Ok for those of you have seen the movie/ or show..my question is if you have or/had the power to see the future or to stop sumthing b4 hand, or say know when sumone is going to die..would you tell people or would you keep it hiden unless needed?...If i had them im not sure if i would tell people..it would bring unnessicary attention and people might look to me for answers..and that would be a big burden...so its like a toss-up with me..(..This thread isnt meant to talk about the t.v show)
I think I would just tell someone when needed....there are certain circumstances that are bound to come up when a person will just have to know. Other then those times I wouldn't say anything.
well i see it this way people are born and are ment to die so if you interfer wiht the chain of thier events then you chain may get changed to something more harsher
I would just keep my mouth shut, and not tell no one...
Wow this would be hard for me, I would want to tell them out of need to protect them and perhaps save them, the healer in me. But I am also aware of not tampering with fate and the way things are meant to be.
Just because I save them now, does not mean at a later date when I am not around, that they could die then. OR get caught up in a cycle of saving the one person again and again.
And again there is the dilemma in where I could be labelled a fruit cake and then have my integrity and honesty put on trial.
So the cons definitely out weigh the pros in this instance. But if it was someone I loved... it would put me to a serious test! Not one I think I will come out of smelling like roses!
So the long and short of it, I wouldn't know unless I was put in the situation. Great question though :)
I wouldn't say any thing unless it was a danger to someone's life.
I agree with WorthlessLies.. if someones life was at stake I would say something, no doubt.
I don't think i would say anything... that is something i think i would cherish not brag about
I don't think i would say anything, It would be hard not to say anything to those that i care about but i think it would be best if you new someone was going to die, would you really want to tell them this new's and for them to think about nothing else. So no i would keep it to myself.
It would depend on the situation, if the need warranted it then maybe, but the need would have to be great.
A trick question, huh would remain quiet. for the state that if it was to happen and you changed it would it not ripple the life of the person. for if s/he was to pass and became a leader, or parent would it not distort the time line of all those who were affected by this.
I think that id just rather stay quiet. Why try & alter the future? Its going to happen 1 way or another, so why fool around with stopping it before it happens?
I doubt i would tell any one unless they were very close.
And had been through the same thing.
Mostly because with other people it would drawl attention. And as u said the burden to have people come to me and ask would horrible.
i agree with cadrewolf ..... all things happen 4 a reason...... i'd keep my mouth shut
I think if I felt I could do some actual good I would speak up, but unless that is a guarentee, I would probably just keep my mouth shut. No need to do more damage than good.
If it were the past we were dealing with I would agree, that saying nothing and changing nothing would be the best - timelines and all that jazz. As for the future though, I think our choices are responsible for the unfolding of fate. Wouldn't it be possible that the whole reason you were given the gift of seeing the event was to prevent or change it? WHat good would it be to see if you could effect no change? It seems that if all things serve a purpose, that rule would apply to your gift as well.
I keep it to myself . But tell people when I needed too .
I guess that would depend on who it was...if it was say family or a loved one of course I would help.
Hell yeah, would say all to everybody, but not only say it, but would teach them as well, now that would be a party, where buddys are geting shot in the head, getting up, with a juicy FUCK YOU! and we all laugh.
I think anger would lose its meaning.
i am torn on this one . On one side I would want to say something to help the person .Then there is the Balance of the Universe . If you stop one thing something else could happen , cause there has to be a balance . So i think the best thing to do is to stay quite and not intervene and let nature take it's course .
See exactly..but another question is why were we given the gift if not to change the future in sum way?..If we r able to see these things there must be some reasoning behind it..if were not supposed to say anything then why do we have the gift anyway
i would not say a word unless someones life is in danger no doubt but it would bring unwanted attention and peole would want to know answers
If you touched someone and seen them die in your mind, then they die I am sure the shear force of guilt would eventually eat at a person. Therefore, do not touch someone (wear gloves) or become rich doing it.
Hey Trinity...you are a part of nature right? Then if you had this gift and you did nothing then how is that letting nature run it's course?
I wouldn't say anything simply becayse everything happens for a reason.
I havent seen the movie but everthing happen's for a reason.
Why would you have been given the gift if you weren't meant to use it?
I mean I don't think I would like to interfere with destiny/fate but how could I not help but tell someone, try to warn them at least to take a different course of action?
It would drive me mad if I had that ability. The guilt of knowing and not being able to save ppl would drive me insane.
If I could of helped save my dad from dieing because I could see in the fuure he was going to get sick and die, hell yes I would use it. Lose a parent and say you woulden't....
Unless they were people that i knew, their would be no reason for me to tell anyone anything...
The fact is that everyboy would do as they please! and that fitts just fine!
Is it not??
I think I would tell people if it was absolutely necessary.
I wouldn't worry so much about the attention as what the implications of being able to see such things would imply. Skipping a few steps ahead, I'd then ask myself if it's a good idea to try to stop what I've seen.
Say for instance I knew that 9/11 was going to happen a week before it happened. I go to a payphone to call in a bomb threat to both buildings so they evacuate. Everyone, except those on the planes, survive.
Who are these people that survived? Is one of them a serial killer? Or the future father or mother of another Hitler? In saving all those people, would I be bringing about something much worse? Is everything that happens; bad, good; exactly what is supposed to happen?
Of course, those questions then bring in questions of free will, and destiny as a mathematical equation.
Gosh, good topic.
i think it would be realy hard for me to tell someone that he/she's gonna die..
i might ruin their last moments that they would spend.
if i could i would help without telling what i know.
i would have to look at every situation to decide if i tell or not
Tampering with fate is a bad thing, so I would not tell. My having told, could be the reason it happens....you never know.
to me i wont telll because they will begin to ask qestions and qestions i keep it to my self....=]
you no, every one says that "things happen for a reason" but if you have a gift then use it.. you have it for one reason.. and if you alter the future then that only means more things have a chance at happening... good things and maybe some bad things.. that only makes you a stronger person noing that you can do something to help other people. sooo i wouldnt be able to live with my self if i just kept my mouth shut. i would have to warn whoever it was i seen it about....
I would only tell those who I'm closest with. If it's someone I don't really know then no I wouldn't tell them.
I would only tell close friend and family if something bad was going to happen, just to warn them but i would keep it a secret to everyone else.
I would keep my mouth completely shut about it. I won't tamper with fate, it happens for the reason. If It happens to my offspring any due accounts I would do anything to protect my young.
once when I was in school I had a dream that a kid in my class had done something that was going to get him in trouble and he thought he would get sent down to the principals office and would take off instead but the principal came to the class and got him instead. Next day when I went into school the kid started doing what I had seen in my dream when I told him to stop and what would happen he didn't believe me and when it did happen other kids started asking me if I could tell them what would happen if they did something.
I have had many preminitions of something bad going to happen to someone that I knew. I have always let them know after it so they would be able to either postpone what they were going to do or them not go at all. Fortunately they and I would later find out that had they gone they would have either been seriously hurt or even killed had they not waited. So yes I would let them know about it if I felt it.
My best friend since we were kids was killed during a bank robbery... If I could have stopped her I would have done it.... Maybe not told her why but had her stop for coffee and had her make the deposit 10 minutes later and then it wouldn't draw attention to myself, but she would still be here..... if attention was the trade off for her to be here I would take the attention... I miss her...
'Say for instance I knew that [11/9] was going to happen...'
Which allegedly they did? They'd ignore you or kill you. It's who to tell you must consider
If someone was goin to get hurt I would tell someone......
If i knew something bad was going to happen to someone i would not tell them, because if you were to tell them it might change what is supposed to happen like a chain reaction, them not dying may effect thousands of peoples lives...
Hm, i really havent seen much of the show but by what you have said, i would try not to touch pple but if i did and could help them, then maybe.
No i would not do anything i would let it happen, the only way i would even think of telling someone is if it was a family member...
I would keep it to myself and not interfere. The forces of nature aren't meant to be interfered with.
As for keeping it to myself, I definitely would, because yeah, it'd draw unnecessary attention to me. Also, modern society most likely wouldn't want to accept it, it would scare them.
I believe that there is a great balance to life and death that should not be played with. If I were given a gift such as that I would not, or would try to not use it for minor things some people are meant to die at a cretin time and others would be the acceptation to the rule. So I think that I would only say something under cretin circumstances.
I would love to have that power but ONLY to help people and to give messages to them from their loved ones that are gone.
I say this because there have been some that have left this world and I was unable to tell them my real and true feelings and I would love to be given the chance to express it to them.
It would change from situation to situation. If I thought it was paramount then I might act on it. Otherwise, I would probably keep my lips sealed.
I would use it for close friends and family, if life indeed was in danger...
when it's family or friends or someone close to me....if it's someone is going to kill them then yes...if it's just because they are going to die of natural cause...I would warn them...and then be by there side when they do die.....to make sure they have support
I would love to have that power...but would be troubled on how to use it
Well here in my personal opinion i might try to say something especially if the person is someone i truely cared about and loved dearly mabe even bust my ass to help the situation not come to be .. However i think that the waves of time and occurences are a path we cannot alter and what wioll be will be maybe not in the same occurence but will happen if its your time its your time and nothing will stop it.. if it was a occurence like murder or a situation that could possibly be changed then maybe then it could be switched but a naturally done death i dont think can be fixed..
A lot of people are saying that they would like that power to help people, wich is good, but lets say you stop a person from getting shot in the head, but the next month they burn to death in a fire, did you still help them or did you make it worse for them?...
IT would be a cool power. I could see someone dieing in a really cool way in a vision, then go watch it for real!
AWESOME!
I believe that once you speak words outloud they take a different existance in our world and can change the course of things. I also believe in the order of things and that which is to happen will do so. Certainly if you knowingly knew that someone you know or love was about to get hit by a car you would do everything possible to keep them from harm. I don't believe anyone of us would choose to say nothing just because of what people thought about us. Now how you would choose to deliver such a message is something else :)
The ability to see the future would be the ultimate double edged sword. What if saving someone's life later resulted in an even worse event taking place? Way to many variables to deal with.
i would not let anyone know i had the power, because i think to many problems would come from it.
I'd probably keep it hidden. Prophecy is dicey; you never know what the long term consequences of preventing something may be. For example, let's say I was living in a German facility for homeless men in the early 1900's. There was a withdrawn art student named Adolph there, who you had a vision of dying in some sort of accident the next day. Now, you don't know Adolph too well, but hey, you're an compassionate sort. You don't want what you saw to happen to the guy. You save him......
......and, years later, after Hitler rose to power, caused a war that tore your country to pieces, gave various racist groups around the world a figure to idolize, as well as inciting the worst episode of genocide the world had seen until that point, you'd realize that you should have just let him be him die.
It's all about consequences and context......
not sure what i'd do. It depends on what I saw. If it was a natural disaster then yes I would tell someone, but if it was something like a terror attack or something, I'd keep it to myself for fear that I would be accused of being involved in the plot.
sorry I pressed the wrong button
in my opinion even if you see someone dieing and you can tell them to stop it from happening you should do it because I believe everything happens for a reason and stopping something from happening would only create problems and lead it to happen anyway or other things that weren't supposed to happen to happen
KatherinexxxArdu~
Even if you did tell someone if you seen a natural disaster, it most likely would not help anyway, i mean they would probably look at you like you were a nut case unless it was your friends and family and still you might be looked at like your a nut case, so personally i do not think it would help to tell anyone anything...
I am not sure if it would be a good idea to try to change what is to be at all. After all you can never be sure what future events it will effect. But then again on the other hand you would not have the power for no reason.
So that being said lol I would help those that came to me either personally or thur fate. Much as I do now. I would not seek people out to help. And I would try to help but also be aware not everyone would listen or wish the help.
myself I would not interfer with death destiny whatever because there is a certain chain of events that happen for a reason and we do not always know why till the aftermath if even then so I would not interfer.
hard choice i wouldnt want to mess with the future and all but if it was someone i loved i would probly warn them somehow.
John Donne said, "no man is an island."
We all have an affect on all others in some way. Like a ripple enlarging and enveloping in all directions so would be the effect of any changes that we made to the future. Whether for better or worse how would you ever know.
No, I think you should keep your knowledge to yourself.
I think that I would just keep what I knew to myself so as not to interfere with fate.
This goes along the same lines of everyone being immortal. What would we do when the earth's population all of a sudden sky rockets to a hundred billion? The answer to your question is, I'd have to keep it to myself, at least as much as I possibly could.
If you had the ability to see the future of someone dying, and then you act out to prevent the death, you really have not changed the future. Your vision of the person's death that you viewed was a possible future, but for some reason, you were able to determine the risk and act.
In simpler terms, I know that a pot of water on the stove will eventually boil, but if I choose to act and remove the pot from the heat, it will not boil.
This study of time branching is really neat. Of course, if you view it from an emotional stand point, you are "messing with fate."
Fate is what happens after the decisions are made, or not made.
It would be a toss up because I believe everyhting happens for a reason and you may be stopping someone from learning the lesson they were brought back to learn by interferring.
If a person was able to see the future, and they stopped something from happening they could cause a butterfly effect, like if you were to stop a person from jumping off a bridge and 2 months later they blew up a airplane full of people and that plane crashed into a building then you would have caused more deaths buy saving one person than you would have if you were to have let him jump, so i think that if a person was able to see into the future and was able to stop it they better think before they do something...
I have never seen the future that I know of. If I did premonition that someone was going to die I wouldn't say anything. I wouldn't believe that it was going to happen. If it happend at least three times and all the times the person died the way I saw it happen then I might start saying something.
I can't see into the future. I'm a special kind of psychic: I can see into the present, but not that far (LOL).
But, if I could
Anyway, continuing my thought that somehow got cut short above, I was saying that if I could see into the future, and knew a disaster was coming, and I knew that I could do something about it, I would.
I do have mixed feelings about self sacrifice, however. Would I sacrifice my own life to save the multitudes? I'm not sure. I can't really say that I would, but then, I can't really say that I wouldn't, either.
And as for forseeing a person's death, I wouldn't tell them. Alerting someone to their moment of death would probably create an intense (and irrational) paranoia in that person, thus doing more harm than good.
But that's just my two cents...
i would let them know without letting them know it was me who knew. give them some kind of warning and if they heed to listen then they live if not then so be it
I would not tell anyone, but I would probably use the knowledge to stop those I care about from dieing, and maybe if possibly stop something where a lot of people may die.
i would say something cause id want some one to tell me ... i think life is very inportant..
if i had to tell them i would other then that I wouldn't do anything to stop it. It all happens for a reason and to go and mess with fate is something that I don't want to do because of the repercussions of doing that
i have to agree..i would just not say anything..for when you mess with what is too be..then no telling what the out come will change too.
