Lets assume that finally, the existence of Vampires was proven. That a female and a male was captured by authorities and were about to be submitted to various tests in order to figure out what they really were and what kind of danger they might pose to humanity.

What tests do you think they should be subjected to ?
What kind of reaction do you think the world would have to this break through?
What reaction would you have ?

The tests I think that should be done are something along the lines of if they can reproduce like regular humans or if it's like the legends say and they are A sexual. Also see if their blood has any significance. The world would probably start turning into this huge religious thing saying how it's the end of the world and the very religious people would just be effected the most I think. Since people assume that the vampires are the devils creation thanks to the first vampire who traded his soul acording to the legend. But I wouldn't be suprised if they did exist it's just more so how they got caught. Such careless mistakes are not in their type. I have to see to believe but I still am open minded that it's possible that they are out there. But it's hard because I have never seen a vampire that I know of.

If their existence was already public, the media would turn vampiric, all the talking heads would chime in: Evangelists would talk of God's punishment, Nader or Gore would point the finger at environmental causes, the morning shows would recruit their telegenic docs to quell an incipient panic in the public. Quacks would rush bogus products onto the QVC.

I think science would first test the limits of resistance to harm and death, performing quasi-Nazi-like experiments on the vamps, timing their heal rates, how long they can stay submerged, probing their anuses, the female's vagina measuring lubrication. They'd force them to have sex in an MRI tube.

Some scientists might try to isolate the blood aspect in order to use it to cure human disease w/o the human losing their life or altering genetically in some way.

Vampire Genes might be transplanted into rats.

Definately DNA testing, they would look for the reasona vampyre is imune to deseise and illness and also how they regenerate, I think it would leed to many medical breakthroughs. But I would feel for the vampyre for they would be treated less than human, I think people would consider them to be nothing more than animals to test on.

They would be rather harsh...I wouldn't want to know. It'd be sad.
I think it'd be okay to test on their blood or whatever...but they'd probably do a lot more. Probably worse.

PETA would have to start a new branch for vampires. Definitely there would be advocacy groups for the Prevention of Cruelty to Vampires.

I agree with Scortched. It would be sad what they would do to them. I don't want to think about it but I know some people would probably hurt them even worse because they can heal themselves and apparently vampires have no souls so they wouldn't show mercy on them. There are some sick and twisted people out there and it is rather sad what the world comes to when they treat humans. Animal cruelty has been so horrible to our society but I don't think that the people would care what happened to the vampires because they consider them blood sucking killers. Like a criminal in the death chair, they say the deserve it.

They would check the circulation system and do MRI's and such.

What if these two vampires, one male and one female were extremely violent to begin with? Their victims were torn apart and they took trophees with them. Would that influence the way they are being kept and tested in captivity?

My guess would be that the vampires in captivity would be tested much like Bloodmother says in an almost nazi or inhumane way. I'm sure we would try and see how they reproduce (if they can) and what alterations in their genes would result in an increase in strength. Not to mention that if the only way vampires can be killed is through sunlight and a stake, we would try and figure out what in their body keeps them safe from viruses, cancer, aids etc...

If they were violent then they would have to be sedated and restrained. The testing would be in the most inhumane way possible

I suspect that they would be put through every test mankind had to offer then killed and put through even more to see how they die and decay and what not.

i understand that science likes to examine things but to examine a vampire couple seems a little preposterous. vampires are much stronger and smarter than us so just to keep them captive and in a state where we could run tests on them seems fantastical to me.

There's nothing in the mythos to indicate vampire blood makes them smarter.

There's a certain instinctual savvy that may go along with the physical prowess, but only if the vampire has lived long enough to sharpen them.

This is not intellect. Fictionally speaking, they are not smarter than humans unless the author writes them that way.

We really have no complete idea of how the government tests much of anything but I am sure they would do every conceivable test imaginable and treat them like animals rather than any sort of human species.

the world would probably freak, and be frantic, not knowing how to act...etc...probably riot...and a small group of people, that i would be part of, would be amazed, excited...and just wowed, and an even smaller group of people would be thinking, yep, i knew it all along, hah! and you thought i was crazy! ...
And the kind of tests...? would probably be like blood, heart, exercise, sun, silver resistence...see how intact everything is, if it's decayed at all, check out the fangs, how vampire stomaches handle food, and how they fair with the absence of blood from their diet...and like tests...people'd most likely do the same tests on the newlyfound/discovered vampires as they use on humans...yeah...

Honestly no testing should be done unless they give you permission to, if the are unwilling it will not be right. In a way they are still alive, even though they are not legally. But still they are still humans...in some ways

This is a touchy subject, if you think about it.

I don't think people would want to hear it.

Vampires are a fear humans have had for a LONG time.
It would bring up a lot of negative emotions in people, and also a lot of positive ones too.

I would be a little nervous, but I always thought about the finding of real vampires as this: A part of nature! They would be another creature just trying to survive in the world... Just as lions prey on wildebeest to survive. *shrugs*

No test should be done against their will. Just because some thing is different than human dose not mean it is ok to treat them like mindless animals. If vampires are anything like the movies, books, etc.. that means they are sentient beings with thoughts and feelings.

Lawyers would be busy.

Other governments would fear the military use of any biologic weapons developed from vampire blood. They might hire bounty hunters to acquire their own vampire slaves. If they did, nuclear disarmament would be bookshelved, while governments discussed the new threat to security ---- vampire armies.

Capitalists and snake charmers would emerge from the woodwork: beauty creams enhanced with vampire by products. Don't ask. The FDA would get involved to insure the purity of the by products. Someone would start a Holistic Organic Vampire product line.

I would suggest a DNA test against the double vs triple helix of the jacobs ladder. This type of testing will result in an over all percentage, but said DNA aside from the vs method should be cross referenced with the same DNA structure of say, vampire bats or any other genome structure that resembles what society thinks a vampire should be in their eyes...The closest.

Interaction with Ultra Violet Rays
Curative properties
Infectious properties
Natural Immunities
Combative measures (both non-lethal and lethal)
Incubation process and length of time
All variables for peaceful existence
Preventative measures for humans in the face of possible co-existence

considering the twisted experiments that have been conducted on humans in the past, any vampire captured would be in for a horrible ordeal. the government would probably try to turn them into weapons that they could control.

I'd be sicked if this happened but i wouldnt be suprised. As for tests? I'd avoid all needles, knife's and whatever. Maybe take a blood test, test there physical strength, stool sample (Its all in the poo!) and yes, there intelligence.

By the way, i'm more of a beleiver in the hollywood vampire, so i'm assuming that they are mighty strong, fast and intellectually superior.

I actually never thought about it that way but the concept of them being turned into weapons that humans could buy is very interesting. It's a good theory. Sounds very human-like to do.

I would suggest a DNA and a Blood test as well to see what findings the medical professionals can come up with that would be my guess

Hideous tests I would not care to know about.

I would give normal human test see what was going on inside the body and then check teeth see if they really do have enlarged fangs. i would try to check the digestion systems to see how they work. I would also talk to them. i would want to know if they look at us as food and we are just pry to them or if they have a moral code just like us.

I don't think torch works to achieve anything. If you want to learn about something you do test and talk.

blood tests, Dna test but you know how much the government would go over board so who knows they might put them in zoos or even poke a prod them with many needles.

MRI, EKG. EEG, Nothing "intrusive" would be needed. Watching them feed, Wired up to all the machines, in active and in torpor. And if there is cooperation, phyc. test as well.

They would be put through to many invasive procedures to even think about. To disturbing.

What about an endurence test?

The test that they would subject them to would be posed only in our benefit range, which in turn would lead to probably large amounts of suffering to them. First they would start off by trying to eliminate the vampire "gene" from blood samples they have, but at the same time they would want to try to harness the things that help make them immune to disease and regenerate. Next they would want to learn from them in different scenario settings so we will know how to defend ourselves if the need occurs, such test would prolly include how they react to long terms without feeding and rest. how they reproduce (is the assumed a sexual idea correct?). what things actually do harm them? sunlight? garlic? amongst other things. then once they were well satisfied of their results more then likely the subjects would have their heads removed and their bodies burned

When it comes to media and public exposure I'm sure there would be a significant fair share of it, but in the end the things that we learn and see will be exactly what the agencies involved in all of this want us to hear and see.

i think no tests should be made just let them go on with thier lives as they were but our goverment would not have that

I think the general population would freak out to find that vampires exist and would cause extreme paranoia throughout the world.

I am taking a petition to the US Government to form the Vampires Affairs Commission (VAC) to form an 18 member committee to train the public regarding all things regarding vampires, to include the military.

I would assume dismemberment of some sort. Even if it did not kill it, it perhaps would be rendered incapable of escaping. Cut into several living parts, etc.

I think it wont be so much testing but as to how they can duplicate their DNA so that they can use their immortality to cure disease or stop aging. Using their killer instincts and super human abilities to create the ultimate soldier. Heck I think they would even use their blood for some way to contaminate and kill in warfare.

They would want blood tests done I would think see which they were suseptible to and other such things like that. Then when proven to be vampires they would probably be rediculed and prosecuted and then killed that is my way of thinking of it they are a possible threat to humanity so they would be eliminated. I believe they should be given a chance to show that they might be more than killers but I myself don't hold much sway to religious fanatics and the goverment.

I think the latter part of that might have happened 100 years ago. Society is a bit better than that these days.

This would be a test of many such as brain scans, blood tests, IQ tests, so many the vampires would be left undignified. I would hate anyone to be held captive like caged animals.

Why would they need an IQ test?

I think it would be somewhat like how things occured on the show, "The 4400".

At first the returned were accepted and families were happy because of the return of their loved ones.

But once their differences and powers were discovered, there were those who feared, those who were scientifically curious and others who wanted to use such power for personal gain and corruption.

The government and military would want to get their hands on these vampires--find out what made them tick, and find their weaknesses, and ultimately, find how they could genetically create their own "Super Vampire".

IT would be terrible to have these creatures of the night captured. The Government would be so cruel in all the tests that they would run. DNA, Reproductive testing, Intelligence and Strength Tests. They would not be happy until they had ran every possible battery of tests that they could find and Then would they still be happy with the results they found. Probably not.

Evil you are not the only one who thinks this is Cruel and Inhumane. But I am sure you know as well as do If someone whoever it maybe captured Vampires or any other person that was different( for example Mermaid, Siren) Anything that was unknown there would be a series of tests and such, that would be very invasive and humilitating. People fear the unknown and in order for them to make themselves feel better they must scrutinize and figure things out. This is the way it has always been and I am sure it will continue over the years.

I think captivity is wrong, vampires like other things that can feel should be free,unless they brought about harm to another human and/or vampire.Tests should not be done but if something were to be done I think a blood test would be okay. As for the worlds reaction most people wouldnt believe it and others would prolly think its a disgrace to all human kind. Me, as well for a few others, would be totally cool with the vampires and would want to become one. I was born human but would really consider becoming vampire ...I just havent been bitten yet.
