just kinda a crazy question ......
when a person dies.....do they like hang around or go straight to where ever?
i've heard of souls being in "limbo".... and why r they in "limbo"?
well ok then .... why would a soul be in limbo?
this i don't understand
wow that was very powerful ..... thanks it makes more sense now
limbo is someplace where they go to see if they are pure enough to go to heaven or have done alot of bad stuff to go the hell
"Limbo" is a state of uncertainty
a "place" where maybe.......a suicide has taken place
o a murder perhaps more to the point.
Until the person who murdered the victim dies....naturally........the victim stays in a kind of limbo
Some souls that die tragically can't let go, or feel they need to finish things before they can go.
Most of the Souls that are in Limbo are Souls that havn't finished what they needed to do on Earth. And they are searching for a person who can help them acomplish what they need too..
well, the population today is huge, and thousands of people die every day, but the gates of heaven (and hell too for that matter) are quite narrow - only one person is allowed through at a time, and the gatekeeper has to check your ticket too, so there is a long wait to get in. you aren't supposed to hang around your body for too long, because once the body has died you are supposed to leave it. if you hang around it for too long, you might get reconnected with it, and then you will end up as a vampire, which can be terribly embarrassing when your ticket number is called.
there is a waiting room, which catholics call limbo - but i wouldn't recommend it. the coffee is awful, and the seats are very uncomfortable, and all the magazines are out of date. most of them are in Aramaic.
Most of the time limbo happens to the soul of one in "shock'. Not ready to go on (heaven).Sometimes staying around for the living ,to give them comfort. They can leave 'limbo' when they wish.
It is my personal belief that souls have a lot more power then they may even realize. I believe the soul decides it's fate in the after life.
For example, those that believe in heaven and hell will usually end up in one or the other, and depending on what they believe the requirements for either are they will end up in one or the other. If they believe they belong in heaven they will go to heaven.
Like wise, if one believes in reincarnation they will be reincarnated.
If they believe in nothing, they will no longer exist.
Maybe limbo is for those confused about the afterlife and don't know where to go. This may explian ghosts as well.
that they stick around for alittle then they come back as a new person on earth
I think that those who don't realize that they have died can linger on for an eternity. Limbo is a state of being stagnant.
I've heard many different beliefs of what happens after death, I guess all could be true.
I personally, don´t believe there´s a place where the souls can "wait" ...
i think that if you´ve been good, you go to rest and get prepared to the next step... if you´re not good, you need to go back and learn again...
I've heared that they hang around if they have "unfinshed bussiness" something that must be settled before they came rest
As in life.....so in death.....if one is bound by belief on this side of life, then they take that with them.
Depending on circumstances, they are 'enlightened' or not according entirely with their own will.
My father is in limbo. My mother refuses to lay his ashes. She knows his situation but it makes to no difference. She is a very selfish woman. Soon I'm going to lay them myself. I know what he wants done.
I think whether they stay behind or not depends on the way they died. I think there is a heaven and hell, but I also beleive in limbo. I think that limbo, rather than a place for penance, is a place where people go when neither the devil nor god wishes to deal with their soul.
But, for those that died in a way that would have been the very last thing they'd have chosen, they probaly stay here on earth, in a manner of speaking, in a dimension that is so closely below our own that we occasionally receive glimses into it.
not everyone goes right away to the place for the departed some have unfinished business or linger to torment their enemies or to stay close to family member..some spirits are in limbo because some dont realize they have died and in tha case it is from an instant death so they live in the spirit on this earthly plane doing what they would normally do if they had a body second way would be they are to attached or have addictions and do the same thing over and over and over like a record on repeat.
I agree with bloodcreep on this subject. Limbo is just the in between state while a soul holds on to its earthly existence. Usually due to a sudden tragic death and they don't realise yet they have passed on; need to comfort and stay near a loved one; revenge; hate; fear; there are 1,000 of reasons why a soul remains in its own limbo. But mostly they move on and prepare for the next journey.
I think we all get re -absorbed into the "whole" that is the universe or what have you...... energy to be redeposited where needed or just dispersed into the big picture. This is a topic so big , it is difficult to put a roof on it.
Death is a strange thing and Im not sure if anyone really knows what happens after we die....
WorthlessLies what would you say the point of that would be ?
im not really sure about limbo....i think it would all depend on how we died....
Purgatory or limbo is the nonsensical rationalisation of Pauline christianity of Jesus' role as saviour... if Jesus came to save the world from death by his death and resurrection what about those good people who preceded him such as the prophets... Jesus did not teach any such purgatory nor did he specifically say that he came to tackle bodily death itself... Jesus used the gnostic concepts of death as ignorance of god, life as knowing god and rebirth as achieving gnosis or knowledge... what else are we to make of Jesus' admonishment to the question "can a man really enter his mother's womb again and be reborn.that "Unless a man be born again he cannot enter the kingdom of heaven... Jesus is not talking about corporeal resurrection but spiritual transcendence... that is why the concept of purgatory is so very wrong... more ancient faiths such as hinduism espouse the concept that the spirit never dies but must ultimately transcend the material world... this may take several lifetimes to achieve hence reincarnation...
I think some souls don't realized that they've passed. Others may remain for awhile to make sure their loved ones are okay. Others I think remain in comfortable surroundings. They just don't want to go yet.
The not wanting to go yet is the foundation of reincarnation... which is espoused by Jesus in the saying How hard it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven...
The early christian texts speak of the spirit or soul being imprisoned within the material world... those that embrace their incarceration (who don't want to go yet) remain on earth passing into new hosts until that soul determines for itself that it no longer wishes to remain here... that is when the soul leaves this realm and goes back to the Universal Divine...
So many different beliefs on this subject, no one person knows what the right answer is.
If you believe in Heaven or Hell, then yeah, Limbo would be when your spirit is stuck here on earth after to pass.
I have always believed in this.. We are in our hell now.. What we do here is our way of correcting mistakes or making sure we are who we need to be before going to Heaven. Now what is Heaven? well it can be many things but it will be one of peace. Some say they already know if they are going to heaven or Hell..
AS to the Limbo convo.. so many have already stated on my thoughts so I will say what a great insight many of you have.. I enjoyed the reading..
For any who are interested there is an ariticle in the members articles about reincarnation.....very thought provoking I thought.
Limbo or Purgatori is where you wait till you're able to get where ya suppose to go, those that hang around are the ghost you see, and aren't suppose to be here but are none the less...
There are countless ideas of what happens after death... Limbo being one of them.
I don't believe in either Heaven or Hell or that the soul decays together with the body... Instead, I like to believe that the main purpose of the soul is to reunite with Mother Earth after death and become a part of what makes the universe... I don't want to call it reincarnation, even though I am open about the idea of past lives and souls moving on from one body to another, I prefer believing that every soul is unique and has only one life...
A non religious answer to this question,
After the body dies, being of suicide, the energies of the spirit or soul, choose to stay dorment...Simply put, that of being in an oubliette (Place of forgetting). Not caring why they are there, or where they are going, that they simply are.
death is dimensional, so what if you take your life, Egyptians know if you live life as good as you can you r heart ways even to the feather. And you move on.
Some religions need control as they are week.. they scare you into fear.
Death is death no matter how we get there, judgment is by yourself on your life so live it the whay you feel right
I think that if a spirit lingers in limbo i think that they have some unfinshed bussiness to take care of and are looking for a way to do so.
i think when a person dies they go to where they want to go . so if someone died and wanted to stay around they could or if they wanted to move on they could as for limbo i dont know about that one
If you don't go when you go. You've not finished what you were supposed to.
thats what Ive heard that if the spirit stays its because its not done with they work here...
Death, the final frontier...These are the voyagers of the Afterlife. Their mission, to go into the "light" or into "limbo" or "Pergatory"...The eternal struggle, coming soon to a individual near you.
Hopefully not near you.
Death is a subject where there are soo many questions that are not answered and i believe its going to stay that way..i believe limbo is where the spirits are stuck on earth..and cant offically go to where they belong for sum reason whether its not completeing what they needed to in the land opf the living and so on
"Limbo" is a state of uncertainty
a "place" where maybe.......a suicide has taken place
o a murder perhaps more to the point.
Until the person who murdered the victim dies....naturally........the victim stays in a kind of limbo
that would depend on the person posting a reply, i believe that when we die we are able to do as we please (within reason) and do things such as being born again(reincarnated) or maybe go to an eternal paradise, but this is just what i believe this drives me to enjoy life a bit more
i guess it depends on your point of vew some beleve they are arround to gide us others feal they still have somthing left to do on earth some do not even know they are dead yet
i do believe the majority of souls go to where they belong but some hang around and ui think its because of how and why they died
some soul become lost or even not know they have passed, so they remain living the life they had. and wether you believe in heaven or hell is ones perspective, yet they just be gone... another idea of the final place
limbo aka purgatory was taught by the catholic church.. they then reversed their decision regarding this in vatican 2 i believe it was... it never existed accoring to the church now
lol the catholics can never make up their minds....can they...
Personally, I think you just stop existing. Just my $.02, however.
I believe that happens (if it really does) because the soul is not ready to let go yet. I think there can be many reason why: need to get message to love one, not ready to let go, does not know they are dead, meet a violate death or sudden death. So they stay around until they are ready to go to the next step in this death steps. Maybe too they are afraid of what comes next and would rather stay in the form they are in. I mean why cannot spirits/souls feel feelings too. When I do die I will try very hard to contact you and answer the question again.
When the body dies the spirit moves on in to a limbo type of place where they are given a number of choices. one being to be reincarnated, another to move on completely, and others in between. The soul makes their decision, and then depending on what they decide, it is carried out over a certain period of time.
I can assure you that you won't be getting the answer in this thread. You will only get theories. We're all alive.
well that is what i wanted ..... other ppls opinion...... and so far i have got alot of intersting ideas
It is totally up to the individual soul. Some souls hang around because they haved unfinished business. Some souls go straight to the Summerlands. There has been some writting on people who have met an untimely or violent death not realizing that they are dead and being traped on this plane.
I think that many simply don't want to go yet and have things left undone. And so they haunt or linger around. And some wish to watch over family or friends and don't wish to leave them.
We all go to the personal hell or heaven we create for ourselves, not that I believe in heaven or hell. Your actions create your future, and unless you die at zero and full balance, your wheel keeps turning
Thank you Uzziel limbo is invented by catholic faith to give power to the charge of sin
depends on what you beliefs are...if you are cathlic, you believe in pergatory, where you wait in limbo until the second coming...just depends
Limbo??? spirits stuck on the next plain of reality...some believe because they died unjustly, or murdered and have to make peace with the unexpectedness of sudden death... Really there are alot of ideas of what limbo might be...333
I don't know if they are *stuck* in limbo. I'd say some don't even realize they are gone...One of those quick deaths that they didn't see comin. Or maybe some just don't want to leave yet. I guess we will all find out someday.......
my personal opinion is that what we do in life shapes the path we will walk on after death some have decorated with rose and daisys and beauty and comfort while or like my self have a crublemly road with thorns where im getting at is that not many accepts tghe truth and live there life as if there was no god or devil i accept both the only difference is that i prefer to reign in hell serve heaven on my knees but for those of you who ask why some go to limbo well those are the souls that dont belong in heaven or in hell the outcasts the aitheist didnt do anything wrong just had no paith is and well the heretics the sinners the homicidal maniacs also have there own little places as does our kind but for further research read Dantes Inferno Or The Divine Comidy Focus On heaven Purgatory AnD HELL in great detail and mmight give u an idea of why you go where you go after death......
My opinion is this:
Have you ever been in love, and when that person is no longer in your bed how your body craves the touch, the feel, the smell, the very presence in all its forms and how you hate the knowing that you will never know it again?
That is like death of the body, only you will miss the easy familiarity of your own body infinitely more. The soul moves to heavan, but it is still attatched to the body (emotionaly not physically.) I personally believe that it takes 3 days for the soul to get over the initial grieving process of the loss of the body. It will likely take even longer than that to completely detatch teh spirit from it's emotional need for the body... which is why the body should (in my opinion) decay naturally as it gives the soul enough time to greive.
The Budda, was cremated; and this is fine, as he obviously learned detatchement while on this plane... most of us will never be able to aquire detatchement from possesions, let alone loved ones, and our own bodies.
This is not the most elequently I have put this statement, but I hope that you understand the gist.
Well the way i see it. is when you die u go on to the summerlands and come back as soon as you die. that is the way i have always saw it.
I don't know if this will be considered as relating to the subject or not but the thing that was said about being in limbo lately i have wondered about that one. There was someone who was super close to me but not by family who committed suicide a year ago in march and lately ii have found myself wondering if people that have died by their own hand can see the hurt they have caused their family and other loved ones and feel regret for the action they took.
I know that i was told by different friends different answers about them going to heaven or hell or being in llmbo and i know this person was a really good person overall had faults like all of us do but now the post here does make me think maybe they are in limbo in some form but can dead people feel regret once gone is my main thought.
i wish i new to but i only no what i was told as a little one that u wait in limbo tell jesus comes to get us but who nos tell we die

Personally I believe that when we pass, we 'see' and have greater understanding of the ramifications of good/evil that we have done here on earth.
From that point on, we have the chance to 'make things right' if we need to.
People who take their own lives are for the most part pretty desperate, it's not something one does lightly.
This is why I think forgiveness is so very important.
When it's time for me to pass, I don't want anyone to feel they 'owe' me, and I don't want to 'owe' anyone either.
Even 'good' people feel overwhelmed at times, and do the dumbest things, which end up hurting people.
Tell them to go to the light . There they can have peace .
I think it depends on your beliefs and the way you have lived your life
There are so many different responces to that question... to many. Either one may be right, a few may be right... or the whole world could be wrong. Id say believe in something and hope it comes true lol!!!

many realms of unknown to us may infact exist beyond what we call death, as stated before that a persons belief has alot to do with what they thibnk lies here after. I too wish for more than darkness when my body returns to mother earth.
well after we die i think our souls become enlightened which doesnt happen while you are alive.
ummm i guessing they can chose what they want to do but probably go where ever they gotta go
I think there are too many possibilities to be honest. I think that there is a possibility of them staying to finish unfinished business or staying because they so choose to.
With all the different beliefs and faiths that exist I'm sure there are millions of ideas each could express......I myself feel most sould rest for a brief period of time be it in summerland or the abyss.....only to re-enter the world when the right body is to be born therefore existing all over again
i think that its with in their belief system death has many manifestations to many people
its all based on individual beliefs n wat u choose to hav faith in...
As far as I can tell, limbo is a place of nothing. Not earth. not hell. not heaven. You may be able to interact with others in limbo. But limbo literaly means in between.
hum...I have heard many different sides to this......some say it's because they need to 'finish' something, some say it's a 'waiting' place
I honestly think it's just a place to understand why you are dead then to move on to 'heaven or hell'
it's really called pergatory but w/e and same reason is that people come and go in the flash of an eye and some get a second chance others don't
