I was always wandering what is to be an indigo child, so many people told me that I am the one. Because my color of aura is blue, and have some talents like healing, seeing future, telepathy and many more...
Does that characteristics indicate that you are an indigo child?

The Indigo Child movement believes that the children in question are born with an empathic connection to Earth and others' thoughts. However, due to natural limits in infant communication, Indigo children's supposed abilities (empathy, telepathy, extra-sensory perception and extra-normal perception) are often suppressed by negative parental or societal influence. The Indigo Child movement therefore encourages parents to support those children in whom can be seen traits which are often labeled as negative by mainstream authorities but as positive by Indigo Child theorists.

They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it).
They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others do not share that.
Self-worth is not a big issue; they often tell the parents "who they are."
They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and do not require creative thought.
They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (non-conforming to any system).
They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
They are not shy in letting it be known what they need.
In her article [1] Wendy H. Chapman (enlightenment teacher at and Director of Metagifted Education Resource Organization [2]) says that Indigo children will also display many of the following:

Have strong self esteem, connection to source
Have an obvious sense of self
Refuse to follow orders or directions
Get bored rather easily with assigned tasks
Are rather creative
Display strong intuition
Have either strong or no empathy for others
Develop abstract thinking very young
Are gifted and/or talented, highly intelligent
Are often identified or suspected of having ADHD
Are frequent daydreamers
Have very old, deep, wise looking eyes

There is a thread on Indigo Children here in the Forum already. Did you do a search for it? I know it was quite extensive with a lot of information and discussion.

I know what you are talking about. I too have been told many times over that that is what I am.... I have heard the term since I was very small, so when I saw this thread I was like wow.. Believe it or not, there are not alot of people in the world that do not what an Indigo child is. I am not sure I believe that Aura has anything to do with it, but I do find myself attracted to very intellegent people, and people that enjoy art and such... Granted that is not uncommon to be attracted to people that have your interests. My grandfather use to secretly tell me that there was something different about me and that my parents would never see it, but that I shouldnt let that get me down. To accept who and what I am and to not let anyone tell me different. He also is the one that told me I am an Indigo child, and that my stubborn nonconformist ways would one day pay off. I realllllly miss my grandfather. lol. I have never claimed to be an Indigo child although have been told many times by different people that I am.... *shrugs*

Well.... it is to my knowledge that it is said they do, and that typically, they choose challenging people and situations.... BUT, that is only something I heard, and I can not stand by it and say, YES OMG OMG YES. lol. Like I said I am told that I am one, but I dont recall choosing who I was born too.... But would an indigo child remember that? I mean that is prebirth and once in a human body, it would be strange to recall things from before that point... lol. Okay so I just made my head hurt. :)

many of you are correct about what you have said about the indigo child. the aura dosen't nessasrly have to be blue. but there needs to be a strong connnection to the mother earth. for like a few of you said its in pain and is suffering and we must do what we can with in the limits of our abilities to aid and to heal it as best as we can.

Indigo children are part of the New Age realm of lore. they are supposedly the children who will lead the world towards a greater consciousness. Their parents tend to exhibit many talents themselves, as they are the forerunners who will protect these children til they are adults and able to begin carrying out their own tasks in the world.

There are a lot of web sites about indigo children, I recommend you start by reading there. If you are inclined to believe that you are an indigo child, then it is said that your soul will guide you to what you are destined to do.

and as for choosing who you are born to, there are a lot of new age concepts that suggest all people choose who they are born to and where they go in life, as well as what lessons they will learn in this lifetime.

The Indigo phenomenon has been recognized as one of the most exciting changes in human nature ever documented in society. The Indigo label describes the energy pattern of human behavior which exists in over 95% of the children born in the last 10 years … This phenomena is happening globally and eventually the Indigos will replace all other colors. As small children, Indigo’s are easy to recognize by their unusually large, clear eyes. Extremely bright, precocious children with an amazing memory and a strong desire to live instinctively, these children of the next millennium are sensitive, gifted souls with an evolved consciousness who have come here to help change the vibrations of our lives and create one land, one globe and one species. They are our bridge to the future.*

well, this is a very enlightening thread... i've never heard of indigo children before and after reading the posts here, i came to realize that there are some characteristics that matches mine....

although i dont know what the color of my aura is, i can say that im extremely impatient (but it doesnt show because i can easily control my temper), i love the earth greatly (i think it is my element), im easily attracted to intelligent people and those who knew art. actually, my first love is my bes friend who is the top one in our class in highschool...

on the other hand, ican't heal... but sometimes, i have a strong intuition. and there are times when i dream about things that eventually happen in the future...

does that make me an indigo child? i dont know what makes one, but im curious though.

In Borders (a bookstore near my home) I was once followed while with friends till we left the store.

A gentleman followed us across the parking lot to another store in the shopping center, and attempted to talk with me-- I spoke with him for a minute or two, my shades down. Finally, after a comment of 'You're a 'Star Seed,' aren't you?' I tipped my shades forward to look him directly in the eye (mind you, I'm nearsighted) and his expression grew to one of delight. "You ARE one~! I see it there!"

Mind you, I had been working with the occult for only 3 years, just discovering a few thingd about myself, and had never really known what a 'Star Seed' was (look the term up, it's very scientology-ish).

From there we fanned out through the store (a Target, no less,) and then rejoined out in the floral department, and hauled across the highway to get away from the kook.

It's interesting as to why certain things come easily to me-- in this respect-- and how some is VERY frustrating to the point of nearly unbearable.

I'm just me.

I don't particularly hold any value with the concept of indigo children. Yes it is a "pretty" concept, but I don't see it as being likely.

Forgive me but the whole indigo children thing seems to be a new age reversion of a second coming. Except with indigo children and then other children that are supposed to come afterwards taking the place of a returning Christ to put the world to rights.
It is a myth to comfort people that a "better" time is ahead.

That said, I don't particularly think that there are any indigo children.

Interesting! I have heard of both. I was also under the impression that a lot of these children were born with a cowel. (spelling) For those who don't know, it is a film, if you will, of skin sheathing the face of the newborn. They are said to be the Star Seeds who will "save the future." I think that given your ages, 9Much younger than I, lol) you may be these gifted children.

Interesting thing about that definition of an Indigo:
It's characterized in a way everybody can find a lot of things in common with one's own self in it.

For example:

  • I never accepted "absolute authority", but who does?

  • I often find a way to do things better, but don't we all in on way or another?

  • I am consider antisocial unless with my peers, and you, why are you here?

  • I had my IQ tested above average, but who hasn't?

  • I have no empathy for others, and some have to much, there's no middle ground!

  • ... and, and, and, ...

Sorry, but that definition just sounds like an excuse to play the brat some more to me....

Indigo children can also detect hidden agenda's in others and throw it back at them even at a young age. I have a friend who has been told he may be one as well as myself and there is a lot of research that has been done on these kids on the net.

there are a lot of old souls around now a days.. i wouldn't take that list as being the absolute list for describing these children... they are individuals after all... like being given a list of how an adhd child should behave... i have learned that lists should not be taken in absolute....

thus if you believe you are one, you might be one.. its inside of you... you know what you feel... i think that these children (and adults as they grow up) had been around for a long time.... but it seems that lately there is more awareness of such a thing...

might be that we are finally getting wiser... i dont know

Indigo children is a term used within the New Age movement to refer to children who are alleged to possess paranormal attributes such as the ability to read minds.

The Indigo child concept was first publicized in 1999 by the book The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived, written by the husband-and-wife team of Lee Carroll and Jan Tober.[1] Carroll insists that the concept was obtained via conversations with a spiritual entity known as Kryon.

The reason for the use of the adjective "indigo" is not universally agreed upon: some sources link it with an early researcher into the phenomenon, who was synesthetic. It has also been claimed that these children appear with an indigo-hued aura.
