The traditional image of heaven is that of Light and bright Halo's. I wonder is there a darker area set aside for those who prefer beer and rock music? Discuss.
Now that would be contradictory to popular religious believes that outcast such "dark" scenerios.
"The devil is in all of you" - Rob Zombie
Come on now... I just don't believe God has a stick shoved that far up his bum... If he didn't want us to have alcohol it would not have been created, he is called the creator I believe for a reason.
This is how I envision Heaven, "My love and I sitting on a nice sofa in the dark with dim lights and drinks. A fountain of blood in the middle of the room. Oh and I cheese plate.... "
I like the dim section of Heaven..... I can't believe I won't get in... almost no one can say no to me when I put my mind to it....
I do believe that their may be domething slighty gone wrong with me....
That's not all that bad
I don't believe that a few mistakes preclude you from inclusion, especially necessary dietary considerations....
Maybe heaven happens before we die..like right before. In our minds?
To me,heaven is a place(in the mind) where we become what we have always wanted to become. And Hell is where we go and become what we always feared wed become.Personally, because of that,it makes no difference whether it is light or dark.I can feel at peace in the dark just as I can in the light.
All humans want to believe and to have the hope that when their life end, another begin. But, what do we know, to prove that heaven or hell exist? I do know that life exist because I am living it. To put too much emphasis in the subject of after dead, is a complex situation. every religion created by man, was created with the idea that if you follow their doctrine, you will be rewarded with a better life. MMm, So, what do they call, better Life? I always asked that question, when those people talked to me, can be in the street or at work. And at the end, there is a confusion in both part, because they can not guarantee an after life.
I'm with you Oceanne. The question and your answer remind me of the Albert Brooks movie, "Defending your life."
Wasn't that impressed with it when I first saw it, but watched it again on t.v. the other night.
Why wait for judgment? Each of us is engaged in answering the most important question, How to maximize the life we've got.
...That is only if you believe in the Bible. Many people believe in different things.
Will there be cookies and juice, that's all we really want to know... what do you think?
Heaven is a place for believers. With that said I'm sure all that believe will expirence a different form Heaven.
I am sure the "believers" and the "non-believers" will experiance something or another, on the individual basis alone.
We all die, the destination is unknown to all of us. If some religious heirarchy wishes to give society false hopes, then that is their call. It is up to the masses to decide for themselves which is the correct assumption before their appointed time of passing comes.
True none of us can say for certain what will happen when we die and once we find out we won't be able to tell anyone what we have learned. So all that is left for now is belief.
As well, for the "believers", all there is left is "faith."
I believe this is a discussion pertaining to different visions of what heaven is like not a debate as to whether or not it exists.
So I'll restate my belief. I feel that for those that believe in heaven and live their life in a manner that allows us entry into heaven we will each expirence a different form of heaven.
Then your "belief" coincides with others like you of which has been prominent throughout this thread.
I only posted my response to you when you put the "belief" system on a pedal stool in your post.
I never meant to put belief on a pedestal. I feel correct to state my belief on the subject since I would be wrong to state it as fact.
I will not argue the point. Back on track with the thread.
My "vision' was a panoramic expanse, one without Horizon, there was a coil of streaming light (simular to fiber optic cables, only without containment) zips of light shot over my head, and merged with the stream.
Suited me fine, and when I am in such a state again, I intend to be a determined spark. i can reason that a rigid person would 'project' less, then a relaxed person.
gaining the proper 'frequency' during life through what ever means plays a role in that, over investing ones self creates a static (as if stuck between channels).
There is more to my vision, that has had a determining factor in how I engage life now.
As this appears a light thread...
For me, heaven is when I close my eyes!
Dig that Ban, a little spot of heaven here on earth, without the due of admitance.
But what if heaven, like many other things in the bible, is a figurative thing. Most "christians" say they were unhappy before they "found jesus" and isnt that what heaven is? Eternal happiness?
*chuckles* Dam right...I would never get in anyway...I could attempt a bribe though!
Okay first.... "I just don't believe God has a stick shoved that far up his bum..." Uhhh....Have you read the first half of the "Bible?" *Laughs*
And Are We saying Vamps may yet get into heaven afterall? Wait until I break the news to My Wife. *Laughs Harder*
But all kidding aside. I tend to share Oceanne's view. Kind of reminds Me of this story I heard awhile back.
This man and his dog were walking along this road. After awhile they come to this set of large pearly gates, and a man dressed in white. The man asks the man in white what it was, to which he replies heaven & that he was expected. The man asks if his dog is allowed to come in too. to which the man in whits replies, he is sorry but no. So the man and his dog continue on down the road to where they find an old farm and barn. And old timer sitting on the porch in overalls and straw hat. The man asks the other if he can rest there awhile, to which he responds " as long as you like. The man then asks if its okay for him to get water for th dog. The man on the porch says sure. The spiket is around back. (Or so that is how I remember the story going)
So it is kind of like the old "Twilight Zone" episode. Who is realy to say which is heaven and which isn't.
Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144,000 people will be raised to heaven
Most people being reborn to this earth after the judgement day.
12,000 from the tribe of Judah,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
12,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
12,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,
12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,
12,000 from the tribe of Joseph,
12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin.
But that is but one belief system!
Have they seen the latest population projections for 2050?
the Chinese are F**T...or perhaps its on a pro-rata basis? either way seems like a bum deal.
Oh no...we're all F**T...
what am I,m talking about I've got an all "Star" pass.LOL.
Life is here to prepare you for the next existance. IMO
Think of all the things you can't take with you, and then think of all the things you will take with you. Those are the things that, without which, you will enter the next world disadvantaged, and even teh things to which you cling on this world, will be a yoke in the next. This disparity of abilities is the difference between heavan and hell. Fortunately, disadvantage, often makes the lessons sink in quicker... if you want to really call that fortunate.
Furthermore... there is the accounting. When all your deeds are weighed, and you can see all teh harm you have caused others, and the multiplication of their effect that it had on others, without the bias of selfishness... will be a hell in and of itself for most. I am saddened now by the ramifications of things I have done without thoughtfulness, how much more accountble will I feel when I understand the full ramifications of misdeeds.
K, In your manner, you exercise those matters personally. casting then to their proper catigory is the key.. not allowing them to become luggage, but storing them properly. Well stated.
I believe each and one of you create heaven and its counter part by forging your own ways and decisions, those who live on fear of their actions find themselves living hell itself, as for those who aspire to follow the things that brings them conformity often find their sole heaven, even if conformity is being a nomad and explore the wild (odd example, but to get the idea across that conformity is not always materialism). For those who live with the idea of afterlife and the rules of a "holy path"- in essence letting another individual to influence/direct your life with the fear of your natural exploration and experimentation practices, seams like caging your existence with oppression and disillusion for a unexplored possibility of its veracity.
I don't believe in life after death, but my Mother says that heaven is what you loved most in life.
Going by her belief Heaven will be full of extremes.
Heaven is just figurative, in the end heaven is the way you perceive it or not if you don't, others for example like to name it 'the other life'.
i think the best thing i can do is enjoy life to my best and stay away from stuff that does not agree with my conscience, that's my idea of heaven, living it to my fullest when i can
If the big beaming pie in the sky appears one day when i die then fine, i will eat it
I feel as most it is what you believe. I feel if we do more good than bad then it weighs out evenly LOL
I like to think that there is a better hereafter than the actual life we live even if we live a very good and charmed life. Alot of different takes on this because of so many different beliefs out there. yet, I would like to think that there is a place for even the ones who are not so great as far as be a good person. I mean it is said that we are not *Perfect and well I do know know any Perfect people myself, not that there are none out there whom think thye are perfect.
To me Perfect would be very boring and stale LOL I would be happy to just have a couch and maybe all my favorite things and loved ones to be with me and just chilling and being happy. LOL
I would think that the Dimmer side of heaven would be filled quicker than the Brighter side lOL since only so many can be considered the most unconditional caring and loving among us.
My dad passed in April and well i have yet, to hear back from him as too how it all is up there or even down there, yet, I feel he is one who is in the Brighter side of heaven. many would say that who knew him so I would be happy to just make it to the dimmer side much less the brighter side.
Really good question....Thread.
isnt that why there is a hell? for the darker side of heaven.
well that is what I always thought yet, who is to say that heaven (if you believe in it) does not have like sections for the ones who were good yet, maybe did things they had to because they felt it was what they needed to do to surviv.. soo I guess I can let you know when I get there LOL Joking. good question and thread.
Heaven is a hard concept for many to grasp. There are those who would think of heaven as a truly dull, boring place. Who wants to live in the clouds, where all there is is singing and worship? Well, I can only assume heaven is nothing like our strange delusions. The classical idea of walking in an endless mass of clouds and blue, and how could heaven possibly be paradise if it is the same for everyone? If it is an eternity of clouds? Who would want that? I should think noone. I can only assume that heaven being an eternal paradise will be different for every person. That's not to say we will all be separated, more likely everyone perceives it differently. Heaven will most likely reflect one's soul and their interests.
Let me paint you a picture. Heaven for me would be a place of eternal night, not darkness, but a perfect midnight. Cool, crisp air not too cold, and not too hot, just cool, mild. The sky would be an expanse of purples and blues so clear that all the stars would be visible. A multitude of silver rivers running against the velvet sky, and a full moon to light the ground below. Rainbows? Who would need them when there are snakes of color slithering through the sky like the northern lights?
The soil at my bare feet would be soft, no weeds or thorns to pierce my flesh. The grass would be a rich green, accented by the darkness. There would be luminescent flowers of cool colors, and a clear blue lake surrounded by beautiful rock formations and weeping willows and cherry trees always in bloom. Who could forget the music of the night? There would be the mild chirping of crickets. The occasional hoot of an owl, the wolves singing their mournful melody. Yes, I can see there being animals in heaven, there were in the Garden of Eden, and that was practically heaven on earth.
What else? Ah, yes, there would be the solitude of it all the ability to be on my own when need be, but ever present would be the ability to reach out to the many other souls, my family, those who I know not now, but will know and love then. Most importantly of all? Lilith. Freya. Their omnipresence, Their protection and love constantly surrounding me, keeping me safe and comfortable.
Is that not a prettier picture than clouds? I would certainly think so. Heaven is not overrated, it is misinterpreted underrated. It is there for those who would reach out for it for those who seek it.
Hmmm... if heavan is adaptive; does this mean that heavan for athiests would have no God presiding?
That an athiest could go to an afterlife which they do not believe in unfettered by an Overlord, so mean as to have let them in, against their wishes?
Heaven is what we expect it to be, to make the transition of going over easier and more comfortable, from what I have learned and read about it.
Also, that, the things of this earth are really not a concern over there like they were here. I have wondered about like, for meds...if we need them here, would we miss them there? John Edward said we don't have the same emotional needs there as we do here. Good, 'cause I don't want panic attacks over there and no Xanax.
I take anything John Edward says, the same way I receive a Carneys Pitch..
Nothing personal Jamie, I just feel there are more sincer people to spectulate on After Life matters then a charloten like Edward.. please be aware I have been involved with Mediums in the past.
" Hell must be a really swell place since everyone is trying to keep us out of it."
-Al Capone-
Thank you Jamie for making me roll on the floor.
The idea the Creator, master of all realms and nuclear fision, black holes, life and all manifestations, great and small has overlooked your Xanax prescription is completely wonderful.
Your ability to improve my six pack is truly a gift my friend.
John Edwards is as sincere has he believes himself to be. As we all do. Hard not to actually. It's how we process information. Another thread topic I guess. But anyone one can criticize. And anyone does it seems.
There a few believe systems in the New age that will tell you there are different levels of what we now call Heaven. But I'll only mention a source that been around for a very long time. Krishna clearly tells us in the Gita that there are a 'dimmer switch' for those that deserve one. 'For those that worship the Devas and Elementals - to them they will go to. To those that workship the Shining Ones, there they will go. But to those that workship Me ....' You get the idea. Not going to look it up right know but its in there.
I have too Dabbler. I used to be a professional psychic. And I wasn't full of crap. If I recall, you always have shot down psychics, channelers and mediums of any sort in the forum.
I know not everyone is truthful about having abilities, and I don't believe just anyone or anything. I need me some proof before I will incorporate their beliefs into my own. It has to resonate within me. Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean everyone that shows they can are fakes.
It is the air of authority they project to the grieving.
as if they exclusively have such "confirmed" insight.
It is all speculative, the non-commital, vaguers wear thin as the medium expends their Seminar bookings.
It is well notable that there is plenty of Infighting in their ranks, and they shred each others pitches far worse then skeptics.
They have all been caught, Praag, Silvia, and John, using Cold, Warm, and Hot reading tech..
In some degree I endorse the local neighborhood reader. The practice sets expectations that may eventually conflict what attentive people recall them saying, either in a reading, or book, and their "assurances' based on the concept unravel.. I guess one has too see the fall out to understand why I am concerned..
Whether we refer to it as heaven, Valhalla, or by some other name it is exactly what each of us believe it to be. We all have our own vision and our own version of the truth, and each of us are correct. While we live.
What we will find after death, nobody knows. Perhaps nothing.
But we spend far too much time worrying about what comes next when we can't even deal with what is here now.
I don't really care what heaven, or hell is .. or even if and where I eventually end up. I mean .. what on earth is the point of worrying about it? You might as well just be yourself, do the things you want to do and have a laugh.
well I am hoping it is like my favorite movie with Robin Williams, What Dreams May Come.. that wewill mak our own heaven and even our own hell if we were to go to hell. Yet, again I may die and just end up as critter food and mulch, till I just blend in and even blow soem of me into the air.
Seriously we do not know, but we all have our own want of heaven/ or hell. And how we will see it nad be in it.
