I have been haveing more waking dreams in the past month. I am trying to find out if this is more of the awakening process or Astral Project. When I am awake I can be doing something and then I am in a diffrent place and time. it is like slipping from one life to my past one. Has this happened to any one else and is this part of the awakening process?

I'm a little confused.

I thought astral projection was where you sleep and, in your dream, travel to another place where you are able to actually do stuff: control your own dream or actually appear to someone.

You say that you are awake and then slip into another place. Is this a waking dream?

I'm not picking holes, I just need to be sure that I'm talking about the same thing that you are.

well, there is more than one way to skin a cat. All people's havce different brain chemistry and the different chemistries are going to have different trippyness.

I would say don't change a thing, keep doing whatever you are doing, even going to a certain pool hall to shoot pool and there is a certain type of incense burning in there. You never know what the trigger is, and I suspect that you shoould try to find out the trigger so you have control over the trips, rather than the other way around.

You can astral travel at any time..you dont need to be asleep, just relaxed and in a meditative state..lots of times waking dreams can tell of a possible future event.
The more you do it the more you learn to control it..Practice as with everything makes it easier and better..many names are used for it too. how many times are u bored to tears and someone says "quit daydreaming". So if you think about it, you have really doing it since you were little. You are just aware of it now and what it is

Astral projection ~ It is the projection of ones soul. The ability to travel outside the body to another place. One does not have to be in a sleeping state although there are some that can only project while they sleep. I myself do not have to sleep.

Dream Walking ~ This is the ability to walk in anothers dream, if the dream walker is (no other way to put this) good at dream walking they can also control the other persons dream.

Walking dreams ~ A walking dream in my perpective has always been a sort of de' sha vu' (spelling) situtation. It doesnt mean you are sleeping and could indeed be remembering bits of the past.

I personally see this situation as perhaps an awakening.... Could be of a gift, or anything else for that matter. I would carry paper and a pen, and when I come back for my walking dream jot it down, and see what you are coming up with as a whole.... If it is an awakening it will frequent you more.

Another thing you might want to do some research on is "Lucid Dreaming". It is basically where you can "control" the dreams you have, similar to astral projection. I dont know a lot about it, but it could be a possibility to explain what is happening to you.....

i think alot of people here have pretty much told ya what it is ..... the best thing to do is get some books and research on it........i used to do it alot ....i have jornals i have kept when i have returned and sometimes it was like picking up were i left off and outhers was like i would go over what i had already seen...... learning to control it would help alot..........but learning your own trigger would be a good help as someone has already stated......

id say it is significant to something but your "awakening" of what is in question. as this isnt a vampire exclusive thing... normal people can do this as well. but maybe your mind is opening up more.

I had an addiction to unplugging my reality.

I knew each time I weas doing it I was getting more and more distant from the very reality I was trying to escape. Well, it may be all well and nice to run on the fields as an 8 year old and look up into the hills and feel timeless. To not know what is on the front page or where there is a war in the world, to not know your family, to not even know what year it is, to not even recognize the room you are in or what country you are currently in, to not know the President of the UNited States.

Am I getting through to you? Do you see where I am getting at?

Proceed with caution. It is already happening, it is taking over your wake states. I had a trigger to get me into it, and if I didn't use the trigger then I was alright.

You are slipping interdimensionally which might be unhealthy even though somehow interesting.....

i would think that what u are talking about has nothing to do with astral projection, but your mind leaving your body as transfixing in in another environment could be a serious psychological disorder

I agree that it doesn't sound like an Astral projection. Seems either it's your imagination or something else that is taking you elsewhere.

I agree, it doesn't sound like astral projection. As someone else mentioned - it could be psychological. My first question would be are you stressed lately? Hypnagogic hallucinations are called waking sleep can could be related to what is happening to you.
"During the hypnagogic state, an individual may appear to be fully awake, but has brain waves indicating that the individual is technically sleeping. Also, the individual may be completely aware of their state, which enables lucid dreamers to enter the dream state consciously directly from the waking state (see wake-initiated lucid dream technique). Many artists, musicians, architects, engineers, and others demanding creativity to be successful have benefited from hypnagogia, where the mind can be free and open to creative and new ideas."

I find it interesting that most seem more concerned about what to call this, rather than any actual input on the act itself...As a mind becomes more clear the barriers between one life and another are easily pasted through...It appears that you are accidentily shifting to other lives/realities...Looking for any commonality, times, circumstances anything that might give you more control of this ability...If you have more specific questions, feel free to message me....

It seems like there is no clear cut answer here at the moment and I really can't add much more than the others.

I think it is something that you need to control, maybe connect the 'dream' with a trigger like Vampariah says.

If it isn't controlled it could happen when you're driving or something.

You ask about the difference between the alpha and the delta, but the more important question you should seek the answer to are the malleable properties of time and perception itself.

well, I said proceed with caution, I don't care if it is Aphaysia or what not, I tried to start a thread on the value of hearing voices and it got erased.

If society makes you think your special ability is crazy then you tend to think you are crazy too. It is a screwed up world and the brain tries to rationalize a new place in it with altered brain function. That is all it is either voices or visions, or being in LIMBO.

I have no fear of being crazy therefore I am not, if I allow what other people think of me to affect me then I would change. Yes a person is more suitably defined as crazy if their value in their place in society plummets, and this is the rule of thumb for all mental disorders, but if you can fnd a beneficial place for you in this life, then I say more power to you. It is just impossible to do with all the judgment on your soul happening all the time. Mothers are the worst for that, they always make you doubt yourself. Anyone who doubts yourself should be kept at a distance.

But, being aphaysiatic can be dangerous, it is trippy, and you might go to a place and never come back. It is a gift, but a blessing can be a curse in disguise. I can see why you want to control it because obviously you are losing some control.

Sleeping dreams can be controlled also, I suspect that if you make a connect in the subconscious dreamstate dream control it may carry over to the wake state, and then it would inessence be as you call it astral projection.

Stop drinking tequila.

Yeah, I would say you need to find out what triggers this and learn to control it. I don't think it's exactly safe to be slipping out of your body several times a day without warning . . .

Try practicing more of your religion. I've had really horrible dreams this school year and I've been praying and reading the bible a lot (I'm Christian) and I haven't had one bad dream since. I'm not sure if it will work for Wicca, Jedaism, Santanism or whatever your religion is, but it worked soooooo good for me.

yeah that is cool, go back in time and ask some dude how to take control of your dreams in the dream. That is definately the best answer, especially since it appears you are going to be stuck in a walking dream and you will have no alternative.

No I wouldn't read the bible to solve the problem outright. Distraction is not the answer, the answer is you need an answer not distraction.

The Bible is like the dictionary, it has everything in it, in life perhaps all you need is only two books and you got everything, the dictionary and the Bible you need not any other book, because they both got everything. This is a set up for the people who think I just slammed the bible and stopped reading along time ago.

If only the Bible would have like a search function where you could scan to the part that discusses such phenomena, for I am sure such information is provided in the bible, it is just impossible to find the information in a hay stack needle.

Time seems to be of the essence here, and you do not have time to read the bible to find that needle in the haystack, in theory the answer has already been given you in this thread, you just have to apply what has been posted for your uses, but if you desire to find out a different trigger mechanism, and get an anchoring experience out of it to wean yourself off of unintended trippy tripping.... then you can contact me and I will teach you the addiction problem I had, I will give you my methodone of slding quantum leaping and astral walking. It is good to have two tools, just like the Bible or the dictionary.

There is nothing wrong with him it is perfectly normal I do it to and "triggers" are the other places at this point he can't control it I would like to find out more about where you going that would help me tell you exactly who or what the trigger is You however are quite powerful because
one:not very many people can remember doing it.
two: Not very many can do it when awake either.
if you would like to be in control of it next time you go some where say I control time here and there. I'm not bowing to your will and whomever is doing this should let you control it but beware it must make them angry. If you would like to know anything else send me a message and I shall tell you.

In my honest opinion, I agree with most people. I do not think it has anything to do with a psychological disorder, but that it is a subconcious awareness of what is going on in your life. Can you often relate what you experience in these waking dreams to what is going on in your current life? It could be that your subconcious is trying to help you make sense of problems at hand. Do not underrule the fact that you could just be very talented. Just be sure to learn how to control it because no one here would want any harm done to you due to a lack of control. Remember that anything can be dangerous, even if it appears to be pure.

See I thought Astral Projection was when you really wanted to be somewhere or tell someone something and you all of a sudden are snatched from your body and reform doing wehatever it is you want to be doing. Then I thought that waking dreams are when like you dream of the future. I dunno maybe I'm just untrained in this kinda thing. The dreams of the future are pretty amazing though!

I agree with finding out what triggers it, like someone said, it might happen when you are driving or something and you or someone else could get hurt. The journal seems like a good thing, but I would also add to it what I was doing BEFORE the "Lucid Dream" occured to try to find the "cause". I have only experienced astral projection once as a child and it was while I was fully asleep, not awake.

Once again it is not Astral projection and it is not a Lucid Dream it is a rare gift what he is doing and it can leave you open for possesion if you are not careful I need to know more to be able to narrow down why or what is triggers this to happen since he can't control it yet.

How long have you had the ability?

Have the frequencies been increasing?

Have the trips been getting longer and longer?

Does a headache come on or any vision problems happen simultaneously?

I don't believe in Science at all, but they have diagnostic tools. If you answered yes to some of my questions, then I would say get a brain scan. There could be a blockage, pressure on nerve or blood vessel feeding the area responsible for left brain time association, and as the left brain shuts down your creative brain takes over the clock of your soul, and instead of a number or a date defining the time, you get an era, it is more magical mystical, and hell I would love to have the ability, but all last nioght I thought about where you could be headed, and I was too weak to write, but still I thought about the problem from all angles.

Fjdor Dosteyveski's book the IDIOT has a scene where he goes into the LIMBO feeling you get. The main character has personality traits that probably come with people whom have your ability. You might be able to relate to it.

Before Freud in the 1800's the father of Psychology lived at the time of Dostoyevski, and Dostoyevski was the writer whom followed in Tolstoy's wake by 10-15. He had done as Bruce Lee, been nobody but had attractewd enough attention and was nearly killed for it. Bruce Lee was paralyzed and his boy killed, Dostoyevski was lined up in Siberia to be killed, and at the last moment he was spared by a horse courriered message. Bruce Lee and Dostoyevski were no bodies. Absolutely nobody, they simple had been criminalized, and had nearly died. Lee arose from being paralyzed for 2 years and created Kung Fu to rehabilitate himself, and then came the movies. The thing about Lee is his body on dispplay is actually the body of a paralyzed man. He did what Superman could not do. People who come back from the dead totally understand psychology. Dostoevski took Tolstoy one step further, he took Tolstoy's bold striking characterizations of characters and boiled them down into ruminate, into primordial psychological flaw. I think Dostoyevski had one such man as you in his life and the book mentioned I think includes the personality traits of people with your gift. He was one of the great writers, shedding light on an area misunderstood, the human brain's special abilities.

Wildsorkid I had that when I was younger. Only in the case where I had to be laying down and with my eyes closed (but not sleeping of course) for it to happen. Almost like a rpg, like wondering around in a different time and doing all these weird things and meeting people I'd never seen before.

If you're interested in reading a book about what you are experiencing: Dreamwalking- by Michelle Belanger.

She is a psy vamp and has written a book about the artform of Dreamwalking, for it is a trait of most vampires. We have varying level of ability to do this and can manifest it a little stronger with work and practice. Good luck.

hmm, well, I find this very easy to do. The only difference is I do not go off altogether. I say in the present and I am exactly the same as if nothing is happening. But in my head, I see it all happening. It is like a split screen, I am doing both. I can't say much about control, I suppose in your case you should harness it. You say you want to control it before it controls you. In my case, I let it control me. But I can pull out at any time I want and pick it up again later. It is the same with dreams. In my dreams, I am conscious of what I'm doing, I sometimes wonder if I'm sleeping at all or merely just thinking.

If you're conscious of the state you are in whether it be astral projection, lucid dreaming or whatever else you want to call a dream-like state, then you should be able to control it with your thoughts alone. If you're not conscious of it, then how do you know it's happening at all?

neosmisstress, you believe real dreams are limited to colorful ones? I dream in black and white sometimes, does that make my dreams unreal? I don't think so.
Nobody can really explain dreams. They are just something that happens. They can't be controlled either, not in the sense that you make yourself dream a particular thing and then work with it.

Well some of what has been posted made me think of my dear firend Greg. He is the one who has mastered Lucid dreaming. Anyways when he was much younger while at church with his family he went into this dream state where he saw the minister of his church grab his chest and drop to the floor. He saw everyone panic. A few seconds later he came to and was reliving what he just saw in his dream state. The minister was preaching and then grabbed his chest and fell and the crowd went to panic. He tried to yell at his mother but the words could not come out. It was the start of this gift he has to see things just seconds before they happen.

I agree with the above, not everyone experiences astral projection when asleep. There are those that can only do it while awake. I believe these people have it easier though, because they are conscious of it. While in a dream-state, it is more like you go along with it, a puppet on strings.

Seems to me you need to find out what is making this happen and learn how to control it.

I have waking dreams occassionally; however, I am not sure if this is part of an awakening experience. Mine are more of a prophetic nature. I see events happening just as in my sleeping dreams. These events do come to pass; however, there is no telling when or where.

It's scary if it comes out of no where, like when you're a teen or older and you've never experienced it before (it's like an awakening). But some people have it from a young age, like myself, and have grown used to it. It's just something that happens and you live with it.

Astral projection/ out of body can be done while awake. You can split your consciousness and be in two places at once (takes a little more practice I think).

It is not a bad thing do while awake, but it can (and if its real it should) leave one with a sense of "headiness" or the sensation of being ungrounded. That's what it does to me if I escape during the day..
