This is my secound thread for this tpic the first one was closed due to length
Orig:
I'm going to a tech school to become a fashion design and I wnat to know what you would like to see on the market.
So what ideas are you looking for that was not mentioned in the last thread?
I would like to see a line of gothic nursing scrubs. I typically wear black but that gets old after awhile. Would like to see lace and buckles, something with gothic patterns as well. Also would like to see more boots. Most boots fit anorexic chicks but those of us with a little meat cant fit the boots. If you could pull that off I would be a loyal customer. Good Luck!! Let us know when you get your first line of clothes out.
Gothic scrubs. That would be cool. Bets the child patterns that you see all the time. As the buckles. Go the other way. Loose the metal somehow. In todays world there is too many metal detectors. A goth look without the metal would be very helpful.
gothic houndstooth.
if you can sew that i will buy it all up.
I would love to find things that FIT- not just stuff that has to be laced to fit, or looks like it came from Omar the Tent maker- I want real gothioc clothing for real sized women, not just see gorgeous stuff that fits barbie dolls-
And in more than basic black- purples, burgandys, hunter green and cobalt...
i think they should make baby tripp pants
:]]
that would be soooooo cute.
haha
two words....plus size, i also like anything with victorian style
Totally agree with suggarplum, we need more gothic/bondage clothes for kids!!! That would be very cute.
a black t-shirt with a face of a vampire on the front .
I agree with an earlier post, clothing that fits real women, with hips and busts.... not coat hanger models or walking broom sticks... A real size for the real world.
buckles, buckles, buckles :DD I just love it
about sizes...yeah we could use some bigger, and boots - with buckles :D
ehm about the colours, I guess black and red are still my favorite but black with baby blue or violet looks good too :)
Yeah, I like black the most, but also like black with pink, I know its old but still like the look. And red, blood red is good too.
some kind of crazy kinky leather outfit. like, one that comes with those tall leather boots and has a leather corset too... and a whip :)
I'd like to see some that aren't too over the top (kind of simple in the decoration department) but still are interesting. Ones that fit women with larger girths, broader shoulders, longer torsos, and that can fit women with breasts! I hate trying on tops only for them to fit in one measurement but be too big/small in others.
I agree about the bust size ... if the top/dress has a empire waist or any type fitted waist I can't get in it!!(pull over)
Gothic work uniforms. I wear a uniform at work by choice. Got tired of my own stuff getting trashed. So I wear crap uni with a cool t-shirt under it .
I would like to see more ladies pants that are more lacy. I like some of them, but they have the ones with all the straps and stuff. Some of us older chicks would prefer lace and maybe ribbon entwined around the pockets and seams! Also, the really low waisted ones don't work well with those of us who have had a few children. They are uncomfortable. They should go up to at least the belly button. Just my opinion, and what I would like!
I'd like to see some Amy Lee kind of dresses/corsets...She has amazing clothes, some of her outfits are terrible but for the most part their beautiful
I kind of mentioned this before, but man I'd LOVE to see some good gothic summer clothes. Ugghhh, I'm dieing of heat over here, lol!
Goth for Full Size bodies. Never see that in Hot Topic.
no you don't all you see are mainly clothing for babrbie dolls
lol, very good point! Hahah. Clothing for real people that actually lasts. I've notice hot topic clothing wears and tears VERY fast.
I like Hot Topic clothes, I bought a black & white tartan skirt from there, & yes they wear & tear fast but what can you expect from cheap clothing...Thats the first place I found a tartan skirt, I looked all over England & never found one that I liked
I just want to learn how to do it.
I am also looking for a cheap places online for goth clothes.
I cand fins any that looks good and cheap.
forget it,I cant find any that looks good.
There is a simplicty civil war pattern that has a corsette pattern. Start there, and if you google corsette making you will find other tips and supplies online. Good luck with it!
"There is a simplicty civil war pattern that has a corsette pattern"
Ahh?!?!
The girl way up there idea was great
baby trips
i made some for my cosin baby and she loved them!
hmm gothic scrubs would be neat. I will be able to wear them in a couple of years when I get out of nursing school. Need some gothic clothes that are not cheeply made. I also agree we need more stuff for those that are not really thin.
asylum wear... strait jackets etc.
Gothic scrubs would be awesome... so would gothic chefwear.
Buttons... gothic button company.. so you can by that fugly generic goth jacket and make it your own by changing the buttons so that 3 other people aren't wearing the same 300$ jacket; or otherwise having some kind of assesory kit to take to a regular tailor and customize your clothes.
Simplicity is the name of a pattern maker that you can find in most fabric stores. If you do not sew, then you will need a class to fully understand the pattern as it is one that is beyond a beginner level.
Gothic scrubs are around folks, I have seen many pairs, especially during Halloween.
I actually prefer McCall's since I find their patterns to be less warped. Most people do not realize that how pattern companies do much design is by recycling patterns in different ways.
Usually there are few errors, but I seem to choose the wrong ones from simplicity as they are always off for me. By far the best would be Vogue patterns, but even their easy patterns are beyond a novice level.
i wuld like to see something like renasiance meets jeans, the cool dress tops as shirts and nice leather pants something easy to wear
Plus size is a YES......
Colors.....YES....
Easy to move in, functional, and yet with the disctintiveness of Goth.
yes.......i will defintely make plus size clothing because i see girls who cry who can't fit into designer clothing
SRY BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE IN BARBIE DOLLS WHO MODEL FOR FASHION DESIGNERS! I WILL NOT HAVE BARBIE DOLLS ON MY RUNWAY! ONLY REAL WOMEN ALLOWED
That is good to hear, because barbie is pretty gross if you saw her in real life... besides I like bendable knees :)
Have you also considered looking through old fashion magazines of the 1930-50's for inspiration?
There is also Queen Elizabeths' closet or is it wardrobe to look at for the older designs. An expensive book to own, but great if you can look at it in the library. It has dresses that Queen Elizabeth wore... one of them has embroidered spider webs and spiders all over the detailing .
Who says we don't know our history ;)
XDominique I posted a HUGE rant on corsetry in the other thread. I'll message you with a little bit of info on them. BUT I WARN YOU, IT IS THE HARDEST THING YOU WILL EVER SEW, lol.
Oh, and thats another rant of mine, mason life, I did a huge report on ultra-thin models and the effects. I WILL NEVER use a woman underweight to model my clothings, and I WILL go by the BMI model. It makes me sick when designers chose starved models because "the fabric hangs better" *insert nasty gesture here*
in truth that is poor design.
Ever see a dress that make a maniquin or model look fat? LOL why would you buy it... it is far more difficult to make curves look perportioned, let's face it people are all different sizes.
Plus prior to the 1960's when off the rack became popular, people would have their clothing FITTED to them. That is part of why clothes today look so horrible on people, it takes a lot of time to find proper fit and style for specific body types.
Yeah, when I make clothes for people a lot of it will be costom fit, because I do make clothes for REAL people.
yes! I have to agree...clothes for the larger goth would be great..and not just sack dresses lol..beautiful things that would fit us, not that we have to MAKE fit..Bravo!
goth clothes for girls bigger than a size 0 but not all velvet, long and lace, ya get me??
Stuff that a person taler than 6' can fit in and still look like what they want. its not my falt im 6'7 and have no hips.
I agree with FallenXAngel more tall people cloths would be nice
Dresses! party dresses, evening gowns! Gothic! beautiful, elegant sophisticated! And trust me Fashion design will be so much fun!
while we are talking real sizes...i have shoulders , pretty broad shoulders , i would like to but my tops in the womens section but...unless i get 3 sizes too big , they dont fit in the shoulders. washable, nice looking dresses that dont make you look like 1) a little girl 2) like a hooker...a dress you could wear to a school meeting and than maybe a flogging..
Cloaks.. SOME really nice proper cloaks..
and some combat STYLE, trousers with a proper cut for a woman!
and size 28D bras!!
LOL
How about something for us over 40 types that would actually look good on us.
yeah, what that one said...LOL
It is very hard to walk into stores looking for stuff, only to have the perky teenybopper behind the counter ask if I am shopping for my DAUGHTER
Alright..I'd like to see nice pants that I can wear to work. Stuff that fits into the buisness casual lifestyle, so nice hemlines, no jeans, perhaps a little design work like lace on the hems or pockets or tie up waiste with leather ties. Basically consider making durable "nice" gothic wear.
For those of us Goths forced to go to work in offices.
I would also like to see corsettes that are easy to put on by yourself, sturdy support without being too binding.
Colours are definately welcome, remember not everyone wants traditional black. Play with textures, some folkes really like velvet, I can't stand it personally and really want more evening dresses that aren't velvet and lace.
Actually...avoid anything plasticky that looks like it was bought at a halloween sale.
More Corsets! Something that is classy, but not frilly. Maybe casual, but not dressed down to nothing to make it look like a laced up shirt.
MESH!
^^
Any of that goes.

Leather trench coats are also good not like the crap they sell in regular stores ankle length no belt and heavy is always good...
Yes the leather jackets are good and the combat boots for big girls :D
gotta agree with most of the women...something that fits real women! Some of us have boobs and butts and all that. These days all u see is clothes ofr the skinny bitches you can break by poking them.
gotta agree also with the kids clothing. That would be so freakin' adorable!
How about gothic clothing blended with business wear. Perhaps a business suit that has a high collar... or a mourning coat that has detatchable tails.
I personally have wanted to blend some antonio Gaudi into my goth wear (a macrame look top with a quilted white skirt ) You could do that with other artists ... say picasso inspired gothwear... or jazz inspired gothwear... anything really.
i would like to see spmthing like armer in lether that looks diffrent and is not heavy but feels light
an assymetrical black on dark black camo vest over a cyberpunk shirt.
affordable... corsets!!! no.. $800 shit!!!
i agree with the size issue... i have to buy things that fit me in the boobs, and then they ear like a tent everywhere else!!! not flattering!!!
also leather & Metal... how ever you put that together is sure to be a success with me!!!
As long as it fits.....and doesn't feel like a straightjacket...(unless it is a straightjacket). I like Victorian styles, but most of these fashions are so high priced. I guess you have to pay for high quality.
I prefer things with a small percentage of spandex or nylon in them. When you dance it stretches and wont rip.
Oh yes, I'm male, if that helps. Also things with zippers....lots of zippers. They are great for pockets to keep from losing your stuff and as ornamentals too.
well i say plus sizes coz for ppl with meat on their skin cant find anything we have to be small like so small and it would be nice for thos to find stuff their size and buy it not only that but for them to be able to go into anyclothing store and buy it
I still like the idea of goth clothes for newborns...I have seen some "onesies" and a few baby outfits at Hot Topics, but nothing that really jumps out at me, that would fit a newborn. Hell, I'm about to be a grandparent, so I gotta find something!!!! :) I can't let this kid wear those cheesy generic outfits :)
Since the Gothic style isn't as mainstream (save for Hottopic (kinda)) there is a lot to be desired in clothes. I know a lot of people who end up having to make things themselves because the clothes are either priced too high or just simply do not exist. I'd like to see more corsets for bigger busted and 'fuller' woman. More nurse themed clothes (as mentioned) and the possibility of a more funeral themed apparel? Like overly-lacy, buttoned dresses, laced sleeves and lacy hair pieces?
yes I agree with the one above, also things that have zippers love the zippers! ^_~
A look of fourteenth centurey englin would be cool, lots of blacks and purples gold that sort of thing
yes more formal gothic apparel would be amazing. Sometimes I try to get away with wearing more gothic like clothing at work, but it's hard b/c there's not much to choose from that looks gothic, but also looks professional.
I also agree that the clothing needs to be made for REAL women! Not these fucking stick figure models. :P
I so agree with RedQueen we need gothic clothes that fit real women all the things you see for bigger women are big and baggy and barely have any shape to them and all the really cool stuff they don't make bigger then a size 13 would love to see something cool for size 16-20 may seem really large to you but those sizes really are not that big here in Canada
well i agree with the others on more gothic kids clothes... and i would like to see also more leather outfits for real women... wicked kisses and blessed be, darla...
Id like to see more baby/toddler gothic clothing (but thats just me)
All these great ideas! I cant even put anything out from my own mind.
The one thing that sticks out in my mind is clothing that isnt expensive. Ive found some REALLY cute stuff but dont wanna pay you know $80 for a corset $75 for a skirt stuff like that.
Also something cute but not whorish. I want to look sexy..but not like I just walked off the corner...
yes..i agree with the sizes.. its such a shame..not to be able to wear clothes..because all the clothes are catered for the anorexic or dolls.. size 6/ 8..
Especially here in Malta.. you see these wonderful laced corsets in shop all size 6/8 and at times 10.. what the hell.. i just stop and stare and remind myself that i am on diet..pfft..
omg.. just love it... they are lovely items to have esaully if u r goth..
about the comment regarding quality and price, it needs to be considered the amount of time these garments cost to make. If you are paying $80.00 US for a corset, you are only paying the person about 20.00 for 4 hours work.
Especially with clothing you do get what you pay for, or it is imported so that the prices remain low.
Olden clothes made modern, More wide leg pants but for short people...Gothic Ties, Gothic T-shirts with different prints on them, vampires, werewolves, wiccan symbols etc...wouldnt mind jeans with tose symbols either, theres so much you can do with clothes now a days its hard to describe the perfect ones!
The traditional symbols of the mythical creatures being incorporated with our clothes would be really cool. Treach coats with chains and or studs would be cool. Gaunlets made of black biker leather with studs would also be awesome.
I'd like to see some that's got the Gothic look, but isn't heavy or hot. It'll easily reach 100 degrees during the summer here, and there's no way I'm going to wear heavy velvet!
