reverse the damage done by having a mouth crammed full of teeth. I brush regularly and floss, but still they are stained and unhealthy.
I personally brush, floss, and mouthwash. And going to the dentist for me feels like a dog getting petted. No matter what you're eating, no one wants bad breath.
I no longer have teeth, due to a drug habit I had for 2 years, but I do use mouthwash every day
