i have heard there are rights in certian darker arts to control a soul to do as you wish after their physical body departs from the earthly realm.

It isn't possible to own someones soul because you are the only one that can control your own feelings and how to live your life. The only art that may make sense to having someone owning your sould would be with playing in a BDSM relationship but even then you have the control on how you want things to be done to you as you live your life.

The price tag for some exchanges with certain unnamed forces require the sacrifice of living souls to them. so to gain control over said souls, is a way to gain the power of the sacrifice, without having to outright kill them, if one gains ownership, or favors from that god-force for having something bind their soul to it, like a contractor.

Just because you can 'attach' yourself to a person's soul and 'weaken' it, doesn't mean that you OWN the soul. It would not be in your possession. It would just be weakened based on the attachment to it.

I think that owning another person's soul is a hole bunch of hooey. If it was that easy to sell your soul or even have someone else attach themselves to your soul there would be a whole lot more "seek and destroy" missions to get to people's soul.

The soul is such a personal thing that I don't believe that anyone would be able to own it. I don't believe it could be achieved with the black arts either.
I don't see a reason on why I'd want to own someone elses soul either, especially in a marriage. If I fell inlove with someone, I'd rather keep loving them for who they are and not because of how much power I might be able to have over them.

It can be done, but it depends on the strength of the soul. Most people are sheep and idiots, thus have week souls that can be taken.

But then that begs the question, why would you want to collect week souls, why not go after the strong ones, wouldn't they be "worth" more?

But what would one do once those strong souls were collected? What purpose could they serve.

IN me and my husbands werewolf group (roleplay) We had a shaman, a really nice girl who was a shaman in her daily life. One time she took a part of ones soul as insurrance that you would come back after completing the task you were set out to do.

Unfortunately it scared some players so she does not do it in-game no more.

I asked her if she was just role-playing or she really did take a part of his soul. She told me it could be done, but she did not specify how.

She never owned their soul. She could also bind ones wraith to them.

Accordnig to legend, the greek god Hades could also own your soul if you made a deal with him.

I think it is more a figure of speech like he owns my soul or my heart, but if you fight hard enough you will have your own soul back.

This is interesting. Personally, for me, I wouldn't want to own anyone's soul because I don't think it would be right. I mean, to each their own, but that's just not for me.

I personally believe when one says Owning Someone's Soul, than he thinks on having the persons energie body trapped, and manipulating it, and in my opinion that is a different thing from a soul, not the soul itself, but the mind and memories of a person by wich the person is operating the body in this material existence.

The soul as metaphor, I could imagine benefits to collecting souls when a person risk corruption by investing devotion to an agenda example cornering a bid for a company.. or group.. they invest their soul into such craft.. so to have disposable souls around would come in handy.. one thing that can also be imagined, is that those souls need pass thru the "collector" so be they tortured.. sentimental, weak, or strong, is a crap shoot.

I don't think you can own a soul but I think it is possible to join souls. you can be linked with someone and that linking is a part of your soul not your body so I think we control our souls at least while we are here. I think love is the same way you share the true self.
