My question is...Is your house haunted? If so what makes it that way? What makes you think it is?

For me..I believe my house is haunted because of what is right in front of it. I have a grave yard at the end of my front yard. It's in our field. The headstones date back to the late 1800's and early 1900's. Mind u my dad built my house 17 years ago so nobody has died here but who knows if there was another house on the land before he got it that someone died in and their soul still lingers on the land.

Another thought to ponder on.
If your house isn't that old what about the land? It could have had another house on it before. Or a building that someone did die in. And the essence of that house still be keeping the spirit of the person that haunts the land still be entangled with the house/building. If this confuses anyone let me know and I'll try to explain a lil' better.

Also is there a haunted Church around u anywhere?

I lived in a haunted house 4 years ago.

Things used to disappear for days and then appear in the unlikeliest of places. The sink used to be full every morning. Fresh fruit would go mouldy within a day.

The whole house would go icy cold even with the heating full on. Objects would get thrown.

One morning the gas cooker had been switched on. Doors would slam.

And one night a picture got knocked off the wall.

i would say yes.. andi dont really know.. there is just this wierd feeling it never leaves.

I don't feel my house is *haunted* in the classical sense, but I do feel there are spirits who live here. Maybe a guardian of some sort??

I grew up in a haunted house....seeing dark figures..hearing people talking......the smell of burnt hair...light going on and off...the stories I could tell you about it would be unreal....in the end it cost my mother her life

my house might be. ive seen shadows and such that shouldn't be there. I am going to start working in a hotel here soon and the 4th floor is haunted. One thing i don't understand is a lady that worked there claims she has seen a ghost. But what makes it hard to believe is that the man she saw came out of the ice maching and was dressed in a civil war uniform. this motel was built way after the civil war ended and if i recall most of the fighting was fought down south. People also hear a baby crying.

I believe my house is but the only spirit/ghost that I pay any attention to most of the time is my brother.

I lived in a haunted house as a child growing up, because things would disappear. I had an encounter with the being, and things just seemed off in the house.

I also lived in an appartment that was haunted, because the place had alot of things in it that were done. I don't know what caused that haunting I never checked into it.

But, as for the house now...I'm unsure. It is rather new, and I haven't really had any experiences in it that would suggest a haunting. Unless I am pulling things to the home...which I don't know.

True Story: two nights ago my ex-husband was laying in his bed when a young boy walked up to him..raised his hand in a salute..and then disappeared. He told me he freaked so bad he wasn't able to sleep for the rest of the night.

Yes, my house is definitely haunted - especially my basement. I've seen a full apparition down there once back in 2001. I saw it right in front of me, plain as day. Ever since then I've refused to sleep down there at night, whether I have someone to keep me company or not.

Also, there's something in my laundry room area that for some reason can scare the crap out of me. Even my friends who are skeptical about ghosts will go to that area or just think about it and they will get creeped out by it. If that isn't a big hint that something's there, I dunno what is!

Well my dads house in northern New Jersey is absolutly haunted. We know this because we all have expirienced things at different times as well as togethor. My Sister used to stand at the bottom of the stairs and talk to someone when she was 2 and no one was ever there. When my brother was a baby he was sleeping in the den while we were watching TV and heard a baby crying upstairs, then a women singing to it. ( We Left The house). All of the silverware was on the table one morning and all the cabinets had childlocks on them. And Many other things. The house is from the late 1700's it had bullet holes on one side of it. We found 5 graves in the backyard while having a new septic put in.
The history of the house said it was a Butcher shop and post office at one point then a police station and jail. It was also a summer day camp thing for a short while.
1 man died in it when it was a butcher shop when he fell on the front steps and broke his neck. 2 people died in it when it was a jail, both of wounds inflicted by each other during a fight. A women and her baby died of some illness like the flu. And a boy died in the river during winter. Its a spooky place sometimes but it has become more quite in the past 10 years.

Someone/something just rung my door bell and when I got up to see who it was noone was in sight has these ever happen to anyone on VR?

I have lived in a couple of "haunted" places, the first your general, run-of-the-mill "ghost", and the second wasn't a ghost, so I supposed a "haunting" wouldn't be the right word. Oh, well.

Well, not my current house. The last house we lived in had the downstairs fireplace and a bit of the basement made out of bricks that had once been in a prison, and I hated going down there without anyone else going with me. I always felt as if I wasn't safe, and it really unnerved me. Any thoughts? Can pieces of old buildings carry any sort of spirit with them?

I'm not sure if my house is haunted but one night I was woken up by my boyfriend calling my name and asking what I was doing over by the window. I was still in bed. He later told me it was a black shadow that went from the window (which is on his side of the room) and stopped at the end of the bed and disappeared. It freaked me out so bad that I still can't sleep in the dark. I also had a friend say that one time she was there and she saw a black thing hop down the stairs. I have experienced things tho. One of my best friends house is haunted... well at least the shower.

I have lived in 2 hunted place where the spirits actually did intereact and even cause trouble.

The frist place was about 9 years ago, and the spirit used to harrass and scared my son, he was 3 at that time, till I got mad and got into a fight with it, first was the noise, then the stuff being thrown all over the place, for several days... in the end we moved out, so my son would be better and so would it, I guess the fact that my husband as that time saw fear and heard us scream to death and me hiting something that was not visible, I guess it help him agree to move out lol...

The second was where I am now, at times the heater gets to max on tis own, even if there is a lock to prevent it, light bublbe bust very often, (more then 5 a week)no matter what mark I buy, I get throw off my bed, push on walls, tap on shoulder, and fosset open and close sometimes on their own..

My house isn't really haunted per se. Both my roommate and I have felt the presence of a cat's spirit brush up against us when none of the cats are in the house.

When I was 4 me and me dad were in the front yard of our current house and I started waving at my window. My dad asked who I was waving to and I said grandfather. He didn't see anyone so he told me to tell him what I saw. I told him in great detail who I saw and what he was wearing. My dad pulled out a photo album and showed me a picture of who I described. It was his grandfather and was also the man I saw. Our house is his old house and my room was his bedroom. He died 6 weeks before I was born. While he was alive he was very anxious and excited about my mom being pregnant with me and visited my parents daily to check on us. I am also named after him.

ive lived in haunted house before,the most creepy was the scumlord never told us it had a fire b4 were a baby died in her crib,which was my bed room..id hear a baby cryn in the night and wake up freezing also the same thing would happen with the sink being filled with water,lights would go off things like that. i do believe also that land could be haunted,who knows what coulda been there,an old grouphome i lived in when i was 12 was built over an old slave graveyard...

I believe that in every place there are spirits. They choose to make themselves known to us. My old home, it was very active. My new home, not so much, but I have felt them here.

I believe that ghosts can stay within their place of resadency.
Every house i have ever lived in has been Haunted, some not so good.
personally i think Theese spirits have travelled with me.
some people think i have a psycic ability & that they are drawn to me.
some think they are my Guardian Angles.
Grave yard's are full of lost souls, it is their playground, as for them haunting your house i dont think so, unless they actually have a link to your home...
Maybe they are drawn to you.

Currently, not living in a haunted house....

But I grew up in one. And lived in two others since then.

My childhood home was a large 100 year old Victorian home. It was built by a local judge and this person would host public hangings in his front yard. A total of six known such events were held there.
As a child, I recall a man coming with a metal detector and searching the yard. In it, a jailor's key was found.
But more pointedly, as a child, LOTS of weird stuff happened. Things going missing and pictures falling off walls. At one point I even saw ghostly figures looking in the windows. And I wasn't the only one. My parents and brother and others saw the same.

It was a well known "fact" in my small home town that our house was haunted. Many kids weren't allowed to spend the night for a sleep over because of this. We moved into the town from very far away and had no idea what we had gotten into. But there was surely something the locals all knew about it that kept them buying it.

I lived in a haunted house a few years back, found out somebody had hanged themselves in the bathroom!!

I noticed cold sports, stuff going missing & then re-appearing, doors slaming all the usual stuff. Plus i saw shadows moving that weren't relative to anything else in the room. There was always an atmosphere though, the kind you get when u know ur not alone.

Now i live in another haunted house but with no suicide involved, just people that have lived, loved & died in the house as it's quite old (70 years). I still get stuff going missing but no cold spots, bad atmosphere etc Just an occasional knocking at my bedroom door in the middle of the night when nobody is around....

I bought my new house a couple of months ago...I just found out the reason it was sold was beause the father died in it in and they would see him walking down the hall. He's still here....he makes sure we know he's here.....he opens and closes doors...knockes pics off the wall...after my roomate and I went to the attic and started to clean it out it made him mad....we could'nt sleep for days....footsteps..banging....we ended up putting his stuff back and telling him we were sorry.

this is all about a house being haunted..what about an item..lke a watch that a spirit has attached to? or a person?

chaosrarity is right, you just know the place is haunted. You get a feeling way down in your gut and the back of your neck, although i don't know about it persistently getting worse. All depends on the spirt i suppose.

some very strange thing's has been happen at my friend's place lately.

well i know for a fact that my dad's house is haunted....but i don't think i would say its haunted unless you believe that spirits of your loved ones let you know they're there for ya..

The house I live in,I think was haunted 3 years ago because of the weird stuff that happened,however stuff vanishes still to this day.

I know 4 a fact the moutuary I work at is haunted 4 sure !!! We all set up chairs 4 a servis the other day and went to go outside 4 abit came back and all the chairs were down Picked them back up waited a few minutes and boom they started falling left and right!!! I got scared and called 4 my manager he told mus to wheel out the gurney were the body was laying on, and all of a sudden the whole room got freezing ice cold then it was gone!! Now thats scary!!

And the drinking fountain also goes on by itself, I asked the owner before I started working there whats wrong with the drinking fountain He said ohh thats just a plumbing problem come to find out after I got the job Thats when he said it was haunted lol, cause drinking fountains dont go on by themselves do they ?? lol.

my apartment is haunted there is an old lady and a little girl the little girl likes to move my candles and turn on and off the tv and stereo she also unlocks the doors when small children are in the house which is odd the old lady smokes in the house and you can smell it strong only in the living room in a corner where there is not ventilation and no holes that go to other apartments she also likes to turn on and off lights open and close doors and cabinets and turn on and off water and open and shut windows

I would have to say Yes.. This is the House i usd to live in awhile ago that so many things happened in it unexplained and now im back in it and so far nothing has happened but it didnt riht away before either im awaiting them to make their presence known again

i used to live in a haunted trailer a few years ago..i seen some stuff there...the 1 thing that freaked me out is when i seen a red face right by my bedroom door just staring at me,then a second later it was gone

ive been told me house is haunted, doors rattle and sounds like someone is walking around upsatirs, but ive not heard or sen anything, i also got told mt grandad was looking over me and lives in my kitchen (which is always really cold but calming)

The current home I reside in isn't haunted, but the one I previously lived in I believe was.

In the previous house, the master of the house had passed on in the bedroom on the floor above mine. He was a heavy smoker, and almost 10 years prior to my moving in, he had an accident at work where he was electrocuted. After that fateful day, he became a different person -- very angry and moody. I saw the man he really was behind all that and I soon befriended him (this was before I moved in). His pain grew over the years and he was prescribed lots of medications. Nothing of which took away the pains.

Well, on the day of his death I was wanting to be at his funeral and I couldn't find it. Being the non-smoker I am, my car windows up, because of the Winter season, I am pretty good at detecting smells that do not come from me or my surroundings.

I was in the wrong cemetery and I just out loud, asked where he was and if he could lead the way to the funeral home his service was being held in. Well, no sooner had I gotten back into my car, with no one around for MILES (I drove alone), I suddenly smelled cigarette smoke. And I somehow knew which direction to turn once I had started driving again. The cigarette smoke lasted all the way until I found the place, having driven by two other funeral homes along the way. I knew the final one was it, because I recognized familiar vehicles parked outside.

And for years afterwards, once I had moved into his home's basement (because his widow needed someone to help with the mortgage -- she lived upstairs, I lived downstairs), I found myself every now and again smelling cigarette smoke that would last maybe 5 minutes or so. No one in the house smoked, the house had been renovated and painted and re-sheetrocked. The windows didn't open, as they were old and rusted shut, so smoke smells couldn't have come into the home that way.

The best explanation for this that I can think of was that it was my former friend who'd come back to investigate and check up on me. :) If this is really true, I cannot say, but I like to think it is so.

I have not seen anything ..concrete to prove to me my house is haunted..it is an old house and it makes your usual creaking and settling noises at night yes..but i have seen doors open on and close on their own..but that could also be caused by drafts too..I was told that an elderly couple had lived here yrs ago..one nite after they had been married a very long time..the husband come home drunk..his wife stopped him on the porch cussing him and telling him to get out..and from what they say..he beat her to death on the porch..I have no way to really check this out..it is just stories people here have told..then others say they never heard it.I just know i have not seen anything to prove either way.

nope cant say that it is. i use to live in one with a disgruntled spirit though. he was a dick always getting me in trouble by breaking stuff my parents blamed me

I wouldn't say my house is "haunted" but there's some...Hm, spectral disturbance, I guess is the word for it. It's nothing really awful, just random music comes from corners, random bumps, voices, etc.

I've been to a "haunted" church. Once again, it wasn't outrageously awful but there were definitely some spectral hot spots.

My current house is not, but I used to think my old house was. I would hear noises at night, if I left my window open my curains would be pulled out of the window and jerked around. Not at all in the way wind would pull them. After a while though. I got used to it and didnt really want to move....

hisdarkestdream, I would like to know more about what you meant by the land being entangled with the house. Did you mean that the pressence of an old house could still be there, without the house actually being there?

yes i do beleive my house is haunted. when one walks in they feel uneasy and a different type of energy. not to count that the dishes rattle and and at times others that visit here have seen things as well.

I do not believe that my house is always haunted.... I believe we get visitors. lol. My wee one has a friend named Chad.... hes probably round 5 years old....... Sometimes they play nice, sometimes she doesn't want to be round him because she says he is mean to her.... I have actually seen him.... he is very fearful of adults. However, he has started to get a bit more use to me.... There have been others pop in and out, but no I do not think my house is always haunted... just the random visitor paying us a call.

My isn't haunted per say,There is a spirit or two,They don't ramsack the house or anything but they do tend to keep me up some nights moving around.

We just recently moved into our new home and weird things go on .Like we didnt even have our tv or stereo hooked up and I was in my room trying to go to sleep and I heard weird noices like people talking but it was all staticy. Then the shadows started to appear and the room got really freeezing I ended up sleeping on the couch for a few nights . I ended up having some friends do a cleansing and protection ritual of some kind and nothing has happened since.

I live in a house thats over 100 years old.. I know at times when we are all downstairs you can hear someone walking around upstairs. and its not the house settling . Its clear heavy footsteps

Perhaps I can find a genuinely haunted house to explore. I seem to have an affinity for old, abandoned places that have supernatural phenomena occurring within them.

I personally have never lived in a haunted house, but i have lived in the the same apartment building where a haunted house was said to be, i never heard anything, but i was told that the people who lived in the apartment next to me could hear voicec comming through the walls at night...

yea my house is haunted weird stuff happens in it alot i hear noises all the time plus our stuff comes up missing all the time. the other house we lived in was to heard noises in attic and lights went on and off tv to so i know what ya mean i tryed researching our house but idont have enough info so that didnt work out so much. i even e-mailed ghost hunters to come in but never got a response back. kissses&deadlybites always

Yes...When im alone in my house and im in my room listening to music or doin homework or something my door will open and close a numerous amount of times...i dont mean the wind opens it...i mean i lock my door and close it and it opens and closes a couple times. i think its the supernatural energy of my lost family or memories

Houses are not the only places that are haunted. A friend was in a hospital for tests in a room in the oncology section. No cancer just an available room. She was visited by two spirits during the first night. One was an older gentlemen who talked with her while he ate potato chips. The other was an elderly lady. I guess they died in that room and stayed after death.

My puter is haunted, ghosts all in the "machine".. But yeah, there's a few spirits running loose in here, they're particularly rambunctious when I dance around late at night. Dancing can draw them out if you need to know if your house is haunted.

And hospitals... If you don't have to, NEVER EVER fall asleep in a hospital, your dreams can make you loose your mind, no...joking about it.

Hospitals ARE the MOST haunted places I've ever witnessed!! Twice as haunted as the oldest graveyards!!

I've lived in several haunted homes before and actually wish one of the ghosts had moved with us. She was just your average sweet little 8 yr old who happened to be dead. We all grew to love her.

Every house I have lived in has had some “activity”. I wonder, at times, if it is based on an individuals perception of such things. I do in fact believe everyone has a different level of receptiveness to the supernatural.

For example, where I currently reside, my bedroom door opens and closes when I am not in it, and the doorknob is jiggled. My mother and I have been sitting outside of our rooms every time this has occurred. It’s so common, that we have all become accustomed to ignoring it. That is just one of many examples I could give.

The dorms are haunted...binding a spirit to a piece of furniture is a bad thing to do.....

yes my house is haunted.. i lived in this house since i was a little girl and live with m mom. this was her moms and dads house. will my moms mom has past away when i was a little girl and i must have been 7 or 8 yrs old. well everyone in the house was sleeping and i had past out in the living room. then all of a sudden the radio had came on and the pots and pans my mom had hanging in the kitchen started banging. i was so scared i couldnt move. my mom had thought i did it and i said no it was me.. and we believe it my moms mom watching us and letting us know she is with us watching. she still comes around from time to time. i cant even get my friends to come over and stay cause they get scared and they tell me they feel like they are not wanted. its pretty scary

yes it is....ive caught a glimpse of some of the spirits a few times....and i can just sense them...ive probably got 13 or so...havnt seen them all or had any of them really do anything yet...still getting use to each other....but theyre all decent...ive seen to that well enough...hehe

Not the house that I currently live in, but both of the previous two were. In one, you could hear footsteps on the stairs at night. In the other, things would move "on their own."

Joe just likes to play jokes.living or dead hes still up to his old tricks so to speak, he loves to lock doors. then when you go get a knife or something to open it itys unlocked. he also loves to play the music box he gave me
