I've been involved in a many discussions on which is more dangereous to encounter a Demon or a Vampire?? The discussion always turns into a good debate due to the many types of Demons there are so would love to hear anyones views on wich with the type of Demon and as to why there opinion is for it!!! Have fun hope to get a real good discussion started.
TrueBloodForLife: MISTRESS KATHY
I don't see either one being dangerous. Especially vampires.
As a matter of fact, when I think of vampires, they remind me of a little girl in a pink dress, pushing a hot-dog through a doughnut.
Personally, it's not "what" you know, it's "who" you know. Demons and vampires just do not possess enough power to bother me.
I sort of view them alike in a lot of ways. Vampyrs can do a lot of things outside of the body just as well as anyone called demonic. Most spiritual people want to learn how to master the mind's capabilities and in doing so they want to master their spiritual selves and see how far they can go with it. The demon can possess or take over a body....I have never heard a vampyr being able to do that, however if the vampyre carries some demonic traits....I don't see why they couldn't. If humans were really MORE than say your average human or mudane.....so they will be in spirit. I guess if i had to vote them as seperate entities, I would go with the demonic for the simple fact that demonics are more told in ancient cultures and the vampyr was introduced later.
You have a very good point on the Demonic, however a Demon or Demonic possessed person can be exorcised and the Demon driven from the body and realm, and even if not posessing a body a demon can be banished or driven from the realm and once a Vampire bites you and turns you, your forever a Vampire:) I Loved your view though it was very well thought out an nicely written an worded. You seem to think things out quite nicely and have given me somthing to think about as well.
To answer the other question More dangereous physically or spiritually??? HHHMMMM well now I muct think I would have to go with both considering Vampires can also glamor they can twist your spiritual being as well to be whatever they want you to believe so therefor can cause you to harmyourself so I would say on bith levels. You made a good point and an excellent question:)
Well ty i appreciate that and you too have a good point as well :)
Myth it would be demons. Now days fictional Vampires are woosies, especially twilight, and True Blood Vampires.
True Blood Vamps are easy enough to avoid, Dab -- just don't invite them in, or go to their club. In fact, just avoid the bayou altogether.
Hmmmm, good point, Dab. I'd sell my soul for blackened catfish and cheese grits.
I think it comes down to which type of harm is seen as more 'dangerous'. I think the inherent 'danger' of demons is that of spiritual damage. Ya know, the 'appealing seduction of sin' that The Church warns against. Giving into sin separates you from God and thus, damages your soul.
And so on.
I suppose vampires could also cause a similar harm to one's soul, especially if you become a vampire willingly, but their mission is mainly physical harm -- they want your blood, not necessarily your soul.
Vampires, nope. Demons, yes. Demons tend to always "attack", those who claimed that they don't exist. So, Let make a deal, write the following in a piece of paper and place it under your pillow tonight.
666 Satan, leader of all demons, posses me tonight, and show me, that you and your army, really exist. 666
I don't mess with demons. I don't agree with some comment that demons don't have the power to interfere with the physical world, well, may be you are wrong, may be those people never have the pleasure of meeting them.
No one said demons don't have the power to influence the physical realm. I said, "demons and vampires don't have the power to bother me."
If they bother other people, then those people need to figure out why.
I would suspect anyone with a suggestible psyche would be powerless to the concept of demons, and anyone not wanting to own their lack of impulse control would find demons a convenient scapegoat.
I think most os us agree that demons are more dangerous the vamps.demons..like alot says..can
hurt you on the inside..but also the outside.A demon can possess anyone or anything, and they could care less about whats to happen with them in this relm.
the only way a vampire could be more dangerous..is
if he based his entire life or exsistance into torturting
your entire life here.
a demon will kill you, slowly or quickly, and not only that..
he or she will also kill everyone around you.Vampires
rather keep you alive.to them,its a game.
I think they are both equal. Demons can be dangerous spiritually just as much as vampires can. But all in all they are not dangerous its the way people use there powers that are dangerous...
If we are talking about the historical folkloric legends about these things then I would think the demon. There are supposedly ways to rid oneself of a vampire but demons come in all sizes and shapes depending on belief. I consider those connected more to religion so I don't believe in them. I think they are just labels by some who want to discredit something. I am not sure if those cases of exorcisms are really anything but a mental aberration of the individual. As for fictional vampires, I have no problem with any of them because they are from the imagination of the authors and should be respected as merely fantasy, made up.
Magickally according to what I know, demons or angels, if you believe in them can be controlled and made to do good things or bad things...either one of them because demons are suppose to be fallen angels but many other entities get this label as well, like old gods and goddesses and the list goes on depending on the country of origin. If these demons predate Judeo/Christianity, according to legend exorcisms of that ilk won't work, so you can't get them out and they lie about who they are. I would think these little nasties to be the hardest to deal with but I still don't exactly believe in them.
I'm going to sound like a big chicken but a demon would be worse to me then a vampire. I think pysically a vampire would suck( funny). But a vampire I don't think would affect a person the same way as a demon. Demons are those unspeakable creatures. Anybody that has seen a demon doesn't even speak about it. Maybe years later.
The realm of demons includes every god from every religion other than Christianity. This includes Cthulhu, Marduk, Ares, Beelzebub, etc.
basically every dark power is theirs.
Vampires were first thought to be humans with demonic assailants attached to them, so really that makes the vampire a demon.
Also, when things that have dealt with hell on a day-to-day basis since time started, and have dealt exclusively with torture since their fall are coming after you,
GO FOR THE LEECH INSTEAD.
At least then you get a sparkle and some distant romance (At least you get a chance with it, i mean)
well you can conjure demons and not vampires
so i would have to say demons though us vampires can be very unpredictable at times
all in all i would have to say it depends which demon/vampire you get in contact with and what are the circumstances
one thing i would have to ask is...are you referring to a physical danger or more of a spiritual danger?
I honestly believe that vampire's although there are many different kinds of Demons are more Dangerous because vampire's were made to trick humans and draw them in as apposed to demons ware most can not hide there true forms, but as said before there are many kinds of demons and some appear as the persons most desires which can be just as dangerous. so it honestly depends.
weird... I did the "666 Satan, leader of all demons, posses me tonight, and show me, that you and your army, really exist. 666" for shits and giggles... cuz I'm an idiot like that... I was fine, but my brother complined of horrible nightmares last night .... but anywho...
I'd say demons, as they are nothing but negative.
"well you can conjure demons and not vampires"
"Vampires were thought to be humans with demon assailants attached to them"
Most people have a hard time teleporting
In many prechristian religions vampires are simply a type of demon rather than a completely different creature. I think this is a pretty accurate way of catagorizing vampires, or hungry ghosts as they have been called. While we do enjoy the idea of romanticizing vampires, in the end they are a dead predator that survives by feeding off of blood or energy.
Now we do have the Hollywood take on Vampires, but could you really have any respect for a predator that behaves in the juvenile & spoiled manner those depicted on True Blood do? While the show is amusing, and all in all fun to watch - it certainly is not an accurate representation of a vampire, instead a dramatice soap opera made up from scrapes of european vampire lore.
I don't believe all "demons" are negative btw. There are some cultural accounts that some were actually of good uses to their Gods and took on demonic roles but not all of them are always negative. They could be enlightening in a lot of ways. One just has to go beyond the taught perceptions and seek out their OWN truths of how to define something because i feel that most things that have gained a bad rep weren't exactly as bad as they were made out to be in the first place. It depends on who's doing the story-telling.
In some movies, angels have took on some possessive traits or "messengers" through possesions. That would make them no less than a form of demonic in a sense.
But they still wouldn't actually BE demons. They'd be gods playing the roles of demons, that's completely different from actual demons.
Really? So what is the difference between a God-like being taking on the role of a demon compared to an "actual" demon? Just curious because in my viewpoint, anything in the spiritual realm can take on whatever role they wanted, just like people can do here on Earth. You can good, you can be bad....why not the spiritual?
We have to remember what we have all read and seen on TV:
In Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, a Demon named Amel took over the body of a human: Akasha, making her the first Vampire. But before that, Demons were almost powerless and had only a little bit of influence on the human race.
Angel and Buffy used to beat the crap out of Demons in every episode along with Willow, Tara, and Giles who could usually make them go poof with a bit of Witchcraft.
We can all see that Demons can and will mess up your life if you give'em the opportunity and they guarentee a completely ruined house and bad hair day.
But a Vampire will almost always suck the very life out of you. (except for those Twilight wussy's).
My money is on the Vamps!
The biggest problem with dealing with the demons are that.... well.... they never come alone.
With vampires at least it's a solitary hunter, and if we're going with the oldest accounts of the vampires and not this "Superhero-esque" stuff then they're pretty much just like you, only they try to bite you. which is tough for people to do to eachother when the other is intent on stopping the biter and said biter doesnt have surprise on their side.
i believe vampires are more dangerous....the reasons are these..one---they are everywhere waiting and wanting to play...and we all know what kind of games....two -- they dont need to be conjure to be here, three,,demons can only attack you or others if some one is possessed or if you release them around you..as appose to a vampire. who can be even *in your dreams. taunting you and feeding off you. with there mind powers you have no chance....they make you do things with out you even knowing. then they erase your memory and you dont know what hit you.
Really if you think about vampires are known to be part demon and angel so they are one in the same .They are both dangerous I believe demons are worse because they can posses souls .
both combined r a dangerous mix just don't piss them off
XxImmonrtalangelxx - there's as many classifications for the mythology of the supernatural, a god like being taking on the role of a demon could be many things. For one it could actually be a god. Or maybe some genus of faye.
Things like televison and American fiction/smut authors are not exactly expert sources on vampires, demons or anything for that matter. They grab bits and pieces of the mythology and fill it in with Hollywood.
Ps- there are different definitions for vampires depending on nationality. Oriental vampires are water dwelling hungry ghost that behave much like sirens by drowning their prey, gypsie vampires are the corpses of dead spouses that return on the aniversary for sex, and so on.
Demons however are fundimentally the same through out cultures.
One thing I bloody hate anne rice for: making people think vampires all relate to white european folklore. Well that & that god forsaken movie Queen Of The Damned.
Actually TheMonsterYouAdore, in response to that...the information i got that from didn't come from TV or anything of the sort.....
It comes from the Hindu culture of Asuras and Devas. There are a lot of cultural stories that haven't exactly taken the "highlight" on TV, at least just yet. Of course there's more esp within some native american folklore that needs to be looked at as well. :)
The only problem I see is, That Demon are active as today, but, Vampires, are dormant. Always there is something about demons possession, but, I never hear anything about Vampires.
Demonds are way more harmful to the human spirit then vampires Vampires are gentle creatures compared to Demonds jmo.
its kind of a toss up between the two. I would have to say its all about personal prefrence.
A demon is usually more violent than a vampire and will stop at nothing to destroy your exsistance. it will kill, trick, and destroy everything close to you just to get TO you.
A vampire, while to some would be concidered a demon, is more of a seductive creature. while it tends to feed on the living, it also can make rational choices on keeping you around or throwing you to the vultures. A vampire can also be compationate.
Demons tend to be more creatures of hatred than love and compation, although some vampires are like this as well. I've met plenty. so I guess its just a matter of what you look at and what you would think is more dangerous.
Demons are more blind rage and hatred and destruction while a vampire is more like the devil tempting you with stuff you don't have
i wonder who's tallying up everyone's responses to be the deciding factor?
This depends on your definition of dangerous. If you mean life-threatening, then toss a coin. If you mean violent, it depends on the demon &&the vampire. I guess everything depends on the disposition of the vampire &&demon respectively.
Its not really a matter of which one is more dangerous, so much as which one is more pissed off at you really.
Cause we all know when sitting around the ole poker table with Drac and Supreme Torture supervisor Ugg from the 8th ring of hell that a big insult will be had. Either its the garlic in the chip dip that dracs been chomping down or the bible you forgot next to the toilet that Ugg thought was a magazine when he was cursing the house demon style.
Cabrion I really love the points you make.
I've heard of cases I can't say if there true or not but were ppl have went to other dimensions and have seen and went through what the would call a demonic experience. As I said before they were to scared to even speak of it if they didn't lose their minds afterwards.
My question now is whom actually experienced a vampire or a demon on a physical or spiritual level? And be honest
If we are talking about real vampires and real demons, then I have to say Demons, because they can do more than drink your blood. They can own your soul into perpetuity. I would rather be turned into a Vampire over being a Demon's toy and servant, because that is what Demons usually want for their favor.
Just my opinion anyway.
=)
I have never believed in demons. I have always felt it was sort of a catch-all term. Seems many are those that were someone else's god or got demoted in some way like offspring of rebelling angelics and so on. It would depend on the vampire and which country it was from to pit them together. I would say perhaps the demon as described in medieval lore.
As for television and movies, seems that Twilight vampires keep coming up but the earlier stories are only about a few of them. Some of the other clans have armies and significant powers and are pretty nasty. Same goes for True Blood, they are not all nice. Fiction is just that, though and should not be taken for anything more than entertainment and since all fictional writings whether books or screenplays, etc., they shouldn't be any yardstick to measure by because they are made up in the mind of the author and can take any form they so choose. Very often fictional vampires are also called by some to be demonic in nature, why I don't know but I have to go with what I said prior, over all I think the demon.
my answer is that they are both equal
there are some demons who are not that bad like your imps same with vampires but then you have your real evil demons and vampires out there
so it depends on which one you cross paths with
I think demons would be more dangerous because they can do damage and influence at a soul level.
I wondering, As How many Demons are part of VR, compare to "real" Vampires?
Demons would frighten me more.
If you are up against a vampire either you are made immortal or you face an early death. I am sure there could be other outcomes, but these are just what I am focusing on at the moment.
In either case you still have something of importance.
In the case of being of being 'turned' into a vampire, you still have some sort of life to live. Unless you choose to bathe in the sun and Hollywood tells us that if this happens turns you to ash and you blow away. If you choose not to go that route than you have some form of 'freedom' to live. Yes, there would be limitations, but you would still be 'alive'.
Demons can lash out in possession of a person, violent acts and I would think other ways. Even though there are steps you can take to battle these entities, how can you truly battle something that isn't physically there? I know some people will think faith and spiritual power, but what if you do not have enough belief to defeat?
It is said that a person can be haunted and it doesn't matter if they move, they will still face problems. So who really wants a constant struggle, and possible lifetime dealing, with something so negative?
And what about your soul?
If you believe that Demons can harvest your soul and take you to the Depths of Hell, do you really want to live out your eternity like that? I don't. I would want my soul to rest peaceful and not in a place filled with fire and brimstone.
But of course all this is just based on the ideas of Hollywood and my personal imagination.
but by Hollywood terms a demon could be anything really as long as its scary and evil. I vampire doesn't have to be evil.
Not all vampires have to be evil though not all have to be good either. It is like a mystery that keeps people guessing of if a vampire you run across will be good or bad. Demons however are they all completely bad I do not believe so. Though I would have to say that I am neutral on this that it can go either way depending on what one believes about both.
"The realm of demons includes every god from every religion other than Christianity. This includes Cthulhu, Marduk, Ares, Beelzebub, etc...."
"We have to remember what we have all read and seen on TV..."
"A vampire, while to some would be concidered a demon, is more of a seductive creature..."
Seriously with this nonsense?
totally depends on the definition. it could be (and has) been suggested that vampires are simply a form of demon.
also christianity in the middle ages did regard all other gods as demons as well. so a demon could be a form of elder god.
just depends i would think.
~W~
Just my quick take on the question is that presumably the vampire was once human and thus could retain some of their humanity. To my knowledge, demons are not typically first human and then demon, making them a wholly different and 'inhuman' creature.
but the vampire in euro folklore was considered to be a dead body, a husk, inhabited by an evil spirit...
so could be considered a demon in human form.
~W~
I personally think it all depends on how powerful and skilled the vampire or demon is,either could be more dangerous.
i think both would be weak compaired to man man takes what he can use and throw the rest a way man kills just for sport man kills its on people in wars for there god domination or to protect there own way of life man has wiped intire species from existence because of greed so if i had to pick one id have to make a 3rd choice and say man
vampyrs are more dangerous we have free will unlike demons who do someone bidding. Further more the vampyric will in stronger than anything else.
Since I consider vampires demons (fallen angels) I think that they are equally dangerous.
i would say demons... vampires know how to control their power too much to just run wild
Well the vampire can often co-exist and extend symbiotic life within the human.
The deamon rarely allows its host to survive and invariable this is a far more destructive relationship.
Thus the deamon is more dangerous to the host and society in general. However its weakness is its reckless hubris, whereas the Vampire is not so prone to its omnipotent nature.
Spiritually Demons are probably more dangerous. When it comes to physically, it depends on the type of vampire and the type of demon, But in general, I'd say demons are the most dangerous in my opinion.
I see both as dangerous, though I see Demons as being higher up on the food chain so to speak. While Vampires have only a few ways to kill or attack a person, Demons have so many more options and methods. Vampires have their hold of prey with their power, but Demons will enter and live in you. Demons are more demented in their torture.
The broken psyche whose mind has broken as a result of the misuse of one or another.
Demons are they are controlled by a higher being than Vampires
one can rip your thoat out.
the other can rip your 'soul' out.
Hmmm, either way you're brown bread.
vampires dont bother anyone unless we are hungry or provoked. also we are very ego hungry so mess with our ego and all types can be dangerous.
I have to say demons, cause they can posess u and cloud your thoughts.Once possed one loses all control over oneself.
With all due respect, "Vampire King", I am a vampyre and I care not for egos. So please do not lump us all together, we're very diverse in personality.
Back to the question:
With my knowledge, I would really have to consider what manner of vampyre the person would be up against or demon for that matter. Some vampyres also practice witchcraft and can hurt people on a metaphysical level if they so chose. The most difficult part about demons is that "normal" people don't see them coming and, more often than not, they are not armed with the appropriate knowledge to handle them or are spiritually...I don't want to say "weaker", but simply susceptible.
demons can be a pain in the arss, can make you kill others or your self, vampires just do it.
well both feed on fear but not in same way a vampire might let you go if they are full but if a demon is full no such thing all they want is to bring you down they dont care to kill the body its the spirit that they are after so yes i would say demon is the most feared because vampire can not take you spirit but a demon can take you over if you fear it enough ..
i think we need a definition....
we have a pretty good idea of what a vampire might be (or can be), but what exactly is a demon anyway?
are they not just a part of the judeo christian belief system?
if not...then what are they? lesser gods?
~W~
I realize that this could create another thread really. But nonetheless, wouldn't Vampires be more dangerous if they indeed have the ability to kill demons?
(The source of that is an extremely old story, I am only quoting that tiny fact out of it.)
I also believe that Vampires have been made to seem like gentle creatures in the modern age rather than something to be feared. Since most people feel like they know more about Vampires, they don't fear them as much as they used to. Verses demons which still are largely unknown.
Demons have yet to be proven as existant. Vampires on the other hand... many, many different vampire type crimes appear all over the news. So even if those type crimes were just by those who would be considered as predatory in nature and giving a bad light to vampires in general, I think that the modern day vampire type predators would be considered as the most dangerous. Not nessessarily the vampire itself, but those who type cast themselves into the stereotype.
we could take this a step further a weak minded vampire possessed by any demon LOL now there would be trouble muhaha
i would agree with that but i must say vampire cause we can trick the human mind into trusting us though deoms are just as dangerous.
I don't necessarily believe in demons.
Malicious entities. spirits etc, yeah. Those are often called 'demonic' but for me to say that those are demons would be to acknowledge a completely malevolent force.
- I don't think anything or anyone is completely evil or completely good. We all have aspects of both, just for some reason or another are led to feed one side of us more than another.
And as far as the Christian views go, I don't believe all that either. To believe in those type of demons is to believe in Satan and to do that means you believe in the Christian version of God and I can't say I'm 100% on that either.
I also don't believe in the 'classical' vampire.. I have met people who have a need for blood or for the energy of other people, but they are all just that.... people. And until I meet a reanimated corpse that drinks blood, I will still think of real vampires as living humans.
So reality aside, if we are talking about myths, legends etc then I would have to go with demons. Bodily possession is a pretty frightening idea. To have something trap you inside yourself and harm you from the inside out.... :/
And as for vampires, the mythological ones are far more scary than today's romanticized dark hero stuff. If you go back far enough you will see where vampires and zombies are often confused one for the other. The lines blur in the reanimated corpses feeding from the living accounts back then.
