1. I'm referring to Vampire abilities. I am intrigued with the idea that Vampires have so many special abilities. I would like to hear about any Vampire abilities, if you care to share with an example of how such abilities were or are being used. I have read of a few like flight and agility, but would love to hear your stories.

Where did you read that vampires have the power of flight? There don't seem to be many "special abilities" of vampires, since most of the claimed abilities are potentially learnable for anyone...

are you talking about real vampires or fictional vampires?

On a sight I found about Vampire Mythology, It might not be correct but my point is that I know it is said Vampires do possess special abilities I would just love to hear of personal stories and how they use them. Which ones they might have or do they possess all of them?

I'm going to leave that open for both just to hear the thoughts every individual real or fiction Vampire has. I think they would both be very interesting.

According to Hollywood, Vampires / Vampyres can fly and... Oh yes, shape-change into bats! Not to mention the lust factor which apparently can get you anyone you so desire.

In the real world, there are a few thing that are different about Us than the soc. acceptable norm.

We heal much faster than others.
Some of Us have hightened vision, hearing or physical ability in general.
We all share a thread of Life that is within Us all.

Some "normal' people have amazing vision and hearing...and what not, I suppose one could argue. Or perhaps they are just still "in the coffin"? lol

Well, fictional vampires are more interesting if you're only looking for superficial traits like "special abilities", but unfortunately, that's not my forte. I'm more interested in real vampirism, which while much more interesting in a spiritual sense, isn't quite as dramatic and entertaining as the myths...

I truly want to hear about both myth and real Vampires abilities. I'm really curious and I guess in a way hope to hear something different and out of the ordinary so that I can seperate a non Vamp and a real one. And I want to hear the myth Vamps because that shows me what abilities they wish they possessed as I would.

But we talk about it so often here that it has lost a substantial amount of novelty. Superficial or not, that is a part of what one meaning of the word is and even was before anyone started making such proclamations about their own "vampirism".....reality gets boring.

There are other abilities due to empathy. It is the key to getting what you want out of someone. Empathy is the way to udnerstand the persons needs, and a true vampire will deliver what the person requests because they care enough to have understood the processes of life to fill their need.

Empathy is integral to using someone right, for mutual benefit. What is the term a host and ....

I dunno, that is the niche.

Do not underestimate empathy, it may be the key to all the other powers.

said "vampires" are people too, no better than anyone else, just different. No more special worthy abilities than another, just different ones. Just thought id try to clear that up. Its a high expectation for anyone to live up to.

Empathy and telepathy often go hand-in-hand, but the latter is often much harder to develop. I wouldn't say vampires have any special powers, but on the average, they tend to be more spiritually developed than non-vampiric people, and so their natural talents stand out and can be developed more easily.

Hypnosis is a fun but karmically dangerous power to abuse.

Thats wild...I am not a Vampire but from I read on the threads I have so many of the traits. I can't help but wonder. If I could do anything I would want to be able to fly and perhaps move in such a stealth way that I would never be noticed.

Special abilities...
Flight - A vampire can fly at will, and can reach any altitudes within normal tolerances. That is, no going into space or other such nonsense. Fligt speed varies, but top speed averages around 100mph.
Stealth - A vampire can be almost invisible if he or she so chooses, by hiding in the shadows and being totally silent. They can also move very fast on the ground without making a sound.
Strength - Vampires posess superhuman strength. An average vampire can lift over a half ton with little or no difficulty. When enraged, lifting or moving something even over a ton is no problem due to the adrenelin rush.
Agility - Vampires are as quick and agile as ferrits or cats, being able to turn on a dime while moving at great speed, and making incredible leaps both running and standing.
Intelligence - A vampire has a photographic memory, and once he or she learns something, it is there to stay. Many of the great inventors and scholars were actually vampires.


This is what I was reading, it may incorrect or only myth but it appealed to me and made me wonder if real vamps have these abilities and when or do they use them

Well i think that most of our beliefs today are from hollywood, wwe tend to base our assuptions on that. We need to be what ever we want to be whatever powers we choose to have are ours and used to our benefits, not for the world to make a movie about

I don't attribute my "special abilities" to being a vampire, considering different members of my family also have "special abilities" of their own.

I do have certain things though, some of which include: empathy, heightened night vision, and quicker reflexes then other people I know.

Like I said though, I don't necessarily attribute that to being a vampire...

I fully concur with the previous few posters here: claiming to have the special abilities of the completely fictional vampire of pulp fiction and Hollywood, including the "need" to feed off others, is ludicrous and, particularly for those less psychologically stable, potentially dangerous and destructive to themselves and others.

And as the claim to immortality is as inherent to the fictional portrayal of "vampires" as is blood drinking, why don't you find modern blood-drinkers here claiming to also be immortal? And if not immortal, needing blood only to live (as goes the Stoker fiction), then the whole blood-drinking practice by mortals is revealed for the pointless, desperate-for-attention, eccentric affectation that it is.

Well, here is my piece on this....

I dont "think I am a vampire" or "pretend to be" one. I can do some things, such as empathy and "being unnoticed". That is not invisibility, it is simply a matter of tricking someone's mind into thinking more about the objects around you than about you. Like a big game of hide and seek, only you are right there. It is more of a psychology thing, or something that you can learn, in my opinion. I DO enjoy the taste of blood, though I do not NEED it.

Hollywood has cheapened the idea of the vampire, though I feel that it is a real concept, in a mythical fashion. That is my opinion. I do not think I can fly or turn into a bat, I am not immortal. I simply studied some psychology in school, and tend to be good at reading people. I LEARNED to do those things.

Yes, they are special abilities, but I do not think they are "superpowers". I think that anyone that honestly wanted to learn it could. I also believe that sometimes people lack the words to describe themselves, therefore they use the term "vampire" as a generic out for thinking.

I take back my thought that evil cannot make the trip I am currently finalizing. As long as evil has one good eye open and one good ear then they can pick up on the messages I recieved through the receiving enlightenment process.

However, you must be a great physical specimen, and fear must be a tool, it must be an ally. What I just went through was devestating. I felt for sure that I was doomed, but in my head I held the memory of 2 summers of reclaiming the body back to get to a point where I knew with a blood pressure of 90/70 I was not going to get a stroke, even though my head felt like a double end back used for boxing training.

The passion and withdrawl of the quest was caused by, precociousness, early latent abilities, confusion by wortld travel at an early age, and the usual loss of faith in the marriage system when mother left me. I was back on the horse again when I moved and the new kid in town phenomena scored me my first love, and then I began to live for real, I guess as a little bit of a show off, raising the hand in class, trying to learn things to attract a girl, to feign being smart. Of course love never lasts, and I was down for exactly 13 years until I met love again.

Power of abilities is something that must be adhered to with discipline even in the downtime. Life is too short to not to be curious about it.

But to be told the way is wrong. One must take the path according to their interests, and in the end every bit of power gained through knwoledge attainment does prove useful. Lately I have even doen some yoga while I was cycling up and down in the Reiki techniques, because it appeared that the nerve transmission were stuck somehow, so I did a quick stretch one way and then the other, to free the energy.

The mathematical concept of the exponent where 2 squared is 4 and 2 cubed is 8, brings out this nuance. You are only adding one to the exponent value and yet you are getting more results with the power increase, it is on the level of the factorials you remember studying. This is how knowledge grows, and people knowledge is power, because it is the thing that makes you survive and able to adapt when your hands are tied and the chit has hit the fan and you have to do a MacGuyver. Moreover, I believe the ability to take criticism is very important. Other people function to make us aware of our faults, and then if we recognize our flaws ... if we turn them into strengths, then we can move on to gain more power.

I was watching defending your life last night, and they had a court case whether the main character astually ever changed his ways in life, whether he ever adapted, whether he turned on his fear, and got to a better form of existence.

We can turn fears into strength, and something I think may also be important in gaining powers, is accepting the parts about us we cannot change - at the moment, the things in life we cannot change for now.

We may be able to enter a stage later on in life where we are more prepared to assemble all the pieces life supprts us with to construct the pyrmaid of knowledge to finally love ourselves and service mankind.

one things that can said about real vampires and those that just say they are for the effects, both have a strangely high sense of emotions. anger is one, vampirics are more angry than the normal person, they feel pain more so than most, dissapointment and resentment seem to fill the heart of some, for me, its anger, lust and wanting to belong for who I am. that last one is something that kind of puts us in the same group. we want to belong but we want to be individuals no matter the cost. and so this creates more pain to dwell on and that in turn makes us angry and with all these emotions, tension and emotions run high. I dont really know anyone that has SUPER abilities, but i know of people that have sensitivity to light, nothing pretenatural there, people that heal quickly or are very, almost freakishly agile, though there are many people like that, and i know one kid that seems to be able to dissapear into a crowd or even a room. he'll walk in and BAM, he's gone until he moves or gives himself away. its actually really cool and wierd. but mostly its a play on senses and trust in sight. but NEwho...yeah, thats the main things I've seen

Well my "abilites/gifts" from what I have experienced so fare is that I can read people very well. I have been able to have experiences with the spirit world. Im very sensitive with the use of energy.
I dont proclaim to be be a vampire but more practice my spiritual Native beleifs.

Wouldn't many of us just love the Hollywood vampire abilities? I know I would! People, be they vampires or not, have their own umique gifts. I do not think you can categorize all 'real' vampires with specific abilities/powers.

I think we are all born with the potential to have many different abilities and it is up to us to develop and hone those abilities. I do not bleieve in the mythical abilities of flight or physical transofrmation into other creatures. I do however believe that people can potentially move things with their minds (telekinisis){I have seen it done} and "read" others extremely well. I even think perhaps the ability to predict the future to some degree is around.
Ulitimately, it is the abilities that we are born with that we can develop....not vampire ones.

I think I said something to this fact in another thread. If I have any abilites, they are secondary--not a result of--to my vampirism. I have empathic and psychic abilites (Studied and noted), therefore I am a Vampire, psychic, and empath. See how I seperate them?

lol what I have learned is that abilities just come without willing them to come. They don't take much thought they just happen, anytime or any day, I never know.

My what some would call abilities i call a knowing came very slowly over time. They started very young with having intrests in people that had already had them then as got got older other things started happening like seeing my guide which freaked the hell out of me so my "ablilities" faded back a bit that was my 20s still reading everything i could get my hands on. In my 30s is when all the shit hit the fan after my best friend died that opened me up to talking to the dead.
Also seeing the ones that were to die . Now its so much father then that i have been givin the healing power and some powers i will not use. My point is they were givin to me slowly so i could get use to them and would not hide from them or think i was a total nut case. I can wait till i see whats next everyday is so exciting.

in the real world I think we all posess our own little qualities. i myself feel as if i have a little hightened hearing and my vision and senses are more alert if tha counts. but no matter how much we wish to shapeshift or fly noone but the fictional vampires can do that.

I am what you would call an energy vamp

It's been said that all vampires possess every power and that they just have to tap into it. However I like to think that each vampire has their own special gift.

i believe itwould be great to have hieghtned speed and strength as abilities as well

I can feel and drawn upon the energy of people. I can feel the vibes of others, not really sure if it's because of being a Vampire.

I am by no means a blood drinker, but I have been blessed with gifts. Not gifts such as flight, or stealth movement, but gifts such as, empathy, clairvoyance, clairaudiance, cognativity, and such.... I dont usually put those such things about myself in thread because they tend to become bashed at some point, but in this thread I felt it was appropriate.

When I look at the mythological vampire I see many traits that they posses, one being the lust factor and they are suppose to be beautiful.. to me all that is is sexual magick which is a very real thing even today. lol. Most people can preform sexual magick and not even be aware of it. lol.

The ability to move so fast the human eye misses it has been mentioned a few times, and the ability of flight as well. I have begun to run out of time so I didnt get to read all the posts so pardon me if this is a total repeat, but I find the ability to live forever and not change an interesting trait. Its not an ability so to say with these beings, but a characteristic beyond their control. Can you imagine never ageing in your appearance? So many of us, especially women, seek that everyday in age defying beauty supplies. lol. I just thought I would throw that out there. Not sure if it is of massive relevence to anyone, but I personally find that interesting. lol.

In reality, everyone has unique and special abilities..and that certainly doesn't make them a vampire lol.

Some have a better understanding of the human mind, as in psychic abilities.

Some are blessed with the ability to use the dark of night as a blanket to conceal there movements.

Others tend to have a greater presence about them.So depsite they may be skinny,weigh 120 and look like the average muscle man could take them down..if a situation would come up, the attackers of greater size would think twice.

Believe in their speed and the ability to see things much clearer then a human would but I don't believe in their flight..possible mind reading for some.

I, myself, believe in heightened vision(day or night), faster healing, stealth, strength, and agility. I say that because I possess these, some more than others, both consciously and subconsciously. I have excellent night vision and am able to see things during the day that others have to focus on or strain to see. I can walk on some surfaces with barely making a sound, and I have done things, like lift something or move something from point A to point B with a considerable distance in between, that have caused my to be amazed because of the little effort that I put into the task. You can believe what you will about this post, but to each his own and our own is really all that matters when it comes to events such as these.

I have a few friends who are amazingly intuitive. I don't believe intuition is just a vampire trait, many people I know are intuative, but it seems the ones who are practicing vampires have a heightened sense.

This thread is a great avenue just to show how many of us are trying to grow in our abilities. I would like to echo those who have said that our senses tend to be more acute. Albeit a double edged sword i.e. more exhilaration, more pain.

I hope your talking about non-fictional vampires. I dont think real vampires actually fly o rhave extra strength.

I am a Goth. All my life I have had times of clairvoyency and I have super sharp intuition.

I do not attribute my abilities to being a vampire. Special abilities can be posesed by any one. I never boast about them because some times i think that they are a curse.

Well, other than stuff like strength, speed and hearing, vampires can also change into animals or mist (if you believe the old myths). They can put people under a trance, read minds, live forever (duh), and fly.

The abilities you seek appear only in literature and Hollywood. They can bring great enjoyment

Other than that the "abilitiies" do not exist

I have a strong connection to animals, I also have extremly good hearing, hearing things others can't such as the dead speaking.

I find that I have a better way with people, understanding them, almost to the point of knowing there thoughts at times. I hear very well and I also exceed very well at Reiki and my magical endevours.

I can smell thing's really good but I don't know if that id becaues of being a vamp but as I have come into me I have been able to smell better and hear.....but that is just me

I know firsthand of the stealth and memory abilities, as I have a highly 'photographic' memory, and can somehow sneak up on anybody, at any time- even being 6'2" and 170 lbs! As far a mythilogical powers, I'd like to add to the person who said that hollywood vamps can shapeshift into bats. According to origional vampire legends, they can change into various animals, including dogs, wolves, birds (such as a raven, etc) and even a shadow-like cloud.

I too have an extremely acute sense of smell. When my SOs menstruate the scent drives me absolutely WILD. I am quite a bit stronger than I look, too. This is remarkable in the fact that I have a very sedentary lifestyle right now and dont work out or anything.

Most of my abilites are foreknowledge and perception. I think many non-vampires tend to take their abilities lightly. Just a thought.

From what I've picked up, vampires have, but are not limited to, the following abilities: higher reaction speeds, and speeds in general, greater hearing, better sight, greater physical strength, better foresight abilities, increased sense of energies and magics around them, and so on and so forth.

I can read people well usually, especially if they are in pain. My best friends, I will know when something is wrong and do my best to help. (Usually getting yelled at to "Get out of my head!!)

i am a pysch vamp, i feed off of peoples enery instead of blood. dont get me wrong i enjoy the taste of blood, but i dont have to have it to survive.

I have really good hearing....I can hear extremely high pitched sounds, like the buzzing that comes from the computer...I can hear it. That is why, usually, I turn music on, or something. It doesn't hurt my ears, but for long periods of time, I get a headache. But yes, I am a vampire, and I have a few "abilities" like my hearing, and sometimes, I don't know my own strength. Mind you, I don't walk around picking up cars or anything!!! I'm not that strong....but I can lift certain usually heavy items when I put my mind to it. (I am not in any sort of weight training class)

I don't like to be too personal in how I am or what I can do. But the one thing I am sure many can relate to is Empathy. The ability to feel what another is feeling sometimes even thinking at that exact moment.

I was born as part werewolf, and I was bitten a few years ago by this guy who claimed to be vamp. After that, I was able to hear a lot better, and I could hear good from the beginning. I could not sleep at night. I even occasionally cut myself and watched the blood drizzle out of the wound....Is that anywhere close to the subject?

well most psy vampires are empathic to a degree. i myself am extremly empathic and it can be a curse at times. when my neighbors father died i spent days crying for no reason.

Although I am not going to attribute my "special abilities" to being a vampire. I would say that I have the ability of precognition (only in a dream state), regeneration (to the point at which modern day science/medice can't understand it), and heightened sense of hearing (IE - dog hearing).

Vampires have the potential to do anything they want to, simple as that. Anything is possible, after all :)

I have a very small ability of precognition

I have good eyesight and reflexes

I have dreams of the past and dreams of the future. I experience deja vu (I dream of things before they happen, so when they do happen, I already have memories of them, which really screws me up sometimes :) When talking to people, if they are being too cryptic, it is like I pick up on what they are thinking instead and can answer questions they didn't ask outloud. heh, it is even better when they are lying to me and I can turn around and say, 'no you weren't, you were at so and so's house, so don't lie to me', or whatever, something like that :) I'm pretty in tune to peoples emotions and thoughts and that is pretty handy.

the powers vampires myth or not varies from country to country, time to time, story to story, and Movie to Movie. they change like the weather.

I do know about mine however !

When i concentrate i have had the ability to push people into doing what i want them to do.

When ever i would play a game of chess i used to win games by mentally pushing my opponent into making the move i wanted them to.

i never mastered this ability because i never had a need for it. it was just something that i discovered that i could do.

Is manipulation a special ability? Not saying that's what you're doing! Just that it seems more like control to me...
