Why we are here..
AND what Brings us here.. God (creation)... Do you believe in Darwins Bend on it..(evolution) Or Nostradamus', theory
Where Did the Angels come from if you believe in Darwin?
There are 3 principal stages for "evolution" of living organisms; Biological, Neurological & Epistemological (element & system). The Ingredients of 'life'.
Personally, I feel there IS an eye on nature.. Look at the Fish in the sea.. A Parrit Fish, Now, If you have seen one close up like I, in the sea, you'll KNOW how bizarelly akin the the 'Tree-Parrot' they ARE! We don't see the likeness because they are both CALLED parrots, so it isn't thought suggestion.
I just thank @whoever@ that we don't have any tree-sharks!!
Mind you, we have human-sharks! pffff..
Ok, enjoy this thread i look forward to your views.
We are here just like any other animal is here.
We evolved...and our puprpose is to breed and don't die out. lol
I don't believe in God as he is presented to us in any religion.
I do not however discount the possibility of a creator. DNA provides a structure to life that just seems too elegant to be accidental. Furthermore, the point of high-end physics is to prove a univrsal theory of everything which to me implies the end of freewill and the confirmation of predestiny.
I firmly believe in Darwinism - my wife is a college lecturer in biology and studied plant genetics so I've got no option ;-). Seriously though, it makes complete sense to me and always has.
i am not sure about the rest oh the world but i am here to try to keep people smiling and to live out my days as best i can
LoL.. when I sAy 'we' i don;t mean just us humans.. I mean ALL OF US.. all living form
minx,
I'd consider birds of prey to be the avian equivalent of sharks.
Well I don't believe in the biblical theory of evolution and the creation of man, anymore than I would believe in a grimm brothers fairy tale being the truth.
Darwins theory of evolutions is true and correct and yes there is evidence all the time in nature, like the parrot fish, like the close associations with primates to humans.
LWR...
would you have any suggestion as to where angels would come from?
Are they spirits?
This is a question I often ask myself- and I have yet to come up with a real answer.
I believe in reincarnation, and that we continually come back until we've learned all we can, help all we can, and our souls purpose is complete..
I believe that there was not just a evolution of a being, but that there was also a "creation" of or improvement upon the evolved creatures that originated here. I guess I subscribe to Sitchins works when it comes to llife here on earth, but biblically speaking the bible itself speaks of two creations, spiritual and physical and of the "angelic" beings beoing responsible for the physical. I fully believe the rib theory being a metaphore for genetic manipulation, or mans creation through cross genetics.
i have often pondered this question myself....growing up with a preacher for a father ive had God smashed into my brain but as ive gotten older im not sure really what i think
I thi nk we have evolved only to realize that we are all dyeing.
EVOLUTION that's how everything works. it's all sience.
Very deep question. And understandable since none of us had anything to do with our own arrival here. I've come full circle from Christianity back to paganism. I do not have enough faith to believe that we evolved, but I neither fully embrace the Calvinist views of my father nor the Catholic views of my mother.
I do believe that the fact that many of us are looking for a purpose for our lives is, in itself, a good thing.
I know this, as should anyone else... We didn't just pop out of thin air from nothing, there had to be a beggining from something, things dont just happen for no reason. Life must have been created because again, we didnt just suddenly appear for no reason.
I believe in a creator, I also believe that we evolve though time. Our purpose, is to evolve survive and procreate, so that life can go on. The weak die out, as the stronger push on further in time. We all create our own paths in which ways we want to live our life while here in exsistence.
I beleive in a creator that made everythign for a reason and a goal, as to knwo if it was made to stay there for eternaty, well lets think of the dinosaure....I guess its ether evolution from creation, or plaina nd simple elimination of what was not meant to last forever.
I believe in evolution as it's happening as we speak. Some things, such as viruses, evolve every year (which is why we need new flu vaccines every season). Others can take millions of years. All evolution is to better suit the species, which is why some evolved more than others (ie: why, if we're evolved from chimps, there are still chimps).
Personally, I believe in no angels and that, like god, they were created by man to fear, blame, or have faith in.
personally i dont think either is completely correct...i believe that its a combination of creation and evolution because everything had to have been created but there is good evidence to support evolution
I never beleaved we were made.. it doesnt make any sence to me, Id say we evolved just like the rest of the animals on this beautiful worlds of ours... we are all still part of nature and we shouldnt forget that!
Good question Minx, but im afraid I can't answer that... although I am pagan and a follower of Isis... I believe many spirtual beings have been given labels like angels. I feel many different cultures see the same beings and have different names for them. Souls are a part of universal energy, that isn't part of the evolution of the planet. Sorry I can't believe in the adam and eve theory.
i like darwins theory....everything has to be policily correct and science dont want to change things because they cant prove it. I believe we r here because we have evolvide from the animal kingdom and thats that.
Dark Greeting's,
My thoughts are this:For whatever reason we are put here on this earth to either heal or be punished, only problem they put everyone together in the same Aslym. It is a prison planet.Myself I've been here many ages I'm Paroleing this time with upgrades.I've been through 5 ages of destruction of this place and can't wait to get off this rock. And boy am I gonna Bitch when my people finally come get me.
KA
I was raised Southern Baptist. Then I becam Assembly of God(Pentecostal). I believe in God and the fact that we are created in his image. But I also feel that there are powers out there that were also put on this earth for us to use. I have always wondered if we evolved from apes, why don't we still evolve?
evolution is a constant and undeniable fact. The fact that we probably evolved from some for of higher primate proven fact
as for angels just some sory of earth spirits glorified and missunderstood by fanatics
I believe that each soul is hear to learn, and we will keep coming back until we have learned everything we need to before we can evolve on to the next place.
What makes you think we aren't still evolving Storm... its proven fact that humans today are taller, faster and lighter than our medieval predesessors. We have fewer teeth and evolving immune systems as well as intellect. Just look at the inventions of these past two centuries. We went from biplanes to space shuttles in a short time span, in a few years a computer went from the size of a house to small as a pin head.
Thats our evolution.
ok here I go ......lol.....man made the concept of "god" no matter how you look at it man wrote the bible man came up with just about everything that has to do with a "god"
s for darwin he has some very good points but as with anything he did not have all the answear, and why can't angles just be beings from some other planet that visit us ?
I personally like to believe that there is a certain amount of fate involved...i believe that if you let something go and it comes back to you it was 'meant to be'. I think that we are here because we each have a purpose to make some kind of impact on the world...whether it be great or small. we may just impact the people around us or we may impact the world itself.
In the basic form, I think we are simply here to live.
What we do with that is up to us. We can choose several different ways to go through life, but one thing is certain any other out look goes into personal belief.
I have no actual clue why we are here....We have no real goal in life...Seriously.
I don't believe God or any Devine Human...created us...because he then contradicts the whole "we are only Human and we make mistakes" idea.
If we evolved then Where the heck did the First 'Thing' Come from how did it get here and WHY?
I have always thaught there is something outside of this universe like another world or being of some form....but then....theres the whole Never ending part.....But The universe for it to be expanding has to be expanding into something...there fore there is an end...
We are just here...no reason..why..we just are....Simple as.
Dnamra...how can you say that we just evolved?
everything on earth could not of been made from science....
there has to be some other powers to help the "science" along
responding to zilverscale at the top of the post the fact is the human population is exbanding yet again, lol.
yes that is true angel4blood....we are expanding....
but we are also dieng off fast too.....with more diseases and worse natural disasters out there now we seem to be losing a lot more than we should....
i believe everything happens for a reason. but how many babies are born in a day around the world.
We all seem like we're given a chance just with being born. I doubt what matters in the end. we just should strive to learn, love, and be good people.
yes but it is not true...i believe it is anyway ....
that for every baby that is born...someone dies to replace that birh...
okay, i've said this before, and i'll say it again. if there is a god or some sort of intelligence guiding evolution, how do you explain knees? no intelligent being would create something like knees to enable our legs to bend. why are there no creatures born with wheels? why the hell have men got nipples?
lol good point and the knee is to protect the the joint so legs arnt broken so easy lol
I don't believe in any religion, but in the power of the human mind, and in relation to your point, in its current state of evolution.
I am a complete believer in the chance creation of the universe, and I am a complete advocate of free will, seeing determinism as a form of shifted responsibility. Similarly, I believe in evolution and its chance effects on the current state of the organisms on the Earth.
So of course, due to my current beliefs, I think why we are here is a matter of chance, and each of us result from genetic inheritance, and I suppose as Zilverscale pointed out, our ultimate purpose would be to multiply. However, with the increasing relationship with ourselves as certain "images" and the evolution of varying statuses, we become obsessed with reflective Gods inherent within ourselves, and I think thata ll of us can often lose perspective on how insignificant we can really feel on this planet.
I think in light of this chance situation we need to create our own paths, and our own reason for living. So I suppose my ultimate answer to the question of "why am I here?" is so far not completely decided.
oh yeah - in answer to the question "why are we not still evolving" - we are. the world is actually a lot older than 48 years, and evolution is not fast process. it generally takes many thousands or even millions of years for a higher creature to evolve to any noticable degree. we are quite different to the "people2 who walked this Earth 3 or 4 million years ago.
there is still room for improvement, physically, but we are evolving mentally. we are creators ourselves now, and it is likely that our creations may be our next stage in evolution.
Ever since I was kid in school and learned about Darwinism I have been all for it. To me it makes perfect sense just how he describes everything in his journal. That's what I believe in and that's how I think we came to be.
I am one of those people who believe in both God and evolution. Evolution may have took thousands of year. Yes, the Bible says the world was created in seven days, but how long is a day to God. It was man that divided a day up into 24 hour periods. Any good philosopher would tell you that time is relative.
so in evolution of milions of years could we gain 7 fingers and toes if needed
oh and we are alot taller than we used to be too. for some reason.
I personally do not believe in Darwin's theory. This is simply why, I did not come from no ape. Now I do not know exactly where we came from. I guess that no one will ever truly know where we came from. All we can do is ponder on it.
and we can walk and run better. neanderthal man had very bad ankle problems.
I think are own egocentrism can often get in the way of being truly objective- thats one of the problems we haven't got rid of through evolution yet!
CharteuseDreams....
Fantastic responce a really interesting read!!
Thank you!
Oh.. Sykick!!
DO you feel it is evolution as opposed to 'adaption'?
Viruses 'adapt' as we become more immune and healthier, perhaps?
LOL.. LordChaosZombie..
Your post reminded me of MANY a drunken nights with friends, Waffling about the 'big bang' or Darwin's theory.. TRYING to get to the aforemath.. of each philosophy.. YOu know where we ALWAYS got stuck?? The moment BEFORE the big bang.. OR the who created God then?
in my opinion i think its more logical that we were created by extra terrestrials than a entity like god, atleast there is some kind of proof that aliens exist, well maybe....
I don't believe that we evolved from monkeys, but I do believe that over time we have adapted to our environmen. I also think that My Higher Power has a good sense of humor.
Actually, if one digs deep enough, Darwin's Theory of Evolution is actually getting obolete.
Personally I believe that Mankind is actually devolving, not evolving. You may think this sounds off, but there so many archeological findings, and so many historiacal puzzles to prove this, that needs only to sit down and brain-storm a bit.
I'll give you a couple of snippets.
-Nanotechnological remains were found in Siberia and were dated to be c.a.20,000 years old, judging by the rock and ice strata they were found in.
-The coastal mapping of Antarctica in the 1530's, showing coastlines which would on be visible c.a. 6000 years ago whose cartographer based his works on even much older maps.
I'll leave you to it...
karnstein.. maybe Men have nipples so that in the future Men can see what it is REALLY like to breast-feed.
Maybe the future isn't sexist and we WILL truly be able to share the load (",)
I belive in reincarnation, so i think that where here to experince every possible thing their is...
i dont really believe in these theries i dont know why but i just feel there is another explaination
Ok...
According to NASA scientists, IF cosmic dust has been falling at the rate it does NOWADAYS, on Earth for the WHOLE of the time that "evolution" suggests.... We would be knee deep in the stuff, by now.
ok we all know people believe different things but we are here. alive and kicking (with strong ankles)
Well in truth I believe in pretty much evolution and God/ Goddess. There is really a lot I could say but in truth I don't know. No matter what I would say it would make me wrong in the end. I am sure someone has the right idea but we can't determine that just yet. I am sure science has its theories that are probably true but I can't say cause I don't know. None of us really do.
A ‘life’ question eh? These are always good for nice discussions. That or all out brawls, depending on the temperament of the individuals involved :P Of course, I suppose it would be hard to have a brawl over the internet…maybe a caps lock shouting match…
Okay, getting serious now, I promise…
I do believe in evolution. It does occur. In my opinion, there is just too much evidence to say that organisms do not change over time. Any theoretical discussions should be directed towards the method of evolution.
As for me, I think Darwin had it mostly right; Adaptations to fill a niche and to ensure survival so a pair might breed and create the next generation, allowing the species to continue on. And so goes natural selection, very long and dependent on mutations, so in a way it is very random how the current myriad of life arose. You can’t create a desired trait out of midair. Nature had to work with what was there. If you think about it that way, I think it’s amazing how things turned out. The ways life finds to branch out is staggering. Think about us. Humans are well adapted mainly because of our brain-power. Without that, we are actually pretty poorly suited for life in many ways. Human babies have very few instincts and it takes a very long amount of time (compared to other life) to ‘train’ little humans to be self-sufficient. We have few natural defensive features. We need tools to do pretty much anything. We would all be eaten rather fast without our intellects :P
It’s crazy how such small changes in our DNA can radically change what comes out. Look at the common example of humans and chimps. 98.5% (although I think I read that now some are saying only 95%...but still) of our DNA is exactly the same. So 5% or less is all it takes to make a human out of a chimp.
Now, as to how life originated, I’m less sure. The big bang is an interesting theory. But who can say what really happened? There is substantially less evidence (if there is any at all, depending on who you talk to and what they consider as actual evidential proof) for the origin of life in a general sense. I think this requires a sort of faith, whether it be faith in a god/goddess/gods/higher being or faith in a more scientific and secular theory. I can’t say with any certainty what I believe. I may not be church going, but at the same time I cannot discount that something we cannot explain by science alone created the first spark of life.
Ok, sorry about the biology lecture.
All of the above being said, I believe in spirits, ghosts, the paranormal, things that might be described as ‘magic’, etc. There ARE things that are outside the realm of normal ‘rational’ explanation out there. Not everything fits neatly into what society and/or science defines as ‘normal’. And this goes for anything in life (if everything were ‘normal’, wouldn’t life be ridiculously boring?) While I do believe many publicized events having to do with these things are fraudulent, I also believe there are very real occurrences out there. I can and do believe that we all have a sort of ‘guardian spirit’ at one time or another. Maybe some call them angels, others call them ancestral spirits, and still others think of it as pure energy, a force that guides one on a certain path (something like fate).
As to why we are here…who knows? Maybe it is simply to continue our species before we die (some animals do live for mere days and die right after breeding, after all), but I can’t believe that, despite my scientific background. I know there is more to life out there, and maybe that is just the dreamer in me talking, but I still believe it nonetheless. Does everyone have a specific ‘purpose’? Well…I can’t say that specifically, but I do believe that people can have a ‘calling’ of sorts. A job or a project that they are ‘meant’ to do or that they are perfect for, in one sense or another. I also believe in soul-mates and things that are just meant to be. The energy of life is all around us and can affect different people in different ways. I believe in the energy of the heart and soul, in that it is our essence, out very being, and if we listen to it, it will lead us towards the right path (intuition. Yes, I do listen to it…).
So that’s my rather long response. I love these questions. You get to know people a little bit more…
I do believe in the Judeo-Christian God. I believe we are here for all the reasons I have learned in my Theological studies... and if we live a successfully long life (or even just a 'fulfilling' life)~ we will have answers to this question we couldn't possibly know now.
I believe as a spiritualist and scientist that evolution occured but that the events were set in motion by a devine being and guided toward their desired results.
Dark Greeting's,
I agree with Minx maybe men will get to see how it feels to have a baby after all, thats why they have nipples :) Hey guy's Evolve DAMB IT!!!!!!!!!
KA
I think were gods just experiencing humanism and grow like seeds till were gods again
Lavisbre!!
Cool, Look at it... Magmanimous Ideal!
If we are all Gods and at Seed so to speak, Do you know what would worship us?
I'm intruiged Lavisbre
I believe there is a creator and that we are and have evolved within our own speices, ie always human. As has been pointed out by others, how tall we are to the way we carry ourselves seems to have evolved over the years.
I believe we are here to learn, to connect with others and do what we must to help others. I believe, because of free will, we make our own purpose for living. Some live to die, others live for love, some live each day like their last. It's an indiviual choice and can't really be lumped into why we are all here.
Gods and Goddesses...spirits...souls...angels and fallen angels..Darwin..evolution....are all intellectual constructs. All is CHAOS, there is no plan. There is no truth, only imagination.
my personal opinion is: We're born, we live, we die...its what we do in life that matters not how we got here...does it really matter if it was god/the big bang/evolutionetc that started it off?...at the end of the day we're here!
evolution for me is hte only thing that acctually makes any sence I'm not realyl one for blind faith and as for angels well i'm not even sure they exist so well there you go
Personally I believe in evolution within the species. I do not believe however that humans evolved from monkey's or fish or whatever. If you believe that we evolved from a particular lifeform, you have to ask the logical question of "where did that life form come from or how did it start?". I have so much to say on the subject, but the whole thing is just maddening. Let's talk about our favorite episode of the Smurfs now. :D
We are here just like any other animal is here.
We evolved...and our puprpose is to breed and don't die out. lol
"I do not believe however that humans evolved from monkey's or fish or whatever. If you believe that we evolved from a particular lifeform, you have to ask the logical question of "where did that life form come from or how did it start?"
it stated from evolution from a large primate or some other event in history in which a ape like creature arrived somehow on this planet not a monkey persay but it looked much different than we do now also another thing why do you think that diffent races exist it was addaption to the local climate what do you think humans just popped out of the air

Are you asking me this question? I believe that humans and other creatures exist the way they are, not from interspecies evolution, but by evolution within the species itself. It has alot to do with conditions within a particular region of the earth. That would explain why asians and africans, etc. look different from white people. I mean where did that primate type creature you were talking about come from? It had to start somewhere, so why doesn't it make sense that more than one creature could form at a time or over time. Hell, scientists are always finding new forms of life in the world everyday. I'm just presenting a theory that no one else has ever spoke of.
i said primate like not anything about monkeys if a creature evolves then the weaker form dies out so that would explain the monkey still being here
the remains of what we evolved from have been found and never linked to primate or any other animal so yes you are right in a way. but it had to have evolved from somthing it didnt just appear .
If it didnt evolve from somthing then where did it come from?
and whos to say that the new form of life they find wernt already here or arent just a product of evolution?
I'm not suggesting we were formed by a god, though I'm not denying it either. Who the hell knows? This is all theory here. I'm just saying we were possibly formed from just the right environmental conditions on earth. I really don't know how to explain myself any better. I think we pretty much agree on like 75% of these theories.
I totally believe in evolution. I still believe in a higher power to go with that. We are here because we have to be here. Kind of like a seed. Plant it and see where it goes. If you look at it that way, then you would get a yes on both methods. Evolution and creation (I think that is what you are talking about)
I read Ann Rice's version of evolution, and maybe it is not too farfetched.
redzombie000
Have you ever seen a venus flytrap? It is a flower, so I have to agree, someone sure screwed it up when they planted it.
The truth is Death
If god created us we would know when we die if we go to heaven, hell or pugatory.
However if darwins theory is true it will be differnt when you die since as religon is a no no.
Maybe reincarnation is the answer, As i said the only way we will truely know is by dying. then its to late to share the truth.
In a way its a good thing, imagine if we knew what happend when we died the amount of religon discomfort it would cause, The amount of people having to change their ways because there believeing something that isnt true.
Theres some things in this world we wasnt supposed to know until the time is right, if we keep pushing these boundries the world will go to chaos eventually.
I don't know. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe it was gods decision to put us here.
I'm not sure what to believe. I think that there is a higher power and that this person has something to do with things like "fate" and "destiny" and all that, but Darwin's theory also shows a lot of good points. It's confusing.
no-one will ever know notice how these people all have theories but thats all they are. and why wast time on a question we will never come up with a real answer to until we die lol. just my opinion.
again a theory. its like askin ourselvs where the earth cam frdom we are never gonna know.
We were placed here by intelligent design. That intelligence KNEW that the evolutionary forces would act on Us.
I believe in a God, I believe in evolution, why is there a separation between the two? I've never believed man was created as we are now.
personally... i need something tangible before i can believe in ANYTHING....
now.. argue-ably (spelling i know lol) .. the BIBLE IS HERE... so why dont i believe it? Tell me how i am to know that it wasnt written by that times version of STEPHEN KING?
what i can see... touch .. believe .. is that i have the remnants of a TAIL BONE... what i can see is the scientific eveidence of RELATION to other primates...
Someone earlier mentioned being raised Southern Baptist... i was too.. and though my dad wasnt a preacher. i had god shoved down my throat all my life also.. and NEVER.. could i wrap my mind around the concept.. even as a child i was a skeptic i guess.. never as much for the santa thing either.. but sure liked reaping the benefits once a year lol
i am a firm believer in reincarnation and spirits... and my take on Angels is yes.. i do believe they are spirits .. ghosts.. however you wish to look at it .. but favored of a GOD? i dont think so ..
i wish i COULD make myself believe in an all knowing all loving creator. .. wouldnt it be great to actually just ASK AND THOU SHALL RECIEVE... lol...
what a load of hockey folks LOL... im sorry :)
and .. this is my opinion.. i berate no one for theirs... and hope no one thinks less of me for mine :)
Well I do believe in a higher power whether it be god or alien who knows but I do know that experiments have been done on a fruit fly to test the theory of evolution and it was found that no matter how many times they mutated this fruit fly it was always fundamentally a fruit fly the genetic structure of the thing never changed so as far as evolution goes I think we can evolve higher powers or intellect and things like that but can not evolve from a fish to a monkey to a human I think they are all completely separate creatures all together.
Did anybody know that Darwin actually believed in a creator? He did.
