There are many different ways to do readings, some people use tarot and runes but there are many other types of readings such as:
NUMEROLOGY

Just as your wall mirror reveals your outer image, the mystical mirror of numerology can disclose your inner self. Numerology can teach you a secret code for unlocking the mystery hidden in the numbers surrounding your life.The number code for you is The Destiny number, your date of birth(month and day), added to this year(2001).Your Zodiac number is the day and month added to your Birth Year. In numerology, all numbers are REDUCED to a single digit by adding their digits together. The number 35, for example, would be reduced as 3 + 5 = 8. The only exceptions to this are the master numbers 11, 22, and 33.

I honestly have never really done alot of this that you mentioned although i have done the Astral thing for a while a good while back. I would Astral my thoughts to whoever i was thinking of at the time and it seemed to work pretty well.
Numerology you mentioned we learned a little bit of that in a home and family living class in school i found it very interesting.
I would do all sorts of variations of my name or anyone that would let me to see what number they came up with.

There are actually three major types of numerology, Kabbalah, the Chaldean and the Pythagorean. Most people use Pythagorean that is where you divide up the alphabet numerically through 9 and then start over.

I took classes in Pythagorean numberology in the 70s as well as tarot, palmistry and a few other things. I use to do psychic art readings. I can do voice vibration and psychometry but I choose not to do any of the latter types. The ony reason I am not doing numberology is I went onto other things and forgot most of it.

I have used pendulums with other people but a pendulum is no different than using a Quija board and I would rather use that. I was never very good with tarot because there was so much to learn and I guess I got lazy. With astrology I only did natal charts and composites. I felt it could be a crutch so I didn't want to do anything more than that but I stopped doing it and now they have computer programs to calculate all of these things...wahoo.

I actually use the pendulum cause so far in the past 2 years I've been using it, not even once was I wrong.

As for the tarot so far I am right about 4 out fo 5, so I use it too to get a more general answer to my questions.

I have used runes stones, pendulum (SP), and numerology. Never did understand the pendulums and muerology would be willing to learn more on them. The rune stones are easier for me to understand for some reason. I have not learned tarot yet either.

I do tarot and numerlogy. I also do crystal and gems.

I take a piece of pink quartz...a clear piece of crystal, and a very dark gem. I put the pink quartz in the center. gently shake the other two while asking my question. If the clear crystal is closer to the pink quartz the answer is yes, if the dark gem is near the pink quartz the answer is no.

Interesting MysticWinds. I have never tried using the crystals and gems. Never knew that you could use them.

Well I myself have never used to crystals to actually read from before a different aspect is always nice.

HHW why do you feel that it is all a fluke ?

I have never done any readings but my mum can do tarot and she's going to teach me soon so I guess I prefer that one.

I start at the first page and finish at the last. (Yes, I deserve a smack *shrugs, status quo...)

I don't use any of the aforementioned methods. I don't believe in them, I like learning about how they are interpreted, but since interpretations have the range of Chinese characters, I don't believe there is any accurate "read" only the "reader's" take on how to apply the information to their situation.

If a person is lieing to me about some thing I can usually tell because there body temp goes up

They say you are only the conductor for readings. it is a higher power that actually comes through you.

This is my understanding...unless in tarot you need the book.

Please everyone, don't just say which method you use but also WHY you prefer that method over others.

i have always prefered the 21 card spread directing the past, present, and future with the 4 th card being the dominant. i can only say i feel comfortable with this method. i have used others but i cant explain why i always use that spread.

sorry bout that im such a klutz i was reffering to tarot reading im not a lover of numerology but i do use the pendulum its another one of my favourites and so are runes i have used the pendulum on many an occasion to find things and rune more for personal answers and aspects of my life

Okay, for those of us that don't use any of this, would some of you mind walking me through a couple of things I'd like to understand better:

a) Who introduced you to this methodology? Family tradition? A friend? Coven?
b) How do you know you are even getting proper info, you may lay down the cards, let a crystal sway or take numbers and make a tapestry out of them... but how do you know you've interpreted things properly and how do you know you are even successful with the activity, itself?
c) How specific can you be? How much is generalization that is left to a multitude of avenues for interpretation?

I apologize to ask all these questions, but I would like to understand from a few different perspectives. Instead of starting a new thread, I am just piggy-backing this one...

Well for me my best friends parents first introduced me to tarot but then later she gave me a Tea reading which i just loved and I have sense really felt a strong connection with doing readings of that nature.

I had a teacher. In order to graduate I had to do 75 readings within 5 months. These people were all strangers. I remember doing a reading for one lady for I never ask their question. Nor do I ask questions. At the middle of the reading she said that was not my question but what you have read so far is true.

I was given by my teacher 4 lines of cards with 4 cards in a row by 4 different decks.

I thought this is crazy I cannot do this. But once I meditated on the cards I began to read.

Tarots because I find them easier to read.

all to me are a family tradition handed down through generations the Tarot as far as knowing wether i am doing it right all i know is that i feel it is right and i have never been wrong in the prediciton of things to come so i assume i have been doing it right all theses years its just a feeling you get within yourself the same for pendulum its a way to know how to ask the right question to find what you are looking for and for the runes is the same.

as far as aura readers, my boyfriend is one. He can't see like most people, actually, his parents used to think he was blind. He kept asking them if they could see the colors and they, of course, couldn't. He says that all objects have colors, and the energe, or auras around them change constantly, and each one is different. There is no specific color for a specific emotion. you can be yellow and be angry. Really it is how the energy moves that tells you their feelings and motivations.

as for me, I dabble in everything, but my most reliable source is instinct. I generally know if I'll like someone within the first few minutes of talking to them.

Actually, I do tarot (just did a reading for a friend last night that was eerily accurate) and use an old deck called 'The Witches Tarot' which I have had for years now...

I know about numerology but don't use it as much as other divinationatory means.

I prefer to use a pendulum because it is the method I feel most comfortable with. I use a simple rose quartz pendulum on a delicate chain. It might sound a bit mad but I believe that this pendulum chose me

I was so thrilled to see what everyons opinions are. I would love to have an aura reading done but havent been able to find anyone near me that does them... My girlfriend had one done in arizonia some where and it was awesome !

I read Tarot using "The Witch's Tarot" deck. I have the person shuffle the deck and use a normal Celtic Cross layout to see the images the cards give me. I am still learning and I tend to be too literal in my interpretations. Too much of the scientist in me. My fiance is excellent using the same methods at readings so I generally defer to her greater skills. :)

I read tarot the Celtic Dragon and Old English decks.
I feel them and interpret what i feel but most of the time i will open the book and read what each card means.

When i use to read( do not any more) i would just get this feeling about the cards and those were the ones..

I use witch,s stones or witches sticks which I made . they are a very old form of reading .the stones are like runes but uses witch signs instead of Norse runes. I am Celtic through and through and fell you should stick to your heritage , my husbands grandmother was a Indian Shaman who also did witchcraft was was a healer who was very well known and I try to like as she did in the old ways.

I have heard of witchs stones, but not in a very long time, yes following your family traits is always a great way to continue on down the line

That is very true alot of people start out using cards stones ect and then realize they no longer need them as with anything else it comes with practice

i definitely am an aura reader, it's natural and comfortable to me and so it requires no effort

Generally I use tarot to do readings [most common way I'm sure]. However, I'm not above using things like you listed [e.g. numerology].

Tarot cards for me. Or I just listen to that voice inside yell no/yes. Works for me.

I own and use The Fairy Ring tarot cards.

The fairy deck is a nice deck, my girlfriend uses that deck and a baby animals deck.

I read tarot, usually only for myself, I have about 13 decks - but the Druidic one and the OSHO Zen tarot are the most accurate for me so far.

I also read people through intuition.

ladysnowstrixx, I have never heard of the witches sotones or sticks. Do you have any information on them or anything that can be read on the net or something as I would like to learn more about them.

Since I'm learning, the Mythic Tarot is easier for me, since it is based on Greek mythology - something all of us know something about. I also have the standard Waite deck.

I'm going to learn Rider Waite tarot soon. I just think it is the best for me. I don't have a deck yet but i feel a relationship with the images portrayed on the cards. I find them to be beautiful. Thus why I will learn Rider Waite.

The type of reading I'm accustom to is tarot cards. When I lived in Santa Cruz, CA. it was introduced to me by a witch and really got into my head. Since then I've had readings done for me a couple of times and each time is no different than the first time. I still get weirded out over it to this day just thinking about it.

i have done tarot cards and will stick with them i have bee right most of the time with them. i have made my aunt belive when i did her cards and asked why she was cheating on my uncle. so i think i can stick with them for now but i would love to learn ruins i have tryed them but i am not good at all with them. but do wish to better my self with them

I dont have these qualities.. if i had teacher and punishments in learning this in my life, i would be doing this... well i did try to vision and succeeded in it. even open eye vision too. but after open eye vision drained my energy, i do not try even close eye lids search. close eye lids search do not drain energies and beautiful too...

but i was failed in searching my friend lori in close eyelid search and my vision opened in other place instead of to the entity of lori (took permission from her)

open eye future search was totally true and a guide to me and successful test in first and second test after that i dropped vision.

I read Tarot cards but sometimes get overwhelmed by the energy I pick up from them. You all know what i mean. I did skeer one person though....I told him by my reading, ( I was using the celtic spread) that he was lying to someone and he got real quiet. lolol

Yes the draining of energy is never fun.. Try doing a psychic faire .....read cards for 10 people and be out for 2 days

I've tried tarot, numerology, runes and crystals...the last one I never got a read off of and as for the former the way I was taught was that it's best to use them to read yourself and not others so I've never done a reading for other people using those tools. (other than choosing my childrens names via numerology)
I have read other people via dreams but not on purpose.

I dont read much anymore but when i did i would start one book and read a little and than start another one and kept going back and forth and never really mixed up stories lol i dont know.

Well, I practice Cartology, which is reading normal playing cards. I also read Tarot, but I find playing cards much easier to read and more reliable.

It is possible for anyone to read aura's, but it takes a lot of training if you are not born with the skills. It is something I am trying to teach myself to do, and I find it quite hard. I can usually only read one or two levels of an aura.

I also keep a dream journal to interrpret my dreams and their meanings.

I use meditation which allows me to focus on my inner being and understand other planes of existance

meditation and tarot cards for me... never could do the numerolgy thing,

i personally choose to do readings though card most of the time and others just on my other senses.
