Ok this is my first thread so help me the best you can...
My thread is about amityvile horror. I want to know whoa has watched this film? Which pats did they jump on (if any)? Is it as good as the first one ( if they have seen it)?
What did you feel about the extreme graphics used in this film? Did that girl put anyone else but me off sex?
Come on whats your true opinions?
The family is terrorized by demonic forces after moving into a home that was the site of a grisly mass-murder....just the stuff to watch before bedtime teehee. Hmm was it a true story?? I forget!!
I do believe it was based on a true story. I have yet to see the film remake, but, I have read two of the books that the Lutz's put out some time back.
The film is based on actual events. I saw the remake an the original and I enjoyed them both.
Whoa.. on true facts? oh my goodness that is one creepy ole house! Do you believe in people being able to photograph ghosts/spirits in these kind of situations?
I have to admit this remake has a richer story line..but you just cant beat the classic!
Yeah, I believe that you can capture spirits on film... but only if they want you to. You see them because they let you, not because you surprised them or caught them off gaurd.
I love this movie but not the one that was released in the theatre's recently.
The acting was kind of funny to me. Want to be scared more. Watch the original where the guy did a very conviencing job.
There were parts that were not needed for this movie. Then again different generation, different turn on's.
I reccommend the 1979 version.
It was another routine evening at the Suffolk County, NY, emergency dispatch switchboard. Calls had not been pouring in, and anyways, this placid New York City suburb scarcely had any crime to complain of, at least by City standards. Suddenly, at 6:35 p. m., the calm was destroyed by a phone call that would shatter the safe suburban aura that pervaded the county. Transcripts from the conversation demonstrate the caller’s rattled composure as he tried to relate to an operator the horrifying scene he and his friends had been led to:
Operator: This is Suffolk County Police. May I help you?"
Man: "We have a shooting here. Uh, DeFeo."
Operator: "Sir, what is your name?"
Man: "Joey Yeswit."
Operator: "Can you spell that?"
Man: "Yeah. Y-E-S W I T."
Operator: "Y-E-S . .
Man: "Y-E-S-W-I-T."
Operator: ". . . W-I-T. Your phone number?"
Man: "I don't even know if it's here. There's, uh, I don't have a phone number here."
Operator: "Okay, where you calling from?"
Man: "It's in Amityville. Call up the Amityville Police, and it's right off, uh . . .Ocean Avenue in Amityville."
Operator: "Austin?"
Man: "Ocean Avenue. What the ... ?"
Operator: "Ocean ... Avenue? Offa where?"
Man: "It's right off Merrick Road. Ocean Avenue."
Operator: "Merrick Road. What's ... what's the problem, Sir?"
Man: "It's a shooting!"
Operator: "There's a shooting. Anybody hurt?"
Man: "Hah?"
Operator: "Anybody hurt?"
Man: "Yeah, it's uh, uh -- everybody's dead."
Operator: "Whattaya mean, everybody's dead?"
Man: "I don't know what happened. Kid come running in the bar. He says everybody in the family was killed, and we came down here."
Operator: "Hold on a second, Sir."
(Police Officer now takes over call)
Police Officer: "Hello."
Man: "Hello."
Police Officer: "What's your name?"
Man: "My name is Joe Yeswit."
Police Officer: "George Edwards?"
Man: "Joe Yeswit."
Police Officer: "How do you spell it?"
Man: "What? I just ... How many times do I have to tell you? Y-E-S-W-I-T."
Police Officer: "Where're you at?"
Man: "I'm on Ocean Avenue.
Police Officer: "What number?"
Man: "I don't have a number here. There's no number on the phone. "
Police Officer: "What number on the house?"
Man: "I don't even know that."
Police Officer: "Where're you at? Ocean Avenue and what?"
Man: "In Amityville. Call up the Amityville Police and have someone come down here. They know the family."
Police Officer: "Amityville."
Man: "Yeah, Amityville."
Police Officer: "Okay. Now, tell me what's wrong."
Man: "I don't know. Guy come running in the bar. Guy come running in the bar and said there -- his mother and father are shot. We ran down to his house and everybody in the house is shot. I don't know how long, you know. So, uh . . ."
Police Officer: "Uh, what's the add ... what's the address of the house?"
Man: "Uh, hold on. Let me go look up the number. All right. Hold on. One-twelve Ocean Avenue, Amityville."
Police Officer: "Is that Amityville or North Amityville?"
Man: "Amityville. Right on ... south of Merrick Road."
Police Officer: "Is it right in the village limits?"
Man: "It's in the village limits, yeah."
Police Officer: "Eh, okay, what's your phone number?"
Man: "I don't even have one. There's no number on the phone. "
Police Officer: "All right, where're you calling from? Public phone?"
Man: "No, I'm calling right from the house, because I don't see a number on the phone."
Police Officer: "You're at the house itself?"
Man: "Yeah."
Police Officer: "How many bodies are there?"
Man: "I think, uh, I don't know -- uh, I think they said four."
Police Officer: "There's four?"
Man: "Yeah."
Police Officer: "All right, you stay right there at the house, and I'll call the Amityville Village P.D., and they'll come down."
Removing the bodies
(CORBIS)
By the end of the evening, police investigators would find an additional two bodies, bringing the Ocean Avenue death toll to six. Six of seven members of the Ronald DeFeo family had been methodically murdered as they slept in their beds, leaving Ronald DeFeo, Jr., as the sole survivor of the grisly suburban bloodbath.

Interesting, do you ever go by there?? Got any real pictures of the house??
I found this site that has an interview with George Lutz. You can read about it here http://www.amityvillehorrortruth.com/
i watched it and i nearly wanted to cry cause it was that scary. I was with my friend only at the 9:30 pm showing and when the ghost started to show up in different places then i was jumping. i thought that babysitter got what she deserved. she was such a loose girl. she really pushed the button with the dead girl who got her fired before. i was always on alart. i loved the spirits and how they looked. so go watch the movie but bring someone with you cause if your anything like me then you'll gonna need their hand
or if your anything like my mates don't go at all!!! I got dragged out because they got that scared...
That damn ticket cost me a fiver...
nice info on the real amityville murders does anybody know any more?
oh what people on my thread *smiles*
:-)
*doing stupid dance* oh ya oh ya
ok shock over carry on lol
The house has been redone several times, and the neighbors don't like people visiting.
It looks just like a house.
There used to be a cross in the window, when I was younger. Nothing was there to create the shadow, but at dusk, you saw it clear as day. It was in the attic window.

i live about 10 to 15 minutes away from the real house... its just a house... yes the killings did happen but as far as the Lutzs, who knows...the people who live their now, have been there for years and nothing has happened.... you be the judge
This is just the kind of ghost story that gives me pyramids on top of my goosebumps!
Ive seen the original and the sequels. They are alright for background noise.
i have seen all most all of the movies and after the first one came out they said it was a hoax it was a big story on that so the show became based on true events latter on when another famlie moved in to the house strange things happend to them as well they were said to have had mass hysteria many psychics have visited the house it was a big story once on unexplained mystries
can people please tell me where I could find a copy of the original Film I want to get it so I can compare the two watch the original then the new one in succession please help me fulfil my strange goal
Aaaammiiitttyyyvvvviiiiiiiilleee
I want to find the original really badly if anyone has it can I borrow it for a few weeks ^^ love Horror films need to find one that makes me jump damnit
The original was good. I want to see the new one so that I can compare them.
i saw them both, and i loved them both... a remake that actually did not suck! i do believe that something evil was in the house, it may be gone now, but i think it was there
i have seen it and have put it on my list of things i will never watch aging....

this remake was great, i have seem the original, an this one had more depth an a richer story, but that is because of the times now. it was a great movie an i will buy it when it comes out on DVD
I still say buy the original 1979 version, I think it's way better. Then again maybe I'm just into older movies.
the first one was so wonderful bad, i don't think they can top it
i think ronals is kind of cute! i want to see themovie.. is it good as the real life one???
i loved it-discovering the houses history-seeing him go mad+see the past and knowing its based on real life
This is the other side of the story kind of link: http://www.prairieghosts.com/amityville.html
I just read it...but whatever anyone belives it is very realistic...and for people like me who believe in bad spirits does make me question whether teh froces were real...but I cant wait to see the original....
I haven't seen this yet, but fascinated by the idea that its based on actual events. Ive heard a lot of good htings about it, and might be seeing it next week, so I shall report back.
Thanks for the link above by the way :-)
sory my opinon wont help but i did see it but i high as the sky! lol....... but i do remeber seeing it though sory
Read the original book 1977
Seen the 1979 movie
and the 2005 version.
And i don't know why...
Was ok in a sense i guess
But so is tripe to some people.
Haven't seen the re-make yet, but worth checking out. Saw the original a while back, so want to compare.
to find the orignial movie check out block buster or hollywood video on line
i did enjoy the original so i wouldnt mind seeing the new one.
I SAW THE NEWER ONE AND I LOVED IT. IT IS ONE OF THE BEST HORROR MOVIES AND THE GREAT PART IS ITS BASED ON A TRUE STORY SO ITS NOT JUST LIKE ONE OF THESE SHITY MODERN DAY HORROR MOVIES THAT HAS A KILLER TITS AND DEATH. IT ACTUALLY HAS A INTRESTING PLOT AND I LOVED IT. I RENTED THE FIRST ONE AND WASNT THAT PLEASED WITH IT. I FELL ASLEEP THE FIRST HALF HOUR. BUT THEN AGAIN I DIDNT SEE IT ALL. BUT THE NEW ONE KICKS ASS AND IM GONNA BYE IT WHEN IT COMES OUT AND I RELE RECOMEND IT TO ANYONE WHO ENJOYS A GREAT HORROR MOVIE.
There's going to a NEW Amityville Horror movie...
starring Ryan Reynolds..
=)
I haven't seen yet but I want too. my girlfriend said it was good and I hear it is closer to what really happen there. maybe I should do some paranormal research on it.
hmm scratch that last remark. I thought they were making another one after the one that just recently came out.
LOL
wow didn't know about the new one but i do know you can get the original fil from blockbustre or asda for only a tenner
The film was supposidly based on actual events but the family came back and said that they made it all up. Nothing like that ever happened. But the story is a fun one to imagine..
my little bro knows everything about the house and story. hes a nut on killers and gore and blood..... mmmm blood. lol
Hell ya it was bout a true story damn demonic forces runnin rampant and attackin right an left mass murder and gore yummy stuff bedtime stories are made of
please forgive me but......
the amityville toaster, make breakfast spooky, spooky talk from toaster, spooky eat me toast!
yum, yum, yum......human hand.
Hmmm..... i've seen the 1st and it was really good..... now i really want to see the 2nd one!
i like the first version better than the secod, nuthing beats the origanals
i have seen this film, and i havnt seen the older one, i have heard of tha legend though, i read somwhere in a book that it wasnt true, i wanted to find out more on this, and figure it out for myself, but everytime i look for somthing on tha internet it comes up with things about the movie, does anyone know where i can find some genuine information about what really went on in that house?
Haven't seen it yet,but I do believe people can take pics of ghosts/spirits.
I knew a site about the movie where there was an interview with a woman who was there, where she told her expirience.Unfortunately I lost the link.
O.O!!!!*blinks at the pictures, grabs ahold of teddy and sucks on her thumb* god!! why did you guys have to post those!!!?? Now I am not going to be able to put my feet down in fear that something is gonig to reach up and grab me and pull me through the floor...*eyes her dark room**meeps**hides head underneath covers*
It was a good movie.
I didn't jump at anything.
Seriously. I'm not saying that just to sound cool. But the weird thing is--
My little 9 year old cousin didn't jump or anything either {she's trying too hard to be like me for some queer reason}. But all the 15-17 year olds did.
That little girl appearing in the sex scene, did not 'put me off sex' XD
My dad read the book and was saying something about a Red Room. My mom said she'd seen the first one, too. She thought the second was 'scarier' because more jumping graphics.
sounds great......and hope to see it soon
thanks 4 the comment it was a nice thread thank u all
saw the original. loved it. not too fond on alot of remakes. not too sure if i want to see it though . . .
From what I've heard it was based on a true story or at least one simillar to it. Its a good film though.
its ages ago ive seen it last. cant remember a lot of it actually.
thanks for the thread, im gonna watch it again hahaha
i love that movie.
an i sometime dont like movies made from real events
Didn't bother with the remake, but saw the 3D version of the original. Kind of campy, but fun to watch. As for whether or not the story is true, it all depends on what you believe. With all the media hype, I'm skeptical till I see some real proof.
Yea, I personally know someone that lived in that house at one time, and the current owners renovated the house, took out the 2 half moon cresent windows that was the little girl's room.
well the family admitt that the storry wasnt true way late after? thats what i heard
i havent seen the new one but i like the old one better.
I saw it with my friend... I haven*t seen the old one but I liked the new one, and I haven*t really thought a movie was actually scary in a while.
I keep getting the run-around when trying to find out what relevance this house has to do with Iowa. I was told the house that was filmed is located in Iowa, or there was a similar occurance in Iowa, or something like that. Not many people know, since I've gotten NY, and Maine, and Iowa...where is the real house? Where is the house they used in the films?
I know the house they used in Twister is located here in Iowa, but the Iowa Amityville house...? Weirds.
i haven't seen it but my frinds said the the original is way better then the new one but i haven't seen either
Both are great. i have the original, all of them an dvd, will be buying the new one when it comes out..
It is a wonderful movie, cant think of a way to compliment it to give it any justice
aighty well you all will hate me... but i hated that movie. yea it was a great story... but they should have kept to the story. ok yea most of the killings happened in the bedrooms, and the shit in the basement and with the dog. but nutin happened in the bathroom. so what was with the chick fucking poping out of the tub? aghhh
i did really enjoy tha film though, i would have liked to see tha earlier one first, i like older films..
the film was ok but i really don't watch much tv i like to write poetry or read more
truthfully i thaught that the movie was boring and i was very upset cause i thaught that it would be alot better than it was but i still own it
The 1979 Amityville was really good. I liked that one more than the later.
I thought that the new remake was excellent and i jumped at the part when the boy saw that thing in the bathroom and when the dog attacked the guy.
i havent seen the remake yet although i want to i acually read something on court tv that george lutz was trying to sue the company that portrayed him in the new one because it made him more scary and he didnt like that from what i have seen it looks as if the newer one is better but i wont know til i see it
funny enough i watched the original yesterday. still a class of its own :D a must see
is there anything you do like gothic i mean you posted something about not liking south park and now you think this movie sux
This is something I haven't seen... but I woul kind of like to.
I haven't seen that new one in fact I'm totally clueless when it comes to that one but I've seen the older ones, entertaining.
ive seen the old version for the first time the other day and i thought the film was wicked its the scariest film that ive ever seen.
i loved both of the films.... plus yeah i remember see a tv show years ago about the really family....
both are great, i prefer the new one i jumped all thru that movie like a child but it was great the effects were great i can't wait to watch it again
I liked the new one. I have watched it many times. The old one was cheesy in my opinion. George acting all Flu ridden and ca--razzed. *laughing* It has been playing lately on TV, I noticed. Watched it again the other night. Oh, I will still watch it. And hell, what movie doesn't have alittle cheese in it?
I would love to to go the house and feel the energy there, and see first hand, what it feels like. I believe that it is true.
Anybody have pics from there? Do me a favor and go over there at night! Haha....take some digi and send them to me. :P
"To a believer, no proof is necessary. To a non-believer, no amount of proof is enough".
who knows.....? Good site....
http://www.amityvillemurders.com/
Yes Eamerald, I believe that the camera can catch what eyes can't always see. Still waiting for the movie to arive in Portugal, though.
I've seen the film and it gave me the creeps just watching it
love it! buy them both!
Watch them all on a horror movie sleepover party nite! Don't forget your popcorn;-)
The new amityville kicked ass!! but the old ones were better. my favorite was the nsecound one because u got to see the kid shoot his parents....
good flicks...supposedly it was all a hoax..but a great story
It was good...
I had a great time watching my friend bouncing in her seat, she was really scared!
i saw that movie in theatres, it was okay but it needed a little more blood.
haven't seen the remake yet.. not much of a remake fan, but i might just to get a good comparison...
I have seen both and I have to say the original is better. Im not much of a remake fan.
i think they change the end beause it the real story the dude kid die.... and after that they just lefted the house as it was half built and they never went back.......
I've seen the older one.. and personaly, I thought it was stupid. Parts were funny, if you have a sick sence of humor. But other then that, the movie was a complete waste.
well i dont remember much of the old one just i know the remake scared the shit out of me i jumped so much lol i loved it anyway i suggest you watch it if you love to get scared
i saw both the first one and the second one and they were different from eachother. and i dont know about the girl. i definatly liked the first one alot better.
now..I forget what movie I got this idea from, but reguarding haunted houses the ghosts are generally those who're so attached to their home (or something within/part of that home) that they're effectively stuck there, in some cases this is due to overwhelming greed or simply refuseing to acknoledge they no longer belong... the later is most probibly the reason for them being able to be photoed, and the former for when they're rumbleings (able to make noise throw things around ect.. but not even remotely in any form such as a mist), in either case merely a shadow of their former selves
hehe, it's been quite some time since I saw the origional amnityvil horror, I should very much like to compare the two.. hollywood has the tendancy to 'embalish' upon such stories these days
