When I dream I am always fighting some kind of very violent battle. And I wake up more exhausted than when I went to bed. It happens almost every night and it's been happening since I was a teen ager.
Dose this happen to anyone else?
Is this a super natural thing or just my subconsciouses messing with me?
Please tell me what you think.
Oh and any advice on how to stop this from happening would be helpful too. Thanks.
ive had a few. . .but the most memorable were in dreams i actually had control in and i was a bad ass martial arts warrior. ..
I am not really sure of how you can stop this, but maybe it's a sign of inner-turmoil of some sort. Like some issue you are going to have to identify and resolve on your own.
I think it has to do with your sub-concious.
Like MiserableAtBest said, it may be a sign of inner conflict.
However, that is not to say it couldn't be something else. But for what it could be is for your own discovery for only you knows what goes on in your mind.
Did ya have any traumatic experiences? Sometimes that can trigger dreams like this.
My whole life is one big traumatic experience. But like I said this has been happening for over ten years. When I was younger i would wake with marks on my body that could not be explained. That dose not happen anymore but the dreams are getting worse.
Night terrors are often signs of bad childhood traumas of which lay dorment within the subconcious. The individual as an adult deals with them as both reoccuring dreams as well as attitudes of grudging despair, which in turn leads to deppression in the long run.
No way to get rid of them unfortunatly, unless you pay for that type of council and treatment. It seems always to be psychological from childhood into pre adolescent behavioral patterns.
I must agree with the other people who posted on this, its probably subconscious. Have you tried sleeping pills? Meditation before bed? Relaxing music at bed? Ive heard that any of the above can help with a peaceful nights sleep, perhaps theyre worth looking into?
I often have strange dreams, not necessarily battles but various ones that have included battles of some form...I do not think it could have to do with you directly and maybe if you have a competative nature, it could symbolize you're need to always be in competition...that's just one possibilty.
I do think it could have to do (correction on my typo).
Oh and as for how you can stop these dreams, I think honestly our dreams control us for the most part so hard to actually stop them in that regard. Furthermore, if it has to do with your competitive nature (a need to always get ahead & compete), than it'd be really tought to stop them, as the nightmares would be stemming from something vested deep within your own character and to try to change them, would be to change who you are as a person.
The best option for you would be find a dream analogist and see what they say about your dreams they would be able to help better then most would.Simply their trade is dreams and thats it, They can tell you what your dreams mean and basically what they are trying to tell you or simply tell you why your most likely dreaming them
When I was in my younger teen years I always had really bad dreams. in them I would always be spinning, or falling extremely fast and I would wake up terrified. Sometimes, I would know it was a dream, and try and force myself to wake up. But that made it worse. I even got physically nauseous from it. I grew out of that though.
It is your subconscience revealing how you feel about your waking life. Since I don't know you, I would assume that in your life you may feel that people are out to get you, or you feel you have enemies and always having to deal with them. You may feel like people you don't like stab you in the back and you feel you are sorta fighting with them or want to kick their ass.
Whichever it is, you are battling something that you feel is pretty mighty and big in your life. Could be a different situation or people in your life.
ok so there is the whole psycological aspect, which has already been discusses. I have also read many accounts of people having similar expericences when "bad" spirts attach themselves to specific people. If that is the case look into banishments.
The other possiblitiy I have heard of is a "testing" of sorts. In many tribal cultures (everthing from Siberian, African, Austrailian, North and South America for example) people who were selected by the "spirts" for a specific spiritual purpose (such as healers, shamans or others who were needed to commune with the spirits) under go a calling and testing. They believed that the persons spirt guides or ancestors would test them in dreams by fighting, them frightning them. Vivid dismemberment dreams were quite common in many cultures. Signs they would watch for in tribe members would be deams similar to what you discribe in addition many other things.
Personaly i would rule out the first two options before even considering the third. If you happen to feel this is the case you will need help from somebody with experience in this "field" for lack of better terms. If you want to read more on what ive discussed a few books to start with are "Dream Time and Innerspace" By Holgar Kalweit, "Fire in the Head" by Tom Cowan. This last one is long and more difficult to get though unless you are really into the topic "Shamanisim: Archaic Techneiques of Ecstacy" by Mircea Eliade
I have had many dreams like that, I just think it is your subconscious acting up, not anything supernatural.
i have had some dreams like that...
but for the most part i don't have them now...
i haven't had a dreams like in a year...
mmmmm
i think it is just your subconsciouses messing with you...
I have had dreams like this, I just wake up and change the position I sleep in seems to work more often then not
I used to get it alot too.
It stopped itself eventually, I suppose I moved on from whatever it was
It's never happened to me, but I think that maybe it could be a sign that you are ment to do more than what you think. But I'm not really sure. This is just my thought.
I believe it is your subconscious. A dream can be a connection to your past or maybe even your future. I think you have had to fight your whole life and maybe this just falls over to your dreams as well.
I don't think it is a ghost attacking you in your dreams. Could you be a little more detailed as to what happens in your dream?
Could be what you are doing, watching or eating before bed.
Sounds like it is your subconscious. It could be that you need to try & relax your body before you actually go to sleep. I found that Lavander Is very relaxing.
well sweetie some timed those kind of dreams are trying to warn us about some thing or some one.or i they can be because we have a hidden fear in the back of our mind.
when i have these kinda dreams i find myself praying to my god plese is it means some thing please revel it to me or i will pray a protection prayer over me and all the people i know.
You said when you were little it would happen and unexplained marks would appear?
That used to happen to me when I was little, about 7 years old. It had to do with an experience I had just went through. I thought I needed to be punished. I would see people march in front of my bed and just shot at me. Anyway, if you believed something happened, then the marks will appear. It still happens to be every now and then where I'll wake up with bruises that look like hand prints.
My favorite example of the mind playing these kinds of tricks is when a group is doing a medical study. Test group A get the real pill and test group B get an identical but meaningless pill or placebo. People in test group B will think the pill is working and therefore the symptoms the pill was supposed to treat will in fact disappear. It's amazing to see it happen sometimes. My mom had done it a couple of times when I was little. She would give me some sugar tasting stuff that wasn't anything... telling me it was medicine and it worked on me. Later I found out that it was a mixture of sugar, water, dye and some karo syrup.
As for the dreams themselves, work on your problems. Find out what you're fighting yourself about because that is what it most likely is.
Have you had some major changes happening around you for the past ten years? Or an unstable life?
Did something happen all that time ago to trigger this all?
Just write and think about it and hopefully the answer will come to you.
Dreams can often reflect on that which we face in our daily lives, perhaps there is a lot of chaos around you, and when you sleep the battle rages on? Tell us more about your surroundings and days events before these dreams take place.
The forceful interaction with the world while dreaming is mainly caused by the inability of the mind to fully consciously process the events wich are interacting with persons perception. Emotional distress is result in the persons mind, wich is reflecting on the dreams environment, exactly as it does reflect in waking world, to wich all the other participants react to, and act in return, as well as dream characters, or things.
The possible solution to this is clarification, same as clarification solves problems the conflicts and disfunctional interaction in the waking dream, same so should the clarity of mind solve the conflictual interaction in the dream world.
The awareness, the sharp state of the mind sees the problem, and with intellectual ability it acts to a different sort of extent, and with that it is influencing the same events interactions to a totally different sort of flow in the interactions.
The way one understands the waking world and choses not to act corresponding to impulsive behavior in return with same impulsive return, and solves the conflict or brings it to a desired manipulated conclusion flow, same way can one understand the dreaming world and with clarity of the mind, bring it to the desired flow conclusion or aware manipulated outcome.
The result in a dreaming world, in a dream, is often associated with the well known and popular term Lucid Dreaming.
There is no big difference between a lucid aware control of the waking world, from that one wich we are dreaming, the only difference is that you need to understand that you are dreaming, and with that gain the ability of lucid dreaming, by being aware in your dream.
There is one small difference, and that one is that in the dreaming world lucid often shows how the laws of physics or stabile matter are non-existent, or easy to influence, where every lucid intention, or a thought becomes reality, and instantly brings a result, as envisioned, thought on while dreaming, like flying, or numerous other supernatural expressions of the mind wich people are experiencing while dreaming.
Understanding lucid awareness can solve anything like nightmares, and bend dreams to ones will, and bring events to that conclusion as desired, exactly the way intellectual awareness solves the problems in daily life, bending them to their own direction.
It is real fun.
The traumatic bad experiences wich persons went trough with their lives, are as well solved the same way, with intellectual and aware approach, clarifying, and dissolving.
What about astral projection? Is that possible? Because some times I am in real places. But I have not been there yet. I see these places in my dreams and then later I see them while I'm awake, after the dream happens.
I don't really believe in astral projection, but ofcourse that's becuase I haven't experienced any thing like that, but sometimes dreams are taken to be predictions of events that are to come...maybe if you're seeing a certain place in your dream then that just means you will soon see that place in life. If it has some sort of hidden meaning, or some sort of significance to your life or not is something you will have to determine, it just might take sometime for all of this (the dreams) to make sense.
ExR -
It depends on what you believe.
Some people have claimed to be able to or have done astral projection.
However, I don't believe there is anyway to prove this -- insofar as you can't really tell when someone leaves their body [with their spirit] when they sleep.
I do believe in Astral Projection. But I dont know anyone personally who has done this. I have been to places that I know I have been to before. But I am not sure if this is just coincidence or what.
You may be having somem past life regression dreams and visiting old hunting grounds so to speak. And if you are traveling back it would and does take energy from you. I have had the same dreams for years as well.
these dreams are very real and a very big part of your mindset.i had them all the time.i found that is was due to my untapt agression and anger issues.if you have had a hard life and are angry all the time you will have these kinds of dreamslet go of the anger and you will probably get rid of the dreams.
Just do not have them anymore. You are in charge of your own dreams. B/4 bed decide what you wish to dream, if it changes cource (bad) rethink it, make it change. Your dreams, your mind now control it. Will take a while but it works.
geal -
That's not really true. Dreams mostly come at random.
several of my dreams include battles between "good and evil" so to speak..... i had one where Lucifer went back to Heaven and demons came and put me on the throne of Hell...
strange.......i will never understand that one... but i like it
if that happened to me i would take up boxing. for real.
I am sure she meant boxing to defend herself...but dream boxing or in real life, I am not sure. But maybe if you actually did take up something like boxing or some other physical activity you would be to tired to worry about your dreams. Like have you ever been so tired that you fell asleep, and either didn't dream or couldn't remember your dream when you woke up? Maybe that could work with preventing these dreams...but then again who would want to be that tired all of the time?
I dream that I am running - I dream it all the time...strange - no battles but just that I am trying to escape something terrible. Heart pounding, eyes wide open - always at night in black and white...just running. Ack - I hate that dream.
I dream of battles all the time, but that's just good old fashioned Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Perhaps that's what you have too ;)
this is intresting whar i can say is that i have had these dream i know the feeling of waking up tired i think it our subconcious tryimg to deal with the stuff that has mayde our life a little less tolerable but hmm how i deal with it is i try to meditate take a warm shower to calm my self some time i dont have the dreams ater i do this so it a good possiblity that this might help
I've actually been haveing this happen a lot as of late, battleing some form of demon or such... I know not the answer as to why, but have been looking into it to see if there is anyway to have rest... hell I'll go weeks without sleep just to feel a bit more rested then actually sleeping.... the thought comes to mind 'no rest for the wicked'... heh heh... I figured its fitting as this would be the catagory that the modern day general masses would put us in... anyway Ill see what i can find.. if you find anything as well please let me know... kinda forget what this whole sleep thing is
I have a friend of mine that for months would have the same reoccurring dram that she was battling someething that she believed to be pure evil and she would awake completly drained of energy. in the last dream that she had she had concured this wvil with the light she held of pure love and goodness.
I don't know what causes them, or why they happen. I would like to know though. I am 16 and I have been dealing with them for 6 years.
Now I usually either lay awake at night afraid of what I will see, or what might happen to me. I also wake up hurt, and I don't know how or even rember anything that led to me getting hurt.
xNarconiax -
What do you mean hurt? Like bruised, or scratched, or what?
Maybe if you're having a nightmare you're thrashing around and if you're bruised then maybe you're hitting your arm or what ever it maybe on a piece of nearby furniture...I just don't think that something that happens to you in your dream will appear on your body in real life.
Things like scratches, and bruises. The thing is most of them are where I can't reach, and I don't thrash around in my sleep, I don't have anything around my bed to hit. I never let the animals into my room, but it might be thing frome the day that don't show up till the next day...I guess. The scratches, and bruises have just now been showing up the last 2 or 3 days.
Well maybe these things are happening during the day and you're just not noticing them, even I find bruises on my arms that I never knew I had....so maybe it's not caused by what's happening to you in your dreams. I have never had these "dream battles" so I don't really know what those of you that have are going through with this...but I still believe it may be unresolved issues or some sort of inner turmoil causing these dreams.
Ive had similar cthings happen to me..with the bruises and scratches..
Hmmm..I am glad to know that I am not the only one. What else has happened?
subconsciously ypu are useing energy in your dreams and the body never really gets all the rest it needs it has not happened to me though
I strongly agree... i suffer the same... but is deep into my own problem.. but with a bigger flash light..
I must say... the best to do is get into some books of sleep and read on others input and relate yours to theres... do not take in what others think and go with with it.. Ive done it and it really messed me up... reading got me where i am it helps out alot..
as for the boxing comment, i meant i would fight in real life and get it out of my system till my brains sick of fighting and using dreams to escape the violence.
I think u are battling your demons in your sleep to try and keep them away from u
I have woken up from battle dreams a few times. Often I dreamt I was fighting in medieval times with swords and spears and clubs. Often the dreams would seem so realistic that when I woke up, I had to come to grips with the fact that I was not dreaming any longer. I'd be sweating profusely and my heart would be racing. Not a very restful sleep, but surely good excersize in a way, I guess.
Not sure why I dream these things, but I like to think they are memories of the past that I somehow tap into.
there was this one time when i was in jail that this guy was dreaming of a fight, he kicked the corner of the bunk and stubbed his toes...... that was funny shit
I once had a dream of hiking in the desert where I got bit by a rattlesnake.
When I woke up, I had two red spots on my leg where I got bit.
i've only had a dream like this a few times in my life and it always seems i am more tired when i finally wake up... i guess it would be because our bodies are tence... not relaxed as they should be.... not sure how to stop from haveing these kinds of dreams
the battles in your dreams could happen for a few reasons....it could be supernatural, maybe a diobolical hanging around trying to break your mentality down....it could be that your daily battles you have with yourself are manifesting in your dreams....or even something you fear in reality is something your fighting in your subconcious .... what you need to do is figure out what is causing the dreams and then confront it, the dreams should stop then
I have had afew of those.. Usually if i go to bed angry..
EverLasting -
I have to disagree with you, even though you may be using energy in your sleep because of what ever it is your dreaming about...that doesn't make the dream world the same as the real world. Just because you win a million dollars in your dream doesn't mean you're going to wake up rich in the real world. Just because you die in your dreams doesn't mean you're going to die in real life...so I don't think it's real.
I have dreams related to that. I usually end up running away from something and everything is in slow motion. I always wake up with a headache.
Amaltheia -
maybe you're dreams of fighting and running away symbolize you avoiding some kind of problem in real life...something that you probably need to confront...just a thought.
Oh, and maybe the headache is from the stress caused by the dream...
Your mind has a way of corresponding with your inner feelings whilst you sleep. This is usually in the form of avid pictures which most of us do not remember. It is when we come out of REM sleep that we usually remember them. Good idea could be to start a dream journal and then research them on the internet.
I have had some really terrifying dreams.
It's like a ride that I want to get off of, but it just won't stop.
My theory is from what others on this thread have said,
that it could be that you could have had childhood trauma that has been lying dormant in your mind.
I think that just might be why I have been having nightmares like that.
My theory on this could be that you could have some unfinished business that you may need to have settled or dealt with.
Everlasting -
I beg to differ. In dreams things can happen which are completely impossible to happen in the real world. During sleep, your energy is restored, not spent.
What if the person that's asleep has a nightmare and the nightmare is so frightening to him/her that they thrash around as if they're actually trying to escape...and they wake up sweating, and out of breath, wouldn't they have been using energy in their sleep then? Although I do agree with you about the dream world not being real thing, like you said things happen in your dreams that aren't possible in real life.
anything that happens in our dreams are subconsious. so i believe it is all in your mmind you see it onece its stuck and plays over and over.
So are you saying the people that have these dream battles over and over are having them repeatedly because they had them once before? That's kind of how you made it sound, or maybe I am wrong and missed the whole point of your post...or do you mean something they've witnessed in real life is causing these dreams to repeat the way they are?
MiserableAtBest - Even though that may be true, energy isn't lost my simple dreaming itself. It's the movement from the thrashing that causes the loss of energy.
Yeah I guess you're right, even though you are asleep you are losing energy because you are physically moving around, which the fact that you're moving around might be caused by the dream you aren't losing energy simply from dreaming.
This has never happened to me.
Maybe it's ur SC messing with you.
-Juggalette givin MMFWCL
This has happened to me, I read on the internet and this is what the website I used said, To be in or see a battle in your dream, suggests that you are overworked. You need to give yourself a break. There is a conflict between your rational thinking and your irrational impulses. Alternatively, it represents eroticism. You may be overly stimulated or you are trying to suppress your instinctual urges.
Hope that helped
i get this a lot..
although it's not a demon or anything like that - i know exactly who it is.
i have had these dreams for almost 4 years now, and have experienced those marks that you're talking about - i eventually figured out that it was me struggling and moving about that caused them, although it may be different in your case...
do you sleep next to someone?
mine completely stopped for a few nights when i slept in the same bed as someone else.
i have never encountered a way to stop them unfortunately.. :/
It May Be A Combination Of Both.
You Fight In Life And Carry It Into Your Sleep.
stress usually affects us in our dreams to this level. I know several people that have crazy, far fetched dreams that are believable at the time...me being one of them. They usually happen after an argument with someone or something else that stresses you out to ridiculous levels.
I get that every once in awhile. I'll wake up with a bruise here or a scratch there. I don't think its anything supernatural or anything you can really prevent. Its just your mind doing it, mind over matter. When you sleep, dreams can look and feel real to a person. So its possible what happens to you physically in a dream, it can manfest it's self in reality possibly.
I usually have to take sleeping pills to get decent sleep, but when these dreams happen to me, I can't wake up. Its like I am stuck in the nightmare.
a friend of mine has had a dream like that two,she was in a battle with other ppl against other ppl. i think it's just psychlogical, nothing supernatural.
i don't think everyone dreams like this..
i think your dreams are a referrence to one of your past lives in a life that you lived prior to this existance.
maybe you were reincarnated from the life that you are having dreams about.
i believe that it does have to do with your past lives. and yes i do think you can leave your body and come back put be careful in that as if you panic coming back in you will find yourself having a hard time breathing.
i have those dreams my doctors says there night terrors caused by post tramatic stress
i believe post tramatic stress from something that happened in your younger years pulls alot of things out while your sleeping. sometimes i wish we could deal with the problems in our sleep so we dont have to deal with them in reality.
ive had a few of these myself but as far as what they mean i have no idea
I have them myself a lot.. I am fighting scientists for some reason. I always thought i fought in my dreams because in my daily life I do not fight for my rights..
I had a dream of someone trying to harm me and i was running and i woke up sort of running in my sleep and gasping for air
VelvetPassion -
Running in your sleep? Somewhat like sleep walking maybe?
Could be inner conflicts. Your subconscious could be trying to tell you something.
But that wouldn't explain marks.
Could be your astral self battling other beings and all that good stuff.
Meditate.
You could receive some answers.
also i do think it is possible that our mind does work when we sleep in producing images or thoughts we had when awake such as a conversation we had or listening or watching something from t.v. may effect us when asleep and that might have something to do partially how we dream.
I HAVE ALWAYS HAD THOSE TYPE OF DREAMS IT IS USUALLY WHEN I AM STRESSED OUT AND HAVE "ALOT ON MY MY PLATE"
I always have dreams i am jumping to fly and i can not do it.. I will have a black van trying to run me down and i leap in the air to fly and i end up being hit by the black van.. Watch them black vans all!! LOL
i always have dreams that i am fighting something or working through some kind of challenge. Just the other night i beat the shit out of to people in my dream for being bitches. Other times i find myself trapped ina maze with clowns (fyi this is not good for me im terrified of clowns) but latley ive been having weird dreams of people who are or once close to me dying tragic deaths. I had one last night about my ex and its been haunting me all day
