I personally had no choice this is what I am and what I have always been.
I do however chose to embrace what I am instead of deny it as mine is hereditory and is in my blood (haemophelia is the common medical name).
Some call this the vampiric curse but as many of us with this condition see it as a blessing and use it to our advantage.
for me, it was both calling, fate, and a choice.
i have been into vampirism, wicca, shit all of it since before I recognized time. it was fate that bought a vamp to me and it was my choice to welcome him and the thirst with open arms.
Well i think it a calling , not a choice , if i had a choice i would not wish to drink the blood of humans. But i cant help it . Its my calling.
I would say a choice. I am comfortable with the way I am and that I chose to be this way.
Vampyrism
Vampyrism is not a simple path to adhere to for everyone.
Vampyres are born dark and experience childhood differently than non vampyres.
They are in touch with their dark side but too often are confused until a deeper understanding of who they are comes into focus.
There are many aspects of Vampyres.
There are those who relate to the ideals and values of a never ending life, immortality, power, the ability to transform and control elements, combining vague facts or fantasy into their lives, creating a mythical Vampyre.
These vampire humans are in search of themselves and need to be encouraged to delve deeper to find the true meanings that await them.
True Vampyres
Vampyres do not view themselves as humans, because we are not human in all terms, true Vampyres see humans as the weak strain, full of emotions that drain away at them, wandering around like sheep in a field waiting to be herded into a flock.
Vampyres see humans as prey and life force.
We are the darkness of nature, strong and beautiful.
Emotional Balance
Vampyres look upon themselves as "GODS"; there is nothing above us, only beneath.
We kneel before our make shift altars in obtaining growth and enlightenment of true darkness.
We invoke and conjure powers in various forms for development and attainment of advancement.
We dedicate our selves to ourselves.
During advanced training, human emotions are a hindrance to the true Vampyre; they create confusion and too often get in the way of reaching the desired goal. Total focus and strength is needed during ritual work. Moral values that are instilled in us since early childhood should be cast away; Vampyres are not guided by these moral issues, as they are considered part of the weakness of humans, and have no impact on a Vampyre.
This advanced training is highly regarded as the initial step into being an Adept Vampyre, the combinations of ritual work, developing psychic strength, pushing one self to the very limits, as well as testing these developments in and outwardly is only part of the rigid training that slowly builds the character needed for the Vampyre Adept.
I believe that its both because you choose to read about vampires and vampirism when you start but then it becomes a calling because you to to know more try and do more. even if its finding a site like this, or finding more books. vampirism can be both a calling or a choice.
mine was a calling I was lost untill I found what I had been missing
i believe myself it is a calling and i found my calling at the age of 12 and i have followed it still to this day
for me it wasn't a calling it was something that i had no choices in the matter i am 186 years old . i love the way i live.i love the night and the blood .
some of you on this site think im a fool but im telling you the tureth i am 186 years old and proud of it
I believe you're born with it because anyone can chose to try drinking blood but that doesnt mean they can for some the slightest taste will have adverse effects and one can chose to try to absorb energy from someone but if you dont have the ability it wont work. That being said there are some that are born to it but never awakened to it and some may choose not to live that way after being awakened but that can be difficult.
For some it may be a calling or a choice, but for me, it's just what I am and always have been. The only choice I made was to accept who and what I was and go with it.
I believe in your early years in life its a calling . depends on whether you choose to follow that calling .. So as in many things in life you always have a choice
It is all of the above. just embrace it it is who i am and will always be.
I was born into Vampirism, we are all given our specific roles in life before birth. It's sorta our manifest destiny, it just happens with the ebb and flow of this realm.
Well, I am not a blood drinker, but I have other traits. I think it is something you are born with. I remember as a small child staying awake all night. I also remember my parents wanting me to go outside a lot, and be home at dusk. WTF fun was that?
No matter what form of vampirism the person engages in, it not a choice but a natural occurance. Unlike Hollywood, you cannot be turned, you can be awakened, and those of us who are vampires have been born with it. There is no choice in the matter. Carpe Noctem
both because it is something leading you to it which is a calling and then you have a chice to accpet that calling or deny it
can be both or just one me on the other hand have been dealt the cards where I have had no choice but I'm glad it was this way
I disagree. I was born into this - being an Empath Psy is draining. But depending on how you think about it; it is a gift.
I belive that it is something you are born with. Not a calling or an awkening. For myself I have always been a blood drinker from as far back as I can possibly remember.
I believe it is something you are born with. I also believe that you have the choice to embrace it or not...
As far as hemophilia being the vampire syndrome, I don't think so... My cousin was a hemophiliac and he was no where near vampiric..
Personally, from everyone that I know, just here on VR, for instance, it is both. I think it varies from person to person.
Being a Vampire to me is a birthrite don't hate it embrace it
I had no choice in what I am....it just took time to awaken it.
me it was calling cuz it toke about till i was 16 years old to find out who i was and wat i could do and now i follow my path and if i could change anything i wouldnt at all
Not all vampire were born that way. Yes some were but others made a chose to become one others didnt have a chose and was possible forced onto them (so the movies state). So i cant believe it is one or the other it can be both
I think that it can a bit of both. I personaly craved blood when I was a child. I can not remember if it was before or after my 1st taste. I would often drink my own and when I had a friend that was willing I drink thiers. I started drinking around the age of 8. But I do not remember my 1st time.
i know only 2 different ways for vampirism! but they both contain blood! so bloods specials!
I know that I was born this way; nothing about me has changed. I've become aware of something that awoke inside me a while ago, but that's it.
I had no choice in this. Vampirism, to me, is a condition of the body. While I wouldn't have chosen it had someone come to me and said hey you'll be able to gather energy from external sources but only because you'll totally lack the ability to create that energy for yourself, I certainly wouldn't try to "cure" it now. It's part of what makes me who I am.
i think its a little of both. i thik some ppl have a choice... and they find the one to help them and make the change. i think that some ppl cant choose and are taken.
in my opionion some are born with it. some dont understand it. some figure it out right away. every one is different. everyones choices, reasons, and experiences are all causes of an effect. be it their choice or not.
WEll its can be consodered both for me it has been a lifestlye that has suited me the best therefore a calling would probaby be most fitting in this situation.
Draconis
I believe that it is both. Some are born as one and some choose to be one and some are taken.
I cannot say I am a true vampire but I can say I have always been drawn to them..almost like something calling out to me (sounds crazy I know)If anyone can shed any light on this please message me.
I think it is both in that you are born that way, and you have a CHOICE to ignore it or not, and it might be a CALLING in that a part of you knows but you need to awaken to it.
I was born this way...I knew it, and I accepted it around 13-14, and later in life, in my 20's it became a callin i chose to hear to help others, by being involved online and off to the Community.
I believe its both a choice and calling... its a lifestyle and that makes it a choice and there are those that have medical reasons so thats more a calling something your born with.
I believe it is a calling. It called to me and i have been awakened for awhile now and alway have known that day would come
its a calling we are all born with it its jsut a matter of time till you realize what you are i have lost it twice but i still come back around lost memory last time and still i found my way back
Born of Night,
Lilith and Lucifer call us their children,
Born of Night,
Of the blood and the spirit,
Born of Night,
Nuit above Hadit below,
Born of Night,
I am eternal darkness.....
and in a whirling without motion i knew who I am.
If Vampires truly exist, I don't believe it can be a choice, but more of a condition .. the way they have been born into life. Maybe there is much truth in the saying, "its in the genes baby"
I believe it's both. Starting out as a calling and than eventually a choice if a person wants to follow that calling. But in the end I don't think a person could deny his or her true calling.
I would say a choice. I am comfortable with the way I am and that I chose to be this way and there's no other way i would of rather be.
I feel the pull of being drawn towards it...my childhood was very...well lets put it as out of a family of three children I was a black sheep. I'm also anemic though and my body does a weird thing where it craves the food of the nutrient it lacks and I only hunger for it. Therefore I believe it depends on the person weather it is a choice or weather they are born it.
i know what you mean by black sheep, it sucks dosent it?
for me, it's a calling. I never had a choice. I have tried to give it up before and have been dragged back kicking and screaming. Now, I accept myself for who I am and am seeking to improve as a vampire. It's too hard to fight your true nature. And why should I have to? Why shouldn't I live my life to the fullest?
wow ok I belive it is a calling but that is a whole new post as to why I belive are blood carries memories of our past
I believed it just happened . We are a chosen few . We are special .
in the sense that craving raw meat & blood when emeamics dont get their blood transfusion, and in some cases in Europe being sensitive to raw garlic to the point of injesting it will burn from the inside out. I call that vampirism.
Probably more of a matter of being off of one's medication. But it could be a choice to be off the meds!
In my case it was something that happened all of a sudden... I realized that I was a vampire and I started feeling the need...
Im not quite sure to be honest.
I mean wen i was younger i started drinking blood but that was beacuse i had a instinked to but now i am psi, and im quite sure that no one can turn psi from drinking blood. so i guess i had no chose in eather coz one i was draved to do the other i just ended up like it.
it is both. normally you do not choose to become a vampire, someone changes you, but sometimes you can ask a vampire to change you. it could also be neither. you could have been changed without your consent and then were so horrified you denied yourself the blood.
i think with todays vampirism its more of the darker lifestyles then being born
