The time has come where all "I agrees" will be thrown to the dogs… If a thread is interesting, trust that we know this already... If you want more information, keep reading and don't ask.

Now is the time that we are going to hand out special suspensions for all those nonsensical postings that do nothing but bother the biddies to insanity.

Be ye warned: if we delete 3 of your silly posts, you will start out with a one day posting suspension... if you continue to ignore forum rules after a suspension you will get a week to think about these woes… thrice- consider your posting rights to be gone with the wind.

Need ye be warned that indeed it starts with this thread... arrrr!

No it does not. If you had read the VR manual you would see in the forum section that these types of posts are specifically pointed out as not being within the posting standards.

Freedom of speech is not the issue here; this is a privately owned website. Be thankful for what is allowed.

Freedom of speech does exist here on the rave you are free to make all the I agree I do … Sorry I don’t live there post all you want in your journal. Some people work hard to come up with these thread ideas to just have them cluttered up and closed because of post that have nothing at all to say. I’m glad to see our forum will be cleaned up again!

freedom of speak exist, its the abuse that is being prevent and stop, there is a difference between speaking and abusing the right to speak but spaming around the forums simply to boost your post number, many have posted things like:
thanks for the info
Cool
Thankx
I would like to know more
Wow
ect...
I wont list them all, but those are the ones who do not free speak they abuse it and simply filled the htread with nonsense content that simply anyoed and cause a lost of time to those who go back to see the progress of the discussion to only find:
cool
thank you

Most people are likely to agree with the admins on this one. Posting pointless 1-2 word answers is a foolish and pointless attempt at throwing in your two cents without actually contributing to the conversation. Free speech is limited, and sorry to break it to you, the people have NO SAY in what the admins do. Cancer and his "minions" (sorry, just entertaining the idea) make all of the rules, and you can't do anything about it. Don't like it? Leave.

I'm sure there are other members in VR who have this problem, but sometimes I have no idea how to respond to a forum, though I'm interested in the subject. How am I supposed to react to that? No comment at all? Doesn't seem fair when I am interested. But is, "I'm interested in this, but don't know what to say." An acceptable post? I think you're saying that it's not. Ok, so, what do I do then?

If you have nothing productive to contribute. Don't post. If you're interested, do some research, form an opinion, then share it. What do you accomplish by simply stating that it interests you???

You keep reading until you have something to say, or to specifically ask.

Just like here, you posted an articulate question that is related to the topic. If you do not have one, then wait- chances are you will have one as the discussion evolves. Not every topic has to posted on, esp if you do not have something to add.

That's great, but it still doesn't contribute. Sorry, but few, if any, people care whether you're interested or not. Add something to the conversation or stay out of it. How would you react in real life if someone interrupted your conversation by saying, "wow, this interests me" and then walks off? Same thing applies here.

Not sure if what I have to say will matter in the manner of continuing the conversation but when I saw this... I read it. I went to the VR Manual and reread the part about posting on the Forums to refresh my memory on the posting. Sure I make my posts in the sandbox to have fun and I know I've said the comments about being interested in things. But Louts what's the point of being such a smart butt about it?

ummm... duh. I mean something like a message, or a new box specifically for that reason. Just because I see things differently and have different opinions, it doesn't make me an idiot, or that I'm wrong. I could be, but I might not be.
VR dose have the right to sensor what goes into their forums, giving warnings are a good idea also. But what's new about this update? Doesn't VR sensor the posts anyway? Is this just a reminder post, than?

The rules are simple. I, too, have been frustrated beyond words when I see an intelligent post, SOME intelligent responses, and then a ton of trivial quips and quotes. What ever happened to research? Is it that difficult to open a new window, visit the appropiate web-site, and give an articulate, intelligent response to a post?

Nite, love, it very well might be complicated for some people. Sometimes people see the easiest things as the most complicated. Research to form an opinion requires people to do more work than they feel necessary. So it's easier to just say I agree or wow that's interesting.

If an individual has the time to post such mindless answers, then he/she has the time to research and form an opinion on the subject matter at hand. Tis not difficult to google or use ask.com. The admins have enough work to do, they don't need to be bothered with closing threads that make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I know by personal experience that they do delete those post or deit them, just making sure it wont turn the thread into chaos, but still making sens.
I saw diffamotory post and disrespectful, being edited and some ven being deleted. The thing is that the Dominar cannot see everything sadly, but they do 100% of what they can, the best option when you see somethng like that, just tell one of them, and they will take care of it. Fast!

Well I have always tried to post a good if not educated response to the forum threads that are up and I agree that the one liners are hard to deal with, when you know that there are so many people out here who really have put so much thought into what they have put up. It is only fair to put as much thought into a response otherwise it just seems like an insult to the person who posted the thread in the first place

I, on occasion, have gotten the bug up my arse to go through all the Events, Meets Topics and delete stuff like that.

People DON'T listen and are DENSE. They see their post is missing but HEY! Let's post again.

Anyways...

If you are interested in a topic.. then read it.

If you don't have anything to say than don't.

If you post because you just want to up your status score.. don't.

If you post because you just want to be obnoxious.. don't.

If you want to post to see your name in the thread.. don't.

If you want to post to flame someone.. go ahead.. BUT I am sure you'll get a VR time out. It will keep us busy. heh.

If you want to post because you really want to put information on the topic and talk about it with everyone else, then go right ahead!

So with stating that above.. I guess some people should never be posting again.

heh heh.

Being the grammar nazi that I am, what is going to be done, if anything, about the woeful lack of grammatical accuracy in answers? I can understand people who are from another country, and English is not their first language. But for the people who live and supposedly go to school here in the States and other English speaking countries, why can so few of them write an answer in intelligble English? I have the feeling that many have very interesting answers, information to pass on, and worthy opinions on the subject. But I end up skipping many of them because they are unintelligble and unreadable. And so many engines support a spell check, even for this site, such as firefox, so why not use them? What good does it do to have an informed opinion, if the way you write it makes you look stupid because it isn't spelled correctly, so that others can read it?

That's the problem with the internet. It is almost always slang. I hate seeing the gr8 and things like that. Granted I don't always use great grammar or punctuation I do not type anything online LiKe ThIs. That also annoys the heck out of me. It all depends on the maturity level of the person typing the response.

I'm glad to see I wasn't the only person to throw out a spontaneous "Hallelujah" when reading this thread. I really want to thank the Dominars for being proactive about this problem.

And since we're discussing annoying posts on threads, I would like to submit: People whose posts consist of one sentence padded out with a generic quote.

Frankly, I think the phrase "People fear what they don't understand." should be banned from VR altogether, as so many people use it as a cop-out for real, thought out responses.

Not that I would ask anyone to actually waste their time patrolling for that, but along with 'one-liner' responses and mangled grammar/spelling, it is one of the single greatest obstacles to meaningful discussion on VR.

Trivial idea...

Fail to follow the rules or instructions, get punished.

I like it!

Another cool idea would be to require a minimum number of characters to a post in order to get credit for a post.

Death to the one-liners!

the sandbox sort of dont count as the post you do in it are erased at midnight. So what you do in the litterbox dont count, only what you do elsewhere counts so make it count make the effort to make it count and contribute as for word count letters ect...dont think it would work, cause many could just write non sens in more letters.

Thank you for pointing this out. I must acquiesce to the point that the one word posts are rather annoying.

A suggestion to those who would like to post and can not find the words to put down... thesaurus.com and dictionary.com

These are two sights that will help you find the right spelling, grammar oh and if you don't know what something means it will give you that as well.

Thank you to the Dominars who are taking their time to make our fourms a better place to post!

Its about friggin time we had a little bit of authority in the forums, more than usual...I am quite sure the doms will have plenty of work ahead of them, a bit more than usual.

Friggin kids with the one hit wonders just trying to boost their post status for level gaining, it gets tiresome wanting a real answer instead of just an idiotic two word or have sentence. Mayhaps now, people will learn, not only proper grammar, but how to paragraph as well.

My ranting has ended, thankyou for reading.

Theshining1, no one is saying that kids can't "climb the ladder" just like everyone else, all that we are asking is that if they post here, they actually contribute something to the topic at hand. That they are not just merely focused on getting their forum posts up there.

I think that sometimes people only post the i agree and such because they either don't know about the subject and can't leave an opinion or that maybe they might feel a bit stupid leaving their opinion for fear that someone will make fun of them for their opinions. But then again they might just be doing it to get their ratings up.

The rating bit does make a differance to some, but the fear of others convictions is a RL issue that reflects psychologically with the individual. Not knowing the differance when it comes to the online forums. Some figure it is a place to vent, while others take it quite seriously.

All in all, I am again glad the forum authorities are in place, makes society here actually speak out instead of the "kids" as they seem to be named, run a muck.

Ok lets try this again... since I was logged out in the middle of trying to type this up, lost it all.

Wow... glad I copied this post or I would have lost it a THIRD fracking time...

I have to say I am a bit shocked by the utter intolerance given to so many others from this thread alone. While shocking, guess I shouldn't be too suprised, this is the internet afterall.

If I may make a couple statements on a few things posted in here.
I've assisted in running a forum for many years now, memberbase of over 60k and a pretty decent return rate. One of the things that I have found to be nice is the 'subscribing' feature in the software.
While I do not know how these forums work or what was used to make them, I am curious. Would it be possible to do something similar on here?
Simply watching for the 'NEW', at least for me, does zero to no good in following a thread that I might be interested in. I've replied to a few threads on here that were interesting and honestly lost track of them due to having no idea where the thread ended up at. Bouncing up and down so much I loose track.
As for the spelling and grammar, ah yea well good luck with that. I do understand that sometimes people can post in a way that is utterly mind boggling. Just trying to follow what they are trying to say can be horrid at best. Keep in mind, there are not only folks from other parts of the world where they never really use english, there are many out there who are simply dyslexic and do the best they can.
Granted not much can be said for those who TyPe LiKe ThIs all the time.. eesh. Don't know how they do it, drives me nuts just trying to type that out.

Well this just sucks, I can't recall everything I typed out the first time I wrote this out. hrmph....
Well, take all my meager ramblings with a grain of salt or actually read it and maybe get an idea better than anything I post or could post. Your choice.

PontiusPilate,

I'm not really sure that you had a point to make there, but let me put it bluntly to everyone.

If you don't make the effort and follow the rules, then you must expect the consequences.

The situation has been laid out quite clearly for you and those that fail to adhere, will be punished.

This is a forum modelled on vampire society, so consider how that will play out if you act inappropriately.

This issue is most likely being enforced because of pointless, one sentence posts that is horrendously prevalent in almost every thread on this site. I haven't seen one yet that didn't have at least one (sans for those that are closely monitored by the respective parties to have said posts removed). It is the feeling of most, or nearly most, that the above stated posts are mostly made just to get your stats up. I mean, the more posts you make, the more points you get...right? Right. But maybe if you posters of one-liners out there were to spend the time (oh yeah....time on the site earns the most points doesn't it?) to conjure up a well thought out response to the thread in general...or even to the post previous to yours...then you may not only gain the status you crave so badly, but you might also establish some rapport with your fellow members. All that being said, I too, have been known to post random, off subject, completely pointless posts...but I also counter them with other pointless rambling...but well thought out, posts like this one. :-)

Thankyou Sahahria for sorting this out. I was beginning to dispair with some of my posts and some people were just messing them up with stupid one liners such as 'i agree', i find this interesting etc I always thought if you agreed or found it interesting at least state why and add their own opinion to the thread!!

I don't see what all the fuss is about. I mean, usually by the end of the initial topic post I know if I have something to say reguarding the subject...if I do, I post, if I don't, I click the happy little back button on my browser that takes me back to the forum page so I can choose something else to read about. It's not a violation of our right to free speech if no one wants to see/read posts that have NO bearing on the topic being discussed. It's simply making reading the forum topics less likely to make your eyes bleed.

I do agree that people need to pay attention to where they post threads, and yes, some of the immature posts do need to cease, but this is a forum and there are rules to abide by.

I think this is a wonderful idea. Far too often, I find an interesting thread that I want to add my input to, but it is littered with "cool" or "I agree" far too often for me to want to wade through all the BS to find the valuable contributions. Or worse yet, it gets closed on length before I have a chance because of all the BS posts.

If you agree with a thread, say why you agree, how it relates to you. If you find something interesting, ask questions so that you can learn more about it. There's no need for nonsense posts such as "cool" or "wow." Those are just annoying, and they show the rest of us that all you're doing is bumping your post count.

The same thread subject will run rampant no matter what, that is what the doms are there for, the thing I am interested in are the ridiculous RIA's that the "kids" do not read the forum guide lines for, that are silly questions and not valid topics. I just wish the rules and guidelines were set up as the very first default welcome message their profiles recieve. Sounds like a plan to me. Would hopefully slow down the single word posts as well.

Freedom of speech most certainly exists here on V.R.
Posting "I agree" in a thread isn't exactly speaking. If you have something pertinent to say, then say it, otherwise why leave a post at all. There is enough babbling done in the Sandbox to get your posting levels up. Granted, you may have to post on a daily basis, but then it really doesn't talk long to say nothing but I agree. It's kind of like running through and rating profiles with out reading them.

The rules have been this way for quite some time. This is nothing new. I am actually shocked that more rules haven't been created...This site is actually quite flexible and fair. If you know how to handle yourself...

There are just a lot of people who can't understand it no matter how many times they are directed towards the VR Manual.

I have never, in my years of being on Vampire Rave, felt like I have been censored. Exactly what are you trying to express that isn't allowed? You want to show nipples? What is it that makes us oppressed?!?

This is Vampire Rave, it was made by Cancer...Rules are rules, and they are fair...I would love to see people's reactions if the Dominars weren't doing anything at all in the main forum...Ohhh the complaints...

Dominars deserve our thanks, and a lot more. If I can ever make shiny pretty graphics for any of you let me know hee hee ^.^

Thanks sahahria for the reminder. I'll do my best to behave. :)

Here here, the word from Many a sire...From Sahah, to Morri, to any unnamed...Even RC...Lessons have been taught. Now to live and learn from them and adhere to them. I would love to but won't add a poll as to how many actually love the single word posts rather than a whole paragraph just to pass the time and status.

Wisdom comes with time, not just with age. As well as experiance. On the VR, exprience is a must in any situation, so I have learned, and experianced.

So..Whats basicly being said is, If you dont say something constructive you will be warned for it?

Isnt that abit Harsh? (Note the captial H)

Alot of the subjects on here have probably been discussed a 1000 times, take also into consideration that some people may just not find most the subjects interesting. Though, the more posts you post, the more "Experience" points you gain, are you really going to warn someone for trying to reach a higher level?

DeadRoses, even if many subjects are beaten like a dead horse, there are always new members such as yourself that would bring new ideas to old subjects. With each thread, no matter how similiar it may be, there is always a bit of individuality to it, always new ideas within. You just have to read through it to find them.

As for posting for the sake of gaining a higher level rather than for the sake of being part of a conversation... thats what the sandbox is for. There are plenty of threads in there like "This or That" and "A-Z" something-or-other to satisfy that need of power posting.

Your entitled your public opinion but if it's pointless, like something along the lines of "I don't know" then no one really cares.

Some clarification is needed, I feel.

We are not 'minions' of Cancer, we are paying members who volunteer on his behalf.

This is not a recent development, but a reminder of how we operate the Forum. It is truly astonishing how many posts are deleted on an almost daily basis. It's certainly in the hundreds.

And the Sandbox will ultimately not succeed in permanently increasing a post score. It is a temporary measure, since those posts do not contribute to the core concept of the site.

DeadRosesForDeadHearts- The Sandbox threads never stay, while if you post in the general forum, and when the thread is RIP'd, then your posts will stay. If you're looking to level up, just posting in the sandbox is more difficult.

Stabb,

Minions, I think, is supposed to be a term of endearment in this case... after all, those (including myself) who have used it in this thread all seem to be thanking you.

And yes, while this warning IS based on the same rules that have been in existence since... well, a very long time ago, the reminder that no bull shit is tolerated is a great thing. It's like... a boost of morale for those who take time to post in the general forum, and a reality check for those who post... bull shit.

I dont agree
Interesting information

Among many of things already stated that annoy others, one of the things that annoy's me to no end is the people who post without reading any of the other posts besides the opening post. I don't know how many times I have posted information about where to go to find some answers if I could not personnally provide them, and all I got for the trouble of doing that is "I have already looked there so everybody stop telling me to go there!" and then ten posts later of the same thing, the person says "o.k., I will have to go and look there for some more info." When I see that, I just want to reach through the net and smack them a good one. I grow increasingly tired of seeing response's like that and wish that people would read all posts before posting themselves because that is just another way to make themselves look ignorant as when they post the one word/line answers. Okay, I've read the manual, I've read the posts, I understand the rules. However, there is a lot being said about the one word or short sentence posts, or the non-sense humorous posts on what some would consider, serious thoughts. But a post doesn't have to be short or humorous to be inane or inappropriate. A long rambling response that says nothing or that contributes nothing, would seem to me, to be even more distracting and more problematic than the short ones.

Hottubmolly, your "humour" is not appreciated. I do nothing but try to hold the rules Cancer put in place. They are not my rules.

If you have issues (which I might add it sounds like you from your sarcastic remarks) then you should not have agreed to the TOS of Vampire Rave.

As for me, out of 841 days that I have been a member here, I can say that the "I agree" posts I have done - were deleted. As you can see, I have posted less than 1 post per day here on the rave. My silly posts to the sandbox were deleted as well. Prior to the purge that Cancer did several months ago I was well over 1200 post at that time.

So no, I have not just said- "I agree".
