What made you choose to come to Vampire Rave instead of going to sites such as MySpace or Facebook?
Well It was a friend of mine that told me to check out VR maybe almost 3 years ago, and once i came here well I never really left, here you can express your darkerside without being looked down upon .... I can be myself here and not be looked down upon for my views or religious or lifestyle beliefs.
It's the same with me. I tried MySpace and people on there were judging me about being a Wiccan.
I was bored and felt like it, really. I'm not interested in vampires, because all it is is fairytale garbage. I joined because I wanted to (see first sentence).
:)
I have always been interested in Vampyres,Werewolves etc and never really had a place where people shared the same interests.
ya when i first joined myspace i got the people that wanted to save my soul lol covenspace is a cool place though as well.
well i have both a myspace and facebook but i always feel as if im being judged about who i am. here i feel free to express myself and ive always ad a fascination with vampires.
A lot of people here belong to both the sites you mention AND VR. You don't have to necessarily choose one or the other. Now if you are asking why I PREFER VR over the others it would be a few reasons. First, because I like the system here, its a competition and keeps me busy, the others are not. Second, I have a love of all things supernatural and vampires. Third, I feel that this site allows for varied ways to be social with others, more opportunities to get to know one another on a more personal level.
I came here to get information about one of the Goth cruises. I had to join in order to post a question on the forum thread discussing the cruise.
Got hooked on the site while putting in the time required to gain posting rights.
I'm more into the "Goth" side than the "Vampire" aspect, but I have always been fascinated by the mythical vampires. And it's pretty hard to seperate the two subcultures anyway.
I have a Facebook also, but I love coming to VR to meet new, and different people. I came across this website a couple of years ago and joined. After awhile I deleted my account, but then came back again to start over.
Well,i can't load up myspace or facebook on this computer.LOL.
no...well that and..I used to be here tow years ago,
and rememberd that this place dosent have all the drama or little emo wannabes and children that love to spam other peoples stuff.
This place is more growen-up then alot of web sites.
My friends don't like this place cause they said it
was a wannabe pretend web site for fake vampires.
no,I think they never came here in the first place or
they would know that they are wrong.
Why, for all the interesting and wonderful people on the site, of course! And then there's the wonderfully done profiles and superb artwork displayed in the portfolios of members, and let's not forget all of the interesting and intelligent discussions found in the sites Main Forum.
Who wouldn't love Vampire Rave? So much to enjoy, so little time. If only.... If only I were a real vampire. If only... If only someone would turn me!
Okay, seriously... I joined out of curiosity and I've stayed for similar reasons and for friends.
I have facebook and myspace accounts as well. On both of those sites I have close friends, family, people I went to school with and coworkers. In utopia everyone would get along with each other accept differences and embrace change and new ideas. In reality that doesn't happen.
In a decidedly non-drama laden way I have two sides to myself my day side- working, dealing with family etc. And a night side which delves more into spirit, the mind-body connection as well as other things. I can't brand either one as good or bad they just are.
I choose who I share my "whole" self with and while I love my "day" people not all of them would understand. I'm not ashamed but I recognize that I can't share everything with everyone.
I like VR because there are new and interesting people to meet and talk to, forums and polls that have nothing to do with the new fall colors of nail polish and I can put something like "Death to the Rat Bastards!" as my kismet without getting 40 replies, 8 texts and 4 phone calls from concerned people wondering why I had such a horrible day.
When my daughter said she was talking to a real vampire on her xbox live, I started asking questions. She showed me his profile on VR and I joined to see just what it was all about. I been hooked ever since.
It is so very interesting here and there is NOTHING like this anywhere else on the world wide web. I learn something new or meet someone new every day here. It is like a smorgasboard-something for everyone.
What makes the individual think that one site is better than any other? They are all basically the same save for a certain maturity level and template format.
The designs are efficiant for both sites IE Myspace and VampireRave.
Myspace has app that could be considered as games where as VampireRave has a leveling system that could be considered as a game.
I would consider neither better then the other since they both have their ups and downs.
my girlfriend actually brought me to VR... i do have a myspace and facebook... i spend more time on VR than my other sites... my VR experience started off slow and full of confusion, but the new updates made it easier for me to use... i like the rating aspect and security aspect to the network
I have searched the internet for a site such as this, one dedicated to the notion of vampirism. This is currently the best that the world wide web offers.
Alot of other sites are flawed. They dont seem to know where to go or what to do.
Vampire Church for example - Not a religion of any sort...just a site. Pointless i agree.
I am on other sites beside VR, this includes facebook and once I was on myspace too. I am on each site for different reasons.
I joined VR because I was on #vampires, a channel on MIRC and saw its advert. I was on other gothic sites at that time but none made me so addicted. In fact VR is the only site I’m a member of since 2005. The reason I joined was to, be able to discuss anything, especially topics that are considered as dark, as well as meet other people from different countries and see how it is the Gothic and vampiric life style in other countries.
I had a myspace and it was fun for a little while, but there is too much drama on that site. Facebook I've never checked out so much. I kind of think that it will be like myspace, eventhough I know its not. Everything is so anonymous on here on the most part at least. I like that.
Well, I was brought here by my ex... I am able to be myself here with out having to worry and hide stuff (from family) since they are not on VR.
But I also have a facebook and myspace account for school friends and family and even some VR friends.
I have been off and on with Vampire Rave for a few years now with a change of names, losing interest and getting it back again. Mostly due to being able to share my stories, my dreams, and things of which i don't feel my family would understand too well about me and my interests.
As for MySpace i got bored with it and deleted it , and i do have Facebook for my school friends and family only even though i find that to be rather dull sometimes too.
The only thing that really keeps me anywhere, is the friends i make within sites. Not so much the site itself.
looking for some insight in the vampire community and some of the lores that others have heard. information is from region to region.
When i got here it was great alot of cool people that you really do not see on other sites.
Try my space . yahoo but there real not a thing to do on them when all you do is look for ppl to meet here there is a lot to lean and do ............ love it here
I am Vampire groupie so it kinda follows I'd be here ;) heh. Myspace attracts a different crowd and well the other sites I keep private for real life friends :)
The countless times this was asked...I stumbled upon VR by accident.I had just finished reading The Historian and was trying to find out where the writer got her info.Im not into the lifestyle nor do I believe that vampires are real.I do like the books and movies and I have friends on here.As for Myspace...when they are start referencing an internet site in main stream Hollywood it is too popular.I only use it to keep in touch with relatives.
The Love of Goth and everything about it.
The Rave has everything!
It beats all other sites hands down.
We can openly discuss issues realated to mythical, magical, supernatural, paranormal, the entire works without being critized and feeling alone in society.
It has enormous activities and Covens, so much more than just a single forum block like other web sites do.
The Rave Rules!
My Mom really likes this site. I think it is pretty cool too.
They all have their plusses but this site is more like a game. You can be very creative here and meet some really interesting people. I think it is just personal taste really. There are all aspects of the topic of vampirism from fictional, historical to subculture and of course goth for those into that. I think it has a wide range of options for those on the darker voyage or those interested in that viewpoint rather "than" just the vanilla side of life.
I agree with you guys. I like to be different and want to hang with others like myself. I consider myself creative, artistic and different. So, I like it here because everyone is pretty much who they are, not as much games and things like that.
by games I mean head trips, sorry if i wasn't clear. I mean I have seen ego trips, lol,
but for the most part it is real in here if you know what I mean. It is where the unclicks, click, lol
I too have myspace and facebook accounts. I find I spend more time here because it's just more fun. I found this site quite by accident when I was looking for pointers on gothic makeup and I am officially addicted! I completely agree with what I've read here - this place allows you to be "yourself" in a way that is not necessarily accepted on the other sites.
There are people here that are fearless...
I like that, when it's combined with experience.
i have come here becouse of my love for vampire i also wanted to find people who felt the same way i love this site
I can't honestly remember what it was that brought me to VR...but I was a member of VR long before I was a member of myspace and late last year was when I created a Facebook account.
I can't honestly tell you that one is better than the other...but I consider VR to be a little more fun than the rest ;)
I have a lot of family here, and here was the best place to post my story. Simple choice.
.. through one connection, writing.
Through that inital connection, I have made several others, over the years.
This is the best site, the others are good for music n vids but i never use them now
tried myspace before kept getting message about phissing so got tired of it
tried vampirefreak, was fun at first 6 months, got tired, facebook, I have it but I doubt anyone can find me ^^ lol
vampire rave so far is the only place I never get bored lol Its alos the only place where I got combination of all the things I like: anime, vampires, paranormal, societies, games.
plus when I get bored I give away profiles lol and then later I buy other profiles for myself lol
just wish I would earn my wings batwings lol
Well, I joined VR back at the end of my Senior year of high school. A friend showed me the site..and I have not looked back sense. But, I had myspace first. I am also on face book as well, for its the only way i can really keep in contact with my college contacts. I use myspace for famliy and other high school friends i dont see anymore.
I am very glad that FallenPixie was so persistant in trying to get me to join. I am having a lot of fun on VR.
I stumbled upon VR as well...I wanted to do a lil' research on vampires, and saw where VR was "For all thing vampire"...so here I am.
As for Myspace and Facebook? I rarely use them. I only drop in on Facebook to catch up with relatives. My Space? Meh.
I think most people on here actually have profiles on one or both of the other sites but VR is a much more interactive site than the others. Myspace and Facebook are more for people you already know. VR is more for those you don't. It's easier to get things done, share ideas, get constructive (new) feedback and anything else you can't do or already have done with those people you already know well. Or not, while helpful and enjoyable to have friends here, you don't need them to participate, I think that fact is encouraging to a lot of people.
I do have myspace and facebook, although I dont use facebook as much. I use myspace to play games. VR is better as you can add things like the database submissions, and the more you do the higher you can go up the status level. Plus socialise as well.
Well, this lovely gentle person approached me at a club one day...several trips to Starbucks later, one thing led to another, and...he mentioned the site in passing. I queried it and decided to join (though I admit, I never consciously thought I would ever join a forum of such repute). I enjoy meeting people from around the world, all ways have; And yes, I only use Facebook to keep up with two or three people I see all the time in real life. I tried Myspace once...never went back, I did meet one interesting chap who was into experimental music there. I guess it didn't "feel right". Even though I am, in so many words, a "free spirit", I seek certain levels of discipline lest I wander off and never return. The Rave seems to be meeting that requirement quite adequately.
I use all 3. Facebook more than either. I know more people in person who are also on Facebook.
http://www.myspace.com/djjarak
http://www.facebook.com/djjarak
I use all three, but am on here the most (I hardly ever go on the others).
My friend was on this site and she told me about it four years ago. I came on to take a look and liked it, but was unsure if I should join. About a year ago I did, and am glad I did, but then ended up leaving for about three months, but now I am back and I plan to stay because I like my coven, my friends, and the whole site :)
I have a facebook, which is mainly for talking to 'normal' people, although I rarely talk to any of them. One day I decided to search vampires just to see what the internet had on them. I stayed here because you arent shunned for your 'darker views' of life, instead you are rather welcomed for it.
I have a myspace but now it is so covered with game apps that i am always having to say no to it almost steals what little sanity I have left. I was brought to this site by a friend, and so far I am loving it.
I have a profile on myspace, facebook, and some other sites. I do enjoy this site a little bit more, but I have never had a problem with the others. I came here looking for a way to express myself without being treated badly.
I like the thought of what people have to say here. Also there is more to this site to me the My Space or Facebook.
The houses and covens makes this a better place also.
I came to VR because I found others like me on this site, they liked to talk about paranormal things and not consider it evil.
What do you mean "the view" dabbler? like the tv show or you liek the view of things on this site?
Its hard to get to know ppl on myspace and facbook cuz most of the time they dont like the whole vampire or goth thing.
This site is more of my style.
Plus, people my own age sicken me! School is bad enough..!!
also, there is a whole lot more to do on this site- without adding a million different apps
Oh, and WAY more freedom on your profile here than on facebook, if you know what I mean...
you cant type a whole lot on facebook/ myspace
cause I can code on profile and have fun with it....on the other sites I cant do it, maybe on vampire freaks, but, even so, I when back and got bored in less then 20 minutes
so I guess I am addicted to vr....only here I had 2 societies that had value, on vf anyone from any level can have a group, here you need to earn your level first then send the requirements and after you get your society, that you need to work on, otherwise you loose in the process ( blood cost)
Well VR is fun, you can gain levels and it is about the paranormal.. The other sites are for anything you can think of..
I actually found out about VR before I heard or thought about myspace or facebook. I was interested and drawn to this site for various reasons.
1. acceptance
2. love of vampyre rules and lifestyle
3. family
4. friends
I also have both. I found this site on accident. I was just bored and searched vampires on google and found this site
found this site searching info on vampires late one night, found it and never left. lol and some time later heard of myspace. only gotten a account there about a year ago, but hardly ever goto it. and like any place else really, get disgusted with people wanting to 'save my soul' thing lol
The CIA made me come to VampireRave. They are watching you. They maybe be already part of the staff of VampireRave. The Upper Staff is called: "The Others - from the t.v. show, LOST".
I feel like like myspace and facebook is for catching up and keeping in contact with family and friends.. Not a place where you can show your pride in what you you believe without judgement..
VR is a home where you aren't judge for your beliefs and have many "friends-n- family" who are all pretty much on same page.. A place to have where no matter how much or little you know about vampires someone is willing to help you gain knowledge or even just relate to you..
I think that it's better than the other sites based on the fact that everyone here as pretty much the same interests as myself.
Someone I knew mentioned they were a member of Vampire rave and I went to check it out. I do not make a habit of joining many Groups or Communties. But Vampire Rave called out to me. The number one thing is, it did not look like any other of the vampire Sites, which seemed more like dating and pick up places. Other Members do not message me and do the ASL thing and no ones cares that I am over 50 and am not an Adonis. Well, no one has mentioned anything to me anyway. LOL
I liked the fact that VP has a theme of what I am interested in and other Members with the same; Vampires and things of Darkness. Compared to most online Communities of this type, that I have visited and checked into, VR has a relatively safe environment; there are always Staff Members available to contact in case there is a problem which gives Members a little added security.
There is also the Status System and overall set-up here which makes it fun and competitive for me. Although VR can be a great place to make Friends, I can still do things on my own and keep busy. This is the first Community type group that I have joined and enjoy enough to have become a Premium Member.
I joined Vampire Rave because I have always been interested in the Mythology of Vampires. After reading that this website was originally created to be an in depth Vampire exclusive database I joined. I was already a member of myspace previous to being a member of VR and about a year after joining VR I joined face book as well. While I am not exclusive to VR alone, this is the main website that I am on when online.
Well I have a myspace and this....but I prefer this because I like the atmosphere better here...well most of the time *lol*
i have myspace and facebook.some other sites as well.'
vr,seems to hold my interest longer, with everything offered to do.
theres many groups and great people in in this site. filled with tons of information....
Cos it's Vampire Rave, and I can rave all I want about vampires...
*bites sweetly*
I have a Facebook and a MySpace account. I use them for social networking and self-promotion.
But it gets very old quickly reading continuous entries like:
Very tired, stopped for coffee.
Oh, me too.
I don't drink coffee.
I like it with cream and sugar.
My cat had kittens.
I have a dog.
Jesus, do people really have to share every second of their lives and every mundane event? Do others really care? So here I am where ideas are shared, people have something to say, and you can actually debate an issue.
I started out on myspace facebook and all those other sites and i liked them but my boyfriend was on VR so i joined up so i could talk to him he was also on some of the other sites but he likes his Vr the best then i started making friends on the site so i stayed
I have both facebook and myspace but have them for different reasons then I do for Vampire Rave. I came here when my ex husband introduced it to me and found it much more liberating than facebook or myspace..there is much more here to do. I rarely sign in to my other accounts.
VR is most for the "Adult" type of people. places like my space, called: "Drama kingdom" is becoming a "bad" place. I feel that when Cancer made VR, he was thinking of creating something for the people that are the weird one between the normal. Yes, I am a premium member and I will support VR in any way. I wear the VR shirt with pride and when people ask me about it, I always speak with honor for our little place in the web.
Well firstly it was about vampires :D But as I got on the site and got to know how things were run I got hooked on developing my status and so forth... on VR you have a whole lot more to do than facebook or myspace.
I came across this site by accident searching for something in particular, it brought me to the forum.I suppose I began a little nosey around the place. It became quite an addiction at first, updating my profile, adding gadgets to it and such. I then met a particular person on the other side of the world to me....A new addiction took place:P
I have been here for about 4-5 years on and off. I am intrigued by the mythology of vampires, but I wouldn't say that keeps me here.
As for Facebook and Myspace...Well I hate Myspace, I can't stand the site because I don't understand it. I became apart of Facebook to keep in touch with a few people that wouldn't entertain a site like this.
I use my space just for close person freinds. But I like this sight for meeting new people and learning intriguing topics mostly.
Other sites bash you for these types of topics, so the Rave is very Unique all in it's own accord!
Where else can you get everything under one Roof?
They have Hells Bells on myspace & facebook?
Dang what was I thinking?
Mahahahaha!
There is an element of family on here. Everyone has a common interest or spirit and is non judgmental as other people can be. If you put for instance, on myspace, you're a vampire. Many people will message you asking either stupid questions or bash your name.
Here people are understanding that each one of us is unique and that we are what we are, no matter what.
~Fleshwound~, your comment had absolutely nothing to do with the thread, please state what made your decision of joining this site... Not how you feel about your personal psychie.
I actually came across this site randomly.....and thought I would check it out. Come to find out it's just right up my alley!
I found that it VR would allow me to expound on any knowledge I thought I may have had. As well as meet others that could really help me with things in reference to what this site has to offer that only talking to another individual could help resolve. If that makes any sense at all.
I tried them, and the sites kept email me stuff saying my account was phished and that with about 4 times and on facebook, well I only liked the game vampire wars, the rest is boring...
so got bored and found this site, when a guy I was going out with told me about , 4 years ago and since then I got addicted and I am tied up to vr.
not sure whether I joined VR or myspace first. I only joined myspace because several members of my family wanted me to, but I never really cared that much for it. I joined VR because I wanted to. I have been a member of other vampire sites but this is by far the best and most complete of any I have found. As for facebook if I didn't like myspace why bother with facebook or twitter either. Those "normal" social networking pages are just too vanilla and normal for me. This is sooooo much more than a social networking site that they are not even in the same league.
I have a facebook account and all they want to do is play stupid games like Farm Town etc. A friend and her daughter told me about VR. They got me on this site and I have been hooked every since
I have had myspace , and facebook ,honestly I dont like either , my space is too virus filled ... and facebook ... everyone from work was on it so it was like being at work :( soooo one day I just stumbled into VR ... been here since , really wasnt looking but it found me so to speak.
not knowing exactly who you are talking to, unless you've met in person, yet getting along so well, and sharing whats in our heads with each other in such an organized fashion.....hmmm....just apppeals to me.
I got them to but in VR I am surronded by people like me and I don't feel judged or an outcast.
i have all of them too and as others have said i truly feel like i can be myself here. plus there's more to do. and i love vampiric things. so, yeah.
I use facebook and I do have a myspace account so I can look at friends pictures. I came to VR though after a lot of persuasion from a friend of mine:) Since there is not a lot I would not do to make her happy, it was a no brainer. The fact that I actually enjoy the place is just a happy bonus:)
Back in '06 I was minding my own bee's wax when I got bored one day and did one of my random searches on goggle to see what would pop up..I fell into this odd webring for vampire related chats and such and saw a VR banner..
Now I had never even heard of VR so..I clicked on the banner and it brought me to the home page.
I poked around and was amazed at peoples profiles, the way the status system was set up and all the cool buttens..so I made my first Account and have been here ever sence...
and not to toot my own horn but I migh have changed my name..never have self deleted myself at all...woohoo.
Anyways..I too have a myspace account. had one sence oooh say '02ish..I think...
back when Myspace was stillthe newest thing..and "tom" still had his thumb up his bum about stupid shitt dumb ass sexual purvs might do..
(he's been cured as of now)
And facebook..meh..Im still new to all that..I think Ive had mine for about going on two years now..and I mostly use it to stay in contact with my sisters who are off at college..
One summer 2 years ago i was searching around the sites for vampires and i step in here. Since then im in Vampire Rave and im very happy. ^^
i had a myspace- after awhile it got to mundane for me so i deleted it and facebook is just gay- i feel more at home here- i can be more myself here.
My Space and Facebook are full of spammers, and seem in comparison to VR, quite dull so I am rarely on them.
VR is like a fine wine, it gets better with age, the longer I am on VR, it gets better. I am You Tube or VR most of the time. MySpace and Facebook get much duller the longer you're on them. Also, it's true that I meet the best kind of people via the VR community, for the most part.
I came seeking people with imagination, a creative edge.. sadly with few exceptions I am still searching.
darkiria was over run by people plugging their Myspace pages. Most myspace profiles promote other site profiles.. something I don't find here, thus.. I say"The View" VR is easy on the eyes.

I came out of curiosity and found you could be pretty creative here. I like the journals and being able to make the profiles to your own tastes...not just some ready made background. It is a game more or less so that is different and people have the link lines to show where their other profiles and such are. I have profiles in the others as well and more, but if I feel like it, it is in my links list. I am not looking for any type of person to get to know. I'm just kind of seeing what happens. There is something about it that keeps one coming back for more.
Well, when I first joined here I joined mostly out of curiousity. I tried vampire freaks before and I didn't like it that much, it seemed a little too much for show I guess you could say. But when I first joined here I was very interested and I learned that the people here are very open minded especially on the forums. I love the topics that others start, it's very creative and thought provoking. I find great comfort here compared to myspace or facebook. I have both and I love this community the most because we all have a dark side that we are willing to share. :]
Tried myspace but got sick of it real quick and I do have a facebook account which my fiance is on so I use that. I accidently (searching for vampires online) came to vr and haven't left. I love it here, made a lot of friends and even met my future husband on here too. I can't pin point one thing that has kept me on vr, Im addicted to it.
