I see many people refer to the terms "psy" or "psychic" vampyre on this site.

My understanding from Church of Satan teachings is that this is wholly one who leaches on anothers mental inneptitude , lack of self esteem & more so , vulnerability.

Could people define the term more precisely in their own terms & maybe tell us why/how a Non-Blood-drinker can be considered in the same descriptional term as a "Blood-drinker" ?

I am a Psy vamp Lestat and there are ethic's to all things. I am not a leach I fed from the energies of others yes but it is asked for. Vampire codex covers the ethic's of this form of feeding.

I am sure there are people out there that don't ask but I don' think this is due to a lack of self esteem in anyway many have no idea what they are yet those that do simply believe they don't have to ask. Some even create a some turmoil withothers and feed of this I personally don't find this ethical but it is what they do.

Feeding whether from blood or from energy is always tricky, many factors have to be taken in.

A Psy vampire is not one who leeches off ones emotions. They take energy. Have you ever been around someone and they seem tired, and then out of no where you are tired and they are energized?

There are different types of Psy vamp.... Unintentional and intentional..... Unintentional spy vamps have no idea they are doing it, and can be fatal to someone. Intentional psy vamps.. well thats pretty self explanitory. There is a book on Vampires that I own and it gives a good explanation on this all, and I have given only a brief cliff notes explanation. I will look for the book and then come back and post the title of it for you. The explanation I gave is the small base on what this book will tell you. :)

Thankyou both ... but you seem to both profess to be "psy vampires" .. admittedly you can call youselves whatever you want ... i have no problem with that but why use the term "vampyre" ?

Would or could there not be something more fitting to such supposed "feeding" in todays society ?

I do not see it as "vampirism" more a mind belief & taking energy from the weak minded or vulnerable.

I for one do not take energy unless I need it. Even then I do not take it from anyone that is not aware and have given me the okay. I proclaim to be what I am because that is what someone labled it. Is it Vampirism? Who knows, but someone decided to name it that.

Nicely put, Mikhail :)

I'm one of those that take energy of others.. both intentionally and unintentionally... some prefer blood and others do not but 'feed' like our brethern the sangs do but just in another fashion.

So is that to say energy gives you calories ... vitamins ... keeps your internal organs in good health & could possibly expand your waist size with over-feeding ?

Of course it exists. But a psy vampire is not a vampire in the traditional sense. In fact, in my experience, psy vampirism can be cured.

But then, I am sure to draw LOTS of fire for that statement.

I agree with Imagesinwords.... it doesnt make anyone any different, just as claiming to be any sort of vampire doesnt. Lestat you yourself could be considered a psy vamp and not even know it. As I said previously, I claim the title simply because that is what someone chose to call it. *shrugs* It in the end doesnt matter what we are labled.

IIf you asked anyone that knows me they would be roling ob the floor laughing at that statement ... I follow the Church of Satan ... I do not agree with the term ... but maybe energy leeches would be more appropriate for the CoS way of teaching, (that is not meant to be derogatory ... rather a term for someone that professes to gain from the weak.)

You are entitled to your opinon. Just as I am mine. I didnt create the term. I didnt make the rules nor was I the one with the desire to know. I do not go around saying to everyone ohhhhh look at me see what I can do to you..... nothing of that nature, and as I said, I only take from those who give me permission and in small doses and only when it is absolutley a need to me.

Yes, psychic vampires do exist. I am a psychic vampire. I drain energy from others. Unfortunately, unlike Mikhail I haven't learned to control this enough to ask for permission to do it, as of yet. My ability is on such a level that I can be in a room of individuals and drain their energy by simply standing in the room. I don't even require physical contact. I don't believe there is a difference between this and blood drinking vampires because the blood only acts as a medium through which that same energy is passed. However, this is simply my theory on the subject.

I'm partial to the 'leech' definition because I've known quite a few people that leech off others' emotions and/or energy. "Vampire" seems to be the natural way to describe them, at least for me. Obviously, I don't mean it as a compliment (for those people, anyway) at all.

Not trying to offend anyone who considers themselves psy-vamps. Like many abstract concepts, I think this one is open to individual interpretation. Mine is admittedly negative, but I'll accept anyone else's as equally valid.

From the above discussion, I have to agree with many. I believe that there are psy vampires who draw on energy and they are no different than any who would drink blood.

the term leech off of the weak, i have a problem with. there are plenty readily give energy away (knowing or unknowingly) because they cannot control it. there is also the idea of an agreeable donor. just because someone is willing to go through it does not make them weak.

my question is, if you have trouble believe in psy vampires, do you believe in sang ones? because fundamentally the same thing occurs...

Furthermore... if a person is exuding energy and there is a tired person in the corner and suddenly it is reversed, the energetic one is pushing their own energy out of them and perhaps it is anyone who is near that by chance internalizes it so that the enery is merely converted... not stolen.

Not wishing to quote STABB666 .. but I take it your basis is that a vampyre feeds on anothers labour ?

Does this include gaining recognition for work others have done ? Feeding from "energy" of the weaker being ? Or indeed the "Robin Hood Theory " ... stealing from the rich to ones own gains ?

Sounds despicable to me ... but still we await others thoughts.

I think you are still missing the point of donors. If there is a person that has plenty and doesnt mind to share, what is there horrid about that? Would you find it to be the same if it were blood?

hx,

Let me start by asserting my own position that I don't believe that you are a genuine individual, but are, in fact, one of those 'emotional vampires', or 'leeches' of which you speak.

Moving on to little lestat,

I would say that you are paraphrasing me, but who am I to quibble of a little proper English?

But as to your meagre point, yes, taking credit from others achievements is despicable and is the core of the law against plagerism- even so, it is seen as a form of social vampirism, in an alternate definition of the word.

But you still wish to maintain the image of a stronger or perhaps, more powerful being, to your mind, taking to preying upon a weaker indivudual.

Whilst this accentuates the Dom/Sub aspect of energy exchange, it is hardly the limit of possibilites.

Have you never considered that perhaps a being who is 'stronger', with an energy surplus, could be capable of 'donating' their own energy freely?

To Stabb - I don't think you're correct in your evaluation of me...but I'm willing to entertain the notion that maybe I'm a leech without knowing it.

But what I'm wondering is, how could you possibly know that? I know myself just about infinitely better than you know me - yet you've divined something about me I didn't know about myself? Remarkable!

But I'll keep an open mind. Except for one point: I assure you, i am indeed a "genuine individual."

STABB666 ... yes I actually admitted to not quoting your actual post ... it is there for all to see ....

But my question still remains unanswered .... why the term "Vampyre" for such beings ? Is that not trying to make what they are ("PSY VAMPS") more glamourous than they would otherwise be seen?

A leech of enrgy of the weak also wishing to leech a term from the strong ?

Stabb - Whilst I'd like to acknowledge the possibility of any possible relationship, there is little doubt that most energy vampires feel that they are the ones in control of a situation like feeding and that they are often quoted as being 'more evolved', 'stronger' or 'more developed' as a being. So I don't think that most energy vampires look at themselves as the 'weaker' party in a feeding even though it may in fact be the case.

Felix, I dont agree. I myself do not think of myself to be any better or stronger then anyone else. Just because I upon occasion take a bit of energy from a person that is willing to give it to me, does by no means make me feel in charge of the situation. In my eyes it makes me feel weaker. If I werent then why would I be in need of the energy to begin with.

I stand corrected in your example then, though as I said, I think the majority of energy vamps might disagree with you.

One merely has to look at the abundance of threads on 'evolutionary theories' or 'is the vampire the master' or any number of statements and posts that play out a more egocentric view of their vampiric nature than yours.

interesting point - could it not be that lying, sneaking, disguising oneself - might be traits of the leech-type vampire? By that I mean, wouldn't I be better able to suck what I need from my victim (emotion/energy) if I'm deceitful? So if I claim NOT to be a leech, doesn't that make it more likely that I am?

I agree with Darkestdesires. We are all here for knowledge and growth and to help one another achieve it. This thread has gotten a bit heated. Can we not all get along as brothers and sisters or cousins for that matter. In the end does it really matter if someone is a psy or not? Does that mean that someone would be discriminative and not wish to know that person? I do hope not. That would take away from the point of this site and what it is being gifted to us for.

Stabb I do so love your posts! :)

While today stabb's definition re: the general nature of the modern concept of "vampirism" is largely accurate, yet what is called "vampiric" today was not so considered in the Slavic countries when first the term was coined, defined, and used in the 11th Century, and for several centuries thereafter. Nor, as I have stated in other threads here, was psy-vampirism ever recounted in Slavic folklore. In fact, I am unable to find any coining of the term prior to the 20th Century.

As primary historical sources are so important when attempting to map a term's true provenance and, thereby, best determine its actual cultural context and its definition therein, might anyone here be able to provide for us the first historical mention(s) of psy-vampirism?

Everyone here seems to think that a need to feed is somehow a weakness. I think you are seriously underrating yourselves. I'm pretty sure that everyone here feeds off something or another. Just this morning, I had breakfast. Bacon and eggs. I don't think I'm weak for doing it. And I don't think the pig or the chicken is the 'stronger' person in this relationship just because I'm depending on them for the energy needed to run my body. If you want to compare psi-vamps to suckling infants dependent on their 'donors' to feed them, that's your business, but from what I've seen of them, this is usually not the case.

UpirLikhyj,

I can only barely see the relevance of your post, but never the less, it does seem apparent that if energy feeders, or however one wishes to label them, are not viewed as a genuine aspect of the vampyric nature, then they can hardly be ascribed to be one and the same as a blood-drinking 'traditional'.

But does the historical longevity of a name have any greater influence upon a culture, than does popular modernism?

Everything stabb says is absolutly ingunius and foolish to even question...

On the side note of the "weakness" of feeders... although i do agree with you that the preditor is superior to the prey... the NEED to feed is a weakness... creature that never have to feed would be at an Extreme advantage... but a creature that doesnt need to feed would likly be devine... such as a angel.

I must confess that I got a little lost halfway down the thread. So I'm going to add my bit to the "how can the psy people call themselves vampires?" point.

I love vampire mythology, its what I do.

If was to take a really narrow view I would study just those beings who came from the Slavic countries around the 18th century.

I don't take this view - that would be like studying very old 'pots' and ignoring every such article from Greece simply because they called them 'urns'

I struggled to define what I would call a vampire, I ended up with:

A mythological being who feed in some manner off humans.

I didn't care if the ate blood, energy, intestines, human grave dirt, toes ....

I quickly make the point that is they target only humans for feeding, they don't just get humans caught up in a feeding frenzy (like a man-eating tiger or cannibals)

I respect very much those (non myth) people who chose to use the term in the present day

They say that they feed off human energy, that falls inside my humble definition.

People only construe it as a weakness if one feeds on donors thereby hampering their own ability correct?

I mean if the idea of someone being able to 'feed' at their desire on a populace that can neither defend against it or even know that it's happening isn't a strength than I need to go back to school...though if most people don't know their being fed on, then i guess it's hardly even happening so we're not talking about an attack.

Needing to feed on anything is only a weakness if the food source is hard to come by...just like breathing air is only a weakness when your underwater.

Felix,

Perhaps this is where the ethical conundrums cause the weakness?

Uncertainty over the morality of taking from another, even in dire need, can lead to a difficult state of mind, which leaves the individual less capable of obtaining the desire/need and thus, left in a state of anxiety and further increasing need.

Stabb,

The relevance of historical origins is paramount to this entire discussion re: whether or not psy-vampires actually exist. If psy-vampires are real, then history should contain examples of their existence. Hence, my question.

What seems truly irrelevant to this question is attempting to have seem relevant to this issue modern fiction's cultural influence. In fact, if an entity can only find precedent in fiction, then the entity itself is, by definition, fictitious. Thus, unless someone can find historical precedent for psy-vampirism outside the context of fiction, the answer to the question re: whether psy-vampires exist must be a resounding "no".

I hope now that the relevance of actual historical evidences over fiction's influences on modern culture is more than just "barely see(n)."

"barely see(n)" here is the relevance of viewing equating cultural significance of myth with the question of such a myth's actual corporeal reality.

Okay so heres where my mind is at this point. lol. Psy vamps dont have to be sitting next to you to feed on you, there is the option of astral.. I will say that there was one time that I was sick.. very sick.. and very weak.. one of my friends on this site saw and literally begged me to feed off him.... (I am stubborn and do not want to feed unless I have to) So it got to the point where I finally gave in and that person can post in this thread the honest affects it had upon him... Now, most can say well its psycological, BUT when the person had no clue when I was going to do it, and then when I waited an hour to do it and they came to me in IM and said you just did it didnt you... that to me says its not so psycological..... The term is nothing more then the fact it is relevent of feeding off of humans... hence forth the term Psy Vamp was born. I know what I do, and it honestly doesnt bother me who or who does not believe me. lol. I am not going to get all bent out of shape because there are people in the world that just cant understand that somethings in life are not logical, scientific, or even meant to be explained. Simply because something is not recorded in history does not mean it didnt exsist. Perhaps it was simply due to the lack of a term, or a knowledge that it was happening to them. I myself am not a person that will feed on someone just to prove to them that I can drain their life force of energy if I need to... because I am not the type to take what I dont need from someone. Everyone is arguing back and forth and the whole thread that was meant to answer questions has turned into nothing more then a debate although there have been some very interesting posts. If the person that I took a little energy from wants to post in this then they are more then happy to do so, but I wont ask that of them. Who's to say that perhaps everyone posting in this thread is not a psy vamp and has no clue.. unaware psy vamp.... It is quite possible because until the full dynamics of how it works and what happens and the when, where, and hows, are made known... there is no true answer. :)

Wether it prooves the existance or not what cursedtodarkness said is true... i know this as she has taken my energy on at least the one occasion she speaks of.

i believe the issue here is the fact that history doesnt support a creature that does exist... the fact that you cant find anything about them in books is irrelivant.

Dear stabbers ... 'fraid I have to agree with Raziel ... he always makes intelligent posts ... this is a New Age Hippy Concept for tree huggers and in fact should be called anything ...(please ANYTHING) other than Vampirism.

Well, I have to say that no one that has posted in this thread has given it the title or name it has been given so... that being said, it is called what it is called. Im sorry if that is a harsh way to put it and if it is unliked then what is there to do about it? All in all in truth nothing. Everything is a vocabulary word, and even the word Vampire is not what its original definition was as has been pointed out by UpirLikhyj in a different thread. Everyone is getting upset over a vocabulary word that we had nothing to do with creating. lol. :)

Stabb,

As I see it, today's vampire community is not only somewhat influenced by fiction, but almost entirely mandated by it... and therein lies the problem. Today, as evidenced at this site, anything and everything is judged "vampirism" if in any way someone is "feeding" (as they perceive it) from another. And in reading the threads here and elsewhere, the definitions of what vampirism is considered to be approach and, at time, reach and surpass the truly absurd.

For this reason I attempt as much as is possible to add just a bit of actual historical perspective into the mix. Thus, whenever someone posts a question re: whether vampires exist or what the history of vampirism truly is... I try to respond with some actual facts rather than the far too typical "I think" or "I believe" responses from those who rely wholly on fiction and/or their own imaginations or self perceptions.

Thus, when you responded stating that my question re: the historical evidences for psy-vampires contained only "barely see(n)" relevance for you, I could not but find such a response anti-thetical to the very question posed as a topic for this thread.

And, frankly, even the blood-drinking characteristic of vampires is also not at all found reflected in the original "vampire" accounts. Thus, even sanguinary "vampires" will have a real tough time finding any historical precedent for their "bloodlust" beyond the far-later 18th and 19th Century vampire fictions.

The point is that the archetypal Slavic vampire was not a bloodsucker and most certainly was never a psy-feeder, either. Thus, any belief in vampires as such is based solely on later fictions. And the psy-vampire belief cannot even claim the provenance of 18th-19th Century fictions.

Images ... thankyou so much ... you PROVED my earlier points by your statement.

LaVey coined the phrase .... yet people that learn from Anton LaVeys works know that the phrase was "coined" as a fantasy term to describe those that "suck up" to the weak minded & take advantage of anyone whose kindness may succumb.(Vampyre was the first word that came to mind ... although he would have thought of something much more derogatory if he had know it would become a "fashionable" term for leeches)

I do believe in debating FOR the "psi" you proved (thanks to LaVey) that the were & are not anything to do with Vampirism.

I am not trying to prove or disprove anyone- just giving the info I have. I believe in human traits, some focus on this energy more than others. All of these 'others', they are doing it involuntarily or without highlighting it and not claiming anything.

UpirLikhyj,

While I'm able to agree that the institutionalised version of the community is likely to have a much wider basis in the fantastical aspect, I cannot accept the discounting of self-deterministic (perhaps self-realising is more appropriate) beings, who act in a manner which is widely considered vampyric, irrespective of the surrounding fiction, since they may never taken an interest or formed an acceptance of the fantasy, but have come to learn outside of any (vampyre) society, only to become a part of it later on in their search for understanding and companionship.

I don't discount your knowledge of the history of the region where legends were born, where I value the information which you have brought to the forum.

However, my stance in this thread, is based upon the manner in which it was created- the supposedly Satanic perception that the beings who claim the title psi-vampire, are for some reason not entitled to call themselves such.

That semantics must be argued, is a pointless quest, but the intention, the inference, is to say that those who purport to feed upon energy, are somehow false, malicious and/or entirely negative.

I would also question the holding on to the idea that vampires are exclusive to the slavic culture, limited to one relatively small geographical area.

but would anyone agree that the fact the founder of the Church of Satan coined the phrase , make it seem rather odd that others use it and claim pride in "being"?

Does this make them "Vampyres" of indeed any type or merely people who are Anti-Church of Satan ?

I have a copy of LeVay's bible from '69 and it does say at number six of the nine initial statements, that Satanism does not represent concern for Psychic Vampires.

But I believe that this is intended to identify those who sustain themselves upon the back of others, by not taking responsibility for their own lives, not, as has been surmised, to relate to those people who draw energy.

In the meantime, the term has become an amalgam of different ideas, taken from vaious points of view and adopted/adapted for a new cultural phenomena.

My main concern is not with the existence of psy-vampire, energy/psi-vampires, undead vampires, or upir sex vampires. My main concern in how those who have beliefs (be they based on past liturature, past account, modern philosophy or modern belief) express them to each other.

Nothing energy related can be expressed as scientific fact yet...merely as personal experience that can differ widely in how we describe it or title it (reiki, vampire, miracle worker, etc).

Historical text is of course subject to bias and manipulation as sure as any other form of writing and shouldn't be used to explain what is but only what people thought or believed at the time.

Long dead philosophers as well as recently dead philosophers say whatever the hell pleases them (factual or not) and should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Sure times change ...

Surely "phrases" have the chance to change too.

Yet a phrase fist used in LaVey's "The Satanic Bible" is still being used today ...

What did these people call themselves prior? (good bet it had nothing to do with "Vampyres").

lestat,

You are entirely missing the point- that is, the term Psychic, is very generic. So also is the word Vampire.

Perhaps- and this might not please the Satanists, since it will detract from their vaunted influence the left hand path- Someone came to the independant thought of 'ooh, I'm taking energy from another, thats vampiric'. Then, having to consider what means they were utilising, grasped at the psionic/psychic idea.

Placing the two together doesn't require any great leap.

In the end, I don't feel that LeVay, nor Satanism, helped to define the concept of the beings who currently label themselves as Psychic Vampires.

But I'd be willing to hear of examples where this is indeed the case.

I have read this thread through as I see it the point of contention here might be as simple as a matter of symantic's..This maybe simple minded of me but well why make things harder then they need to be...

One breaking down the stereo types and myths in relations to being vampyre or vampire same word different spelling although one looks nicer they are the same beast folks.
Two as far as the mythological creature of the night goes sorry no such being exists outside of story books and Historical texts based of hysteria of people that had limited knowledge of sciences.
So we can get down to lifestyle choices here and communties we tend to feel comfortable with, Sorry Lestat I am not a tree hugging proto hippie wanna be.
Niether sanguainism nor psi can be quantified nor can any scale be placed to show how a vampire gains its energies, as we are primarily made up or water and a few random chemicals and our bodies work as a battery for our brains. We must restore these chemicals so our brain functions continue by feeding now we do this a number of ways good ole down home eating of food and drinking of fluids and for some of us we also need other energies again whether you recive this by the drinking of anothers blood or you feed off the energies that we transmit, as I see is the same deal.
Rather then having to be shown if a (psi, psy) or however you want to spell it is real rather show me the undead walking.
We are all people our hearts beat we get hungry we have sexual needs and urges, we want to have fun and spend time with friends.
Context of whether I am a leach or not is well almost of nil importance..
I ask this if a psy is a leach the takes from a weaker host is not also then a sanguain also such as they feed from others as well ?
I Put this as a matter of ethics and that alone, I see myself as a ethical creature so I don't believe there is any difference between the two types.

That was a lot to wade through. Curses for having a job that makes me type on a lil pda device!

Psy vampirism has gained a lot of different meanings since it began. Personally, I prefer the term pranic vampire. I do not feed off others who are weak. Why would I want their life energy? They clearly need it for themselves. Psy vamps take energy to replenish their own lack of ability to generate enough of their own. This happens through a variety of causes. We are not "boogey-people" (go P.C.!) that will drain til death. And for those of us who live as a psy vamp, we could not be any more real. I make no excuses for those who don't believe or are ill-educated on the topic. We are. We have reason and right to existence as do all other creatures.

Many of the psychic vampires that LaVey described are emotional vampires. They are people who are wrecked in themselves and drain everyone around them with their antics and melodrama. And yes, the term "vampire" is applied loosely to these people.

Mostly I use psych energy, not exactly because that's what I prefer, I just find myself doing it a lot of times in many different situations. lol sometimes me and my wife do it to each other just to see who can drain who first. Thankyou for that ... may I suggest that the vampyre term is so loosely suggested that a "PSY" is infaxt in their own mind ?

Maybe the energy they feel they gain is in their imagination. (especially if , as a few have suggested here , energy is taken from another without their consent or even knowledge.

I would argue that it's not so much a fantasy of the mind. Believe me, there are many times in my personal existence I was wondered if I was insane.

I will have to find the reference for you, but there is a woman named Michelle Belanger who is an energy worker and a psychic vampire. She had recently undergone some scientific research using a special type of camera that can pick up the energies surrounding a person. She did a psychic drain of someone in the study and the camera... showed a transition of the auric field in that the person drained from had a lesser field and she had the greater.

I will have to see if I can find that reference for you, and if I can I will be sure to send it to you.

Are you telling me you honestly don't believe in healers? Than i guess you dont take medicine because the fact that you believe the pills are working could be all in your mind. (Mind over matter) It's real and can be powerful, I'm sure we all seen examples of that. But make to my point, you guys say it is in our minds like that is a bad thing lol. I for one am also into meditation so I fully believe in the powers the mind can hold. I guess you don't believe a person can use their energy to move objects without physically touching it. *sigh* Closed minded people.....There is so much a person can do with their minds and spiritual energy. Do some research on these topics you may be surprised.

If you nonbelievers ever came face to face with someone like me that dabbles in a few mystical things involving energy and boosting the powers hidden within the mind, you wouldn't leave the same.

Just because you haven't been a witness to something doesn't make it anyless true then anything else.
I think it is this is an exercise in just this type of feeding you say doesn't happen. You have gotten a number of emotional responses here and I am sure to some extent it has stoked your ego in some manner this is a form of feeding perhaps the very kind you have been asking about all along.

As there are no real live (undead immortal) vampire's of the kind refered to in fiction and the term is used for a group of people who has certain tendancies and preferences.

Again just a matter of symantics although a pizza the size of Trafalga would be great albeit it will never happen. I never solely base all things on one text I tend to research and try to be open to other opinions even respect opinions I don't hold myself. I don't however turn my nose up just because they don't fit my preconcieved notions of what I believe.

You can hardly call someone close-minded for not believing in something they've seen no proof of. Not everything someone else believes is going to be true. A quick walk through the psyche ward will show you that. Or hey, maybe the voices really are magical fairies who can see the future. But until someone proves it, I'm going to maintain a certain amount of skepticism. Of course this isn't the same, but you see my point. If you want to believe something, that's fine, but respect the opinions of those who don't. Try giving useful answers instead of getting angry.

"Are "Psy" merely kidding themselves ... like a fantastical dream?"

to draw upon what Images stated, there are so many energy exchanges in everyday life, that how can you not see it? I am sure a whole subculture of d/s folks would laugh at the assertion that there is no power/energy exchanges.

have you never experienced it before, that seductive power of feeding off of energy of another. even the "weakling" donor in this case enjoys it other whise they would not have chosen this lifestyle.

ask any muscician if they feed off a crowd. or perhaps a stand up comedian or anyone in theater, if after they leave the stage they are not "high" off of the audience. in professions where one thrives off of the energy of watchers, fans, and admires, that too is an example of feeding.

regardless if it has or has not been written in the pages of history, the lapse does not discount the truth.

People have been feed from the very beginning in all sorts of knowing and unknowing ways. As one on VR has pointed out about just eating eggs... which is just consuming calories (aka energy by nutritionist)...

LESTAT:> I finally figured out where I saw that study... and in truth, I did see it. It was on the History Channel and it aired during their special "Vampire Secrets". They did a little snippet on psychic vampirism and in it they showed the photographs. Sorry I don't have any written text to post about.

Honestly, if you wish to hold your beliefs, that's fine. I encourage you to do your own research on it and draw your own conclusions. If you sincerely find in your heart that all of us psi-vamps are insane, deranged, deluded idiots, then so be it. (But don't call me that to my face please! It hurts my feelers. LoL)

I can only give you an honest relation of the psychic vampire as I see it personally, for I live it on a daily basis. There are some good resources on the Internet and a lot of bad resources on the Internet.

Again, I give you the option to believe as you will. Perhaps one day you will run into one of us in real life rather than just the net and your views will change. And the same goes for everyone else who holds the idea of psychic vampire as ridiculous or a trick of the mind.

I will emphasize here that for myself and for several others that have bothered to speak up that this is a very real condition that we live with that is not of our personal choosing.

Someone here mentioned that being a psychic vampire can be healed. And to that I would agree. That is... if one *wants* to be healed. On a personal level, it is something that might be healed over a lifetime... or two... or three... but it is a trade-off that I choose to stay with.

Meepers:> you and images are right in that there are energy exchanges every day. and being a musician who has been recently in a band, there is definitely a feed off the crowd that gives you the energy rush for playing live. it's a cool feeling! who doesn't love that kind of attention and energy, right?

however, what sets a psy vamp apart from that is the *need*. it's a real, physical, low-down dirty *need* to take the life energy of others as a basis for a normal quality of health and in turn life.

this is a really poor illustration but i'm going to use it anyway... two people are sitting by a fire that represents life. one person has enough wood to feed the fire and keep life going indefinitely. the second person doesn't have a supply of wood that will last for more than a week and has no means of obtaining more. therefore, the second person sneaks a few logs and sticks from the first person to keep their fire burning.

(yeah that was truly horrific, it was a loong day for me and i really need to get to sleep soon.)

could you really be healed, or just become accustom to having less energy? and to be healed, doesnt that term equate that a psi is weak or sick? i cannot grasp that concept when i think that psy vamps are normal..

I would say the musicians i know, the actors i know, the d/s ones that i know... they will admit it is a *need* just as it can be an addiction for some.. but do i think it is an unhealthy lifestyle just because someone needs more than food and water, no way. i don't see it as an illness and there in lies our conflicted opinions...

ok, bad illustrations on my part. by "healed" i mean this: the psychic vampire condition is an energetic condition that is caused by damaged to the energy body. i'm not talking blastic psychic attack holes into someone's energy field. i'm talking energetic damage of a significant level to where that person no longer has a normal energy system.

so is it a disease? if you wish to see it that way, i suppose it could be looked upon like that. i see it (and this is my view) as a condition of the energy body. as such, i have no doubt that it could be "healed" meaning that the energy body may eventually repair itself. however, at this extent of alteration or damage, it's not something that one could slap the forehead of a psy-vamp and proclaim them healed. a decade or a lifetime of active healing sessions? that might do the trick. but honestly, many psy-vamps i have had contact with agree that this is a level of energy alteration that would take perhaps the remainder of a lifetime or lifetimes to return to normal i have another illustration that is on my profile that is rather lengthy and more adequately explains my views.

i will go ahead and mention it. there is a book that has been published called "the psychic vampire codex" that has a lot of great information about psychic vampirism and explains it in much the same way i would choose to based off my personal experience. even if one is skeptical, it is a good book to at least understand the mentality and beliefs of a psy-vamp.

i understand where you are coming from, but perhaps i am just in denial of needing healing. ~smiles~

i am going off of my own experiences and of those individuals i have known.but maybe the psy vampire is just more aware of the energy than the other friend sitting by the fire in your analogy. perhaps if s/he was aware of the energy force, they would be drawn to crave the energy as well... with that said, is it possible that psy vamps are not just born, but "turned" (very loose interpretation of theword) via an awakening of the conscious to other needs beyond the physical and standard emotional needs?

Not only are they "turned", but I would not hesitate to say that ALL psy-vamps have been turned at one point or another, whether it be a previous life time or the current one.

And I understand your hesitation about the "healing" thing. I don't desire healing until I have managed to explore all that being a psy-vamp means to me. And that might take a lifetime of study... or two... or three.

And perhaps the psy-vamp does see the energy in the fire more. I would say that the psy-vamp has the ability to work with/ sense energy/ manipulate energy exceptionally well because of their need. If one relies on the ability to draw energy, it helps if one has a keen sense for it.

Images, your initial explanation was simply brilliant. I line up 100% behind it.
