Is there a difference between blood lust and blood fetish?

Yes a very big difference.

Blood lust is when you want it and need it like you want and lust after a person or sex. You don't have to have it you just want it.

Blood fetish is when your obsessed with it and think of nothing else, like sex you are obsessed with it and want it all the time, but you feel you can't live without it.

I would say they are much the same. To lust after blood is an extreme fetish in my opinion.

I think its the same thing really cause if you are lusting for that blood you have a blood fetish cause you want it so much....

I've always understood bloodlust to be the desire for violence and wholly unrelated to vampirism or bloodplay. Someone is said to have bloodlust when they want to kill or show no remorse for physical violence. More of a psychological abherent behavior than some kind of fetish.

Thank you MaraJade - and I always thought the definition to be rather widely used in the world to describe those with violent tendencies. The lust for blood wasn't necessarily used as a lust to drink blood, just a lust or desire to cause bloodshed.

So in conclusion, bloodlust equals a craving of the blood, whilst fetish would equal the satisfaction they desire.

I believe there is a significant difference looking at it from my view.

Blood lust would imply a yearning, a compulsion to acquire and consume blood, or if you are a viking type, a need to spill blood in battle.

Blood fetish would be achiving excitement by observing blood, bleeding, etc. The person with the fetish would not need to actually consume or draw the blood, they just need to observe the blood or even feel it or bath in it. They don't need to consume it.

I think like a shark will go through a blood lust when they smell it they zone right into it and will go nuts to have it. as far as a fetish is concerned I think that is more of a sexual thing that is enjoyed but not something that you have to have.

I tend to associate bloodlust more with violence, and the fetish as a psychological need. I am sure the two are not mutually exclusive so there is probably a fine line there for the most part.

I believe it's the same thing because one of my best-friends is obssesed with my blood. He always needs it but at the same time he always wants it. There's times when I tell him no or if i'm not around he goes into these blood lust trippin moods that does scare me sometimes. The last time I let him suck my blood he wouldn't let go. I passed out from it. So I don't think there's really a diffrence because they both go togeather you can't have one with-out the other.

I find it interesting to see so many forms of interpretation for 'bloodlust' It never occurred to me that anyone would view it as anything other than the desire to maim and dismember.

Fetishists tend to have psychological, physical/sexual dependencies that do not transcend destroying the object of obsession. It would defeat the purpose of desire to do so.

That being said, I think you may just be dealing with a misunderstanding of terminology.

Ha...Well I guess I have to agree...they are both sort of have the idea of being sexual in nature but I think they are closely related although when the term blood lust comes to mind, I think of having the craving for...and not necessarily in a sexual nature where as fetish leads me to think sexual :)
