I was wondering peoples ideas on miracles, real or fake, and if anyone could talk about possible miracles they've witnessed.

my brother was born, extreamly sick, and was close to dying for a long time, and before the doctors gave up, he recovered, i believe that this is because my brother, and i with my parents never gave up! this is a miracle to me, the others like crying statues and such i do not believe in, because i don't believe in one all powerful being.

A miracle is an event that is beyond the natural. Personaly I do think they are real but misunderstood at best.

In my opinion a "real" miracle would be something that God, god(s) or any of the non human powers would do in favor of humanity.
However people have the power to affect change, to heal and so on. Its a matter of the mind if you know what I mean.

You tell me. I have a friend who could not stop drinking. Her life was going down the drain. She had hit a psycward and a jail in one week. I was sure I might see her die. She asked me why she could not get clean? I told her that if she had God in one hand and AA in the other there would be no way to pick up a drink. With that, a Rainbow flashed in the sky from my right hand to my left.(true) She asked me if it was a good sign, and I said it was. It was a sign of a promise, like after the flood in the Noah and the ark story. To top this off, she spoke for my anniversary that year. She was sober at the time. The celebration was held outside in the courtyard. After she spoke, she went to sit down, then pointed to the sky above us, and there was an other rainbow. She went out again, I guess the disease was not finished with her. Today she has over three years. She is a miricle.

I believe in miracles to an extent. A car accident that is deadly, and someone come out without a scratch, such as my friend Cassandra. Thats a miracle in my eyes.

i know of quite a few. my fiance was born a month early was 2 lbs 4oz and spent 3 months in NICU. he is doing great now.

one of my friends was in an accident. car ran a light and hit him from the side . it threw in almost 30 feet in the air and he landed on his neck/head. (he was on a motercycle stupid on his part lol) he should have died but he didnt. hes up and walking and doing great

Miracles in my view are just another word to discribe a certain event in an individuals life that has no other possible explaination. Most would call the good events miracles and the bad ones Curses. How odd.

I would say I a 50/50 on this one, as depending on the event, I will beleive it is a miracle and other times that it is simple coinquidence.

I have always seen a miracle as something that defies explanation. I have seen miracles, such as those healed unexplainably and such and for the most part they were real. I have found them to be wonderful for those who believe.

I do believe in miracles I have to....I have seen some of the people I am very close too live through too much not to believe. I have gone through stuff myself but in comparison to one particular friend I haven't been through anything. She is alive and kicking and her attitude the Gods and Goddesses bless her...she is still such a beautiful spirit....she is my miracle always will be.

I think one persons miracle is another persons coincidence etc.

For myself it pleases me to think that yes I have witnessed miracles, but mostly far too personal to talk about.

My Father served in the army and did not believe in God....but alot of what he witnesed he could not explain.

I do believe in miracles. I think they happen all the time. It doesn't mean that everyone believes them to be miracles. I think there are people too, who need to believe in miracles. Who need to know that it is possible. I knew someone who had a friend with Lupus. (Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease.) There is no known cure for Lupus. THe woman was very sick. Then one day she went in and there was no trace of the disease. She did a complete turn around and the doctors were amazed. I know this has happened to cancer patients too. They go in for a treatment or an xray and the cancer is just gone. There are lots of miracles out there.

I believe in miracles. I think that they happen in more ways then something that it totally obvious. I think that they happen like that as well as I think that they happen in small amounts and in many different ways.

My sister was born with 6 months and was always very sick, or very prone to get sick... and when she was 19 started developing a kind of Hydrocefalia ...
we thought she'd die... she got three surgeries in her head and now, she's 25 and she finished studying and she's working... and absolutely normal... She's a miracle...

I really do not believe in miracles, i mean alot of times a person will say that is a miracle when someone gets into a car crash and they come out of it unscratched, but really they were just lucky i personally do not see how that is a miracle...

Miracles are possible! Like the Lady of Lourdes and such. I believe in those things rally having happened. Life itself is a miracle!

I believe in miracles very strongly

my nephew was born from my sister(sick with a few different things) and his father who is not in his life any more(a drug addict)

so technically he should be a bit slow according to scientific studies...but he seems to be learning much faster then the average child

A miracle is something that defies any reasonable explanation. I have never witnessed a miracle

but might be that ppl are amased by the things wich they dont understand in detail, so they call it miracle, out of the lack of information.

Ah my response to this should be quite long and for that i apologize.

I was raised catholic. but that has nothing to do with my response. When i was born, my dad was in a car accident. He was supposed to die. He did not. My dad was never the religious type (he passed away 2 years ago) and he never really talked about beliefs or faith. even after he recovered from this accident. But when he woke up after 2-3 months or so in a coma (my mom wouldnt let them give up on him) the dr's realized he would be paralized on the left side. my mom wanted him alive either way.

He did wake up. and when he woke the first thing out of his mouth was "I met Jesus" My mom thought it was the drugs. ANd he went on to tell the most amazing story. He was in a field full of wildflowers, and he could smell them. and he saw a man, it was so bright he couldnt see the mans face. and my dad said to him, "where am i" and the man said you are home. and my dad said that he couldnt stay there with him right now. He just had a baby girl (me) and he has another daughter and wife that he has to take care of. The man touched my dads left shoulder and said "you will be fine, take care of ur family" and my dad said, "Thank you I will be back when Im finished."

I know that sounds so hokey. But my dad woke up not paralyzed. but he did however have really bad brain damage. he forgot a lot of things, his memory was bad. but that is the only story that never changed. he remembered it detail by detail.

My dad passed away one month after i graduated college. He did wat he told the "Man" he would. take care of his kids and wife. The most thing he wanted for his kids was to go to college.

I believe his whole life was a miracle.

Well, you know.. miracles don't come with big flashing neon signs that say

They tend to be a lot more subtle.. so if you ever "saw" one, you probably wouldn't even realize it until long after the fact....

yes i believe in miracles they just never have happen to me but my sister her daughter was born with a hole in her heart and was hospilized for weeks they didnt think she would live because she wasnt developed enough but through many nights of praying she pulled through with flying colors and now is going to be 18 in dec she lives a completly normal life. That to me was a miracle

Miracles, I think little miracles happen everday, this is a hard topic i think to go into with out jumping into personal beliefs, so i will just jump. As a Roman Catholic, we are taught to look at anything extraordinary from a scepticle point of view, from to possesion to the stigmata, simply because people are people. I don't want to take up too much room on here but if anyone is interested message me.

I know miracles happen everyday.
Some one is born, some one is healed, someone is cured without medical aid...
Some miracles are as said above...things that are not noticed by many until later.
I think it's a miracle our society continues on.

I think miracles do randomly happen on some occasions.

another, happened to the same brother, and was part of the reason one of his nicknames is Ironman, he was about 7 years old and was crossing the street to go to a friends house, when a Porshe Boxster ran a red light, hit him police estimated him at 24 feet in the air and falling 26 feet behind the accedent, he got up dilusional afterwards walked to the side of the street and passed out, when my family got to the hospital, the doctors were dumbfounded as he had no broken bones, only minor bruising and small cuts.... this is a miracle.

i dont think that their are miracles their are lots of people out their who are good people but nothing good ever happens to them

Everyday i usually experience miracles. I have strong faith. I let the universe bring to me the things I desire. I say if it is ment to be it will happen. I do put in the foot work when there is a need.Life is full of little syncronisities. I think of a forgotten friend, the next thing you know, I see them.
Here's a trivial story, but true. I got left over bread fron a lunchin. I didn't need it, so i drop it by my sister in laws and I leave. Later, she tells me that she need bread andevery time she went out she forgot to pick it up. She wanted to know how I knew.
Books like "chicken soup for the soul" are filled with miraculous stories.

Gets annoying after awhile hearing what some claim as a miracle. Even JC never got excited about them. According to him they are as natural as breathing. Another miracle to some. The real miracles do not seem to be luck but personally influenced by someone/s other than the person receiving it. Miracle don't just happen by themselves.

A lot of the bad that happens to people, good people and bad, they bring upon themselves. Same with miracles. If you are open to them then they can happen. And if you are open to them then you recognise them when they do.

a few years agon i got accused of something that id rather not mention and 3 people jumped me to the point where i almost died, but i gained whatever strength i could muster and got to a main street and got taken to the hospital

Some would argue that you were lucky or that coincidence was involved, or that it just wasn't your time. But to you, and that is the only one to whom it matters, it was a miracle. The great thing about personal miracles is that no matter how hard some might try to take them away from you, it can't be done. They are still yours to believe in, and that makes them real.

I have witnessed miracles, but my opnion on them is that they are fate, they happen for a reason.

I have to say, miracles are often misconceived. People nowadays use the term "its a miracle" as a figure of speech...

Quite honestly, I don't believe a person miraculously healing from a disease or illness would be a miracle.
People surviving a fatal car accident, not a miracle.
The list goes on...

Some call it a miracle, I call it mind over matter and pure confidence/belief in yourself and others.

I do believe in miracles...the one I will speak of is my son...he was born dead strangled by my umbillical cord....he was dead for almost 10 minutes....I got to hold him and kiss him and tell him I loved him....before he was taken from me....as they were wheeling him away I prayed for his safe journey into the after life...then I guess the fates decided to send him back to me because the next thing I knew I heard him cry.....He's 3 now and perfectly healthy. So I have to believe.

Miracles...This one is confusing! The parting of the seas, if I saw that I would call that a Miracle. My X was in a serious car accident last year he lived..I have pictures of the car on Myspace. Looks like the person couldn't have possibly lived. Is that a Miracle? Or was it just not his time to go? See how this confuses me..I guess everyone has a story to their own Miracle. Or like birra posted they may be subtle and not even noticed. I have to be honest when I went to see the car after the accident and took pictures in my head I was saying it was a Miracle that he survived.

miracles i see one every day after having 7 miscarriges my daughter was born in may of 97 i almost lost her at 3 months just like with every pregnacy before 6 months of bed rest she was born with heart problems but she over come that too so i guess if you look around it is all in the perseption of a person what they consider to be a miracle

When i quit smoking 8 years ago i was near death and couldnt quit cold turkey to almost died then i quit cold turkey and am ok but started again this past year because a good friend of mine died that was like a father but now im at the point to where im quitting again soon.

I think miracles happen all the time with simple things like birth etc. But its the biblical open miracles that evade us now.

i believe miracles are real. When i was born my mom had hipotatous C ( i think taht how you speel it) and she died two days later. And well i didn't catch it i was also premature and wieght 2 pounds with breathing problems. the doctors thought that i wasn't going to make it over the night but i did! so i stayed in the hospital for about 6 weeks. and then my grandma took me home.

Miracles can be a personal thing... You can not convince a nonbeliever of their existence.. just a you can not convince a believer that they do not.. For the record I am a believer...

I agree with the majority Miracles are a personal belief and are defined by you as an individual.

I believe the sun rise & set is a miracle, giving birth, seeing people defie the odds and do things others thought were just dreams.

Others need something more major like walking on water or the dead coming back to life.

Its what you want to see as a miracle that's important.

I believe in miracles. Last summer my mom had a massive heart attack. While she was on the opertating table her heart stopped. The doctor got her heart beat back but after surgery she was having a lot of problems. Her heart rate wouldn't stay the same and it would flutter instead of beat. She stayed in the hospital for a week and a half. Me, my dad and brother thought she wasn't going to make it, but she did she made it through. Afterwards some of the nurses told me and my brother that they thought she wasn't going to make it because it was such a terrible heart attack.

I have to say that I most definitely believe in miracles. Here is the one thing that made me believe, because before this, I didn't believe at all.

My best friend was traveling at a high rate of speed on a motorcycle, when a car pulled out in front of him and stopped. He hit the car and was thrown almost 225 feet (that was including the sliding on the roadway). His face hitting the curb is what finally stopped his body from sliding. He should be dead. He broke every bone in his face, ribs, arms, legs, fingers, a hip, and feet. The full face helmet cracked in half and stuck into his throat. He was dead on the scene. But a doctor and a nurse that were traveling to work together happened to be right behind him. (And they never travel that route, and don't know why they did that day). The doctor performed a tracheotomy on the scene and performed cpr. They kept him alive until the ambulance arrived. He was transported to the nearest hospital, where it just so happened a prominent surgeon who has dealt with several extreme cases like my friends, was at the hospital for a lecture. Also, both of his kidneys were damaged so severely that they couldn't be saved, and his mother and sister were both matches, so he was able to get a kidney. And they said he would never recover, walk, talk, or carry on a normal life. But, he lives in Florida, works, and leads a normal life. Can all of those things be coincidences? I think not.

I watched my uncle come out of a coma and have full brain function when they said he would not

I think miracles are a personal interpretation. We get stuck with the biblical ideal of a miracle, but miracles happen everyday. From a firefighter saving someone from death to a soldier coming home from a war, to someone who goes against the odds and survives an accident or deadly disease.

I believe we are walking miracles and we all have the possiblility to do amazing things if we give ourselves a chance to.

Anyone who had ever witnessed a baby being born will tell you there are miracles. I belive firmly in them. Funny though because there aren't alot of things I will believe in without witnessing.

Every coincidence, every good bit of fortune, every prayer answered, every spell that produces results is a miracle to someone. Every breathe we take, every day we live, every one we hold is in it's own way a miracle. Yes Virginia, there really is a miracle.

i think that miracles are just the way there accepted by people.

i'm not sure of any miracles for me. i'm sure a lot have happened in my life, i just don't remember them. if meeting my boyfriend counts then yes, that's a miracle :)

Miracles do not follow logical expliantions but they are real. I don't know if I have ever really seen one but I am not saying i haven't because I believe they happen all the time we are just not always able to recongnize them for what they are. We only see the ones that are pointed out or we are personally effected by

Miracles to me is how one may see the event that took place .. Like a severe car accident that some one walks away from where as the same kind of accident someone dies in. Even like some one recovers from something life threatening, yet I also do believe it has to do with a higher power so they are out there just what one would consider one, just my opnion.

Every person perceives miracles differently.

I prefer the miracles in the medical world over those 'granted by god(s)'. They are more real too me and I can see them everyday. It makes them more believable to me.

I kind of lost faith in most miracles a long while ago because of personal reasons and experiences.

And I kind of lost faith in the miracles of medicine, though I work in that field. But you make great points.

A lot of people I know work in the medical field.

I have seen a set of twins born when their gestational period was only about 4 months and 2 weeks. They were in the ICU for two and a half months when I saw them. They looked so tiny and so fragile when I saw them.

I have also witnessed my nephew make it through three open heart surgeries because his heart was flipped and on the wrong side along with some other things wrong.

My dad lived 8 years past what the doctors had believed he would, which was amazing in itself.

Those are some of the miracles I have seen. The children's intensive care unit is a great place to witness the miracles of the medical world.

Were those miracles of medicine or miracles of hope, faith and the human spirit? I really don't know. But it still comes back to how we perceive them. You and I might see all of these things as miracles and yet disagree on what it was that made them miraculous. And that is the way it should be. I do admire your faith in science.

its a miracle that my brother is still alive! he wrecked his car. got out and started hitchhiking.......when the cops got to the scene........ the car was so badly damaged that they were looking for a "body" he was also 20 feet or so from going off a 100 foot drop off cliff....!!! wow!

The word miracle is used to try and explain some people don't understand and can explain. I do not believe in miracles. I believe in will power.

I am a walking miracle. I was born way too early was only a little over 2lbs. but I am alive and well and still here 23 years later.

i believe miracles are part faith and belief but he other part just plain miracle. i worked in a health food store for 8 years and believe in herbal medicines. i have seen people that were diagnosed with terminal cancers and other ailments get better with taking herbs, faith and just believing in miracles and that they could actually work. it is a combo of many things. and i guess just believing in something and staying positive in a negative situaltion.

I believe miracles happen everyday and a lot of people either don't want to believe because of the ramifications of what that means or they are just to wrapped up in their own little world to pay attention to whats going on around them and nothing i or anyone else says will change their opinion until it happens to them

We have a young woman at church who should have died last week (post cancer surgery) and she was released home only one week later. Yes I believe in miracles and the exreme power of prayer.

I think that miracles are just another form of magick, only in a divine sense.

I recently had a benign brain tumor removed and the possibility of having facial paralysis was great. While I did lose my hearing completely in my right ear and my balance nerve, my face is not paralyzed. That to me is a miracle.

If you would look about you... a rose, the sun rising, the everyday mundane life about you has miracles galore. The glory of breathing, enjoying life's journey. All are miracles!

It takes a trained eye and a grateful heart to see small miracles, but see you can.

as far as in believing in miracles..... i can say its possible.. that is for true miracles
and as far as in seeing miracles.... i havent seen any, unless my life is living for bad luck... but then again it can be carm hitting me but this is for myself

Something freaky happen to my mom after her mom died. She was praying on her knees at her mother's bedside (my grandma was already put to rest by now and everything)...anyway, my mom asked her for a sign that she was ok, in heave, etc. All of a sudden this huge bed came apart. The boards collapsed and frame broke apart...odd? Yeah...A sign? I think so :) My mom never prayed again for a sign to make sure my grandma was in heaven hahaha.

there is alot of coinsdences and miracles, some we will not know what is what, id say 50/50

I have an aunt who was told she had breast cancer and that there was nothing they could do for her. She was told to come back in one month; So she came home and told the entire family.

The whole family began to pray for her and one month later the doctors could not find a bit of cancer in her body.

It's perspective.

Each and everyone of Us have a perspective. How We veiw certian things. What We've been through up to this point in life all affect Our perspective.

In so doing, will effect what We look at as a miracle.

Basically, a miracle is an event that cannot be normally explained through the laws of nature. I feel that you must have an open-mind to fully believe in them.

ok, let's be more specific here. If you have ever studied everything that goes into the birth of a child. From conception to birth when the whole baby emerges from the birthing canal, there is so much that can go wrong but on the whole there is very little that does. It it not a miracle that most of us come into the work with everything we are supposed to have it works right as well?
