Continuing a thread that asked the people of VR what they thought of humans or other lesser being reaching god-hood. For the original thread go here:

it is possible. it is our destiny, it is what we were created for.
i still dont get it, so are we discussing if we can evolve into gods....?
sorry i wrote this kinda quickly I am trying to say what is your opinion on a human or other creatures lesser then gods reaching god-hood
we are all gods...so the possibility is that yes we can...if you would like to know how, just message me and I can share my thoughts... Morlock333
"Is it not written in your law that I said ye are gods "
The thing about the quote is that it wasn't to be attributed to all, only a specific group whose origins were from "Adam".
Sorry but Truth is Truth, you don't have to like it or accept it, but it doesn't change the fact either way.
Now I didn't say that elevation into a higher plane wasn't possible by all...just that the term is only attributed to a specific group.
and just who do you consider to be from the line of Adam, and are you christian?333
If i think that we are the makers of our destiny, i think that we can be considered gods... gods of our own destiny... now, i still think that there is something bigger than ourselves... some energy of creation which we all are part of... but if i think of a god, giving us guidelines, i think that all of us are gods of our own lives...
How exactly would we know if we or someone else became a god? There are so many different takes on dieties that it would be hard to qualify what exactly is the criteria of being a god. Without that answer, it is hard to speculate on humans reaching a god like status.
I think this goes somewhat along Tao belief that we are all god somewhere inside. But there are other beliefs that say that we are all fragments of a greater being and when we die we rejoin this greater being. Each life we live adds to the knowledge of the whole. Once this entity reaches a certain level of enlightenment it is able to move up to the next lever till finally it reaches the Tao or position of being God. They say that is why every era is so different then the last one because it is being ruled by a different God. You can read more on this in a book called messages from Micheal and more messages from Micheal.
an interesting question. one of my pet theories are that we already are gods, we just don't acknowledge it. after all, even the bible god himself states that mankind became like god when we learned the difference of good and evil. as a matter of fact, the real reason adam and eve got the boot from the garden was to prevent them from eating of the tree of eternal life... the only thing that truly prevents equality with god at that point.
that's the christian viewpoint. so we are gods, having been made in the image of god and then taking the knowledge of good and evil as the beginning of our end.
makes for a poetic story really. but honestly we have the ability to create as we desire if we only try and don't limit ourselves to what we may create in our life times.
immortality? that's for the afterlife to decide. beyond death's gate lies the answer to that one. physical death is only physical, after all.
Another point of view on this matter...
In the egyptian esotaric, you have ra, osiris, isis, thoth, hotep etc. Who were once all human, the old ones, the first rulers before the age of Solomon. There were ancient king making ceremonies to make on of god state or stature, for the obediance of their people, they had become like gods in their own right, for the rights of respect in the highest power.
After time, the old ones eventually did become gods to their people, in time all old mythic rulers become gods. In every religion no matter what you believe, even the high and mighty "Christians" believe this. Which is why they say, to stand on the right hand of "God", you must go through the son. Which of course was taken from the egyptians, as to stand on the right side of the Universe, one would need to go through the Sun, or Ra.
In the Vampire religion, if there is any...They claim they are gods in human form, human being that of living stature. Dead or undead, with differant priorities, but alas the same goal...Such a selfish aquisition, but we all go through it in one form or another.
For Christians, we are told to be like Jesus, therefore being like God except in human form. I know it's not totally possible but the easiest thing to do is say in this situation, what would God expect me to do.
I haave told you that you are gods and all of you are children of the most high.
Now that's from the book of Pslams
the word used for gods (Plural) is Eloheem, so the question should be to be reaching the level of an Eloheem, now who were the Eloheem.....
Do your homework, I'll be back
Thanks for pointing that out Kwil.
There is also the panthiest principal that god is everywhere and in everything. If that is the case, then we are already a god, though we might have more grandeur concepts of a diety than what we see in the mirror.
I don't know about reaching the stature of eloheem, I would rather seraphim.
I believe that everyone is their own god, they make their own choices and they are the ones who decides where their life goes, so i think that is "god" like...
I guess it all depends on the person's belief.
Some would say: I am my own god because I do what I want.
Others would say: no there's someone above us and we can't be it.
I guess when you obtain something that you wanted for long, you feel like a god/goddess :)
Also with some of our modern technology lots of people are debating that we are trying to take god's place and that it's wrong.
To each their own,I feel the Goddess when I buy that dress that I want :)
Well as I said in the coven's thread, I believe the soul is a god seed, we learn, we grow we expand and we return to that which we came from when we have gained all the knowledge and understanding that we can in all the lifetimes we spend living in many states.
I believe we are all part of one Entity, limited only by our own thoughts of separation. In that - that would mean we are more than just a human.
Try this - Look at a few strangers as you walk by or eat at a restaurant, and assume there is something familiar about them, look at them as if there is something to learn from them. See if it feels any certain way to you.
MS
if we are one entity, then why is it that most of humanity seeks to destroy other parts of it just because they can..?
god hood...first it requires the belief in god..secondly the belief in many gods..
to which neither i subscribe
we are all gods, and as such we should please only ourselves...333
I doubt humans could ever achieve godhood. And even if we could make it that far, we still have barely even made our first 'muscle twitch' which initiates our first step (when you look at the grande scheme of things).
To keep the momentum towards this distant goal, I believe we must make sure that we don't end up going in reverse. I see this, sadly, in so many people these days.
To achieve god-hood you need to be perfect. Humans were created to be imperfect. Going with the God theory here, God created Adam in a likeness of himself. He didn't create himself. Only something like him, which means there are flaws, imperfections.
I believe that a human can become very very saintly. Throughout austerities, non-sense gratification, no false ego, etc... a man can reach a very high level of spirituality. That person is definitely closer to God than those who dont practice any austerity at all (like me!)
In my case i am mostly into self-gratification. It could be only a stage, because in my past i have practiced austerities and no one can take that away from me. So right now i am not practicing those austerities anymore so i must admit that there are lots of people who are way closer to God than me at this very moment.
I agree with Kernstine it is possible and we are ment to reach it.
KA
god-head, hmmm. I think it could be possible, depending on your bloodlines if you have the greek or roman way of thinking. lol.
I think being able to reach god-head is a possibility, slim, but still there.
chokeartist makes a very important point... if we are made in the image of the gods *kwil is right that the word elohim means gods* then to what extent are we like them... are we the god copies? or another race - the slave race of adam bred to slavery in the garden *noah means relief as in relief from bondage/slavery* if we are god copies why are we flawed? did the gods suck at creating life? or did they deliberately put together a software package with bugs in it?
well.. ascending is possible, but seems unlikely to me from my current aspect on humanity..
D
I know this 4 facts Iam a warrior in training already been to the 3rd level of the battle field!1 and this is not a game its reals so yes this is facts we all can reach God hood in a diffrent fashions I know cause Ive already battled with the devel and his tridea army just the other day!! scary sytuff not a joke like ppl claim it to be !!!
I heard that when you die you go on to become a god. Like being tought or setting a goal. And each person has the same goal.
yes it is possibale to reach it iam proof of it espacialy when ive got batttle scars to prove this thereory!!
Only attributed to a certain group thats descendant from adam lol if your going to go off of the bible get itt right were all from adam.
Battle scars? Please enlighten us on your god-like status.
What is enlightenment but the attaining of self godhood? The inner light, or fire within each one of us is the divine spark which itself is a partt of the universal consciousness, which ultimately leads us to deification.
Let's all be honest here. Man believes they have already reached "God-hood"
Not to be sarcastic, but we've created things even nature is trying to regurgitate.
Trust me when I say I adore science, but sometimes the after-affects are disgusting.
In short I believe in the sorcerers theory of the evolution of Homo-sapiens into Homo-Dietus, I have already neem treading down this road, if your a practitioner and your not sure what this theory is and you wanna know just messege me and ill enlighten you.
The concept of god hood dates back way before the mormons I dont believe anyone can be a god persae, howeber I think what Lovely Marlene said sounds very Mormon, I know this all to well as I child I grew up around Mormons. The Homo-Dietus theory goes deep into the advancement of forbiden magic and secret sciences.
As I stated before, I think no mortal shall reache god hood. Many characters from the past have reached high statis for their actions in battle or the actions in their life. Yet only a few sick in the mind individuals ever thought they were god. and turned to die when their time ran out. No godhood for mortals.
Hebrew: but God knows that as soon as you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like divine beings who know good and bad."
Greek: For God knows that on the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Old Latin: For God knew that on the day on which you would eat of it your eyes would be open, and you would be like gods, knowing good and evil."
Vulgate: For God knows that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened; and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Peshitta: For God knows that in the day that you eat from it, your eyes will be opened, and you will become like gods, knowing good and evil
So knowing both good and evil we would be as gods. The word used here for gods is Eloheem, so then who are the Eloheem? What is their relationship to "God" Well the Eloheem are the "WE" in Genesis, because it states it as such Eloheem (plural). And they had a hand (biblically speaking) in the "creation of man" so they knew both good and evil, but yet "Adam" did not...so was Adam better off not knowing? and thus not being "god like"? But yet still the ONLY "Son of God"....This is what the bible says (NT)
Since we know both "good" & "evil" and since the scripture states that "we are gods, and all of us children of the most high" We have the knowledge and ability to choose to do "good" or "evil" ...better yet to be "Agreeable or Disagreeable" beings . So wouldn't "god-hood" be equal to each, a totally Agreeable being and a totally Dis-agreeable being, both knowing the others side of things but choosing to be as they are. That is "Will"
Again I will state as I have before the example of...and yes you can go ahead and laugh.....the JEDI and the SITH.
The whole Star Wars story was not something happening in the future, but what had happened in the past...Once upon a time , long...long...ago
Remember the war in the "Heavens" it's mentioned throughout the scriptures in references of every degree.
So if we are to be in a god-hood state, for which many might be seeking, we must know both good and evil and either choose one or the other or both. Both reside within us.....The side of Light and the Dark side
As I feel that nature is Divine therefore "God/dess" and we are all part of nature we do indeed have the chance of becoming more divine or becoming "God/dess" as well. I just feel that it is an on going process.
I believe we all have power over our own lives....but I don't think anyone can reach 'god-hood'
I have always thought a 'god' is someone with superior power over something on this earth...
rude noise!
God by defintion is infinate and unknowable.humans are finite so its impossible.
We are all gods in the making...it is a matter of wether we allow ourselves to reach that or whether we allow society to hold us to it's ideas and ideals...333
Depends. Do not tell a Christian that. They would consider it a insult towards their God. I would tell them that the Bible clearly states that God formed man in his own image. I believe that once we leave this plane of existence it can be possible.
First, Kwil: What's the reference on the earlier posted quote? The first one you had in this thread... Is that Biblical? And I was impressed that you did the homework you asked everyone else to do on the word "Elohim". I'd love to be able to have a scholarly discussion on that word and other concepts of the state of godhood without it having a Christian or Biblical slant, as if the Bible is the only sourcebook for the topic. *sigh*
Second: I'm not so much on Humans being able to attain godhood. Certain mortal beings, ABSOLUTELY! But Normal, null, mundane Humans....not so much. Just my opinion.
If we were all gods, why don't we see good people ascending into godhood everyday?
i know that the buddist belife is that we are all gods already and must achieve a state of enlightenment to attain it . and that when we pass our souls become part of the collective being
Mankind ... Gods...
Hmm interesting proposal but I recall the greek gods lost control when man waged wars upon each other without obeyng the cousel of the Gods.
u can't be gods u can only ascend to a higher existence of life not a god its the truth read it its in the bible and i m the truth for i have ascended higher than most
some also belive that it is the worshipers that give the gods the power in the first place .... with out anyone worshiping them they have no one to exert the power over
God is God we are not able to be equal to him the most is we are equal to Jesus
I agree with an earlier post. Our soul is created as a thought from the gods, that soul then goes on a journey to learn and discover all it needs to learn and discover. Once it has gained all the knowledge it can possibly acquire it returns to the Gods and returns to where it came from.
I believe that you are a soul inhabiting the body. I believe the bodies that we are in act as an inhibitor for us and we will continue to inhabit some sort of body untill we have learned how to escape what holds us to our bodies. Once we have hit a certain level in understanding our selves we accend into a god.
Essentially, all religious belief structures are correct, however, non-sentients bickering about the metaphorical packaging just goes to show the damage that ignorance based free will can do, and why true clarity, wisdom, and omnipotence is only achieved by a select few.
Regardless of this cold, blistering fact, we are all part of a greater being, whether we want to acknowledge it or not. It is through trial and error, practice, theory, and hypothesis that one can eventually obtain true balance. However, even this idea is not without its flaws.
For many generations, humans have attempted to achieve god-like or god-hood status, with statistically few successful attempts. This is not coincidence, as even pantheons, belief structures, and ideas are not without their flaws as well.
Even gods themselves are puppets of a greater being, which is also controlled by an even larger entity. This almost endless projection/mirroring is infinite, consisting of a path that is linear, circular, non-linear, and singular.
I believe the more correct idea that should be postulated, is if one takes full advantage of these flaws, and exploits them to the point where god-esque status is eventually achieved, or through perseverance and dedication, would the gods themselves acknowledge this, or would they simply turn their eyes away and say "Move along, now, there's nothing here to see."
If the latter is not the case, would they be ultimately be pleased that one would achieve such a goal, or ashamed of the possibility where a lesser being has succeeded where they may have failed.
I think that everyone is their own god, but if you mean gods that have power and are immortal, then i doubt if the average person could do or become that...
i think we can strive to become "god-like". reaching for perfection, though we will never have it.
I agree with the post directly above me. We all strive for perfection but will never reach it. I think of god as an immortal, all powerful being. I do not believe that we can reach that, no.

I have to say i agree with Jens on this one.. I highly Doubt Humanity will ever get to Godhood as we are so negative and hostile personaly thinks Humanity is heading backwards when we should be moving ahead.. instead of bettering ourselves we in fact destroying ourselves.. shakes my head.. We Yes have the capability within us to be Godlike but then with the decision we choose like filling our systems with Drugs and Alcohol and tarnishing ourselves neglecting our intelligence by not pushing ourselves to be the best.. dropping out of schools .. or having some schooling and not pursueing more or even sharing our knowledge to help others to succeed... as were supposed to be Gods.. thinks we are having a sad excuse of a time of it if we are
If you have any of the beliefs or a higher being, how can you ever even think that you may ever be as great as the one who created you. I don't think that would be possible.
Throughout history a select few have chosen to make decisions as gods that treated millions of others as less than human. I don't believe the mind of mankind is capable of godlike qualities, only godlike delusions. I believe we all strive to reach a higher plane of existance and become more like what we assume God to be, but to assume we have reached godhood in this life is only vanity at best, and very dangerous at it's worst.
Since out advent in this world, our biological purpose is to get improved as much as possible.
I believe that some people can become what the Renessense people named "Homo Universalis" (ie to collect solid knowledge on any topic, from science to painting and music).
Yet, to become a "god" with the meaning of doing miracles etc seems rather unlikely to happen.
We are all Gods. We all have powers we have yet to discover.
In the religion i was in they taught that we are all Gods and Goddesses, but we are in training. They also stated that not everyone may make it that far, and be able to create their own worlds.
That we are here on this earth to learn and experience so that we may be able to one day create our own universe and lives.
Mind..I have left this religion, but it is still a pleasant thought.
If everyone is a God, then it is the same as if nobody is a God. Kind of boring.
I dont see it as possible we are too selfish and arrogant for godhood
I agree but in this day and age anything could be possible depending on your beliefs.
A lot of people have a hard time simply simply being decent people. I would hate to this what would happen if one was to become a god.
Possible? Maybe... but I really really doubt it.
yeah it is hard to find decent ppl nowadays because most are just concened with making alot of money and living a high lifestyle too much tv and seeing the rich and appreciating what they have in their life instead of trying to be like the rich.
Sorry, I know that last post was loaded with bad grammar. I need more coffee haha.
Anyway, this just made me wonder. A god of what exactly? A god of everything and truly all powerful or a more specific god such as a god of a certain element or season for example.
I really and truly fear what most people would do as gods. It isn't really power that corrupts, it is the love of power for it's own sake that does.
Great power offers the potential for great good. Unfortunately most people don't have the ability to deal with power. Though initially the desire for good can be sincere, eventually a powerful man becomes in his own mind, a god. He might not see it that way but when he begins to manipulate others because he is convinced that he knows what is best for us all then he has been corrupted.
I don't think people can become gods except in their itty bitty minds
well, ladies and gentlemen, the theory is to attain godhood, you must know everything and not just some things in life, you literally must know everything about life and the creatures in the world and how to deal with everything, frankly i think its all bullshit, my theory is that if you know more than the average man then youre a damn god already, not on the way to godlike status
this is very true but no one alive knows more than the avg man we are all about the same. Some are just more gifted than others in certain areas.
I would say that it boils down to belief systems, and how you view the world. What your idea of a "god" is. For those people who believe in self empowerment, and the power of our minds over reality... I'd say yes.
Of course, we're all gods in our own little way. Everytime we sleep. And Dream. =D
Me personally? I wouldn't much care for being a god. And what would I be the "god" of? Cynicism? ACK! No thanks. I leave the workings of the universe to whatever powers are already in place. Loooow expectations. =D
I wouldnt want to be a god because there would be so much I would want to change and why bother I am use to the way things are now lol
i dont know if its possible to becomea god but if i could i definitely would and i would make a few changes.
I believe that we can have special abilities given to us by the spirits within our bodies, but I do not believe in gods
