The Ultimate Vampire Resource and Directory

I've been reading and heard that vampire clans traditionally have what most people call territory.
My question to you all is simply this.
Are Vampire clan territorial and if so has there ever been war between two vampiric clans.

i think that they would fight if anotha vampire from anotha clan came in2 there territory coz if they dont then all the otha clans would just walk in 2 there territory and sooner or l8er they would have 2 leave and find sumwhere else 2 hunt

Exactly, war is a horrible thing to go through. I don't know if there have been any wars. I don't know of any real clans having territory these days. Most clans are just through the internet... If there are any real ones still I'd love to know!

I am familiar with two clans of vampires at the moment (and to clarify, i mean real clans in everyday life, not electronic :P )

They both have said that they dont dispute territory... vampires are so few and far between in location that a region generally has plenty of room. So if a clan shifts, the other just kinda shifts as well. They dont have territory disputes because unlike sleepers, they dont have a limit of space as of right now

yes there are terriroyal for a prince rules an that territory and if anything gose on he knows about it and all vistors have to check in with him or her otherwise unwanted atteion can be drawn to them

idk man. i talked with this one dude and he seemed to reconize me as a leader of one clan. i dnt even bother, if this clan exists then i wuld galdly b there for it. its all so confusing tho

I beleive that vampires have evovle beyond war of clans, even if some consider us as a violent or emotionless race, species, call it what you want, it is still more peaceful in between then outside. The purpouse of war has no meaning to vampires and serves no goal and will not improve anything for us.

There are clans and houses and covens and every being on the planet is territorial to some degree you have your house and your yard and you put up fences and keep out signs and keep your space the way you want it and don't want other people to mess that up for you. So why would a vampire not be just as territorial as any other creature

Vampires are very territorial. They have to be in order to survive and live without causing panic. You need to know every inch of your personal hunting ground. I'm sure that vampires have fought over prime hunting ground.

I believe that Vampires are territorial but being so low in numbers, I highly doubt they would actually war with one another over a territory. In this modern time, I would imagine they would like to keep themselves under wraps so to speak.

I believe vampires are territorial But I also have to agree with the fact that battling over certain places would be minimal.

Seeing as how I've been through many, I tend to bring myself to the leader and at lest let them know what Im up too..

Territory isnt what i would use to describe it. Vampires usually have an area, say a club or something like that that they frequent. If another Vampire came into that area, we are taught to respect that vampire, but we will tell be less lenient if they do something out of turn there.

Thats usually how Vampires work around here, but i dont know oh other places.

I will have to agree with LordOfNoctemAeternus. You have to respect others around you be it of another clan or not.

If you were to enter annother vampiric territory how would you know?

and also how would you know how to contact the prince or who ever nesscary to ask for permission etc...?

There are territories, but not like in the movies or video games.And the clan wars are for the kiddy games.territory can mean where one vampire lives does not have to mean a clan or group.There are waaaay too many people who think vampires are like video games, not true.

as with all creatures we all are territorial so i cant see y vampires are not the same and id someone invades onto their territory why wouldnt they fight

Probably so, but I would hope not, I love to get along with everybody.

The modern Vampire clans rarely go to war...I mean the clubs may have as many as 15 clans in them....clans are more of a way a person is...I.E., If you are the wild type of person then you may want to join one that mostly hang out at the dance clubs..which by the way is where most younger vampires tend to go.

i personally believe that if there is a local coven then that is their "territory" therefore other covens should not really get into the local coven's buisness. so said coven should just lay low and not call attention.

I exist out of of a clan. I wouldn't know to report to a clan or where to report to a clan should I happen to visit a city. How do people know?

Most Vampyres/Vampires seek out others of like mind or of the blood, By going to goth clubs or havens. There they can find out what is what and who is who.
This way no ones toes get stepped on.

Where I live there are so few Clans,and most are independent Vampires or 1/2 breeds,it's pretty open are personal residences are fiercley guarded,but I personally haven't heard of any wars here.We may not all like each other but we respect each other,and tend to share hunting grounds (for want of a better word)Most have a herd or willing doners so there is no need to fight.

To answer the original question yes there are active clans and there has not been a "war" between them that I have heard of...... "war" being a physical action against another.....
I do believe that there has been a "mental, emotional moving " against each other. They same can be said about any "family"

I believe teh word "war" was a strong one to be used, and may have been taken as literal, or was that the intent?

i would guess they would be, most animals are territorial

i think they would only be territorial in a way that would start war if there was a reason. im sure that since there are so few vampires that sharing land isnt too difficult. but try to bring down a clan or coven in an area and im sure there will be war. just like humans.

There are two others in my area mine was the first, they are family to me, but they know if they do anything that would cause harm to our community out here they will face me. as far as a all out war there is no need for such a thing. Our community is far to small to have bullshit keep us apart. There for we talk things out to come to a better understanding.

Let's see I do not remember reading about the war between the vampire clans over territory. In South Florida we do have some gangs made up of immigrants or their offspring who seem to have nothing better to do but to fight one another and commit crime

There was something I have heard of war. That was during the nineties, but I never new any of the specifics. It was world wide, but thats all I am going to post. If you are a mage/witch and are not a fool, meaning you have taken and studied and has been of benefit to you having altered every aspect of your life to suit how you feel it should be. Then so be it, your territory is your world. Every life that is aware of its life, becomes the masterpiece in that story. Every act becomes its territory.

yea, i think that all things that are self aware are @ least a little territorial, but i believe vampires have gotten beyond petty things starting all out wars..........

Respect is the most important thing.But maybe we should all tryto unite in brotherhood.

I believe that vampires of this day and age follow certain rules of respect and would not battle over territory. We are much more civilized than people tend to think.

I am certain that there are some "clans" of sorts in existance. And, I am sure as with any other culture they have had their feuds. Although, I don't think that you will see this widely publicized as anything other than gang violence.

Vampires probably wouldn't fight over territory.

Possibly a council of clans would divide the city up into sectors for each of the clans, with the prince of each respective clan governing.

Should any other Kindred wish to spend any amount of time in the territory of another clan, they must inform the prince of that sector of the city of their being there.

War to a vampire acheives nothing. Why spend eternity pissing at another clan? There's just no point in it.

I think that clans are territoral. As for wars. I think maybe a long time ago they would war. But not as much now.

I'm sorry to say,but in going to another area,vamps as a rule keep to themselves,it is hard to find the "Prince" for want of a different word (to RPG) for my taste.So as others have said Respect for all is all that is needed thats all I've ever done in new terrority.And if they don't like it Oh F*****G well deal.

It depends on your term of territory. If you're talking about the Hollywood version or the real life version.

In real life, you could parallel the Vampire Clans with Street Gangs, only with sharper teeth. :)

As for territory battles, I doubt we'd ever know of any. Any disputes would be over before dawn anyways (assuming they're sensitive to sunlight)... and the police would be left scratching their heads... :)

Vampires of old probably did fight over territory. There is so much mixture today between the reall and make believe that it may be impossible to tell a lot about our forefathers. As many have echoed here oso far, mutual respect should be the the key to our continued existence.

Out side of large cities territories arent widely disputed. The number of Vampires is extreamly low these days. The House of Dalriada for example encompasses a territory of about 2,000sq mi. with others members in Scotland which lays claim to several islands.
But at the same time Vampire clans hold territories with in the territory of the House, it can be complecated.
Simple disputes arise but war today is almost a death sentance to any group.

Go out some Friday night you will see plenty of pissing and fights at any bar.

So no I do not think this is a "vamp" trait, rather an unpleasant human trait that people need to work on to eradicate.

I would imagine that should there be a war between territories that it would draw a drastic amount of both unwanted and dangerous attention to the species. I would hope that Vampires in all of their wisdome would have overcome the miserable desire for war becuase it could only lead to bigger problems than territory issues.

Remember folks we're talking living breathing people, not the supernatural. Every single person I know that associates themselves as a vamp will also tell you they are not a different species, just humans that have other believes, desires and needs. Please do not mock them with fiction.

I really dont see vamps having territorial issues. Like said in previous posts, there are too few vamps in a centralized location to even worry about another vamp being on your soil. This isnt Blood vs Crip in the gang wars people...
