How does believing in and/or being a Vampire affect you in your personal life, with your friends, family and/or work? Does it have any repercussions? If so, how do you deal with them? Or are you accepted the way you are and if so, what would you advise those who aren't and are having trouble adapting to their beliefs.
Myself I dont believe or think I am a vampire. I believe if I did my family and friends would think me very made and proberly lock me away and throw away the key.
I am not a vampire, but i love the life style and due to some medical quwerks its a joke that i am one, i am anemic and have a sensativity to light, so i have a lot of red meat and blood and i have to limit my time in the sun or i get migrains.
It's difficult being anything "different" But depending on how strong your convictions are the approval of others shouldn't matter that much.
It took me 4 years to fully "come out of the closet" (as gay) but once I did things got much better. The same could be said for this subject.
If your a real vampire, not just a lonely teenager, and you would like to tell people then ease them into it. Don't just say "hey mom and dad..I'm a vampire!"
Through communication, self-respect and self control telling people will be much easier.
Of course not everyone will understand and some my throw holy water on you but thats just life. Obviously you wouldn't talk about something like this at work or church (unless it's called for) but I'm sure you get my idea.
I don't see, nor have I seen, issues with people coming out as Psy Vamps, it's much more accepted and can even be backed up with science.
Sang (blood) vampires would have a harder time and only by talking to a person subtly (at first) then directly about it would make the process easier.
Now if you simply don't care what people think then by all means go sharpen your fangs ;)
And don't forget to not take yourself to seriously. Keeping a major issue "light" can make all the difference in the world.
i graduated high school last year and most of the last 3 yrs of school i at home with migrains with the occational time i had to be hospitalised for them and the anemia. i don't have a blood doner as my partner wishes not to be one and i appreshiate his request.
In truth, my wife knows who and what I am. She has seen both proof and evidence to back my "claim". Whilst we are living together, irrational and unexplained events occur on a regular basis concerning myself. I will not go into detail, but the wife figures since we are married, she might as well deal with it and have a very open mind.
Regarding the community around my personal life, most of them are transient RPers, still surrounding themselves with the "masquerade" style of vampiric fantasy, as well as subjecting themselves to the "Black Veil" lifestyle. While it is quite easy to adapt as well as become jaded whilst in the mix of things, one must not forget where one actually comes from.
There are a certain few, that I trust as well as trust me after we have known each other throughout a course of a decade or so. Thus, we are involved with one anothers lives with open minds. Out of these certain few, a couple of them know my differances but treat me as an equal nonetheless. This is what, no doubt, friends are for...Is it not?
Most of my immediate family knows, but fortunatly for myself, they discard it as mere roleplay as well as a lifestyle choice. I am open to this judgement, since it casts less of a shadow on my behalf. Even if they know truly that it skips generations, but discard it nonetheless...More than likely out of ignorance and denial.
I mean really now, how would you feel if your parents were in a conversation and spouted out..."Yeah, my sons a vampire...But we love him through and through."
I think it's very important, especially for the young ones who chose this lifestyle, to be understood and accepted the way they are so that it does not create problems for them in the future.
I don't run around claiming to be a vampire. I am what I am, no need to put a label on it. My husband & friends no of my interest in vampires. My close family has no idea, my mother would be pouring holy water all over me. When I was younger I did dress a bit more unusual, but now days, I pretty much fit in with the rest of the population.
Psy Vampires have a lack of internal energy thus they need to find away of getting it, by draining it off of other people.
Science has shown that we have an energy field which surrounds our bodies. When that field is damaged we look for ways of fixing it. Two people in close quarters will begin to share their energy (knowingly or not).
The person who takes, is the Vampire and the person who gave up energy would be the host, donor etc..
This field acts like a barrier and external communication device. We use it to let us know if we're endanger, can use it to sense things we cant see, when they are combined you can use it for a sexual nature with your partner.
Quantum Mechanics states that all matter (living or dead) gives off an energy field. As long as we know how to take it we can us it.
Has their been any experiment which proves that the one may take from the other ?
Using special types of cameras you can capture the event. The most popular method is by using Kirlian cameras.
During a well documented programme I saw 2 individuals finger prints (of energy) and they were color coded so we wouldn't get them mixed up. We left to guys to sit apart for a while and study the natural actions of these "energy fibers" Man 1 had a robust energy signature while Man 2 was a smaller guy and had less of the markings.
Then they took M1 and M2 and had them hold hands for a few moments. After the film was developed you could very clearly see M2 finger tips were missing large numbers of the fibers and M1 had increased his.
**I hope I'm getting this across, Ive been up since many days ago lol**
most people don't understand me but i'm used to that by now. believing in vampires doesn't affect my life too much in the sense that my beliefs aren't necessarily shown on the surface and I don't really talk about it unless talked to.
I'm open about my interests, but my interests are not limited to vampires.
some times it can be hard for one to addapt to a lot of things but over the years i have found it easer to hind my vampiric side from the world it is aesyer that way i don't have to worry about anything.
with most things i think it takes time to grow and adapt to things, some may never acept being who they are where as others will grow with it in ease
With my friends I do fine, they accept me for who I am. My family, well they just think I'm weird. They don't certain things, but then they don't really need to. Publicly I'm normal, I look like everyone else. I don't feel the need to dress weird & freak people out all the time. To me that's just being flashy. The clothes and make up don't make you, you are who you are with or without it. So for me I feel it's easier to fit in & only let those that you trust know anything more.
i''ve always believed in vampires and everyone that knows me knows this. i just don't go around advertising my beliefs because i think its a little silly. the people who take the time to know me know very well what my beliefs are and for the most part respect them as part of me
I'd say my effects have been pretty positive. Coming from a different aspect of this convo....
Coming into myself and discovering my true vampyric nature, I take this part of my personality and use it to my advantage during my dayside life.
Side note. Souldshroude....my brother,
you seem to have a natural dis-taste for those that want to follow the veil dont you.
Its human nature to judge what they do not understand and it is to be expected if one chooses to live an extreme lifestyle. If you choose to dress in dark cloths you need to accept the fact that others will judge you for that and take it with a grain of salt. Is it wrong for others to judge you, yes, but does that give you the right to judge them back, no it doesn’t? I choose to live two separate lives, one where I associate with those of a more dark nature, and that life which I associate with those who do not. It causes some headache at times keeping the two separate, but I choose not to combine the two together.
Well thats funny you should ask. My friends(some) think I'm crazy to like ,believe and even be a part of VR.
Family, friends that are open minded to the world and
all the possibilities of what may and may not be true, think its cool. As for me I don't let what anyone think affect what makes me happy or intrests me.
lol well for me...there was a time my family found out my infactuation with vampires and they found me to be really crazy to even LIKE them. But...my husband didn't really care and my daughter really enjoys my experiences and stories about them. She goes "wow" all the time lol It isn't as hard to be yourself when you are living on your own and around those that ARE acceptable of it. What anybody else thinks doesn't really mean squat. It's like that old famous saying:
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
I am really open in anything I live by and I let people believe what they want to believe. I don't depend on them so why should I care further? I'm not a very social person anyway. I only explain myself to people that are actually close to me.
Most of my best friends are aware of my strange and unusual beliefs and/or interests. Any who don't agree with my beliefs or interests, I welcome an argument or debate with on those topics. If they still disagree or feel uncomfortable, they're not worthy of being friends and should seek new ones elsewhere.
I will only change my desire for those beliefs and interests according to my own needs.
My friends all like me for my differences and find them interesting, my family( not so enthused)lolol
you can't force "understanding" upon people who do not believe in who, or what, you are, that's like trying to make a Mormon out of a Catholic.
I think it does effect your personal life because you will be stronger than most humans
It doesn't affect your social life because those around you are normal into the same things as you are. If you have issue with family because of your beliefs you don't have to expose your family to them if you choose not too. My family isn't a real issue we are not that close. I can see it maybe issue for other if it is a fighting point with family.
i just dont let anyone kno im a wolf except those who are very close
I am not a vampire but interests in them have caused people in my circle to discuss me. I had a link to VR on my myspace page, you know, the banners....and was recently told by my ex-husband that at a party he attended they had brought up my name and the my profile at VR. It wasn't nice let me tell you. They found it shocking LOL, when he told me I was angry at first and then just shrugged and put it off to closed minds and the vanilla people that they are.
i am not a vampire and i dont belive in vampires, if i did it would seriuosly effect my schooling because i would devote myself to finding one and asking for a bite lol (just a small one tho)
I say this: If people can't accept you for who you are then they are nothing to look at either. So just turn your cheek and walk away their not worth any time or effort
Fantasy is a normal and healthy to escape as long as you know where to draw the line between fantasy and the real world. Sorta like the people that do the meny number of role-playing games out there.
I have to hide what I am from the folks I work with, none of them know. I suppose sometimes it does get tiresome not be able to fully let my true nature show. But I do like my paycheck so life goes on.
Well I'm pretty secretive about my interest in vampires and other occult matters, mostly because no one asks. If they ask I tell them the truth, but sometimes censor some things depending on who it is so they don't get too freaked out. And I find that most people are cool with my opinions just as long as I'm cool with theirs.
Mostof my friends and family belive in vampires too. But I did have a normal friend once, she thought I was crazy.
i try to associate with people who are like-minded with me, so that there are no surprises when i feel the need to feed..
I agree with you DasWolf. I think one needs a strong imagination but should set boundaries. I think this world would be a sad place if it was stripped of fantasy and imagination.
Adaptation is a key to survival. If you are not being accepted by those around you for a life choice you made, then they are not worth being around.
There are two options; One is to look for a place you would feel welcome and secure and learn by atmosphere. You'd be surprised how much one can learn from people watching. By hanging in the back of a crowd and watching, one can generally get the feel for the ebb and flow of the energy of the room. And of course you will feel at ease being around others who have made the same choices you have.
The second is a bit more difficult. Stay where you are and to the nine hells with anyone who doesn't like it. These are people that are shunning you because you aren't like them. Stay where you are and one of two things will happen;
One; You will adapt to this hostile environment and those around you will respect you (though most will never admit it) for staying and not fleeing.
And Two; The ones making the environment hostile will bugger off because you didn't leave. This is, in my humble opinion, the most desirable effect, because lets face it, who wants a bunch of jackasses dragging a room down with their intolerance. Once gone, there is room for tolerant people.
But that's just my opinion.
Evolve or dissolve~ Besides,it is always important to not only be able to fit into an enviroment, but key is to be able to thrive. That,is true adaptation.
My belief or disbelief in vampires doesn't cause any reprocussion or have any effects at all on my daily life. I keep my beliefs in real life to meself.
I think if I told my family I was a vampire they would have me commited. I do understand where you are coming from about being anemic and sensitive to the sun. I am the same way i have been anemic my whole life. So I do have to eat alot of high protein and red meat. The sun kills my eyes. I suffer also from migraines.
I keep my beliefs on that to myself. Most people condemn what they do not understand.
The effect is pretty much one that creates distance between myself and others...I feel that my pulling of energy (both physical & etherial) causes an effect that lets me see others in an objective way. I see through the mask (of others...maybe not myself so much) and feel their feelings of being alone and their pain of life. At the same time I feed off it and let their feelings wash over me as I take.

Sinora,I had a thread on this a few months back,I am trying to find it,but cant remember the name of the thread! Ill keep looking, but meanwhile, yes, there is pretty substancial evidence of this.
Mindcleaner - But the forums are for people to share what they believe. So share away. ;]

It doesn't.........
In the past, I've mentioned in passing my interest in vampires--with closed-minded people--there is an awkward moment of silence that seems to go on for an eternity--and you can hear the echoes of the proverbial "pin dropping" to the floor.
Like with politics and religion, I have learned to keep my interests to myself unless I know and trust someone well enough.
i just try to live life day by day im not really look down on for what i belive but i do know some that are
I don't believe in vampires, but I am very interested in them. My interest in vampires doesn't really affect my life or how people percieve me. But I can understand why it would affect the lives of those that do believe in vampires or live the lifestyle. Most people aren't open minded enough to accept you for who you are...so when it comes to vampires they would rather just make fun of you and walk away than listen to what you have to say on the subject.
I dont think I'm a vampire. I just like to learn things about them..My family hates it but they get over it.
im not a vampire but adapting to ones surroundings is always essential to sruviving.as they say its survival of the fittest
You have to keep in mind that some people are incapable of beleiving in vampire, in fac a lo of people are like that, its just human nature to not beleive in that which one can not understand.
Lol I'm not a vampire.
Sry.
But I mean if I was..it wouldn't really effect my life. I would just be myself or whatever. And like if I had to go to work, I would just be "normal."

I would believe that any major change in a person life would cause several reactions....
some positive...
some negative.
i am not a vampire but i am goth but i am also a christian as well.i know some people don't think you can be both but i do.
i realy ddon't care what others think of me as long as i am happy thats all that matters to me.
i dont give a rats ass what people think of it like the rest of my views and opinions and characteristics
they try to crack jokes but it don't phase me
no one will ever be excepted by everyone, adapting to such a change will not only be hard for the indervidual but hard for others to except
you are who you are,if other people didn't like it, then those are they problem not yours.
i have to spend many years to moving around, and believe me its not that simple.
just living to loving by doing with full of meaning.
im not a vampire but i would think one would want to keep those lives separated
I am also not a vampire but if I was one .I would not worry what others think. And my families opinion would'nt mean crap to me nor would their approval or non approval. I am a witch and my mom freaked out said I was going to hell and I said umm mom I own hell so there.. haha
Deities, Kings, Presidents, Generals - all surround themselves with great leaders. This is what enforces their ability to lead.
If you have not surrounded yourself with the people who are open to your opinions and thoughts. Not to bow down and agree, but to listen and debate.
Then who have you surrounded yourself with?
