all things and creature canbe kill but since technicly vampires are undead...its kind of confusing as to say if its right or wrong but i would think it depends on the doing of the vampire not the reputation link to it

Killing is a necessary part of life/death,

Killing in my opinion happens every day, whites, blacks, male, female... it doesn't matter who is killing, all that matters is motive

If you were talking about people killing vampyres... well that would depend on motive for the killing

Nothing wrong would be a lie.
Take a look at chain reactions after,
Vengeance,revenge,karma and so on.
It is nothing wrong when one imagine
inside of brain about it for that.
I still find it as foolish matter.

in my thoughts, what vampires do is not killing, it is feeding, same as with cattle for the meat they bear, they are raised for food and are put down to be consumed, so i dont think of it as killing. just my thoughts.

I do not believe that killing has anything to do with feeding. Yes killing/death/rebirth/life is apart of that natural cycle..but in no way does feeding and killing go hand to hand..yes draining someone of there energy or a bit of there blood..I don't think we can drink that much with just a one on one sitting for some dinner..

Killing is killing no matter the killer. It is no different/should be no different than anyone else who does it. A vampire has no more justification than anyone else.

If I believed that the mythological creatures (the vampire) existed, then I would probably view the idea of their killing similar to how animals act/react; as part of their instinct and nature.

However as stated by a few people, if you are referring to living vampires; then there is no need for them to kill. So any reason that they would give to justify killing would be false.

Really what this question seems to asking people to define their moral feelings on killing. Do we allow for it as part of the natural cycle, or do we hold ourselves more to a moral ideal that nature does not follow.

Most vampires don't kill. I think I am a violent exception though. When I go through any major emotional shift, I become violent. When my grandmother died I went out and killed a fox, two rabbits, and a cat. Another time a girl kissed one of my "doners" and I killed a cat, drained the blood from it. The next day I threw the blood at her, and then the carcass.
It scares me when i get like that

Manslayer & AntiEveryone-
I, for one, agree with both of your points. As killing is a part of life and is sometimes needed for an individual's or a whole's survival. However in our society, killing seen as unjust and to do it invokes the full fury of the law........ There are two completely different parties that deem things either unlawful or needed for life. And; As so eloquently put prior, these are just opinions don't take any of it to heart.......

To the people that proclaim that it is "ok" then why aren't you doing it? celebrate your beliefs, back what you say up. Point is, we live (most of us) in societies where it is flat out unacceptable. Yes, yes we know it is "natural" but it is also natural to not shave or wipe your ass, so, yea.

I, personally, don't think that I could ever kill. However, I don't know what being a vampire entails because I am not one. If I were to become one, then I might find it necessary to kill. You will always do what is necessary to survive. It's is a basic instinct, is it not?

Yes, I am talking about your 'undead' vampire, although that's not something I entirely agree upon, but that's another thread. :-D However, to put it like most would understand, I'm not talking about a living human being that likes to drink blood. I'm talking about a predator...a being that NEEDS blood to survive. Which takes me back to the instinct to survive and thus do whatever it takes to achieve this goal.

Therefore, if it is a necessary act then I do not see anything wrong with killing. We, as humans, kill all the time to eat. How can we look down upon another being that does the same?

Well I for one eat meat.

To get that meat- an animal is killed. This is a fact.

Do I like the aspect that by my very living something else must die? No.

However I do not view vegans as escaping this moral dilemma as plants are also living, they just do not have consciousness in any way that is scientifically seen or explained.

Back to the question that Anti posted, why do I not kill if find it part of the natural order? Well I do, but in an indirect sense. I go to the market and buy my food.

In relationship to Vampires, I will again bring up what MrD said, "Any vampyre that considers that they have no choice is the victim of a mental aberration, self inflicted or brought about through acceptance of heavy cultural context. Either way, we're talking about mental illness here."

Very true that yes, eating meat requires an animal to die. BUT I am not so sure the question was about any other creature besides humans...or was it...I assumed it was about people. And if that is the case we could ask why are humans more important?...it could go on and on sometimes I am not so sure they are.We are all animals we prove that one every single day, some are just able to walk on two legs.

The vampire of myth was at the top of a food chain that included humans. It thought no more of killing a human as we would killing a cow to eat its meat. It killed to survive, nothing wrong in that.

The modern folk who have taken on the name vampire are not at the top of the food chain. I don't think there is a need to kill people to survive.

Mrd and antieveryone make a good point. Vampires who chose to kill in the present day will have to justify what they have done the same as everyone else.

Yes AE that was the point I was trying to bring up.

Why do we allow for killing as natural and make an exception for animals/plants? I too took the initial post to be in relationship to human killing, and since it really seems to be asking us a moral question, choose to expand on it.

That is the way the world works, like it or not. People have families who love them, not to say animals are not loved but...idk. Also, the human brain evolved BECAUSE of meat, without meat we would NOT be as we are today, it has been proven without a doubt that meat is what gave our brains what they needed to be able to make tools...etc, cooked meat that is...but my point is, we HAD to have it...now? I am not so sure, but it is habbitual.

So AE in being predators, we used the proteins we gained by our food to evolve. Why do we now view ourselves as above the cycle? More so, why do we perceive predators as a negative state of being?

In truth this is a redundant question, as it brings up a moral dilemma that society has been working on for centuries. It is not whether killing is right or wrong, it just is. But it is the thought process/need of the killing is that seems to allow us to justify or condemn the act as being right/wrong.

I sum up my feelings on killing with a quote, unless of course anyone wants to talk about anything ive already said.

"Thou shalt not kill out of anger, lust or evil. Yet to protect that which is important
—self, family, liberty—kill swiftly and without mercy.
If thou art not willing to do this, ye shall lose all that matters to thee."

at least have a VALID reason i suppose.

A state of mind infulenced by books and films. People see something on TV and think it's possible to do it themselves.
It's not. It also always seems to reflect on the "Gothic" community and websites like this whenever a Vampire like kiling occours, the media blame places like this for influencing it when really it's funded by millions of dollars.

Is it really funded by millions of dollars and the media, or mental illnesses that are part of our social interactions?

Obviously Vampire Rave does not kill, but should a member do so… would not the action stem from a series of events that perpetuate the illness the individual has? Or potentially even the interactions with the community that the person lives?

It is not an either or question, as it is partially instinctual as MrD’s article shows (very humorous btw) and also related to the other factors within that individual’s sphere. To separate part from the whole, we miss the full reason and thus are unable to prevent history from repeating itself.

May be the answer lies with Freud, Jung or perhaps it is around us in our everyday interactions.

To kill someone with a bite--since this can be the only way I could see someone classifying a murder as being done in a vampiric manner--is quite difficult. The victim would have to be an invalid to not have the normal reflexes to get away from someones chompers. If this is true, then the murder would be commited using weapons common to any murder. To repeat what a lot of folks say, "Murder is murder." You are going to go down for it, no matter what. Unless you are stupid enough to leave a note... "Hi, I am a vampire, and I did this. Oh yeah, I am a memeber of Vampire Rave." Come on... I don't see this happening.

Well I agree with the whole circle of life thing. I dont beleive that you have to kill someone to feed. There a plenty of people out there who will be a donor verses taking ones life. Know if its a matter of life or death or threatening ones safety then the natural thing is to protect yourself. I could not kill someone nor condone the taking of ones life unless it was absolutly necessary.

Sorry, let me add more to this note the murderer will be leaving:

"Hi, I am a vampire. I killed this person, after I drank some of their blood. Oh yeah, I am also a Vampire Rave member. Is this ok?"

My first post would have sat better if it came after the question to me about my familiarity with this type of murder. She ask if I had known any cases, where the person was bleed dry. Now, when I spoke of the biting, I ment it in the sense that someone would be drained of their blood, completely. This is something that could be considered "Vampiric." Everything else, which I am sure by your wit you know, is considered caniballism. Totally different. This isn't Canibal Rave.

The one thing that I am getting at is that criminal profilers do not lable murders as "vampiric" in nature. Hence, my satirical note from the murderer. If you commit a murder, and you drink their blood, the authorities do not classify them as a "vampire"--the media does, people like us do.

AntiEveryone summed it up nicely - murder is murder, no matter who or what commits it.
I would kill another being if my family or friends were in danger, without thinking twice.
Vampires do not have to kill a person to satisfy their thirst for blood. To me, if a Vampire were to kill one during a feed, it would be because he/she gave in to the intense desire for blood...

All carnivores need to kill to survive, we as humans do the same all the time. Think about it, every time you eat a burger or something like that, it came from an animal that was slaughtered. So why should it be so bad for a vampire to kill? They need to survive as much as we. Is it because they kill humans? What is the significance of a human, what separates us from any other animal? Not a damned thing. But I do look down upon the killing of innoncents out of spite, kill when you need to, not when you want to.

Everyone's first response to this question is Vampires kill for survival. Well that's stupid because people/vampires/humans, won't be saying that when it happens to you personally. And then only because we're at the top of the food chain. When another creature comes along who tops us, what happens then? Eveyone will change their opinion and say that it's not right to kill to survive when killing isn't necessary to feed. Besides, Feeding isn't just about how much blood you take or if you can kill your victim, it's about manipulating your victim to succumb to you. Also, what about those vampires/humans, that use "Just killing for survival" as an excuse to kill? What happens to people's/ vampire's opinions when "Vampires" CLAIM to kill for survival?

As mrd said a while back....Mental Illness plays a role in this so called vampire killings.
So saying it's ok just to kill for survival is like giving permission for mentally unstable minds to go out there and kill. I think it's just a matter of reaction to a situation. And those that think you have to have a good reason to kill...what is a good reason?
Everyone interprets everything differently, so if some random person killed someone and said his reasons was because he thought that person was following him, then to HIM that's a good reason. Get what i'm saying?

Vampires by definition are biocidal.

Chambers’ Twentieth Century Dictionary defines a vampire thus:

“An accursed body which cannot rest in the kindly earth, but nightly leaves its grave to suck the blood of sleeping men, [women, children et al].”

A rather more comprehensive definition may be found on pages 27-28 of the book The Highgate Vampire, or, indeed, within the first five chapters of a concise vampirological guide titled The Vampire Hunter’s Handbook.

It might well be a means to death, but to opt not to kill is to acknowledge the sanctity of life which is precious.

If you view it as being anything other why not choose death right now?

Still here?

You obviously value life over death.

That must mean something.

I never stated that all Vampire murderers were members of this site, if you read what I said you'd see I put that it reflects on sites such as this and on the Alternative community.
For example a while back some guy went into a school and shot some kids, they accused Marilyn Manson of driving him to it.

It's psychological.

Killing for fun is wrong but killing for food is ok.If you think About it killing is a very basic order of things. Some animals eat plants in order to get their energy. Adn other animals eat them to take get their energy. It continues like that forever. At some point there is a body that decomposes into the ground so that the plants feed off them. Killing is a necessary part of the cycle of life.

Humans should be above the basics of life. You know I can under stand the whole living of the land thing. But to murder someone is wrong. Some folks don't have a problem with it. All I can do is answer for myself.

I don't think that the life or death of a creature should be put into our hands. I think that is for a higher being to decide.

I don't like the thought of vampires killing. I think it's wrong to take someone else's life, except in extreme cases, like if they are slowly dying of some ridiculously unbearably panful diseases or something, and they want you to.

Killing...hmmm...okay, well, here's my two cents.

Killing other humans is completely wrong in every way. There is no reason or excuse for it, EVER.

As far as killing animals. The only time that killing an animal is okay, is if you are hunting for food for survival. Beyond that, in my opinion, it is the same as murdering a person. No reason, and no excuse.

I'm a PETA type person/ Peop;e eating tasty animals. God put the animals on earth to be controlled and used by MAn. We are designed to eat meat. Any other crap is just like the people that think no one should own anything. All must be allowed to enjoy. I hate people that want to put they lazy ways onto others. If you are undead you are not human. That means Humans are cattle to you. Eat drink and have fun.

I would kill if I could get away with it (humans or anybody that aggravates me)... but I can't. If I killed someone I hated (truly hated) then I wouldnt worry about it... If I killed some random person it might bug me when I think about their family and if it happened to me.

I don't like the thought of killing someone for the hell of it, but there is always a reason for it. Whether it is to feed or just for the hell of it. The ones that do it just for the hell of it are those that are actually evil. I kill to feed and that is it. I'm going hunting tonight because i am runing out of food. Some people want there to be laws against the hunting of animals. But that's retarded. If no one hunted than the population of the wildlife would exceed its capacity and they would starve. And what about the people like me who can only get their food through hunting. If hunting is banned we would starve, so essentially you would kill us.

Everyone kills things for one reason or another. Some for food others not so much. Killing is just a part of life weather you want to admit it or not. Same thing with Vampire killing. It is equil for everyone and everything. There is no way around it. I don't really see it as such a big deal that some do.

i think, if hunting/killing is in your nature, then whos gonna stop you? do what you want, humans have no say in anything they dont understand.
that includes the hunting of humans, i myself hunt, i never kill a human to satisfy my bloodlust, but i do kill when i have good reason to. say is someone figured out a way to kill you, wouldnt you kill em too?

I really think this is less about vampires killing and more about other vampires keeping secrets if they know someone has killed. Have you? Or you? Or you? Seriously, who would come up with a question like this if they didn't have a basis to ask such a question? If I know someone that was killing anyone I would first A: Get as far away from them as possible, B: Tell the authorities, and 3: I would tell the authorities.

Killing out of malice is unacceptable, but killing for survival is perfectly understandable, as is killing someone to get justice for a specific wrong. Notice I said 'specific' wrong. Not every crime has murder as a justifiable sentence, but I, as well as, many of you I'd imagine would have no problem killing someone who hurt my family or friends.

**That's a double-hinged question, depending on how you choose to think of it. In addressing the mythical or undead vampire, one could say that killing is a natural part of being a predator..and thusly the actions carried out are amoral. Such a action would be beyond classification as either good or evil, if we assume that vampires are much like wolves, lions, or other predators.**

If that were indeed true, then we would have to believe that the vampire has no more sentience than a wolf or a dog or cat. Every popular belief refutes this. Many would even have us believe they are a superior predetor than we are.

However, vampires are typically considered to be the spirits of dead human beings that are practicing a form a spiritual individuation. In this way, they could be just a conscious as you or I and have very much chosen to do what they do. So, the question then becomes..how would you feel about someone who was still alive killing otherwise innocent people to the end that they might continue living? This isn't to say that such a condition exists..but rather just a hypothetical question to address the idea that such a vampire might well be just as aware as you that the actions being carried out are, by traditional standards, immoral. The difference being, as etheric entities they are generally beyond the hand of Man's justice or judgement, and would have little reason to care about consequences.

Here we are talking about not caring of the consquences of their actions. This I also believe to be a fallacy. If they are indeed aware of their actions and the immorality of it, then I would hypothesize that no intelligent vampire would "advertise" it's existence by killing their food supply.

On the matter of living vampyres, killing is unecessary. The only reasons that a living vampyre might have to kill would be among the same reasons any other person might choose to kill. Either way, there are consequences to consider should the action of killing be justified or not. No living vampyre must kill to sustain themselves. Any vampyre that considers that they have no choice is the victim of a mental aberration, self inflicted or brought about through acceptance of heavy cultural context. Either way, we're talking about mental illness here..not a organic disposition to kill for blood or energy.

I totally agree with this assessment. Blood is too readily available by less savage means. I believe that a living vampire who kills does it for the same reason serial killers do....they are mentally unstable.

This to me goes more in keeping with ghouls or zombies. Unholy things reanimated with no thought or feeling except the need to feed. Even the vampire of folklore is given more credit than this. Let's also examine why this creature might stay close to home, so to speak. Ready food supply for one...in those times, the villages were few and far between. In these small villages, everyone knew everyone else, so how likely would it be for these creatures to feed on a stranger? It is also stated in folklore that they had to remain close to their gravesite. So, they couldn't exactly go for a stroll to the next village and back. My main point is IF vampires exist, they are sentient beings...and as such, know right from wrong. They are also good at camoflauge, able to blend in with the general populace. As a top predator, it only makes sense that this being would wish to remain hidden. Feeding would be in their nature, killing would not.

When it comes to the vampires being killed there is also no reason at all unless it is on a personal level with a certain persons

I love the people that say killing for any reason is wrong. They are the prey that Normal man will devour. Humans and all animals are made so that the strong will survive. Morals are a man made way of protecting the weak. God has had killing in the bible and says that animals are under our control. If someone attacked you and you had a gun to defend yourself and did nothing you deserve to die. Survival is breed into us since Adam and Eve. You must stqay alive to take care of your loved ones. Giving your life to protect them. Giveing your life because you are a wimp is Just plain wrong.

Well this is a loaded question, but let's see...

Vampires killing seems to be completly normal, but that is probably the Hollywood influence. Some ppl will say that to survive, a vampire must bite and drink a human, and will always kill them. Others will say that a vampire does not need to kill in order to survive. If they had to kill to live, I would think the best way to do that is by killing the ones who are guilty. I really don't know.

You think it is so atrocious because you are taught that. Not to be kindly, or humane or any such BS. But because if you had the power to kill your enemies the government would have no control. Look at that woman, Ellie, that shot the guy that molested her son. They put her in jail. Because killing is wrong? BS! She was right! If you were a real vampire you would kill. To live yes, and probably enjoy it. It's not like your food supply would be on the endangered species list!!! I don't go around killing anybody and I have children, I'm soft hearted- but I also have a brain to think for myself. Killing is not always wrong. Do I think an individual could be the judge of when? Sure they could. I bet everyone would be a lot more polite in public! And more importantly, people that prey on children wouldn't be so quick to make their sick fantasies realities if there was a chance the family was going to hunt them down and make them pay appropriately.

The only viable reason I can see for myself killing anybody would be in self defense.

When it comes to animals however, I really can't avoid meat products to begin with. I tried being vegetarian. My iron levels in my blood tanked and I was left tired and ill all the time.
Thus why super rare steak is part of my general meal time now.

I still think it's wrong to kill anything you don't have to. Always have, and I always will.
