Do you choose to go with your intuition OR do you tend to ignore it?
I have learned to GO WITH my intuition, I've literally had physical pain coming from an intuitive feeling. It is definatelly telling you someting IS amiss.. I mean you don't get that feeling when things are tickety-boo. to date, my intuition has NOT been wrong, however i had ignored it THINKING it was wrong!
Where does it come from?.. the soul... the mind.. elsewhere?
Is it there as a child?
I noticed someone had mentioned those that claim they should have listened to their intuition. I am one of those people that have ignored my intuition in the past and been burnt by it. Usually with people that I have befriended because all my friends did and I had an instant dislike. And was betrayed in the long run. A good example for me is putting my coffee cup down, a voice in my head will tell me thats a bad spot to put that and if I ignore it, I will knock it over. So there can be times you ignore your intuition, and other times you listen and save your life.
Intuition has many related meanings, usually connected to the meaning "ability to sense or know immediately without reasoning".
understanding without apparent effort, quick and ready insight seemingly independent of previous experiences or empirical knowledge.
Intuition differs from opinion since intuition is a way of experiencing objects, while opinion is based on that experience. Intuition also differs from instinct, which does not necessarily have the experiential element at all. A person who has an intuitive basis for an opinion probably cannot immediately fully explain why he or she holds that view. However, a person may later rationalize an intuition by developing a chain of logic to demonstrate more structurally why the intuition is valid
In popular understanding, intuition is one source of common sense
So yes it comes from both the mind and the GUT!

Here Here!!
Brilliantly put!
I understand it that it is a mixture of senses all coming into the logic sensors.
LWR...
you have a gift of explanation and analogy!!
The intuition or instict is a direct link to the spirit world, where all knowledge is held. Once one can become more in touch with one's instincts, eveything will open up. I took some philosophy courses that explain how to do this. I've evaded SOOO many problems, and passed SOOOO many tests and quizzes based off my instincts
Sometimes I go with it, Sometimes I don't. When I don't... I wish I did.
I should probably listen to my intuition more than I do..
I listen mostly to my intuition, if I don't I always regret it. I think it's like knowing what you should be doing, rather then what you really want to do.
I've had experiences like you describe as intuition. I DO NOT ignore them. I believe it to be a gift. For me it has been both good at times and bad at other times.
I think that these precognitions were there for me as a child also.
There are many theories about intuition but I've not personally sided wholly with one explanation and probably never will. What I do know is that it is real and sometimes scary. It will probably take the rest of my life to develop it; I've just about resigned to not fully understand it.
Blessed Be
I go with my intuition as I believe it is the use of the subconcious to process our environment. Our subconcious can correlate data in a manner different from our concious mind and give different and apparently spontaneous results that the concious mind does not see.
I try to go with it all the time and I get in less trouble when I do. But sometimes I think I know better and it end up badly
Over the years I've learned to just go with my intuition. If I don't I end up regretting it; and regret isn't something I take lightly. As for where it comes from, who knows. Primal instinct maybe? Subconscious?
I usually go for it,expecially when it really, really seem right to do somthing even though that I have no idea why or how I know to do it.It's almost like if for some reason we are programed in our minds to know some things, but not knowing how.Like how birds know what direction to fly when it gets cold and they flock togeather wothout being tought..they just know.I donno if that makes sence.Almost like some things that we know, without knowing that we know..is imprinted in our minds when we are boren.
Well to me anyways.
There have been many times where I should've gone with my intuition and didn't and got screwed big time. I wish i could say that I've learned my lesson...but sometimes it seems I haven't
I think it comes from past life experiences, thats why some are stronger than others. Are they always right? I like to think so. I dont always listen to them though.
I go with my intuition most times, I think intuition is sensing the situation that you are in and go with what is right. If I am wrong well I learn from my mistakes.
I totally go with my intuition. I think it may come from the mind and the spirit if your open enough. It has helped me avoid rough spots.
i wish i could say something with some education behind it, but my life is on a path that doesn't give me any time to think or decide.
i do get some feelings from people and i do be wary about them.
I usually go with my intuition, since I've learned from the past that it's usually right.
I try not to ignore my intuition, because it has always served me well. If I get an unusual feeling of trouble I follow my feeling and try to avoid the trouble at all costs. If it is a feeling of good I will tend to allow it to happen and not try to avoid things. However for me it is always very hard to determine the true nature of my intuitive thoughts and feelings. So I tend to go with the flow. If something is going to happen it is just a matter of time. But I do try to avoid when I can tell that it is without a shadow of a doubt bad. I have had too much trouble in my life thus far and I would rather just distance myself as much as possible.
I definately consider myself a very intuitive person. I can tell about people and places. I can tell when bad things are going to happen. If i try and ignore it i usually get in to trouble. it is like my warning to be careful of what desisions i will make.
sometimes it is a gift but sometimes i swear it is a curse. It can even end up being psychic. Like, a prediction of some sort. I get a bad feeling about someone then i better steer clear of them before i get myself fucked over. Sometimes, it can be very subtle that if i am not paying attention it will pass by. but i will always have a feeling of de ja vu. Am i making any sense. It is hard for me to explain. but i know what you are talking about. Intuition is a very powerful thing.I think we all have this power it is just relizing it and using it to our advantage.
i always go with my intuition, it's the only thing in this world that you can be sure of sometimes
for the most part I go for my intuition. Of course being a young girl Ive went away from it before and ended up getting bit in the butt. Ive found going with it is your best bet
I think you have a good point Litha. How much does our past life experiences influence the strength and power of our intuition. I believe it has a Huge influence on our intuition.
to be honest..i normally dont think about it! Sometimes i'll get a guy feeling to go for something, then i go for it, or i'll get a gut feeling to stay away from something. i guess you could call that your untuition...right!?
I say, never let go of well-thought out responses. What you may consider your intuition could be confused with something you just want to be 'right'.
I try to go with my intuition, but sometimes it's just more fun to do things the hard way. Seriously.
While I should always go with my intuition...especially if my dreams are saying the same thing...I often ignore them...for me I always second guess my self and it ALWAYS ends horribly...It's just hard for me to believe I can be right all the time...I feel nobody can be right all the time. I really should listen...it would save me alot of heartache. Intuition is a blessing not to take lightly.
I would think I can go with mine but it is not that reliable when it comes ot me, but when it comes ot others it has shown to be pretty accurate.
IndigoBizarre..
Your feedback always seens to re-inspire me!! :)
I hadn't thought of your swing on it.
Although, From my experience of Intuition, if i am having to decipher it, it is usually at a time where I am at risk of Danger/ or BS.
If It is a GOOD intuitive feeling, I go with it without delay.. It is usually to help another, and it works out JUST great!
It happened recently when I 'interferred' with a Father-Daughter-Boyfriend-Mum Dispute.. I was on the outside, Looking in.. I had this gut feeling to SAY what I thought...
I butted IN.. and the suggestion totally Quashed the acid-temperament.
*job done*
I was pleased it worked, and patted my Intuition on the back for AGAIN, Helping.
I am a firm believer of going with your intuition. I've regretted it in the past as well. One of those things like "I knew I should have done that" but you didn't. I trust my gut feelings. Although sometimes I don't like what they tell me. LOL
MichelleR..
I guess that is why we end up Pondering it.. Coz we don't like it.
I wonder if this is where "we learn from our mistakes" comes from.. Because intuition comes in to function when we too close to danger/pain again.
Intuition... when I do not, things go rather badly. Intuition over facts nearly always pans out.
Ooops...
The mind is part of the soul. It is the thinking part of the soul. I cannot say whether intuition was present early in life... either I was so dependant on it that I did not notice, or I developed it so gradually that I did not notice aquiring it.
like a few others, there have been times i ignored my 'feeling' and it has turned out badly
so i tend to trust my intuition all the time now.
it makes it hard sometimes because i don't rationalize why i feel something, just act upon it.. and that is hard for the people around me who want to know the reasons behind everything
often i may not be able to tell you why but i'm more often right than wrong
I switch...sometimes i go with intuition..and sometimes...i don't...it honestly depends on the situation...
I say go with it seems the first thought that pops into your head is usually always the right one. I have many times second guessed myself only to find that the thing I was thinking first was the right thing and could have kicked myself for not following it in the first place.
I try to listen to my intuition all the time but i really dont trust it.
Thank you EVERYONE for your opinions.. Human Nature fascinates me.
Me too Minx :)
I try to follow my intuition because i've learned that it's usually the right thing to do. Of course there are times when i totally ignore it (usually to do with relationships) but i always seem to find out the hard way that i should have paid it more heed.
I go with my intuition a lot. And indoing so I have a very productive life. When I used to second guess myself I always screwed myself over, but now everything is going great.
I chose to ignore my intuition once because I was scared of what I would find,if I had listened and went with it I would have been spared so much pain,so next time I will follow what my self says no matter the outcome simply because it is better to know and follow than ignore and torture your self.
i always go with it, sometimes it turns out i was wrong but 89 percent of the time has kept me safe and sound
like if your doing something and you feal like someone is watching you???? or have i missed the nail?
there are times when i feel this overwhelming feeling of danger. In that cause i will not go against my feelings.
i always try to go with my first instincts... it is usualy always right... sometimes i choose other and well deal with the consequences... but that is just me... wicked kisses and blessed be, darla...
I always go with mine, It has never let me down yet.........
Icerayne.. thank you.. thats a very good point.
and I too have felt like that.. I end up feeling pathetic because I didn't LISTEN to myself.
Currently my intuition is naggin at me to do a certain thing.... It is BIG. But I pause intently, for the right time.. I have 2% doubt on it. I have time and truth on my side.
personally i find intuition as your conscience and more or less a gutt feeling telling you that something isnt right and you shouldnt mess with it
but of course, sometimes we mis-use our gutt because we dont want it to be true
I will go with my intuition most of the time. And then, sometimes I say fuck it and go against it. I've never had anything bad happen to me from going with it OR against it. So, to each their own.
I don't know if its intuition or what, but when I'm doing something that I shouldn't be doing, or in a place I shouldn't be (and by those I mean places of physical and spiritual danger, not breaking someones rules), I get a strange buzzing in the back of my head, and if its REALLY bad my eyes go blurry like they are shaking in their sockets.
Over the years I have learned to go with that... head static = bad place.
People have intuition or premonitions, whatever you may want to call it. It may be as simple as your brain noticing something amiss thats too subtle to be noticed normally, or it may be something more supernatural, but almost everyone on earth has experienced it at some point. Its not always right, and sometimes it overreacts, but ignore it at your own peril.
Its akin to "first impressions are always the right ones." If something doesn't feel right, chances are its not. If you try to rationalize it, you usually get yourself into trouble. Just go with the "gut feeling".
My intuition has never failed me when I feel bad about something...but I do admit that I ignore it when it feels right...why? I don't know
well I can honestly say that my father always has told me to go with my intution and my instints always and formost.... well needless to say when I do not I have been burnt or very hurt so it is best to gowith it. Ifeel we all have it instilled in us and we just have to be open enough to allow it and follow or listen to it.
well to be honest i go by my intuitions and most of the time i am right.
i always go with my first instinct. it always ends up turning out better..unless i do something stupid..then i get in trouble lol
but i tend to jus listen to myself compaired to other ppls choices.
You know when your a child and there is a monster under your bed? You know how sometimes you are afraid of a dark hallway even tho you know nothing is there? Do you know why we fear it?
It's our ancesteral memory keeping us aware of our suroundings. Ancesteral memory from when human beings had to run from other creatures that intended to eat them. Similar to what makes a bunnie run away when is sees you comming. Our natural sense of something "out to get us".
I don't know if this adds anything to the topic, but I thought it fit in.
I always listen to the old gut it has never done me wrong.
I have learnt to listen to my gut, and it's always right i ignored it for too long, i guess wanting to hear something different but now i follow it and it's never let me down......
always go with your intuition, it's your first response to something, and is typically right
I've learned the hard way to go with it.
I working at a gas station when I was pregnant with my youngest child. I worked the overnight shift, and one night I saw this man walking across the parking lot. I saw something shiny in his hand, and my first thought was 'he has a gun'
I told myself I was overreacting, and that he probably had something else. He got up to the booth, and it wasn't a gun. It was a pipe of some sort. He used it to try to smash open one of the windows on the booth. He gave up after hitting it a few times. When the police got there, they said I was lucky he left when he did because if he would have hit the glass one more time it would have broken.
I had one child at hoome, and I was pregnant with another. I don't need to say it scared me. I quit the next day. Since then, I have never ignored my brain telling me something isn't right. I don't ever tell myself I'm overreacting anymore. I was lucky last time, but I might not be next time.
WOW!! Good one Minx. I have found that when I follow what I call my gut (intuition) I end up with avoiding trouble.
I always go with my intuition. It has never steered me wrong.
my intuition is usually right but I'm not smart enough to follow it!!
Intuition is always really a 'gut' feeling, or mind. Most people choose to ignore it, but end up in the wrong spot in the end. But, in the moment, you really don't feel as if trusting your 'gut' is the right thing to do. Most people get into the habbit of ignoring such a vidal part of themselves and blame themselves more when the out come isn't how they wanted it to be. An intuition about something can be a life or death thing. And ignoring it at all times can be your undoing. I amoung others have had to find this out the hard way. But, like some, I have OCD, which obstucks my intuition. I will do things on impulse when my intuition tells me not to, cause I can't help my choices for the simple reason of my OCD. It is better to listen to your 'gut' in the time of need.
I used to ignore my intuition...but that just caused me pain. So I guess through bad experiences I've learned to trust it!
i try to follow my intuition because i myself have been in the other direction. if you feel so strongly that something should or shouldnt be done there is a reason for it. im not sure exactly where it may or may not come from but i know what it feels like when you know you shouldnt do something and you still do it...
I have ignored it once or twice, and boy was it a bad idea.....
i have noticed that my biggest screw-ups and regrets in life have stemmed from not going w/ my intuition and trying to reason against it. i have learned to trust it and go w/ it instead of fighting it and things have become a lot better and less stressful.
if intuition means going with your gut feeling that this fits well as this is the way I do make decisions everyday I just go on my gutt feeling and im look forward to the reactions I tend to get from people it is always funny and interesting to watch and see in person.
Anytime I went against my intuition, it just ended up hurting me more in the long run.
If something doesn't seem right...it's usually becuase it's not.
I usually go with my intuition, but not after serious debate if the subject is important. I do think it's there as a child and just grows with the person's soul.
I think we are born with our intuition which is basically the basis of our psychic ablities. The hard part is learning to trust our intuition. The more we trust our intuition and listen to it, the stronger our psychic abilities will become. This is just my opinion. But I have always read we all have psychic abilities, just most of us don't tap into it.
Id say go with it....i've gone against mine before and if i'd have just gone with it things would have been so much better :)
but thats life :P
yeah, like when you choose to skip school with your friends and 2 blocks later you're like, yeah, i'm going... lol that happened a little bit ago
InuOniShi... you could not have said it any better.. Intuition is your "gut" instinct. And usually when I ignore my instincts I usually pay the price as well.
I have always found that intuition, is pretty accurate most of the time, the only time i failed to listen to it was when i got married, and the cost was almost too high, i alwasy listen to mines, sometimes my lust or greed can get in the way, and i suppose it's practise, it's a tool and a skill one that can be trained and used to help us, like everything it's up to us wiether we use it or not.
i seem to go with it and sometimes not to... being there as a child i do not know but im sure it is
I have also learned to go with my intuition due to hard past experience, when I feel the little tingle on the back of my neck I know my inner alarms are telling me to think hard on particular choice before me!
I have to agree I actually do. In the past I did not and it was just awful realizing that if I should of listened to my intuition then I would of not end up on quite a few predicaments.
I always go by my gut feeling always have and always will. To me its the higher power telling me what I should be doing. So far I have been blessed with it
i definitaly go with my intuition. once when i was 16 i told my boy friend at the time that i did not want to go to school that day and he said we had to we were in a terrible accident and i did not make it to school hospital for 3 days instead i would have been fine if he would have listened to me
Usually it's with my intuition and in most instances it turns out to be the best choice!
I believe intuition comes from the soul and spirit. I don't ussually go with my intuition because I like to take the safe side. I think intuition is there from the childhood because I remember having that gut feeling as a child.
I'm not sure where it comes fom but I have to assume that it's guidance from someone or something smarter than me(or at least with a better perspective). The times I've ignored my gut feeling have always turned out all shades of bad.
The cool thing about intuition is, you can choose to ignore it, or heed it. But i dont think everyones as 'in tune' with their intuition and ignore it completely, by mistake.
I try to go with my "gut" feeling, because i've had a few instances when i didn't and the result wasn't what i wanted it to be.
To each their own. :)
I believe it is a gift, and common sense too..I go with my intution depending on the risk level, but that is only because I am so analytical :)
Sometimes I go with my intuition . Sometimes I don't . It gets pretty hard to seprate the two . Is it fear or intuition . I tend to measure the risk level of things . But then I've taken a lot of risks .
